LANDSCAPE BRIDGE

A bridge is always a space in between. An scape to another place. The Land-Scape bridge connects the A33 road to CRIL, in the Algés - Trafaria corridor, Lisbon, Portugal. The project was designed on two levels, consisting of a suspended tunnel - regular and rectilinear - for cars and buses and a fluid and dynamic route for pedestrians and cyclists, encouraging the use of this modal. The main route corresponds to a 2 km line suspended over the Tagus River along which conceptual buffers were designed - eatscape, thinkscape, playscape, waterscape, artscape and gatherspace crossing the suspended tunnel by the side, above and below. The suspended tunnel has a translucent fence, turning the main attention to the route of pedestrians and cyclists, which has a color palette inspired by the classic colors derived from the typical Portuguese tile. A mixed structure is proposed, consisting of concrete slabs based on steel slots embedded in a side concrete beam from which risers depart a tossed structure that makes reference to a sardine, also a typical Portuguese symbol.

The main objective is to change the idea that a bridge is just a place of passage, but to see it as an object of intercession and leisure, a space to transform cities and society.
