Hemera Estate, formally known as Ross Estate, is a 20-year-old southern Barossa winery with 110 acres of vines, which were originally developed by Darius Ross and his wife Pauline. This rich land is home to an abundance of quality vines and many different grape varieties, including the defining 101-year-old vine - grenache.
The first vintage made on this site was in 2000 and the semillon from that vintage won the winery its first trophy at the Barossa Wine Show. This wine was later served to the Queen of England’s table during a visit to Adelaide.
The word “Hemera” is of Greek origin, which means “goddess of daylight”. This name was chosen to highlight the fact that our property is one of the first vineyards in the southern Barossa to receive the morning light.
Our new beginning as Hemera Estate will bring a stronger focus to our viticulture, winemaking and overall style. Together, these components will reflect the super premium image to which we strive to deliver.
Alex MacClelland, Hemera Estate Winemaker, is excited about the future of the company. He prides himself on producing wines that have consistency, balance and elegance. We will have stronger focus on luxury wines and a dedication to over deliver on quality for all our wine ranges. Hemera Estate is a five star James Halliday rated winery, focusing on sustaining its future as a premium Barossa winery and the passionate team at Hemera Estate are constantly looking for ways to provide their customers with high quality, premium wines and experiences.
