Android TV Gaming While there are some who consider mobile gaming a watered-down, casual affair, the continuing release of excellent mobile games along a wide variety of genres is challenging that line of thinking. As the mobile gaming market continues to grow, big publishers and quirky indie devs continue to rise to the challenge with a variety of big budget titles, ports of full PC and console titles, and clever little gems that utilize the touch screen and other aspects of a smartphone. All these can now be accessed on your Android TV Consol. These games have high definition and are a lot cheaper than traditional console games.
There are so many brilliant HD games on the Android app market and off the apps market. Android TV Media - Movies Android TV gives you a few ways to access your movies. Google Play With most Google Play movie rentals, you have 30 days from the time of purchase to start your movie and 24 hours from the time you begin playback to finish watching (or to watch as many times as you can!). All of your recent movie rentals are displayed in the Google Play Movies app on your Android device. If you've already begun watching a movie, you'll see a rental expiration countdown in red text below the movie poster and title.
Personal Movies Unlike the Apple TV you can connect a local external drive via a USB port and use your Android TV to import and sort all of your movie and TV show data and then let you watch it. Once imported your unit will go and retrieve all the artwork, actor information and trailers then deliver it through a nice easy to use interface. You need to be connected to the Internet so it can retrieve the information.
You can also purchase them and watch as many times as you want. You can also get hundreds of free movies and TV shows. You can also use various Apps to access other services such as HULU and many others Like TV Series Catch Up, different country TV stations and more.

NB: It is important to see the interface for your android TV Box as not all do this. When you first start your Android TV Box you should at least add one source, like a drive or directory on your device to get you started. If you select "Add sources" a dialog appears, where you may manually input a path, or browse to a source that contains media that you would like your Android TV box to use and display. So your Android TV is a complete media management system.

Chromecast At its press event in San Francisco, Google announced a new device to help bring content from Android, iOS and Chrome devices to TV screens, attacking Apple TV and Roku in the process. The device, called "Chromecast," runs a simplified version of Chrome OS and connects directly to a TV through the HDMI port; you can then beam the content of your smartphone directly to the Chromecast, as long as you are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
The device allows users to wirelessly send 1080p content from services like Pandora, Google Music, YouTube and Netflix from their iOS, Android or Chrome devices to their TV screens; other apps will follow, as Google has opened up the functionality to developers, meaning that any app could hypothetically take advantage of Chromecast. Unlike Apple’s Airplay feature, Chromecast doesn’t mirror the device's display, allowing users to put their device to sleep without interrupting the stream on the television. Android, iOS and Chrome devices can also be used as remote controls to turn the TV on, raise the volume and add more videos to a streaming queue, all without interrupting the video stream. Chromecast is available now through Google Play, Amazon and Best Buy for $35. Early adopters will be given three months of Netflix service for free (for new and existing subscribers) with their purchase. PROS: Extremely inexpensive. Smooth integration with supported apps. Easy to set up. Useful accessories. Supports multiple Chromecasts on the same network.
CONS: No local media playback. Chrome integration is limited. BOTTOM LINE: The Google Chromecast is the least expensive way to access online services on your HDTV if you can't do so already, even if more functional, pricier options are available.

Android TV vs Apple TV2 Apple's is undoubtedly a slick way to watch TV shows and movies on your TV, but you'll have to convert just about everything you want to play on it. Unless you pay to rent or buy content from iTunes, that is. So it's no wonder that many people are seeking an alternative which meets their needs. The Apple TV (even the latest third-generation model, reviewed) can't play MKV files and you can't plug in a USB flash drive or hard drive full of your own videos. Instead, you have to stream them from a computer running iTunes. Heck, it doesn't even have any catch-up TV services such as BBC iPlayer. The new Android TV Boxes allow you much greater versatility. It has almost endless support for video formats. Just about anything you have will play on the WDTV Live, from MKV to ISO and XviD. Files can be played from local storage via USB, or across your network (there's both wired and wireless networking built in). The HDMI output means there's Full HD support. It can't mirror your iPad's screen as an Apple TV 2 or 3 can, but there's a remote control apps for iOS which is similar to Apple's Remote app. Another nice feature that the AppleTV is currently lacking is a web browser, whereas Google TV has Chrome built-in. It also boasts a Twitter application for those who want to to tweet from their TV, and it supports flash, something that we can safely rule out of ever officially appearing on Apple’s device. Each device has its strengths and excels in individual areas; Android TV boasts more content sources and applications, whereas AppleTV has a remarkable operating system and access to the popular iTunes Store. It all boils down to user experience, and which device will better suit you.

What is Google TV?
Google TV is an Android-based operating system for smart TVs, or TVs that connect to the Internet as well as to standard set-top devices like DVD and Blu-ray players or DVRs. Google TV software comes built right into some TVs, but if you don’t want to buy a new TV you can simply buy a set-top box that plugs right into any HDTV and gives you exactly the same functionality. There are no recurring fees and it even updates itself automatically. Google TV is proprietary software which is different to Android TV and has a few limitations. The idea behind smart TVs is that not only do they allow you to connect to the Internet, but they allow the TV to add services and suggestions (and yes, ads) tailored to your preferences.
p11
Google's approach is to create a platform and allow developers to do what they will with it. That may be the right approach, since content providers and developers don't have to go to as much effort to get their content to your TV, but it may be the wrong approach as media companies try their hardest to hold onto whatever profit margins they can and squeak out exclusive deals with compaines like Microsoft to bring content to their devices. That brings up another point about Google TV - game systems.
The Google TV system may end up being more appealing to new users without game consoles, but the user interface isn't less intimidating. Google TV apps may cure both problems, both by adding game appeal and by adding simplified user interface options.

Smart Television Given the popularity of smartphones, such as the iPhone, it's entirely possible that the concept of a "connected device" could easily translate to a television. But what is a smart TV and what does it do? What does smart TV mean? Like a smartphone, a smart TV offers a number of "internet connected services" that normal televisions can't offer. It has the equivalent of a computer built into it, giving you a greater number of services. These televisions offer apps, media streaming, web browsing, games and, perhaps most importantly, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).
usually available for a few hundred dollars. Investing in a media player is also an economical way to bring streaming content to your home theatre system. How do I control the TV? To many people, a "smartphone" means that it has a touchscreen, but when your TV is six feet away this makes it hard to "touch". As a way to get around this, manufacturers have come up with several different methods available for controlling smart TV. You can use many different bluetooth controllers and pointers.
IPTV is a specific type of internet video standard, but is now also used as shorthand for any video streamed via the internet to your TV. It can take the form of short clips or continuous "live" channels. While these features aren't new, and have been a part of some televisions and set-top boxes since 2005, the term "smart TV" has given them a name. What if I don't want a new television? If you have already bought a flat-panel TV recently, then there is a way to get the smart TV features without having to buy a whole new television. Several companies offer set-top boxes with smart features onboard, and are

Unfortunately, all of the different TVs have their own unique operating environments, and you can't translate apps from one device to another. However, most smart TVs have their own remote applications on the Android and Apple app stores that will enable you to control the TV from anywhere in the house.
