WHAT TO WATCH FOR
THURSDAY
// 6:30 AM CT // ESPN
• An underrated great game this weekend.
• Arizona State is much improved after going 3-9 last year – with a convincing win over Wyoming and win over Mississippi State to start the year.
• Texas State has been one of the most impressive G5 teams early this season and took it to UTSA last week, 49-10. The Bobcats are averaging 495 yards per game – led by former JMU QB Jordan MCloud.
• ASU has been very impressive early this year. They rank 7th in the nation in rushing yards – averaging 293.5 per game. RB Cam Skattebo has 311 yards this season on 7.1 yards per carry.
SATURDAY // 2:30 PM CT // FOX
• Early-season matchup of this classic rivalry.
• Oregon is 2-0 but have not looked like the team everyone expected them to be –defeating Idaho 24-14 and sneaking by Boise State.
• Oregon State might be catching their in-state rivals at the right time, as they are still finding their footing in 2024. The Beavers are coming off of an impressive 21-0 win over new conference member (starting in 2026) San Diego State. The Beavs rank 5th in the FBS with 299.5 rushing yards per game. They face an Oregon defense that just allowed 221 rushing yards to Boise State.
SATURDAY // 6:30 PM CT
// NBC
UCLA's first-ever Big Ten conference game.
• Bruins had a bye week last week after beating Hawai'i 16-13 on island in week one.
• The UCLA defense looked good against the Rainbow Warriors, as they had nine passes defended and 11 tackles-for-loss.
• The Bruins need to find more success on the ground. QB Ethan Garbers led the team with 47 rushing yards – next closest was 13. They rushed for 71 yards on 20 carries.
• The UCLA defense has a tough test, as Indiana has scored 108 points in two games this year.
FRIDAY // 7 PM CT // FOX
• Best game in college football this weekend. Previously scheduled out-of-conference game, so this matchup of Big 12 foes will not have Big 12 implications. Battle of the Wildcats.
• Arizona's 9-game winning streak is the longest active streak in the country.
• Arizona QB Noah Fifita has 595 yards through two games. Standout WR Tetairoa McMillan has 315 yards (including 304 in week one vs. New Mexico).
• K-State RB DJ Giddens has six straight 100-yard games. Him and QB Avery Johnson create an elite rushing tandem in the backfield.
SATURDAY
// 2:30 PM CT // PEACOCK
• Early-season Apple Cup!
• Wazzu has shown multiple explosive offensive elements. They are averaging 53.5 points through two games. The threw for 413 week one vs. Portland State, but then ran for 301 yards last week vs. Texas Tech while throwing for just 115. QB John Mateer rushed 21 times for 197 yards vs. Texas Tech in the 37-16 win.
• Washington lost a ton from last year, including HC Kalen DeBoer to Alabama. New HC Jedd Fisch has the Huskies 2-0. They are averaging 297 yards passing, while only allowing 11 total points to Weber State and Eastern Michigan.
SATURDAY // 6:30 PM
CT // CBS
Great in-state rivalry that produced one of the best games of the season last year.
• Colorado is coming off of a loss at Nebraska. Their offense features maybe the most explosive trio in CFB – QB Shedeur Sanders (689 yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs), WR/CB Travis Hunter (242 yards, 3 TDs) and WR Jimmy Horn Jr. (224 yards, 1 TD).
• The Buffs might look to find more of a rushing attack for balance on offense, as they are rushing for just 37.5 yards per game.
• CSU beat Northern Colorado 38-17 last week after a 52-0 loss to Texas in week one.
