LA County Introduces New Voting Platform In 2020, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s Office will introduce its new voting platform, Voting Solutions for All People. This system was custom designed just for Los Angeles County voters. In Los Angeles County, the former polling places have been upgraded to Vote Centers. Voters now have the option to cast a ballot in-person at any Vote Center in Los Angeles County. Vote Centers look and feel like polling places, but provide additional modern features to make voting easy and convenient, such as the Ballot Marking Device. The Ballot Marking Device (BMD) makes it easy for voters to customize the voting experience to fit their needs. Voters can access 13 languages, adjust the touch screen to a comfortable angle, change the display settings such as text size and contrast, or navigate through the ballot using the audio headset and control pad. In addition, having a single day to vote in person at a dedicated location is now a thing of the past. Voters in Los Angeles County will now have 11 consecutive days to vote in person at any Vote Center in Los Angeles County. For more information, please visit https://vsap.lavote.net.

Seeking Part-Time Recreation Leaders
Census 2020, It's Important! Census 2020 FAQ’s: When does Census 2020 take place? Starting in mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving an invitation to participate in Census 2020. The best way to avoid a visit from a census taker is to fill out the Census 2020 questionnaire online, by phone, or by mail as soon as you receive your invitation to participate. Who is required to respond? Everyone living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories (Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands) is required by law to be counted in Census 2020. Why is Census 2020 so important? Census 2020 results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year. The results determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.
The Lawndale Community Services Department is seeking part-time recreation leaders for paid positions in the Parks and Recreation and Senior Services divisions. Limited to 20 hours per week. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Employment applications available at City Hall, or at www.lawndalecity.org. For online employment application, mouse over Government tab, and then Departments, click on Administrative Services link, and then Employment Opportunities at the left margin and then Employment Application. Completed application must be submitted to Lawndale City Hall reception desk.
What about my personal information, is it protected? Your information is protected under Title 13 of the U.S. Code. When you respond to the census, your answers are kept anonymous. They are used only to produce statistics. The U.S. Census Bureau is bound by law to protect your answers and keep them strictly confidential. The law ensures that your private information is never published. By law, the Census Bureau cannot release any identifiable information about you, your home, or your business, even to law enforcement agencies.
Spring Los Angeles County Lawndale Library Programs
What is the importance of the data? The results of the Census 2020 will help to make informed decisions about allocating hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding to communities across the country for hospitals, fire departments, school lunch programs, and other critical programs and services.

How does the census help communities? Census 2020 data helps communities respond to natural disasters and secure funding for hospitals and fire departments. Census 2020 results affect your community every day. Results affect planning and funding for healthcare, including programs such as Medicaid, Medicare Part B, State Children’s Health Insurance, and the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. Census 2020 results affect planning and funding for education, including programs such as Head Start, Pell Grants, school lunches, rural education, adult education, and grants for preschool special education. What if a Census 2020 worker comes to my home? In May, census takers will begin visiting homes that haven't responded to the census to help ensure everyone is counted. If someone visits your home to collect information for Census 2020, check to make sure that they have a valid ID badge, with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date.
Where can I complete Census 2020? Those without a computer can complete their Census 2020 questionnaire at the Lawndale Community Center Computer Lab during the following days and times: Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The computer lab will be closed on the following Saturdays: March 21st, April 4th, April 25th and May 30th.
