COLLABORATING TO DRIVE DIGITAL INNOVATION

ESD: VIRTUAL INNOVATIONS SHOWCASE 2021

INTRODUCTION

The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for virtual engagements between Education and Skills Development (ESD) staff and students. During the period March December 2020, several new systems have been approved for use in ESD following formal consultations with relevant platform providers, Queen’s ICU, Queen’s Legal Services and Information. These have initially been highlighted in relation to assuring relevant data management practices. However, their emergence also has wider relevance for ESD services, students and other stakeholders, including the overall aims of the University Digital Literacies Working Group which seeks to: 1. Embed digital learning, assessment, support and training across all taught programmes by 2021. 2. Implement a new Digital Learning Solution (Canvas) in 2018/19 (achieved). 3. Roll out a training and support programme to help staff and students improve their digital capabilities. 4. Raise staff digital capabilities & other aims of the University Digital Literacies Working Group.

VISION TO ESTABLISH A FORUM AND CULTURE OF SYSTEM SHOWCASING AND, WHERE APPROPRIATE, SHARING ACROSS ESD. The ESD Systems Showcasing initiative will establish a framework and culture of showcasing and sharing of systems-related practice across all staff. It will offer an opportunity for any colleague to view systems that are potentially relevant to their area of work and hear from those who are already using them. Each showcase will also refer interested staff to more formal opportunities for staff training & development, should they wish to further develop their understanding and potentially incorporate the systems into their own work practices.
