The business was first established in 1978 as a commission agency representing pioneering ‘Southern Vales’ wineries and since October 2000 has traded as Empire Liquor.
We have been acknowledged as a leader in our market by being nominated for seven consecutive years and winning The Restaurant & Catering S.A. Award twice for Best Product Supplier to the industry in 2008 and 2013.
Our portfolio consists of both ‘Highly Acclaimed’ and future ‘Super Star’ wines from Australia and abroad. These wines consistently achieve high praise from wine writers and critics alike, as well as award recognition in wine shows and expositions around the world.
Apart from long represented local brands like d’Arenberg and Paulett, we are the Australian importer for Bodegas Lagarde (Mendoza, Argentina), Chateau L’Oasis Rose (Provence, France) and Caves Saint Pierre (Rhone Valley, France).
We have enjoyed a long history in wine sales and marketing, but in 1995 began to develop our imported and boutique beer range to add additional interest and value to our product offering.
We have set one specific criteria for our beers - they must be totally sourced from the country of origin, ensuring an authentic product is delivered to market. This has proved to be a most successful decision, as our reputation for specialty beers is highly regarded by our loyal customers.
Since 2002 we have imported the ‘Brew of Bavarian Kings’ – Hofbrau from the home of the Oktoberfest - Munich, Germany.
In March 2013, we were appointed Australian importer by Fuller’s Brewery of London. We now import and manage one the U.K’s most awarded breweries, bringing their famous London Pride Ale, ESB, London Porter and other quality brews in both bottles and kegs to market.
