Transdev Blazefield increases efficiency with Triscan system TRANSDEV Blazefield is enhancing operational efficiency with a new fuel monitoring system provided by Lancashire-based Triscan. A staged roll out of the Triscan solution was implemented, starting with the Harrogate depot and the project included six fuel islands at all Lal1Cashire and Yorkshire sites, all networked to a single point for management reporting. "We have delivered a solution that provides a platform for further integrated improvements," says Triscan managing director, Simon Hollingsworth. "Securing stock and having the ability to record and monitor fuel transactions into specific vehicles is important. However the company is further investigating the provision of clean and accurate data to identify exceptions within the reports. This makes
the management information so much more powerful as action can be taken to resolve specific issues". Transdev Blazefield use the system as an integral component of its month-end operational reporting. Tyre management reports for example are easily provided to the contractor and BSOG claims are made easier to complete in terms of extracting the key information required. Blazefield's operationinvolves 420 vehicles across two regions and the networked fuel management solution enables it to deliver individual depot reports into its overall management reporting system. "Information is provided from what are basically locally operated cost centres," says a Blazefield spokesperson. "A number of initiatives are underway that will ultimately provide
Stagecoach West identifies vandal with help of Look CCTV images WHEN leather seats on Stagecoach West's new prestige Route 94 were slashed, causing over 拢1,400 worth of damage, high resolution, Look CCTV images of the vandal allowed the culprit to be quickly identified and apprehended. Stagecoach Gold Route 94 raises the threshold of service quality for passengers travelling between Cheltenham and Gloucester. The double-deck, Scania Enviro 400s are specified with Lazzarini high-back leather seats. The vehicle's Look CCTV system includes 11 high resolution cameras, five of which are deployed on the upper deck, together with passenger displays on the upper and lower decks. "The vandal looked for seats on the upper deck that he thought were least covered by the cameras, but in so doing he looked into one of the cameras, allowing us to capture a clear image of his face," says Peter Sheldon, engineering director, Stagecoach West. The high quality of the CCTV image allowed the bus operator to produce 7x5in prints which were circulated to staff. Shortly afterwards the vandal was spotted by an inspector boarding a

Fuel economy monitoring device at Busworld 21ST Century's EcoManager system will be on show at Busworld Turkey later this month, the first European outing for the technology. The UK-based technology supplier says that data from the last 12 months showed that across the entire driver base, an average of 12.1 per cent saving was made on fuel and emissions. In some areas the savings were considerably higher. EcoManager is an intelligent telematics device fitted to a vehicle to monitor driving styles and fuel consumption. The system provides detailed feedback to drivers to allow them to identify how they can moderate their driving style to save fuel. EcoManager includes a real time driver's LED display which changes from green to amber to red according to their driving, providing instant efficiency feedback. By altering driver behaviour, 21st Century says that EcoManager also reduces accidents and makes for a more pleasant passenger experience. It is cur~enrh- in use ,vith more than - .000 dri\路ers. X InCity bus deal keeps London moving MICHELIN Fleet Solutions, the specialist tyre management division of Michelin Tyre pic, says that it has increased its share of the major bus fleet market to include vehicles operating on 98 per cent of London bus routes within the M25. The routes are are all supported on pence per mile (PPM) contracts with Michelin. The combined agreements cover more than 8,000 vehicles operating primarily on 245170 R 19.5 and 275170 R22.5 Michelin X InCity tyres. With 2.2 billion passenger trips made across approximately 700 different routes on the London network each year, the combined contract includes single-deck, double-deck, artics and Routemasters still operating on two heritage routes. The combined route mileage is nearly 300 million miles a year. Designed primarily for urban and inter-urban applications, Michelin says that the X InCity performs well in demanding stop/start applications and benefits from a casing that has additional protection against kerb damage with reinforced sidewalls. As part of the contract, Michelin will carry out tyre fitment, maintenance and fleet inspections on every vehicle, ensuring all tyres in service are in good condition. This is done by 60 Michelin staff based full-time in bus depots across London. Inspections also include tyre pressure checks and adjustments to settings recommended by Michelin for each vehicle type. www.michelin.com
