MOTUL DEBUTS NEW & IMPROVED

300V RACING OIL AT THE 2021 24 HOURS OF LE MANS

M

otul, the French oil company founded in 1853, has announced the new and improved version of its flagship 300V high-performance racing oil at the 2021 24 hours of Le Mans. Arriving 50 years after the original debut of 300V in 1971, the updated Motul 300V builds upon Motul’s legendary ESTER Core® Technology and

comes in an expanded range of viscosities with increased engine protection, reliability and power. “300V is at the core of the Motul brand,” said Motul USA Brand Manager Nolan Browning. “To develop the next generation of this legendary oil we pushed the limits of our capabilities, gathering technical

data from Motul sponsored racing teams to develop a product worthy of the historic 300V name. We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of 300V at Le Mans where new 300V promises to deliver racing success.” Marked by a 50% improvement in shear stability, the new 300V range ensures maximal oil film resistance and consistent oil viscosity, reducing wear to vital engine components like pistons, bearings and connecting rods during periods of extreme use. The high detergent level of new 300V also improves engine cleanliness while increased oxidation and thermal resistance prolongs oil life. Maximal polar adherence of the oil film helps deliver dyno-proven 11

power gains and reduces friction between engine components for improved engine response as well as consistent oil pressure and lubrication. Low oil volatility and evaporation keep oil consumption to a minimum under extreme use conditions. New 300V comes in an expanded range of oil weights for increased compatibility. Motul designed the new low viscosity grade (0W-8 to 5W-30) 300V POWER series for maximum horsepower and torque, optimizing the formula for engines subject to low oil fuel 12

dilution. The new mid viscosity grade (0W-40 to 15W-50) 300V COMPETITION series balances power and reliability and is formulated for engines subject to low oil fuel dilution. Optimized for extreme racing conditions, the new high viscosity grade (10W-60 to 20W-60) 300V LE MANS series, the only oil to bear the prestigious Le Mans name, offers maximum engine reliability with quantifiable performance benefits and is designed specifically for the intensity of endurance racing. Motul has also improved the ecological impact of the new 300V formulas, integrating synthetic organic base stocks into the new

formulas. These base stocks are comprised of non-fossil renewable materials, decreasing Motul’s carbon footprint while upholding its commitment to performance. For 50 years 300V has been Motul’s flagship oil line, trusted by racing teams throughout the world for its tested and proven composition, new 300V looks toward the future of motorsports while offering improved formulations for historic and modern-classic race cars. Motul’s sponsorship agreement with the 24 hours of Le Mans will further assist in the development of advanced lubricants and car care products like new 300V.

Bronco and Bronco Sport SUVs for everything under the sun, from winter fun to rocky desert trails. Ford will show off four custom Broncos and two Bronco Sport SUVs from some of the leading builders in the off-road industry at the Ford booth (#22200). Each features examples from the growing list of Genuine Ford Parts, Ford Licensed Accessories and Ford Performance Parts – plus many more aftermarket parts and custom fabricated applications. “Bronco and Bronco Sport customers love parts and accessories that emphasize performance and off-road lifestyle, so we worked closely with Bronco design and vehicle engineering to deliver the products

to match their individual lifestyle,” said Eric Cin, Ford global director, vehicle personalization, accessories and licensing. “Since the reveal last year, we’ve expanded the line to more than 350 Bronco and Bronco Sport parts and accessories and growing.” All of the Ford components and parts on the SEMA builds – along with the entire catalog of Bronco and Bronco Sport parts and accessories – are now available on the new Ford Accessories website at Accessories.Ford.com. first-ever SEMA 4x4 SUV of the Year Award. Results of the SEMA member vote will be announced Nov. 1. Additional vintage and race Broncos will be on display at Ford Out Front near the main entrance to the Las Vegas Convention Center along with the first-ever Bronco capability course, featuring Bronco Mountain, where attendees and media can experience the off-road capabilities of Bronco and Bronco Sport.

New Accessories Elevate Bronco Performance Of the many new Bronco parts unveiled at SEMA, front and center is a new Ford Performance Parts front drive unit that supports up to a 5.38:1 gearset – a significant off-road performance upgrade in the first year of Bronco production.

CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE

UNVEILS ITS LARGEST, MOST POWERFUL CRATE ENGINE EVER

The ZZ632/1000 is a 632-cubic-inch V-8 delivering 1,004 horsepower

Chevrolet Performance today introduced the ZZ632/1000* crate engine — the largest and most powerful crate engine in the brand’s history. The naturally aspirated 632-cubic-inch V-8 produces 1,004 horsepower and 876 lb-ft of torque. “This is the biggest, baddest crate engine we’ve ever built,” said Russ O’Blenes, GM director of the Performance and Racing Propulsion Team. “The ZZ632 sits at the top of our unparalleled crate engine lineup as the king of performance. It delivers incredible power, and it does it on pump gas.” The Big Block V-8 reaches peak power at 6,600 rpm and revs to a recommended maximum of 7,000 rpm. Fuel is delivered by eight port injectors with the engine breathing through CNC-machined high-flow aluminum cylinder heads featuring symmetrical ports. While Big Blocks have traditionally been designed with variations in port shape from cylinder to cylinder, all eight intake ports of the ZZ632 have the same length, 60

VOLUME: 5 | ISSUE 7 | 2021

volume and layout. Similarly, all of the ZZ632’s exhaust ports are identical. This symmetry ensures individual cylinders all produce similar power. These RS-X Symmetrical Port cylinder heads are named for powertrain engineer Ron Sperry, who designed them as one of his final accomplishments in more than 50 years working on General Motors performance and racing engines. Sperry also introduced symmetrical ports to Chevy’s iconic Small Block V-8 with the Gen III LS1 engine that debuted in the 1997 Chevrolet Corvette. The ZZ632’s iron block shares a mold with Chevrolet Performance’s ZZ572 crate engines, but the castings are machined to accommodate the massive 632-cubic-inch displacement. The bore grows by 0.040 inch compared to the 572-cubic-inch V-8s, with most of the displacement gain coming from a stroke that’s 0.375 inch longer. To provide clearance for that long stroke, engineers modified both the block and the connecting rods. Four-bolt main caps and a forged rotating assembly ensure strength and durability. During development, a single engine endured more than 200 simulated drag strip passes on a dynamometer. The ZZ632/1000 crate engine will be on display at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nov. 2–5. Chevrolet Performance dealers will begin deliveries in early 2022.

Chevrolet Performance ZZ632/1000: • Displacement: 632 cu in (10,348 cc) • Bore x Stroke: 4.60 x 4.75 in • Compression Ratio: 12.0:1
