Holy Thursday ጌታ/Gêta/ the Lord’s Supper (Institution of the Eucharist) Mark 14:22-26; the washing of the disciples’ feet (John 13:1-11)
The 12 disciples led the way to the upper room where ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus shared His final meal. He told them that His life would end and that He’d be betrayed. He shared His bread [body] and wine [blood] with them, then bowed His head and prayed.

The Lord’s Supper 22
While they were eating, He took some bread, and[a]after a blessing He broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is My body.” 23 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 24 And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.25 Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of እግዚአብሔር [Igziabher/God].” 26 After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. ~ Mark 14:22-26
Maundy Thursday It is a day on which the ጌታ ኢየሱስ/Gêta EeYesus/Lord Jesus in absolute humility washed His Disciples' feet, ate the Last Supper with them and revealed the mystery of the Holy Eucharist. On this day the Liturgy is celebrated. Before the liturgy, the priest brings water in a basin and saying the prayer of thanksgiving, washes the feet of the faithful. When the Liturgy is over, the faithful leave for home after benediction.
John 13:1-11 The Lord’s Supper
13 Now before the Feast of the Passover, ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.2 During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,3 ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from እግዚአብሔር/Igziabher/God and was going back to እግዚአብሔር/Igziabher [God], 4 *got up from supper, and *laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.
ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet [John 13 cont.] 5
Then He *poured water into the basin, and began to wash the
disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. 6 So He *came to Simon Peter. He *said to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?”7 ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter.” 8 Peter *said to Him, “Never shall You wash my feet!” ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” 9 Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”10 ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus *said to him, “He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew the one who was betraying Him; for this reason He said, “Not all of you are clean.”
The Prayer in the Garden [Matthew 26] Then ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” 36
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” 39
Matthew 26 [cont.] 40
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless [e] I drink it, Your will be done.” 43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. 44 So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.”
Matthew 26 [cont.] Betrayal and Arrest in Gethsemane 47 And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.”49 Immediately he went up to ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 48
But ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” 50
Matthew 26 [cont.] Then they came and laid hands on ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus and took Him.51 And suddenly, one of those who were with ኢየሱስ/EeYesus [Jesus] stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 52 But ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” 55 In that hour ኢየሱስ/EeYesus/Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. 56 But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.
