SDMC • Student Council 12
Student Council Shared DecisionMaking Council The Shared Decision Making- Council (SDMC) is an opportunity for elected representatives from the faculty, staff, and student communities at Evans to share the responsibility of leadership at our school. The committee is co-chaired by the principal and chapter chair of UTLA. SDMC considers matters of staff development, student discipline and conduct, the scheduling of school activities, and the purchase of school equipment and supplies through the instructional materials account.
The council’s decision-making is by consensus of the representative groups, with a formal vote occurring rarely. The council is yet another way for stakeholders’ voices and viewpoints to come together to solve problems.
The Evans Student Council builds school pride, improves the campus and community, and cultivates leaders. Our council members have organized school projects, raised funds for student scholarships and supported disaster relief around the world. The student council is an indispensable part of Evans’ success story. Our members meet once a week to make decisions regarding school-related activities at Evans CAS. We have excellent communication with administration and teachers. In this way, students have a great opportunity to build leadership skills. Leadership helps students to gain respect, confidence, success, and recognition for the work they do, with cooperation from their friends, classmates and family.

Mission Statement Evans Community Adult School provides a variety of instructional modes for a diverse student population to achieve success in attaining their goals.
Thank you!
Yearbook 2011 would not have been possible without the assistance of the administration, counseling staff, teachers, student council, students, and support personnel. Thanks to Pierre Zubrinsky and all who provided photos of special events. Gary Ramirez (photographer) was responsible for high school graduate, faculty and staff pictures. Finally, thank you to Q Press Graphic Design Studio in Pasadena for advice, layout, patience and artistry, and for taking on the task of photographing each classroom.
