Veera Välimäki I live and design in Southern Finland. I love simple yet modern knits that are easy to wear year after year. I’m a master of casting on for new sweaters, and I adore garter stitch and all kinds of short rows. The majority of my work is self-published. And my knits have been featured in magazines and books in Finland, Europe, and the US. You can follow my process in knitting at the sites below. Melanie Berg I’m Melanie and in my real life I’m an IT specialist, mother of three and a semi-successful housewife. In my secret second life I design knitwear. I live with my husband and three children in Bonn, Germany, where I spend my time combining colors, shapes and textures into freewheeling designs that are uniquely my own. I’ve been published by yarn companies and knitting magazines large and small, and I’ve also self-published my own patterns and e-books. I love collaborating with creative types from all over the world. On Ravelry: Mairlynd Blog: mairlynd.wordpress.com Website: www.mairlynd.de
Kristen TenDyke I’m a knit and crochet designer from Maine. I spend most of my time playing with eco-friendly yarns, but when I’m not doing that, I can be found exploring nature, studying healing arts, curled up with a good book, or social networking. My first book—Finish-Free Knits—came out in November 2012 from Interweave Press. On Ravelry: KristenTenDyke Website: www.kristentendyke.com www.caterpillarknits.com

Paula Emons-Fuessle Knitting is my passion! I learned to knit in Denmark and then found Elizabeth Zimmermann's books. I share my passion on my weekly podcast, Knitting Pipeline, available on iTunes and at www.knittingpipeline.com. Another big part of my life is playing bagpipes with Celtic Cross Pipes and Drums, a competition and performance band in Peoria, Illinois. I've had my own home business for 30 years which has allowed me flexibility to pursue many interests. When I'm not knitting or playing the pipes I enjoy walking for health and fitness, studying birds and nature, and reading. Each of my designs is the result of wanting to knit a particular item and working it out. My favorite designs are ones that give the impression of being complicated to knit but really are quite simple. I live with my husband by a wood in Central Illinois where we enjoy nature every single day. You can find me on Ravelry as PrairiePiper and as moderator of the Knitting Pipeline Group. Mindy Wilkes I live in suburban Cincinnati, but I’m forever from Appalachia. I’ve been knitting for eight years and designing for over two years. My first love is small, knitted accessories, especially shawls that feature lace in one way or another. I love designs that look complicated but are sweetly simple. My patterns are published on Ravelry and have been included in Knitscene. On Ravelry: Mindy Blog: www.sharppointysticks.typepad.com
