Did you know that wearing sunscreen under your eyes

can prevent dark circles?

Here's how!

Many of us wear sunscreen on our faces but forget to put it under our eyes.

This can cause dark brown circles due to sun damage. Not only that, a lot of cancers occur in the lash and lower lid areas because people don't take the time to protect that skin. The skin around your eyes tends to absorb more UV rays. Not to mention, your eye skin is 10 times thinner than the rest of your skin, making it more susceptible to UV damage thus causing dark circles (brown circles, not blue, which is can be caused by veins ) !

So how do you avoid being a statistic? Apply SPF! Look for a mineralbased sheer formula with ingredients like zinc and titanium dioxide (chemical sunscreens with ingredients like oxybenzone or avobenzone can sometimes irritate and burn your eyes) that offers at least an SPF of 30.

What to do if you have dark circles due to sun damage?

First of all, start wearing sunscreen under your eyes, as well as, all over your face. Talk to your dermatologist or esthetician about a plan of action according to your skin tone. Skin lighteners should not be used by those with medium to dark skin tones. There is a lot of help out there, so it is possible to reverse the damage!
