Leadership

Pymble’s Upper School Student Leadership program encourages girls in Years 9 and 10 to take up leadership roles. These include Student Representative Council Leaders, House Liaison Leaders, Compass Captains, Chapel Leaders, Peer Support, Upper School Leaders, new student buddies and Alliance of Girls Schools representatives.

Social responsibility

Pymble’s Upper School Social Responsibility programs connect our girls with the world in a meaningful manner. Through these programs, each girl realises she can make a difference to social justice and equity issues in an increasingly diverse global community.

Year 9 students can join in one or more Community Service initiatives with organisations such as Exodus, Easy Care Gardening, Northaven Aged Care and St Edmund’s School. Girls grow and thrive through opportunities to serve others, undertake individual reflection and develop a greater understanding of the world. Students are also acknowledged with certificates recognising their individual efforts under the Premier’s Volunteer Recognition Program which recognises the contribution volunteers make towards strengthening our communities.

Year 10 girls select a Service-Learning project for the year, working in groups and meeting fortnightly during Compass sessions with mentors to plan, develop, budget, resource, advocate, promote and deliver a project for a community organisation. Past projects have included support for girls’ education, Indigenous communities, women’s rights, environmental protection, animal welfare, refugee assimilation, ageing with dignity and socio-economic disadvantage.

Through our Community Service and Service Learning programs, students connect purposefully with the world, becoming active and informed citizens through community service, sustainability initiatives and charity experiences.
