A corporate identity is more than a design image. It is an organisation’s unique character – a combination of its reputation, name, corporate culture, operations and activities. Besides encapsulating these qualities, it also adds something to them. Designing identities requires the designer to become intrinsically involved in the organisation, so as to have a complete understanding and thus influence the image presented in all its aspects. With the designer ever present, quality and flexibility complement the design rules and regulations set for implementation. In the application of identity design, it is not slavish consistency but real quality that brings about distinction.
