Curriculum vitae

Ramona Danser An enthusiastic, hardworking Spatial Development student from Zaandam. At the moment I am in my fourth year. My study Spatial Development gives insight into the spatial planning of a neighborhood, city, region and rules and legislation of spatial policy. I want to develop myself further as an urban planner who focuses on the greening of cities by means of nature inclusive building, among other things.

Allotmentpark Tuinwijck opening up to a experience of the landscape for everyone Masterplan

My first experience of the allotmentpark Tuinwijck was the feeling of a labyrinth. Everything was turned inwards and i asked myself: ‘‘What is behind the wall?’’. I wanted to give everyone from visitor till owner the same experiences of the landscape behind the allotmentpark. To do this i looked on historical maps and used the historical waterstructure to open up the allotmentpark to the landscape. The new water structure creates new rooms for the landscape inside the park. labyrinth feeling

The lake of the park is the most important part, because of the view of the landscape. But it’s also a place where all the different types of landscape come together. And you can see the views from the private plots.

A creative hidden community

How can the hidden character of the Ceuvel contribute to Amsterdam North? Masterplan

In the collage you can see the atmosphere i have in mind for this place. There can be an art exhibiton inside the open steel constructions in front of the buildings or through the windows or on the squares. In addition, there are restaurants, a community centre and a park where people can meet each other.

B’

Within the sections, the most important component are the meeting places. An example is the first section, which shows the relation between the park and the high building on the edge. The other sections shows the relations between the community and the work places with different type and sizes of meeting points.

Typologies & feeling The Ceuvel is a place between the high buildings, industry & garden villages. It’s a unique creative hidden place with a lot of potentional for Amsterdam North.

• A couple buildings will stay. • The other buildings will be reused to build the new buildings. • Most of this buildings will be creative/innovative businesses, start-ups.

The green structure is followed by the routes. These show you the cycling route and walking routes within the area. The cycling path is a connection between the green structures. If you enter this area by bike you can continu on the walking paths in the green structure or in the public space.

Residents of North: • Mostly young families, age 25-65 Target group: • A new target group for North. • Students & starters or artists. > A space for cheap housing and a place to live near work.

Green structure

In the concept we saw that the Ceuvel is used as a connection between the green structures. In this map you can see that this connection is provided by a public park allong the area. The collective green are spaces for the community. But there can also be visiters. The private space is only for the owners them self. Height

Program: The whole area will bwill contain a mix of creative businesses, art studio’s Event terrain

and the living spaces to get a lively and unique environment. All ages Young families & Cohabit 25-45 25 - 65+ New: Starters, students

The buildings on the edges will be mixed functions with student housing, cafés, shops, art studios. The functions are mainly on the ground floor with housing on top of it. Within the event area, a transition from a tiny house community and houseboats towards more large scale workplaces (will/should) take place. The event terrain is also a place to meet for the community and a place to use their creativity. 8

The buildings on the outside of the area will be higher on the inside. This in order to make a border on the outside to keep the inside area secret. In the illustration above, the hidden character provided is shown.

Vijfhoekpark connected

How can the Vijfoekpark be a connection between Zaandam South and ‘‘Havenstad’’?

Masterplan

Assignment: Vijfhoek park in Zaandam. It´s a small park along the N516. It´s not easily accesible and also not attractive to visit, because of te surroundings. But it´s a park with a lot of potential. Definitly in the future when ´´Havenstad´´ will be developed. It´s located in the middle of all the green structures and i would like facilitate a connection between the park and the two city districts and surroundings.

Analysis & conclusions Infrastructure • Important infrastructure along the park • Well-connected cycling routes • Pedestrian cannot reach the park safely

Current situation

Green structure Waterstructure • Peat soil • Waterflow connected • Little green space in • But this is not visible Zaandam • Park located in the middle of current green structures

The conclusion from the Curren situation (section)s is: • There is a lot of noise from provincial road • Dike is functional - road. • Green strips with only grass • No footpaths along the water or the dike

Concept • North - South will be the route for the residents of ‘‘Havenstad’’ and Zaandam South. • East - West will be the connections of the park with the current green and water structures. • Vijfhoek park will be the center for the green and water structure and the residents. • The road is the biggest barrier for the connection, therefor it needs to be lifted.

Analysis of urban structures

The landscape exercises are not shown here, as I learned less about designing my maps. Landscape was very new to me so I often had to figure out more. I learned a lot about the history of landscapes, geom-

As a Spatial Development student, I am used to analysizing cities by maps. My way of thinking is reflected on the way I make maps of various aspects of places and cities. I showed this during this excersies. I learned to appreciate hand drawing again and found it valuable to learn how to make an analysis and come up with a solution in a short time. The solutions were often simplistic, but because of time constraints there was little space to build thorough analyses. It was good that in these situations I have set my perfectionism aside.

Our houseboats in context

During my studies, I have made models before. But this workshop was very different. By resourcing a subject first, you could try to get the most out of it and then work together for a whole new plan. It’s kind of like working together with multiple disciplines and everyone wants to have their own influence in the plan. SThis has forced us to make compromise, as would normally happen in the work field. We started with the idea that water could be used as a new substrate to build upon and actually wanted to flood the whole area. In the end, people didn’t go along with this idea that much. We compromised on building houses on the water, but we have dropped the idea of building all other functions on water including businesses and markets. But it was a very nice process to go through together. Especially because you’re solely working on one specific project together for one week. It also felt as if everything was possible. We had a lot of ideas for the future and we also thought about making energy by the rotation of the boats. 12

Analysis of city landmarks Deventer

Zaandam

Rotterdam

At the beginning of the minor, we had to visit three cities and made an excursion guide about them. I really enjoyed doing this, arranging everything myself and being responsible for one of the places we visited

limited before the visit, I learned the most during that specific visit. The city hall I investigated was historically a nice mixture of elements. When we were visiting the cities I saw examples of the new buildings in

the same target group or two matching target groups. But also: “What do other residents think of the new buildings that fit with the history of their city?” I came up with the question: ´´What is the im-

was really fun. You develop a different perspective of your own city, by first analyzing the city itself and then visiting it. Because my knowledge on the city of Deventer was

a completely different style right next to the old buildings. This made me wonder how these two worlds could meet without friction. How do you appeal to

pact on the residents when the old and new city come together?´´ This would be something to keep in mind.
