Ramテウn テ」ila, painter, graphic designer, printmaker and sculptor, has established a long career in the arts in Guatemala that began after his arrival from Spain with large portraits of indigenous people, followed by his focus on abstraction - vibrant works of rich color tonalities and dynamic force for which he is best known today. He was also a founder of the Galerテュa de Arte Tornada, where he has exhibited his work for more than 30 years.

Elmar Rojas, one of Guatemala’s most respected artists, developed a distinctive personal style expressive of “magical realism.” His haunting and atmospheric paintings seem to be made of layers of colored smoke, creating evocative backgrounds for his unique cast of characters. His works are often comments on Guatemalan political and social events, and on the myths and legends of the country’s rich pre-Hispanic past.

Luis Gonzålez Palma is one of Latin America’s most significant contemporary photographers. Born in Guatemala, trained as an architect, Luis turned to photography in the mid-1980s. He dramatically manipulates the texture of his prints, thickly layering them with oil paint or watercolor washes and distressing them to give them a worn, antique feeling.

FUNDACIÓN ROZAS BOTRÁN In 1985, Jose Rozas Botrán founded the art gallery that bears his family’s name in order to promote Guatemalan contemporary artistic expressions. In 1996, the initial project adopted social responsibility labor principles, which lead to the creation of the Rozas Botrán Foundation, an institution with comprehensive and ambitious social objectives. Since then, its tasks have multiplied and during 2016 it will celebrate 15 years of serving Guatemalans in the areas of health, education, and scientific research in health issues, as well as in the fields of culture, the arts, and Guatemalan artistic heritage conservation. SAN JOSÉ MEDICAL CAMPUS The Rozas Botrán Foundation donated in 2002, a plot of land located on the road to Bárcenas, Santa Lucía Milpas Altas, in Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, where the Hospital and Hospice San José, the Science and Education Institute for Human Genetic and Metabolic Disease Research, and the Center for Artistic Heritage Restoration (CREA) are located. These institutions were established to offer dignified attention to those in most need. INVEGEM The Science and Education Institute for Human Genetic and Metabolic Disease Research is an organization conceived for the assistance of individuals and families affected by the most prevalent hereditary diseases of genetic origin in the American continent population. Within its main functions is to cooperate in the formation of care givers specialized in health. SAN JOSÉ HOSPICE AND HOSPITAL San José Hospice was founded in Guatemala in 1989. It is a non-government, non-profit organization with a national social scope. It assists children who have tested HIV positive, and seronegative children as inpatients. It also assists in an outpatient basis children and adults who are HIV positive, patients who have been exposed to HIV and those who are seronegative. CREA The Center for the Scientific Salvage, Study and Analysis of Art emerged in order to give scientific support to the practice of artistic heritage conservation and the restoration of cultural assets in Guatemala. COELI Is a pioneer new project specialized in certification for labor integration of people with different abilities and needs. It is proposed as a national reference project for multiplying the concept to serving people with different abilities and needs. 59 Inicio Fundación Rozas Botrán
