PRODUCTION & LIVING
Academic Project, Individual Work Apartment Design
Instructor: Zhiqiang Xu
Location: Guangzhou, China Spring 2018
In China, the contradiction between village and city is becoming more and more acute in the rapid urbanization. In Chisha Village of guangzhou, due to its proximity to the garment market, a large number of clothing workshops have appeared, and the production activities and daily living are completed in the same space, leaving them no room for entertainment. At the same time, the cheap rent makes it impossible for them to rent a better apartment.
2004 2022
The self-built Apartments in Chisha had become packed since the continuous increasing of housing demand from workers.
THE CONTRADICTION BETWEEN PRODUCTION AND LIVING
The common plan of self-built houses is sitting room +1~2 rooms + kitchen and toilet, which dfoes not leave a space for production activity. If the residential unit is used as a production workshopvv, then the production of furniture will occupy most of the space, and there will be no space to put living objects (sofa, TV, etc.) and no entertainment activities.
STRATEGY
STRUCTURE SYSTEM
Concrete and wood are respectively used to form Spaces for production and living.
2. Production Space 3. Living Space ( Wood Structure) 1. Concrete Shear WallTRANSPORTATION SYSTEM
Through the small hoist and stairwell, workers can easily lift the goods downstairs.
CarrigeThe ground floor provides public space for the villagers to stop and talk. Large pieces of glass and height allow maximum daylight to be obtained so that limited distance between buildings wouldn't make the interior dark.
INTO THE FLOW

Acedemic project, Individual Work
Instructor: Neil Daneri
In this project, I aim to improve the flow and continuity of the space and create a stronger connection with the surrounding site. While people on the street and in the landscape tend to be in constant motion, those in the building generally maintain a relatively stable condition. To enhance the fluidity of the space, I will explore design solutions that facilitate movement and provide seamless transitions between different areas. By establishing a stronger connection with the site, the building will feel more integrated into its surroundings and offer a more cohesive experience for its occupants.
The ramp and roof system create a complex visual connection and wander exerience because of the stack of the volumes. People can not only walk on the ground but also go across the roof and enjoy a higher view of the school.
The interior space aims to create a soft and ambiguous atmosphere. The streamline stairs and walls blur the edge of the space, drive people come in and explore the building smoothly.

PARALLEL HOUSING
Housing Design
Advanced Topic Studio, Fall 2020
Individual Project
Instructor: Garrett Ricciardi
Housing in Los Angeles is very atomic. The sharp boundaries between private properties and the public make the street have no where to stop, creating a fragmented, discontinuous walking experience. To make a better community, parrellel walls were adopted to create a continuous and walkable apartment visually and physically. The shear walls were aligned in 45 degrees so that more corners beside roads could appear for people to stop and talk.
PROFESSIONAL WORK
Besides the academic projects, I also got full exercise in my previous work and internship. With various projects in different scale, functions and clients, I have better knowledge of architectural design and construction.

SHENZHEN QIANHAI COMMERCIAL COMPLEX
Professional Work Location:Shenzhen Qianhai
Role: Concept design, Facade Design, 3D Modeling, Line Drawing
This is a competition project for a mixed-use development that aims to connect a plot of land that is divided by a highway, and create a sustainable public space for a crowded urban area with a lack of public spaces. To achieve this, the project features a three-dimensional corridor that extends through the development, integrating the architecture with the surrounding urban context. The corridor serves as a continuous public space, connecting different parts of the development and offering a dynamic and engaging environment for both commercial and residential uses.
