ASPECTS OF Part 1 Loving another

This is the first in a series of 3 articles on love. It is such an important and fundamental emotion that it seems to deserve more than just one piece written on it. It is, after all, who we are in essence, and I hope, that, after reading through each section and then piecing them all together, you may ponder on how you feel about love, and how it shows up in your life, from today onwards. Perhaps you will approach it in a different way – a way that will change your experience of the world forever.

L

ove is what makes the world go round, according to the songs, and finding our “true love” is indeed what most of us seek throughout our lives. It is a universal quest, and yet so many of us end up feeling betrayed, lonely, and disappointed because of our experiences. Many give up and become cynical or weary of the search; for others that search becomes the be all and end all – the one thing that will give their life a sense of completion and purpose. We often seek to fill a gap in our lives by finding someone to love us – we fall in love, we love everything about that person, we are hyped up by the hormonal changes in our bodies to be “blind” to any flaws. This is being “in love” and it is a highly addictive state! But when the hormones settle down, and reality kicks in, we can find ourselves judging the other person, finding them in various ways, perhaps discovering we do not share the same values. That romantic love can fade and we can literally fall out of love! Our human nature and evolutionary needs cause us to seek a partner, after all, it

keeps the planet going! And the rewards of finding the perfect mate are indeed wonderful – the bliss and utter joy of romantic love, which develops and matures into deepening love and companionship as you grow (older) together. However, if we have found love and lost it, for whatever reason, we are often reluctant to actively seek it again, and we can hold ourselves back for fear of being re-experiencing the deep emotional pain that heartbreak brings. Could we be looking through the wrong pair of glasses when we look for love in another? Perhaps we have forgotten, or have never even considered, that we see the world through our own personal filters. These filters are our gender, our culture, our upbringing, our experiences, our beliefs and values, fears and insecurities. And we project these onto others, subconsciously. Who we attract then is not necessarily who we would most desire, (and who would fill the “hole in our soul”). Instead we often get the one who reflects our beliefs and values about the world and ourselves; the one who will ultimately treat us the way we treat ourselves, and thus, we can be very disappointed! If we do not realise what is going on, this becomes an ongoing pattern in our relationships with others. We need to be aware of the fact that we interpret the world through these unconscious filters and then we react, we judge, and things get in the way of us feeling love. I would like to suggest that, as humans, often single mindedly searching for “the one”, we can tend to forget the other aspects of love, those which have the power to turn our lives around and bring joy, love, purpose and fulfilment. Those that have a positive effect on the people and environment around us, in fact, on the whole planet. We will explore these in the next part of this article.

From Red to Our journey on the road to Enlightenment From Red to Gold – As I am writing this we are fast approaching the Summer Solstice, one of the two big turning points within the wheel of the year. On the 21st of June the Sun will be at its highest point in the sky for those on the northern hemisphere and we are celebrating the peak of light and the height of summer within the year. A wonderful time to write about the colours red and gold, the colours of the sun, sunshine, breath taking sunsets, late night, outdoor fires and BBQs with friends and family. Gorgeous, vibrant red poppies standing tall and proud within fields of ripening, golden wheat and barley, glorious golden beaches and sparkling golden lights reflecting on the dancing waves of the sea. It is the time of plenty and abundance, happiness and wholeness. In a symbolic way red and gold also represent the starting and ending point of our soul journey on the earthly plain. As we journey through our lives, we also journey through our chakras ~ we go through the emotions and learning of them all. So let me take you on the journey from red to gold; the ultimate aim of enlightenment. Red is the colour of our base (also called root) chakra and holds the energy of everyday, primeval survival, life itself and grounding. This chakra is our firm rooting within this world and is the colour of our Life Energy. It is

8

the “lowest” chakra within our bodily field and vibrates on this basic level of instinct, reproduction and bodily function and maintenance. Throughout our journey through life, we are experiencing and learning all the time. Our experiences and, more importantly, our reactions to those experiences are part of our soul path. We will all go through red (life force), orange (creativity), yellow (self~worth), green (love), blue (communication), indigo (vision) and violet (transformation) experiences. When we have learnt all we need to learn and are able to work and “just be” at the highest level (the crown chakra), we are vibrating on the golden ray of light. Once we have achieved this, we have found our way to “enlightenment” and we now have the choice whether we want to reincarnate again to help others on their way to enlightenment on this physical plain or whether we want to ascend to the higher realms. Interestingly, Archangel Uriel is the Angel responsible for both these rays ~ the Ruby Ray of Life and Spiritual Light, as well as the Golden Ray of the New Age and the Christ Consciousness.

In a symbolic way red and gold also represent the starting and ending point of our soul journey on the earthly plain.

Gold Red

Red is the colour of heat, life and our basic, primal survival instincts. It is the colour of our base chakra, sexuality, passion, fear, anger, adventure, courage and the life force in general. It is also the colour of imminent danger and warning! Any physical activity very much carries a red energy, as well as any emotion that is impulsive, explosive and intensive. When we go through these red emotions, we experience an acceleration of energy – our hearts beat faster, our skin becomes flushed, and we start to feel warm or even hot, and our energy field is expanding in order to impress or intimidate our opposite human being. Red always brings about a sense of urgency and immediateness and needs to be satisfied in order to survive. It keeps us rooted within this world. Too much red however, will lead to selfishness, recklessness, extreme anger and aggression, whilst a lack of red will make us listless, disinterested and out of touch with reality, we literally lose touch with our base. Archangel Uriel is in charge of the Ruby Ray. On a physical level it influences our Root Chakra and

connects us the element of earth. Uriel’s name means “Fire of God”. Uriel is often depicted holding a scroll – which holds information on your soulpath. You should use more reds around you when: l You are suffering of insecurities, lack of self-esteem and anxieties. l Have lost interest in the world and your life. l Feel tired, drained have are suffering with a general lack of energy.

From Red to Gold Our journey on the road to Enlightenment

Gold

Gold is the colour of abundance in every way – prosperity, quality, radiance, health, wealth, success, riches and luxury. Linked to the male, yang energy, it stands for power, strength, high ranking and status. The golden disc, symbol of the sun, reminds us of the power of the light – without the sun, nothing would grow. The golden laurels are for the winner only, the golden crown for the one who rules. Gold is positive, optimistic and vibrant. In its radiance everything shines and looks beautiful in the warm, healthy, golden glow. A ray of golden sunlight will light up even the darkest of corners and infuse it with beauty and hope. On a spiritual level, gold is associated with the higher ideals – wisdom, compassion, enlightenment and sacred knowledge. It relates to those who have a deep understanding of life, love and the path of ascension of the soul. Ancient Gods, Angels, Buddha, Jesus, the ascended masters – are often depicted with a golden halo or glow (aura), for their soul vibrates at a level of enlightened purity. The Archangels Uriel, Raphael and Aurora all vibrate on and work with the golden ray of peace and

10

enlightenment. Those who vibrate on the golden ray are usually extremely generous, forgiving, compassionate, knowledgeable and optimistic. Too much gold, however, can turn humans into egotistical beings that care about nothing but their material wealth and status. Selfrighteousness, lack of kindness and distrust will taint the character and all generosity and friendliness is lost. Fear of losing ones possessions may take over so much, that obsessions and destructive behaviour sneak in slowly but surely, leaving us utterly distanced and isolated from others. Use more gold in your life if: l You need more a more optimistic outlook on life. l You want to attract and manifest more wealth and abundance into your life. l You want to clear negative energies in and around you. l You want to infuse your life with warmth, spiritual love, friendship and joy – have a greater need of understanding and compassion, especially within difficult, challenging situations.

Self-Healing Meditation with the Golden Ray Light

Make yourself comfortable and begin this meditation by just being still for a few minutes. Concentrate on your breath for a while. Notice how it becomes deeper and more centred. Shift your concentration to your body. Are you relaxed? What is aching? Are you tense? Allow yourself to relax, go through every bit of your body, and relax each part of it. Focus on your mind. Is it still busy? Empty it of thought and just relax. Ground and center yourself. n Now surround yourself with a beautiful field of white light. Ask your guardian angels and guides to protect and guide you. Ask for the presence of the Angels of the Golden Ray, the Ascended Masters of The Golden Ray. n Next imagine a golden tube running the length of your spine and straight into the earth to mother earth’s heart. Imagine the golden tube of light extending from your spine and into the sky. Bring in the Golden Ray of Light from the sky and into your golden tube. Expand this light within until you are the golden light itself. Breathe in Golden Ray of Light from the heart of mother earth and up through to the sky expanding this Golden Light until the Golden light from below and from above are fully merged within you and extending out of you and request that no part of your body or lightbody or etheric body is left out. n Do this often and it will energize and heal you on all levels. n

Ancient Gods, Angels, Buddha, Jesus, the ascended masters – are often depicted with a golden halo or glow (aura), for their soul vibrates at a level of enlightened purity.

Harnessing the

Life Force Energy of Mother Earth The knowledge and lore of growing your own food was once handed down from generation to generation, this wisdom has been devalued. Supermarkets have replaced the once productive gardens and food can now travel thousands of miles before ending up on our table, by this time the life force in such food is rarely alive, it is dead food...

12

T

he best foods come from our own garden, with its life force intact, it is full of flavour and goodness. It is real food and it doesn’t travel miles to reach us or put a strain on the environment. Changing times are drawing us back to the security of the land. We are re-evaluating our needs and at the same time we are reconnecting with the earth. We can all grow food as co-creators working as one with nature, we are not just a part of nature, we are nature. This is our true inheritance and we can produce our own healthy, pure and organic food without disturbing the natural balance of the earth and without destroying the natural balance of our own bodies. Not everyone has a garden, but even without a small patch of land it is possible to produce a good range of vegetables, such as certain varieties of aubergine, beans, beetroot, brassicas, carrot, chard, courgette, cucumber, kohl rabi, leek, lettuce, pepper, potato, radish, salad leaves, salad onion, spinach, squash, tomato and

turnip, which will all grow in containers. Or, you can join an allotment or community garden scheme. There are also community orchard schemes, community hen share schemes and community seed sharing groups in many areas. If one doesn’t exist in your area, you could consider setting one up yourself. If you do have a garden, you will be able to produce a succession of veg, and possibly include soft fruit, fruit trees, herbs and also set aside a wild space for the visiting bees. If your garden consists of a lawn with flower borders, consider replacing it with a productive veg and fruit garden. There are a number of established systems for growing veg, one easy to work system is the bed system – vegetables are gown in narrow permanent beds surrounded by paths. People often use four or six beds and rotate the crops each year.

13

Yearly crops for a six bed system are: 1. Potatoes 2. Pea and bean family 3. Root crops 4. Brassicas 5. Salad and catch crops, onions and shallots 6. Sweetcorn, pumpkins and cucumber. Yearly crops for a four bed system are: 1. Potatoes 2. Legumes 3. Brassicas 4. onions and root vegetables. The beds can be at ground level or they can be raised beds They should not be wider than 1.5m. This will avoid the need for walking on them and compacting the soil, as you will be able to do all the planting and the weeding from the sides. First of all measure your space and make your plan on paper. Bear in mind the sunny and shady areas of your garden, the beds will need to be in the sunny areas and your compost bin or heaps should be in the shady area. If you have enough space the four outer edges of your garden can be home to soft fruit, perennial veg, herbs and the wild area for the visiting bees. If you wish

14

to include a chicken run, work this into your plan. Fruit trees can be included but take care not to shade your beds. One very important thing to consider is your source of water. Rainwater collected in a butt is ideal for watering your garden. Water is a precious resource so minimize watering if possible, covering around your growing crops with a mulch will help the beds to retain moisture and it will also suppress weeds. One of the basics of organic gardening is to feed the soil. Bulky organic manures will build up soil fertility and this can be supplimented with your own compost. Your compost will return valuable nutrients to the earth and allow the natural cycle to continue. When you have finished designing your garden and your

plan is complete, mark out your beds, remembering to make your paths wide enough for your wheelbarrow. If you are making ground level beds, after marking out their position cover the areas with sheets of black plastic held in place with stones or bricks, leave this in place for approx 3 months to kill off any weeds. At the end of this time you will be able to dig over the beds and add your compost. You will now be ready to plant. If you are making raised beds construct the frames using wood, bricks or other suitable material. Once in place cover the inside area of each raised bed with sheets of cardboard or weed suppressing material to form a barrier. Then using a mix of topsoil and compost fill each of the frames. You will now be ready to plant. Choose seed wisely. The traditional heritage variety of organic seed is the best choice, from these plants you will be able to save seed from subsequent years harvests. The readily available F1 seed is not recommended as the plants from saved seed do not come true. In the past everyone saved their own seed, it was their lifeline. If they didn’t save seed they would have had nothing to show for their next harvest

and they would have suffered or even starved. Seed is precious, without it we would not survive. You can sow your seed directly into the earth or into seedtrays and transplant the seedlings when they are large enough to handle. Simply find the right way for yourself, the key to self reliance is finding your own way. You will not only be creating a beautiful and edible garden, you will be creating your own space. This special space will not only provide you with pure and healthy food, it will enable you to move with the natural rhythm of nature and it will connect you to the great spirit of the earth. This truly sacred experience is our real inheritance. Reiki Reiki, the word itself breaks down to Rei (meaning of spirit or Universe) and Ki (meaning Life force energy) so it literally translates to Universal life force energy...

20

Reiki is quite simply channelled unconditional love. This unconditional, non denominational healing love is available to all who wish to use it to help and to heal others and themselves. When working with Reiki I begin by tuning into the universal energy and allowing that energy to flow through me and out through my hands to the client. This gives the client’s energy a boost and can be very helpful in providing a starting point for the body to heal itself. To truly be Reiki it is important to “let go of the ego and simply BE, to take a step back and allow Reiki to flow trusting that the energy will go where it is needed. Sometimes in Reiki we may use

Shanti is one of my personal favourite symbols. It is part of the Usui and Tibetan traditions and is very useful, especially in these changing times. With Shanti we can connect to the past and send healing to the past which in turn heals the Now. I like to think that this symbol enables us to

Heal the Past Embrace the Now Create our future.

symbols as a part of the healing although this is not strictly necessary. There are many different attitudes and beliefs regarding the symbols and their use. Some people regard them as sacred, some regard them as secret whilst others consider them neither secret or sacred. Some Masters believe the symbols hold their own power. Personally I feel that the symbols can be very useful in helping us to tune into certain levels of energy. They can help us to focus our intention. The symbols can help us in our personal journey with Reiki but as with any other attachment we should not become reliant on the use of symbols. As we become more

confident in the use of Reiki energy we may find ourselves growing beyond the need for symbols. A Reiki session can last anything from 20 minutes to an hour depending on what the client needs. Most sessions are about 30 minutes but I always book an hour which gives time to discuss any issues that have surfaced during the session. I am a firm believer that the body has an amazing capacity to repair and heal itself. As a Reiki Practitioner it is my job to provide a safe comfortable environment where the client can relax and connect with self .This enables self healing to take place. Reiki is a very safe form of healing which is suitable for people of all ages and whilst it is not a substitute for conventional medicines, it can be used alongside conventional treatments safely and can often As a Reiki Practitioner it is enhance healing. my job to provide a safe In my practise I comfortable environment work with people of all ages from where the client can relax and children ,to connect with self. This enables teenagers and self healing to take place. adults. Without fail everyone who experiences Reiki says they find it relaxing. This for me is what Reiki is all about. It is providing a space in which the client feels relaxed enough for healing to begin. As Reiki takes place with the client fully clothed it is suitable for everyone, and over the last 20 years since I trained as a Reiki Master practitioner, I can honestly say I have only had one client who claimed not to have gotten anything from it (and even he said he had his first good night’s sleep in a long time). YURTSHIRE A taste of Heaven on Earth

“The healing, creative and spiritual nature of yurts is broadly recognised. Yurts are often used in retreat centres for the healing arts, meditation and spiritual practises. People seem to sleep better in yurts and they often dream more. 22 16

At Yurtshire the concept is simple. Beautiful yurts with comfortable facilities in stunning landscapes. The handcrafted yurts are all constructed with steam bent ash beams and a unique round top solid oak door. The chic interiors are both rustic and cosy. Furnished with a double bed and both a double and single futon means the yurts are ideal for either a couple on a romantic getaway, groups of friends or family just wanting to get away from it all. Set in 3 stunning tranquil locations across Yorkshire and beyond, the yurts are all well spread out to ensure that privacy is paramount. All of the sites and yurts are ‘off grid’ which means guests can really escape the everyday ‘rat race’. Every consideration has been given to the facilities to ensure that your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible whilst not compromising on the enjoyment of staying in the great out-doors. In the true nature of ‘off grid living’ the yurts do not have electricity. Lanterns, candles and torches are provided and together with the warm glow of the wood burning stove, fire pits and barbeque it all adds to the

romantic ambience and truly magical experience of staying in a yurt. Each yurt is self contained, sitting on decking with its own private flushing toilet and hot gas shower, a gas stove, barbeque, pots and pans, internal washing facilities, wardrobe, storage, a shared wood burning hot tub as well as being fully equipped with everything that you should need during your stay. The individual location of each yurt has been carefully considered and placed in an areas of outstanding natural beauty to allow guests to experience peace and rejuvenation surrounded by stunning views across beautiful English countryside. Yoga The journey of the self Some people view yoga as a form of physical exercise which requires one to be very bendy, this is not the case, yoga is for every body. A regular yoga and meditation practice has many benefits and evidence suggests yoga helps to maintain and restore our overall health and wellbeing.

How A Regular Yoga Practice can Help With Pain Management Deep relaxation and meditation are key to helping our bodies unlearn and undo chronic muscle tension patterns, pain sensitivity, stress, and anxiety. Relaxation and meditation have also both been shown to tap into the body’s natural healing and pain-reducing responses. In a nutshell – the aim of Yoga is to cultivate integration of body and mind. Traditional yoga includes; asanas (specific postures, stretches, movements), pranayama (breathing techniques), mindfulness, meditation and relaxation. Yoga encourages self reflection, self awareness and is a wonderful tool for transformation. Many people at some time during their lifetime will encounter some form of ‘lower back’ pain or discomfort. Specialist yoga is one of the most effective and cost-effective treatment

26

options currently available for back pain. The ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ (YfLBs) The programme has been designed specifically for those who have ‘generic’ lower back pain and is 30% more effective for chronic lower back pain than conventional care, according to the largest ever yoga study. Research was led by the University of York and funded by Arthritis Research UK. I have many clients that contact me because of lower back related conditions such as sciatica. If you have ever suffered with lower back pain you will know that it can affect your physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing. Yoga can help you restore trust and teaches you to listen to your body, develop self-awareness and use your inherent intuition to tune in to what your body needs. By taking care of our bodies in a gentle way, yoga can help us make

peace with our bodies and overcome the frustration that can often be the response to chronic pain. As a yoga teacher and yoga therapist, I see clients with many physical, mental and emotional issues. When working on a one to one basis yoga is applied as ‘therapy’ and incorporates restorative yoga, in which the client is placed in a comfortable supported version of a posture. This allows the deep muscles of the inner body to relax and releases deep, chronic tension, which we have often ceased to be aware of because our awareness is on the ‘pain’ making it difficult for our bodies to let go, release and relax. It can also enable the unconscious memories and emotions, behind the tension, to surface and be released and thus to break the cycle maintaining it. How can practising yoga help you with your lower back problem? The

Yoga The journey of the self

Mindful Relaxation / Pain Relieving Practice

(YfHLBs) ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ course empowers and teaches you how to manage and prevent episodes of back pain, in a nutshell, it is a selfmanagement toolkit. As with many treatments it isn’t a ‘quick fix’ although many people report a reduction in their pain and discomfort after the first session. The programme does require commitment from you to practice the yoga postures daily. The postures and sequences are gentle and include an element of relaxation which is a vital component in pain reduction. However, a word of caution over stretching could aggravate lower back conditions particularly if you have not practised yoga or have been physically inactive for some time. I would suggest as with any physical activity to consult your GP and seek a qualified (YfHLB’s) yoga teacher.

Details of the (YfHLBs) course and further information on yoga can be found on Barbara’s website www.yoganorfolk. com along with information on classes and workshops. Alternatively email: barbara.ives@tesco.net or telephone 07788 581 662.

Place a folded towel under the back of the head, this is to ensure your neck does not tilt backwards and encourages the chin to tuck slightly toward the chest. n The knees should be angled at a 90 degrees and your lower spine (sacrum) should be completely relaxed touching the floor. n Place lower legs on the seat of chair (see photo). You may need to jiggle a little to find a comfortable position. n Arms can be placed by your side or on your abdomen above the navel. n If you have a relaxation CD you may find it helpful to listen to this

or use ear phones to shut out any distractions. If using music choose your music carefully - the aim is to relax. n Close your eyes softly and bring your awareness to your breath, observe the inhalation and exhalation of your breath, as you exhale open the mouth slightly and sigh the breath away - repeat several times. As you exhale give yourself permission to relax, surrender to gravity, feel supported by the earth beneath you. n

Feel you can relax and let go of any discomfort. n

Be mindful and view your discomfort as your teacher. n

Do not let your mind control you, allow the breath to flow freely. n

You may like to add visualisation, a colour, see this colour as a healing energy surrounding you with a healing vibration or simply focus on the natural ebb and flow of your breath. Be patient. n

To start with you may only spend 5 minutes in this relaxation posture but over time allow yourself to stay a little longer each time. n To come out of the posture slowly open the eyes, remove your legs from the chair by hugging them towards your chest and roll carefully onto your side, stay for a few breaths before using your arms to push you up gently from the floor. n Because this relaxation develops mindfulness and body mind awareness you may find that in the beginning you become more aware of your discomfort but if you practice this relaxation regularly you will notice a shift in your perception. n

HYPNOTHERAPY “LIFE IS NOT ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS… …BUT LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!”

46

In her final offering of six “Radiant” articles Integrated Therapist Sarah McRobert considers how so-called “talking therapies” can help you to live your life to the full.

T

hose of you who have enjoyed reading my penultimate article will understand the serendipity & sense of “magic” I felt when attending a recent “Mind Body Spirit” event I spied the above words on a hand-painted card created with thoughtfulness & love - so promptly bought several in different colours to pass onto others! I’ll soon need to replenish my stock as I’ve already shared it with several friends learning to live with some of the traumas that life will inevitably bring – children leaving home, relationship breakdown, redundancy & unemployment, developing disability, life-limiting illness, bereavement & loss. They’re just words it costs me nothing to pass on - to them & to you.Words have great power – how often do you open your mouth & hear your parents’ voices or perhaps stop yourself in midsentence as you hear from your own lips words that hindered your personal development? Perhaps you’ve thought or even said, “I’ll never say that to a child”…? Sadly, all too often the words we speak to ourselves are unhelpful self-sabotaging, critical & damaging. I often work with clients who feel afraid to step out, take risks & address the challenges that life will bring; locked into depression, anxiety, stress & unhappiness – victims of & seeking respite from the mistaken beliefs they constantly tell themselves! From our first session together many will begin to feel listened to, validated & supported in a way they might never

have previously experienced - & all because of a few gently challenging or just kind, supportive words. Words spoken in love & for your good, can positively influence you, build your selfesteem, create beliefs, & inspire your dreams, motivating you to achieve your aspirations or seek out new, exciting, unimagined paths forward… Remember how as Christmas approached & (to quote the words Sadly, all too of a song) you “looked to the sky with excited often the words we eyes” – well, now you speak to ourselves know the truth, so you are unhelpful - selfalso know that it is possible to change your sabotaging, critical beliefs & the messages & damaging. you tell yourself. So often an unhelpful belief strongly held since early childhood far outweighs the reality itself, such that only a professional can help you to make the change you really want. So, it might be easy to cynically dismiss a few lines on a card, scan a self-help article or trivialise the value of so-called “talking therapies”, but words written or spoken mindfully & with unconditional positive regard can be healing, liberating & life changing. Go peacefully, with hope in your heart – I wish you well. Sarah McRobert B.Ed (Hons) Hyp.Dip. (Adv.) MNLP www.sarahmcrobert.com

Living the Dream... We all have dreams don’t we? Dreams of what we want to do with our lives, where we want to be...

S

ome people really go for those dreams, fight tooth and nail to achieve them. Others let their dreams slip away as their lives pull them in different directions, or they simply get caught up in the day to day tasks of life and dreams give way to the mundane. I could so easily have been one of the later. Except life had a different plan for me, call it the fates, the will of the Gods, guidance from an unseen power. But whatever we choose to call it, the simple fact is sometimes we’re guided, encouraged or even given a huge kick in the behind to send us in the direction we are truly meant to go. It is following several huge and painful such kicks from the powers that be, that I came to be a self employed crafter, working from a remote farm cottage in one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland. I have done many varied things in my life, but in the end life has pushed me right to where I needed to be. I don’t know if I’ll always be here in this place, but I do know for sure I will always be a crafter. Crafting, making, creating is a part of my soul. Being able to spend my time creating things of beauty was a dream I never truly thought I would

48

fulfil. But after walking a long and sometimes bumpy road to get here, to my amazement here I am. I don’t own a house, I don’t earn a huge amount from my crafts, as I keep my prices to an affordable level. But when I create a thing of beauty and hear the joy in a persons reaction to it, I feel Rich. I am happiest creating when I can let my spirituality speak through my work. My Pagan creations are where my heart truly lies. These creations have an energy and power of there own from a very early stage in creation. I use my insight and knowledge and personal energies to enhance this and create something really special. My Goddess dolls are one of the best examples of this, commissioned Goddess dolls are personalised for the client who has ordered them. The dolls as with most of my other crafts are filled with natural sheep fleece, which I gather from fields and fences. This is then washed and cleaned and carded by hand. The filling is enclosed in a shaped bag which is stitched on my old manual treadle Singer sewing machine. The stitching on the bag is then hand finished. The outer of the dolls are mixed wools, closely hand knitted and then decorated with delicate embroidery and felting. Each Goddess has a design tailored to take into account the things the person I’m making the doll for feels a connection to. The one pictured bellow was for a lovely lady who told me she loved the sun and

49

bumble bees. I incorporated these aspects and expanded to include colours relating to birthstones for her birth sign. And power symbols placing the triple moon near the Goddesses belly to enhance and empower the feminine energy. Symbols and colours of lavender were used to give gentleness and healing, and the mother Goddess here has the sun at here breast to nourish the land. The photographs are one example of a very special and powerful item commissioned and created especially for the person ordering her. I always say to the people who buy my crafts I hope they enjoy owning

50

them as much as I enjoyed making them. If they do then I know by some small way I am contributing some beauty and joy into people’s lives. If that is the case, then that makes me a happy crafter. The Rise of the Warrior GoddesS As a single, independent, 40 something female about to enter the minefield that is ‘Dating’, I find myself with so many unanswered questions...

I am wandering into the dating no mans land without a compass or a map. The rules have changed and are now outdated since our parents generation and my teenage years with the birth of ‘The New Man’. But who is this illusive stranger and where can I get one? I actually quite like the old version but a new and improved man is very appealing indeed. Does this in turn mean that I need to be a ‘New Woman’? What are the prerequisites? I have been told that I am attractive (in a certain light) and my bodywork is in pretty good condition but my lovelife continues to elude me. After 19 months of singledom spent educating myself in spiritual and personal development, I am now ready to reunite with the male species and have some fun. I am happy with my life and myself, I have accomplished the

52

necessary healing and can honestly say that I have no regrets. I am grateful for each and every experience in my past relationships and am ready for a new chapter in my love-life to begin. In readings over the past year, I have been informed that my ‘New Man’ is on his way and my love-life will begin in earnest imminently. I can only assume that he is taking the scenic route or maybe I have met him and am waiting for him to make his move? The big question is - do I wait like a wallflower to be asked for the last dance, for him to pluck up courage to approach me or do I embrace my inner warrior goddess and take the matter into my own hands? I have chosen the latter! I see no point at all in making a man the object of my desires for him to be unaware of my interest or even existence. So with

my armour secure (an extra layer of lipstick) I made my plan of attack.... Do I need to confess that it was by text? I think not, it is the act that is important and not the method used. Last night, after a little Dutch courage from my enthusiastic friend by the name of Rosé (a cheeky little wine I purchased earlier in the day) I contacted a male acquaintance to ask if he was single. I think a nononsense, get to the point approach is best, for me anyway. I have met and spoken to this rather lovely man on a number of occasions but had no idea how he would react. As it was he was highly flattered and very complimentary but he is not available as he is already in a relationship. I would never make a move on someone that is not available and also don’t believe that it is possible to find happiness at the cost of another persons’. If you treat people the way you want to be treated in life - with respect and integrity, you can’t go far wrong. In a word - Karma! A word of advice - before embarking on a quest for love, you need to do the groundwork. You need to be happy by yourself. A relationship should be a compliment to your life and not a desperate life-line to cling to because you are unhappy. No-one is going to fill you up with love, it is always your own love in your own heart that you feel. You already have an infinite supply of love within yourself at this very moment. Don’t give away your power and assign your love to a partner, it is your love that you feel and always will be. You are the source of love. Begin by setting yourself an affirmation to be repeated lots of times during the day eg “I trust and I allow unconditional love into my life, right now!” You will be amazed how positive and confident you begin to feel as you feel the energy of the words moving within your physical body.

The Rise of the Warrior GoddesS

Write a list of qualities, character traits, beliefs and values etc. that you wish the new man to possess. Be as specific as possible, it’s a good start if you are both singing from the same hymn sheet. Also release expectations. This is a 50/50 situation, he may say yes and he may say no. If he says yes whoop whoop, go girl! And if he says no, that is also fine. It is not a reflection on you, you are perfect as you are but if there is not a mutual attraction and connection, then it is better to find out sooner than later. You have moved one step closer to finding the right man for you. By actively taking part in proceedings you are setting the intention to the Universe that you are ready and open to receive a loving relationship that you deserve. The conclusion to my tale, far from feeling disappointed and deflated I felt ecstatic, empowered, a true warrior goddess! Why should men be the only ones to face rejection? It isn’t the end of the world, just one step nearer to the man of my dreams. A man that loves me the way I am, warts and all (I don’t actually have warts), a companion, a salt to my pepper, someone to compliment my life and allow us both the space to grow together and become the best version of ourselves possible.

The road less travelled

The Path of the Druid I am often asked as a Druid, to explain what a Druid is & my beliefs, I often retract from this question and turn it around to not what, but simply why?

56

Ever since I can remember I have loved and felt at home, out & about in the woods, fields, sitting by rivers and just soaking up and communing with the great outdoors. For me personally, I always feel so free and able to express myself when I am outside and not indoors. I have always enjoyed walking and just enjoying all that this beautiful world has to offer. We can let our minds soar, our thoughts wander, we can be healed and its so good for us physically, mentally & spiritually when we go outside. I have often just sat under trees that speak to me; I talk to the flowers, trees, animals, the stars, the elements and everything around. Many times when I have had problems, as we all do, they seem to fade and almost become irrelevant when I am outside. There is no oppression, we can be who we are and we can see and view the world and universe as it is meant to be seen. Basically we become more and truly connected with all that is‌ Spirit, nature as a whole and our ancestors can listen and talk back to us. We can relay messages and achieve a greater and higher understanding. We are able to tap in to source and the holy grail, which to me is the Akashic

57

The road less travelled

The Path of the Druid records. If we just simply connect with our inner selves, thus increasing our spirituality and in turn connecting to all of creation‌ Once we can do this, we can all become at one, both with ourselves/others and all that is. I know a lot of you will all be feeling you have connected with the universe and you may be treading another belief/faith or religion and yes, many other faiths work and can achieve the same goal. So again - why Druidry? As a Druid, I like and always have wanted to learn as much about everything that I can, I see my mind as a sponge; I want and need to soak up all the information and intricate workings, that I can. I personally believe this is the reason we are all here, to learn, share and pass on as much knowledge & wisdom as we can. We have all been here before and learnt it, we just have to now, learn it again and maybe tread a different path. Simply because each time we come here, we have lessons to learn and once we can shake off the restrictive blinkers, which modern day society inflicts upon us all, we can realise an infinite journey of the mind & soul. Then we can begin our own personal journey of evolution of the self. I believe we should all take a step back, to move forward, looking at the bigger picture of all things. We should

58

train our minds to not judge, to not jump to conclusions. We should just mentally sit back & ask ourselves, why? As spiritual beings all having a human existence this is so vital to allow our bodies physically, mentally & spiritually to move on and maybe in doing this, we can become clearer in all that we do and undertake. Almost like watching the night sky, we are looking at the whole situation, it is as if we can see all the intricacies and inner workings. It’s no good just watching a segment and then making a sudden rash choice or decision based on that - we simply have to look at it all. Then we may be able to see where, when, how, who and why we are all here? We may never know all of this, but on our journey on and through this amazing life. If we can achieve some of this, then surely we are on our way to becoming the people we want to and the change we would all like to be and also bring about in the world today. So, as I said earlier for me, its not what is Druidry, its simply why? Brightest of blessings to each and everyone of you. Thank-you.

Tarot The

Whilst the Strength card denotes our mental, physical and spiritual resources that we need to draw upon, in order to transcend the challenges of life, the Hermit card signifies a need for a time of quiet reflection to gain clarity and growth both mentally and spiritually.

Strength

The number 8 The card of Strength is normally portrayed by a strong female with a lion by her side. The lion signifies strength and courage and the female is the gentle side of courage, the ability to meet our fears headlong in a gentle nurturing way. She is also a symbol of renewed self confidence. The human and animal side by side is symbolic of the uniting and balancing of our animal and spiritual instincts. This card reminds us that we have the strength to overcome our fears and do what needs to be done no matter how painful it may seem. There may be a need to forgive someone. It brings us power with awareness that can help with the faith that needs to be acquired and used, the faith that we are always cared for and protected throughout our journey. The energy is now available to overcome all difficulties and move forward on our spiritual path.

60

When the Strength card appears in a reading it is time to transcend the fears that are blocking the way forward. Gentleness and compassion are needed in the current situation. Leadership qualities may be needed at this time. There may be a need to overcome temptation and say no!inner guide for the answers, your new knowledge is being put to the test. The card of The Lovers indicates learning about ourselves through our relationships with others.

The Hermit

The number 9 The card of the Hermit is normally portrayed by a wise old man alone in silence holding a lantern. This is significant of going within to find the answers. The need for introspection and quiet solitude is necessary to assimilate the newly acquired knowledge and understanding of the self. The lantern signifies the need to shine a light on the dark corners of the soul that up until now we have been unaware of. The unknown is starting to surface and come to light. This card reminds us that there is a need for introspection and analysis. It is not a time for action or socialising but a time for peace and solitude when we can look at everything that we have learned so far on our journey. We are now able to gain clarity and shine light on things that were mysterious and confusing. When the Hermit card appears it is time to be alone, rest and contemplate. This is a special time when we are given the opportunity to get to know and accept the self. There are questions within the mind that only our soul searching can answer. Enjoy the solitude, stay away from negative situations and people and get to truly now yourself.

Tarot The

Life is a cycle of change, when one period comes to an end another begins bringing with it a need to cope with fresh opportunities and life experiences. In the Wheel of Fortune card the Fool experiences fate and karma. Issues of fairness, moderation and balance are highlighted by the arrival of the card of Justice.

Wheel of Fortune

The number 10 The image of the Wheel of Fortune is portrayed by a wheel with symbols and/ or four figures around it. It signifies the wheel of karma slowly turning and the figures represent the four directions of the compass, north, south, east and west. The wheel shows us that we have no control over current circumstances and we must go with the flow of the forces set in motion. The Fool may feel like he is caught up in a never ending cycle of events. There seems to be no firm direction at present. This card reminds us that change is inevitable and that we need to be honest with ourselves and go with the flow. There may be emotional turmoil as we go through the early stages of change. Letting go of the old is the only way forward for the soul at this time. New experiences are available in all areas of your life and using honesty in all your dealings is the only way forward. You may feel that areas of your life are going around in circles. It is time to be really honest with yourself and others. Let go of control and expectation of an outcome. Seek happiness at this and enjoy the new experiences that are coming your way. It is time to let go of old burdens and ties that no longer serve the soul.

62

Beginnings and Fairness Justice

The number 11 The card of Justice is portrayed by a young woman sitting between two pillars holding a set of scales. This card signifies a need to balance the opposing forces of positive and negative. There is a need for balance in all areas of your life. The Fool may be swinging between positive and negative polarities and need to find balance between the two. Legal matters and documents may be in the offing and must be examined thoroughly before signing. Karmic action and reaction are strongly at play in your life, truth must be foremost, truth with yourself and others. It is important to seek justice and truth in business and personal affairs. There may be a fair resolution to a legal matter or a settlement at this time. Old karma will be removed by kindness and caring attitudes. Balance is really important to you right now. Ensure that you are calm and focused in all of your dealings.

Messages from The Angels by Trish Abbott Floating in the clear blue sky I gaze upon an angel’s wing To most it’s just a passing cloud; a shape, and not a special thing To me the pictures framed by blue, are signs from angels up above Their lovely shapes bring hope and joy, sent down to us with warmth and love And sometimes I see feather shapes, they float in view for all to see A message from someone so dear? A sign to say “Its’ really me” I know they watch to keep us safe, and guide us as we find our way A picture sign to show they care, a loving hug just makes our day And all too soon they fade, or change to other shapes that paint the sky But keep on looking. Music The language of the Soul

C

His initiation into the church choir was the beginning of a serendipitous musical journey that spans over 30 years. From the inspiration and musical grounding of the church choir Chris then went on to embark onto his formal musical education.

The sun seems to be shining that little bit more now and hopefully everybody has been able to enjoy the sunshine with lovely walks, BQ`s and chilling in the rays. The sun always seems to make us feel better no matter what we are doing.

Merry we meet once again. By the time that you will read this the wheel will have turned once more and the summer solstice will have been and gone. This is usually appears around the 20th to the 23rd of June. This particular year it happens to have been on the 21st , this is when we have the longest day and the shortest night. The sun is at its height of power, we are now half way through our year. Many of us will have stayed up through the night to meet the rising sun. It is an important date to those who worship at the sacred

by the village. Mid summers eve has always been a time of connecting with the world of the fae, who, themselves would be concerned with there own merrymaking on this date! This is a festival of dance and song, to be grateful for what has been and what is to come I hope that your mid summer was also one of merriment. And so to another turn of the wheel which brings us to the festival of Lughnasadh. Also known as the “festival of gathering in” and this is celebrated on the 31st of July. The summer season should be at its full power by this time and now it is the point in the year when the harvest is

In times gone, bonfires were lit upon the hills and cartwheels with straw wrapped around them were set fire to and rolled down the hillsides. These were called fate wheels, how well they rolled and blazed gave indication of how good the harvest to be collected was going to be. The better they blazed and the further that they rolled, a good harvest should be had

now ready to begin being cut and brought in. This celebration could also be classed as the first of the harvest festivals. Fires were lit at this time of the year to pay honour to the “Corn mother” as she gives birth to the harvest that would be kept to see everybody through the coming winter months, but also for the seeds to be used for the following year to ensure another bountiful harvest for the village. The Grain mother, Barley mother and the Corn mother are

71

The fire had a purpose as people of the village would jump the sacred fire for purification, fertility and cleansing, couples would jump together to show union to one another. all symbols of the mother aspect of the triple goddess, she who brings forth “life“. Another goddess that was worshipped at this time was Demeter, it is said that her energy is in the 1st and last sheath of corn to be cut at the harvest. Demeter is a goddess that is known for the founding of agriculture but also as Persephone’s mother, Persephone being tricked by Hades - God of the underworld so that she had to spend 6 months of the year with Hades and 6 with her mother Demeter. The waxing and the waning of the year. Homes and villages would lay altars out full of bread, grains, fruits, berries and nuts, corn dollies were made and all placed to respect and honour the Corn mother. Lugh or Lug was the name of the Celtic god who was the sun king. According to myth it is as this time now dies with the waning of the year, that the sun kings energy enters into the harvest only to be reborn once again as the seeds start to germinate the following year.

72

This celebration now marks the start of the waning part of our wheel, the wheel has turned for us to start making plans for the winter. This is a time for reflection, finishing off those projects that have been started but not quite finished, for gathering and making plans for the coming months and to stock up the store cupboards. Honour what food is presented and how it has made its way to you. Let it nourish you. Enjoy the garden and its beauty and get ready for the next transformation. Until once more we meet

Spell page A SPELL FOR HELP WITH FINANCES This months spell work is to help with boosting finances, something that we could all need a little bit of help with. This spell work has been used by many, in many different ways – an oldie but a goody! 1. Take a cheque and in the pay line put your name. 2. Now think about how much money you would like… 3. Hold the cheque in your hands and visualise that you all ready have the money and see and feel how happy this has made you. You really need to feel that feeling of being happy. The larger the amount the more time the universe is going to need to bring it in, so don’t get to greedy here. 4. If you would like the money for a new pair of shoes write that amount. If it is enough to pay a bill off write that amount, you can always work your way up. So it should be looking something like: A Smith £36.00 And sign it: The Universe

Place in an envelope and send it to yourself, when you receive it place it in your wallet or purse and wait for the money to come in.

This Middle Eastern fruit is now known to combat heart disease, as well as containing three times as many cancerfighting antioxidants as green tea. It is believed to be particularly effective in warding off prostate and breast cancer.

In 2008, the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry ranked Pomegranate Juice as healthiest of all fruit juices.

SUPERFOODS

POMEGRANATE As well as tasting great, pomegranates have been used for medicinal purposes since ancient times. They are one of the fruits brought to Moses to show the promised land of Israel was rich and fertile. They are one of the seven types of foods in the Hebrew Bible said to be ‘unique and special products’ of the Land of Israel.

Pomegranates have effective antibacterial properties and have also been shown to alleviate the symptoms of osteoarthritis.

Many scholars believe that it was a pomegranate – not an apple - that tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden? The pomegranate is revered in many countries.

As well as being rich in vitamins A, C and E, pomegranates are a good source of iron, which helps the blood maintain an effective supply of oxygen to the body. A good source of iron for pregnant women.

Rich in brain-boosting vitamin E, an antioxidant which can reduce ageing in the brain, and may help prevent or slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

One of nature’s richest sources of free-radical scavenging anti-oxidants, pomegranates are effective in preventing degenerative and inflammatory based diseases such as heart disease and arthritis.

Pomegranates have high levels of vitamin C, which can help achieve healthy skin, teeth, bones and connective tissue.

Pomegranates are an excellent source of polyphenols, which help the body rid itself of tannins, which lower blood pressure and stimulate the immune system; and anthocyanins, which reduce inflammation and protect blood vessels.

Stomach upsets, conjunctivitis and haemorrhoids are among the conditions the fruit was believed to cure. Only in recent years have health studies revealed its full potential.

Whole pomegranate seeds contain a good amount of fiber, too, which is essential for proper digestive and heart health.

Animal Healing an exchange of energy In our second in a series Niki Senior – animal healer, continues to share her vast experience and knowledge in a wonderful poignant case study, with a particular personal connection...

As I approached the livery yard my stomach flipped. I’d been working as a professional Animal Therapist for over ten years, so I couldn’t really understand how uneasy, yet excited I felt. When Mrs W had booked me to give an Animal healing session 3 weeks prior, I knew that this wasn’t going to be a straightforward session. I try not to place any preconceived ideas about any animal client I treat, as being an Animal Therapist is about keeping an open heart as well as an open mind. However, I just knew this healing session would be different. I stepped out of the car and was met by a Lady aged about 60. What was most odd was the fact that she remarked “There’s someone I would like you to meet”. I started to become nervous, almost like I was a youngster again on a first date. Approaching the stable block I stopped to take a few deep

76

breaths. I walked past about 6 horses and approached the last stable. For some reason I stopped short and I daren’t look inside it. Instead I proceeded to take out the consultation form from my case. As Mrs W was informing me of all the details in relation to her horse, everything surrounding me became a little disjointed. As I gathered my thoughts I felt an overwhelming warmth which encompassed so much love. I felt deep peace like never before. I felt like I had ‘come home’. I looked up and saw the most amazing horse looking back at me from over the stable door. “Here’s your boy, this is Dream” remarked Mrs W. A rather odd thing to say, but somehow I knew exactly what she meant. Dream’s eyes widened and they never left my gaze, we were connected. I had been booked to give Dream emotional healing as Mrs W felt that there had

always been a ‘missing link’ in his life. Almost as if he was searching for something. As I dowsed over the appropriate crystals to select, Mrs W told me how she had stumbled across my website quite by accident, yet as soon as she saw my photograph, Dream popped into her head and she felt like the missing link was about to be solved by my visit. How right she was. I selected 5 crystals: Chrysanthemum Stone, Jade, Clear Quartz, Atlantisite & Black Calcite. I showed each one in turn to Dream and he gave me a look and an approving head nod. I cleansed my hands, grounded myself and connected to Dream at soul level. Placing each crystal and channelling the energy into Dreams aura felt like the pages of a book being turned. His butterfly chakra; located just to the right of the shoulder, was

“The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man” Charles Darwin, English naturalist (1809–1882)

pulsing with energy as I held the Jade crystal on the area. My third eye and crown chakras started to pulsate and whirl and I felt that time had become suspended. I circled the Chrysanthemum Stone on his heart centre. I could feel the energy rhythmically expanding his whole body. I knew there was a blockage of energy being cleared around his heart and third eye chakras. As I look down his body I had become encapsulated within his auric field. I wasn’t prepared for the information I was about to receive next: I saw myself sat upon a majestic chestnut horse riding through a dense forest. The horse was heavy and laden with my belongings. The energy felt tense. Within the vision something became loose from the horses paniers. I turned the horse around to retrieve the lost item. As we did so the horse fell

to the ground. My horse had been shot with several arrows, yet I could see nobody. The Chrysanthemum stone that I had been holding dropped from my hand. Dreams’ muscles became taught. He then let out an almighty sigh and began to shake his head. I knew I must maintain contact. The vision heard me repeating an obscure word or name - ‘Ashleeng’. I sat on the woodland floor, sobbing with the sight of my dying horse. I became tearful and I opened my eyes to look at Dream. I took out a piece of clear Quartz from my pocket and placed it against his butterfly chakra. A shiver coursed through the whole of his body. Mrs W found herself in tears. I moved away from Dream to ground his energy. This was the most profound healing session that I had ever encountered. Dream looked at his human companion and me with an ‘all

knowing’ look. It was upon my return home that I investigated the word Ashleeng. I was moved to find that Ashleeng is actually Aisling. What’s more, the word is Celtic and means Dream….. Shortly after this healing session I was notified that Mrs W had passed away suddenly. It felt like it was her mission to find the right healing she could for Dream. It all began to make sense. Dream was my old horse from my past life in medieval Wales. The years was 1256. His soul has remained with me for over 800 years… and Dream and Mrs W knew all about it.

Fortune favours the brave By Jenny Eaton, Eos Programme Director

This month I’ve been exploring the concept of courage. I run a personal development programme for women, and last month a group of our participants went to Go Ape in Thetford and walked the high ropes, shinned up ladders and flew down zip wires – it was an exhilarating experience; literally feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Several of the women have told me that since then they have had the courage do things they’d have been too nervous to try before. Once we stretch our courage muscles we find ourselves getting stronger daily, more able to take on life’s challenges and thrilling adventures! I read a great quote from Meg Cabot - “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that

78

something else is more important than fear.” I’m sure many of you would take on a 6ft bloke if he tried to grab one of your children; your fear would be so much less important than your child’s safety and you would simply take action. When people do ‘heroic’ things and are interviewed afterwards, they often say that they don’t consider themselves to be brave – they simply responded in the moment. Isn’t it sad that too often we only see what we’re made of when something drastic or dreadful happens? Why not harness your innate courage on a daily basis? Imagine the impact it could have on your work / relationships / daily life? Imagine the different choices you might make if not held back by fear?

So how can we embrace our inner courage and use it regularly? Here are some Eos top tips…

1

Be clear about what you’d like to achieve. Think of something juicy and thrilling that makes your heart beat faster. Start making plans to make this a reality.

2

Use a regular affirmation to build your sense of courage – “I am courageous and strong.” Repeat this many times daily. You will begin to ‘brainwash’ yourself into believing it and it will begin to become your reality.

3

Spend time visualising this goal as already achieved; imagine yourself feeling positive and strong. This is just daydreaming – it’s amazing how we get told off for this at school, when it’s a powerful tool for manifesting what you want in life.

4 5

Get an image of your goal up on the fridge / loo wall / screen saver etc.

Every morning ask yourself – “What can I do today to bring me a step closer to my goal? Can I harness my inner courage?”

6

Remember that when we begin to change and grow, things can feel strange and uncomfortable sometimes – this is a good sign! You’ll soon create a new ‘normal’ for yourself – then you’ll be ready to step up to even greater challenges and adventures. This month – be courageous! After all, you probably have no idea of what you’re capable of – and sadly, most people don’t ever try to find out. The Art of

Soul Companions

Recapitulation/ emptying the heart is a method, a self directed discipline that can be directed by acknowledging and bearing witness to a clients healing process at a soul level. This is a method, a self directed discipline that can be facilitated by acknowledging and bearing witness to a clients healing process at soul level. It is a self empowering technique that enables an individual to repair damage in their own energy body. This can include energy drain or damage that comes from soul loss or soul fragmentation, mental complexes, attachments and addictions. These may well have built up over the years, stored within the cellular memory bank in all areas of the physical body, often spilling over into the luminous energy field which encompasses the emotional, mental and etheric bodies. It is a method that can repair and empower the spirit to become more whole and healed whilst the physical body is dying from this life/dimension/ world. Recapitulation is very effective when combined with other healing processes such as Shamanic soul retrieval, spirit releasement and soul counselling. However, when a person is in the space of ‘acceptance’ of their death, I feel a method I call simply ‘emptying the heart’, to be a proven way of giving

80

permission for the dying person to ‘let go’ of any negative feelings and emotions that may be attached to secrets and memories stored in the subconscious. When creating a safe and secure space, for a client to bare their soul, feelings and emotions long buried can be effectively released. This in turn assists the physical body to relax, giving rise to a peaceful and tranquil heart. Recapitulation breaks the basic assumptions we have accepted throughout our lives. As long as these assumptions remain intact our memories of our past and the energy they contain have clouded our lives and therefore can create foggy energy at the point of physical death. When we gently push to release the wounds held within that energy the physical body can relax and in turn the spirit is soothed allowing for a smoother journey, before, during and after releasing from the physical, and journeying on... Utilising both methods of Recapitulation and Emptying the Heart can recover power and energy that we have given away to people, places and things. These techniques recognise that we have luminous energy ‘filaments’ or ‘cords’ extending from ourselves to others. These connections form where we direct our attention and energy outward, they can also form when others place their attention or energy on us. It’s important to decide which positive energetic connections should be kept and which overdue stagnant energy to gently release and transmute into the ether, in order for that energy not travel on with the spirit

Soul Midwifery

For The Dying of the soon to be discarnate soul. This frees up the energetic body to travel unencumbered, in a ‘lightness of being’. The following is a list of a few of the events in a lifetime (and any that may have indeed bled through from past lifetimes encompassing soul fragments/ wounds and/or old/stagnant energy): lP romises/vows you made that changed your life lA greements or commitments that you made with yourself/family/religion/ governments/god l Sexual experiences lE vents and situations where you felt shame/fear/emotional pain lT imes you have felt that you did not belong lT hings that you have lost and you cannot get over lT houghts, feelings and memories hidden from others lP arts of yourself you no longer express or feel lE vents in which you sabotaged or betrayed yourself/made you anxious/ where you felt rejection l Times or events where you may have been cruel to animals/plants/people lT imes you may have been judgmental to others lP eople that you have loved who hurt you lT hings you have always wanted but never had lT hings that make you angry l Legal issues you have faced l People you dislike l All other ‘things’ that you posses l Obligations that you have accepted

It is important to understand that we are only looking to extract any heavy/ negative/old and stagnant energy from personal and collective experiences and situations, whereby there has been some sort of guilt, shame, or anger. Healthy relations with friends and family members will always be recognised and no energy will be extracted or cords cut from these, as this is totally unnecessary. Recapitulation of events that hold a lot of unresolved energy is to be worked on rather than trivial details that took place during a life. We must always remember that the purpose of living on the Earth Plane is to gain experience, make and learn from choices and acquire wisdom and understanding. These healing modalities are not meant to change all the lessons throughout our physical life – rather, it is meant to be used as a healing process to correct the effect of injuries to the energetic body – our spirit. Subsequently, as we forgive and honour all lessons learnt from a unique and individual path, on the wheel of life, each precious soul is released to fly free, in pure love towards bright white light – their ‘Soul Pod’ and home.

Citrine The Stone of For centuries crystals have been worn as talismans for bothwomen and men for decoration and protection, guarding against harm and conveying powerful energies to the wearer.

C

itrine is yellow and the colours range from pale to golden yellow. It is specifically related to the solar plexus and therefore with all issues governing the stomach area, the ego, confidence and emotions. It is known as the “success stone” as it is thought to promote success, prosperity and abundance. The practice of placing citrine in a cash register has given this stone the name “the merchant’s stone”. Taking this in account, it’s an ideal crystal to leave in your purse to attract good fortune. Natural citrine is said to contain solidified sunlight and therefore radiates positive energy and never

82

absorbs negativity so will not need to be cleansed. Natural citrine has all the same benefits as heat treated citrine but the energies are more powerful though don’t have as much of an instant effect and take longer to be absorbed. Emotionally, it can help you to relax and take some time out from work to concentrate on revitalizing yourself. It is particularly helpful for workaholics and stress arising from addictive behavior i.e. gambling, alcoholism. In addition it can be very effective against depression (due to the sunshine element), overcoming repressed childhood issues and breaking cycles of worry and guilt.

CRYSTALS Use this basic mediation with the crystal: Either sit holding a piece of citrine or lie down and place over your solar plexus chakra (just above your naval). l

Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing, breathe in deeply and then slowly release repeating five times. l

Success

Turn your attention to your crown chakra at the top of your head and visualize the colour yellow entering your crown and slowly moving down your entire body to your feet and then back up to the top of your head. l

Imagine this yellow energy expanding from your body and surrounding you until you are enveloped in a bubble of yellow light. l

Focusing on your yellow chakra, feel what emotions or sensations you experience and allow them to pass and asking Archangel Raphael to assist with healing your solar plexus chakra. l

Continue to breathe deeply for 5 minutes and then slowly open your eyes and become aware of your surroundings again. l

In general is will balance and settle all your emotions providing a solid base to make decisions from. As it can repel negativity it is useful to be used as a shield against jealously and malicious behavior. It will also attract love and protect against those who may break your heart – something I’m sure everyone would like to avoid! In situations where you need a confidence boost such as an interview/ meeting or giving a presentation carry this crystal with you and tune into it’s healing properties before the event. To do this hold the citrine close to your mouth and breathe in softly seven times, then blow the citrine breath

outwards into your aura. Repeat this two or three times so that you feel encased by the positive, confident energy. On a physical level citrine is excellent for relieving skin problems and allergies aswell as liver problems, short term memory loss, fibromyalgia, gall bladder and digestive problems, any issues with your back, nausea and morning sickness. This crystal is ideal to use in meditation due to its balancing, uplifting qualities, to help overcome deep rooted addictive behavior and to restore your confidence. A Wish to feel safe while travelling

M

y Wishes use your personal energy together with the energy and power of Mother Earth and the Universe, these energies combine to activate your Wish. This Wish is for any form of travel you may be taking, train, car, coach, plane, boat or any other means of transport. It is wonderful to travel to new places sightseeing and experiencing different cultures. But, does the travel worry you? Are you an anxious traveller? I know I am. I developed this Wish as a way of calming the mind, enjoying the journey, and looking forward to travel with joy. If you already enjoy any travel you take, this Wish will help you to feel relaxed, protected and secure during your journey. This Wish is written with you as a passenger, if you are going to be the driver you will need to follow all of the instructions the evening before the journey and keep the crystals in your pocket during the journey. You can refresh the Wish before you set off. Details of refreshing are at the end of the Wish instructions.

84

What you will need l 2

small crystals – Amethyst, for safe travel – Black tourmaline, for protection l A small pouch or box to keep your crystals in

In your mind say the Wish:

What you need to do

The Wish

The night before, rinse your crystals under running water and then leave them to dry outside in the elements. If it is raining dry them inside on the window ledge with the window open a little. Put your crystals into a pouch or small box.

When you are settled and ready l

protecting spiral, it continues to slowly turn with you sitting safely in the centre. Relax and enjoy its healing and calming energy.

to begin your journey: l Hold your crystals in your left hand, then rest your hand over your solar plexus (bellybutton area). It is best not to cross your legs, place both feet comfortably on the floor. Relax. l As we often do with my wishes we are going to enter a powerful visualisation. You can close your eyes or leave them open, the finished effect will be the same. l As you settle into your seat for your journey to begin to slow your breathing. l To do this count in your head, but only count up to two. One…. Two…. One….Two…. One….. Two….. One…. Two…. Continue until you feel calm and relaxed, this can take a couple of minutes. l As you hold your crystals visualise them emitting long strands of colour, the strands intertwine and wrap around each other for about 20cm (6”) and then they separate into two branches. One strand goes from your hand gently down deep into the earth, the other strand goes from your hand slowly rising high up into the universe. Visualise these long, strong unbreakable strands and their beautiful colours. l You are in between the strands. You feel strong, safe and supported by both Mother Earth and the Universe. l Now visualise a slow clockwise spiral of colour beginning at your toes, turning gently around your body and going up and over the top of your head. You may see the colours of your crystals or you may see different colours. l You are in the middle of this loving and

“As I travel far or near. As this journey brings me here. My trust, my faith are in my hand, safe arrival as I planned.” l Having

completed the visualisation and Wish, you should feel safe, relaxed and calm as you continue on your journey. l If you are travelling in a way which allows you to, you can get up and move around, the protective barrier you have put in place will not move until you arrive at your destination. l If you find you get anxious during the journey just place your crystals in your hand and place your hand over your solar plexus once more, the energy and Wish power which you have stored in them will be released into your hand and through your body. l When you arrive at your destination, simply visualise the colourful spiral slowly going down and going back under your toes. Place your crystals in your luggage and say a silent thank you for their help. l To refresh the Wish at any time. Hold your crystals in your hand and over your solar plexus. Visualise those beautiful strands of colour connecting you to Mother Earth and the Universe, remember and visualise the feelings of safety and protection you felt while you were in your original visualisation. Bright travel blessings as you enjoy your journey wherever it may take you. Ursula x Copyright © Ursula Oak 2013 Ursula is a natural psychic and author.
