Challenge a pencil Explorning the pencil was an interestng creative task which resulted in multiple results and ideas. The pencil began to create interesting shavings and seperating into different compartments creating three new materials. The pencil had become decontructed from its origional state and transformed from a pencil into something different.

Challenge a pencil Swapping around to someone elses brief was a challenging task being confronted with someone elses ideas and bringing yourself into their mindset. Exploring the pencil in this way was an interesting technique which forced you to look at the pencil in a dynamic way. It was not just a pencil but became patterned, smashed, cut up, and grated. It was not only just a peice of wood but it became interesting with fascinating textures when grated and new ways of looking at it when the led had being removed.

Limitations To expoloring the properties of paper through paper manipulation using nothing but cutting materials and different papers and to produce either an upper or lower case alphabet. To use our alphabet to present a word. This brief was challenging with only being allowed to use the paper itself with out using glue or anything. However this pushed the exploration of paper on its own which created a more interesting diverse range of ideas. Using pop up paper letters cast fasinating beautiful shadows or hanging tracing paper letters created interesting shdowing with the paper hanging next to it. Letter windows created interesting images as you look through the letter to expolore what was on the other side. Looking at paper and paper alone helped to create diverse responses to the brief engaging with paperon its own rather than other materials.

Limitations Continued expolration of paper and casting shadowing on these pages and the following page. Expoloring shadows that the paper could cast was something that created some really beautiful results as it pushed the paper further than a simple sheet. Folding it created an interesting dynamic alphabet with looking at it from two different ways every other letter down one side and the other letters down the other side. The following page has one of the most effective shadows that was cast as it create multiple shadowing with letters layerd over other letters.

Pinhole camera Our task was to create a matchbox pinhole camera and produce a serises of pinhole photos with a digital equivilant. The pinhole camera was a challenging brief because it created results that at first appear to be really low quality, blured and hard to make out what was what. Looking further into the images it was clear that they did infact hav an interesting style which made them photos look alomost old fashiond. A pinhole camera creates a wider lense and captures much more in the picture than the digital. Although it does not create high quality pictures like the digital it created a set of interesting photos that are unusual and alien to what people class as a photograph.

needle, old film, new film 400 asa 35mm, small matchbox, black marker, nail file, scissor and an aliminium can

Cut out large square in tray and colour in inside of tray black.

3. Cut out smaller square in the middle of the

4. Cut out an aliminuim square bigger than the

previous square just cut. Dent the middle with a biro and file down the excess with nailfile.

â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;How to make a pinhole cameraâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;. To create a peice of information graphics that stands up in its own right as peice of selfcontained communication. Experimenting with a range of different approaches to this task was an effective way to see what worked well and what didnt. Exploring bright colours and looking at simple typography layouts was one effective way. Adding inthe scanned in image of the negative gave some extra dimension rather than a flat peice of text. Simple line drawings is another approach of information graphics using a two colour scheme of blue and grey gave a simple yet effective visual step by step.

Information graphics Continued idea development to my ideas surrounding typography. Mixing up differnt type sizes and styles to create ia visualy interesting information graphic. The numbers and begining and opening are done in colour and the same fone to bring some coehision to the piece. The numbers are in colour as they are the points to direct and guid you to each stage in the production of the camera. Expolring in four differnt colours to see which is most effective is a playful and creative way to develop your ideas and to produce a wider range.

Time and motion On the CD are some videos done in stop motion. Two of them are of bluetak worms, another of bluetack characters, one is of the movement of a burning flame, one is from the paper brief of the distortion of a word, one of the movement at the skatepark and the last is the passing of traffic. They all explore the notion of time and motion with something moveing and being capture as it does so.

Time and motion A serise of images exploring the time and motion of cars, buses and other traffic. Capturing the lights from the moveing traffic was an interesting technique. The size and brightness of the buses created the most interesting images and at one point two buses went through the photo one straight after the other which produced one of the most effective photos with thick streams of light passing through. Cars approaching, stoping and moving around the roundabout also created ghost like images of cars which showed the movement of them with multiple exposures.

Time and motion Visiting the Tate Britan and Rachel Whitereads exhibition was interesting. Personaly from the visit I interprated her work as the time and motion of her traveling around looking at doors, windows, floors and other things. Looking around the house taking photographs of my travels was an intersting thing to do as you donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t normaly look at the floors or study the doors. Using correction fluid to cover areas of the image added an extra dimension to the photograph and rather than it being a simple flat image it became more interesting making you think and look twice about what has being used to cover the photo and why.

Time and motion The time and motion of a firework across thr darkness in the garden creates beautiful images. Some were more exposive whereas some were more straight and simple. By cropping and editing the images it created even more interesting pictures as some you didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t know what it was and others went right though the image.

Time and motion The movement of rice is another experimentation with photography. `the kenetic energy of the rice creates there fasinating results. The rice is captured in different positions as it flys in the air and as the lights are shon on it. The colours that were used played an important part in the composition of the photographs as the reds, purples and pinks were the most effective colours. At first glance these images may be confusing and this makes them eye catching as you donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t expect it to be rice at first. This is what makes it interesting and different and something fun to explore and play with.

Time and motion Capturing the movement of marbles and pool balls created some beautiful images as you can see the balls move as it is exposed at multiple stages by flashing a light numerus times. They create different stills as the balls move and different lines as they are moving from one point to another. You can see it as one balls bounces off another and as the ball moves from one point to another.

Time and motion The movement of light creates beautiful images full of energy. They were created from fairy lights that dim so they were set into place to create the still images and as they dimed they were draged off the picture as if they were being pulled away by strings of light. Again looking at multiple exposures dragging a flower across a black background and flashing lights at it as it moved created a beautiful picture full of energy.

Time and motion Capturing the movement of different objects is something that has being explored in the time and motion breif. One of the most effective images was the movement of the hand which was created from a light shining no it over a long exposure and the hand being twisted and clasped. Capturing the movement of leaves in a controled environment was the best way to do this flashing the light on, letting it expose for a few seconds, turning it off, moving the leaves, turning it back on a repeating a few times. Capturing the movement of a dice was a challenge and very hard to capture only managing to capture these images.

Time and motion The movement of someone/something has being expolored through sports. Capturing the movement in a blur was a new technique to me and it took a while to figure out. Holding the camera still focousing on the background and capturing the image as you subject came into the picture was the way these images were created. There are two images which have three images in each, they were taken from seperate photos capturing different stages of the movement and then taking them into one image.

Old vs new To engage our 18-25 year ikd technology savvy audience. Choosing home cooked meals and takeaway meals to come up with an interesting way to engage the audience. Creating a questionnaire the results showed that people in the past ate more home cooked meals so therefore they stil continue to eat more homecooked meals. However younger people are more likely to choose take aways because they think it is more convenient. From this it lead to the concept that if younger people prefer to eat takeaway meals why not put a home cooked meal in takeaway packaging. Creating fun interesting captions using the ideas of the M&S adverts with the excesive descriptions of the food would create more eye catching adverts to read and to make my audience think.

McSpaghetti Delicious homemade spaghetti with a juicy tomatoe sauce topped with tomatoe chunks

Designing a logo Using the word â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;contrastâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; explore and examine and wide range of visual design ideas to create an apropriate logo. It was created in three stages stage one sketching out many ideas. Stage two to choose six of the best ideas and play around with the exploring differnt versions of it and take it down into 2mmx2mm format. Stage three to rationalise the best image and make it in a four colour and two colour design. The most effective logo created was using dots. It was created in illustrator to create a profesional perfect rounded C shape and to explore and experiment with different colours.
