Railey Realty Agents Close Highest Sale in Nearly a Decade

Railey Realty co-owner and agent Russell Bounds and agent Rachel Bruch represented the parties involved in the largest residential real estate sale in Garrett County since 2010. The property, located in the Holy Cross community, closed for $3.3M in April. There have only been two other residential sales over $3M, both homes were listed by Railey Realty agents.

Your 1st Choice in Real Estate Wisp Resort Hires New General Manager Wisp Resort General Manager Jerry Geisler announced his plans to retire following more than 45 years of service at the resort. Jerry’s career at Wisp began in 1974 working as a bartender. From there, he would work just about every job on the resort, from a waiter to a ski instructor to the human resources manager. In 1982, Geisler was promoted to Operations Manager. Six years ago, after Wisp Resort changed hands to Pacific Group Resorts, Geisler was promoted to General Manager. With Jerry at the helm and Pacific Group Resorts breathing new life in Wisp Resort, the progress in the last several years has been wonderful. Wisp Resort has been busy - renovating their newly dubbed

Lodge at Wisp Resort, adding exterior features, adding the entire Sundown Village, and improvements to other various aspects of the resort. Wisp Resort announced over the summer they officially hired ski & resort industry veteran Ron Hawkes to serve as General Manager. Hawkes has devoted almost his entire professional career to ski resorts, many in the Mid-Atlantic region, working as far north as Vermont and even traveling to South America to work at a resort in Chile. He spent a large amount of time at various resorts in Pennsylvania, including Roundtop Mountain Resort, Camelback Resort, Whitetail Resort, and Montage Mountain Resort. Much like Geisler, Hawkes’ love for skiing led him to

be an instructor, sharing his passion with others. Throughout his travels and career, he’d serve as a Ski School Training Director, Director of Skiing and Snowboarding, Assistant General Manager, and even President and General Manager. Hawkes comes to Wisp Resort from Camelback Resort in Pennsylvania, which boasts both a summer and winter season, much like Wisp Resort does. His experience with not only ski operations but with golf, lodging, and even watersports have helped build a solid foundation on which to draw from during his time at Wisp Resort. We wish Ron Hawkes well as we gear up for the upcoming ski season at Wisp Resort!

The Deep Creek Lake Resort Report Cashmere Clothing Co. is Open For Business Looking for stylish clothing at affordable prices? Cashmere Clothing Co. has you covered! This brand new boutique recently opened its doors at the start of the summer and has already become a local favorite for women’s clothing. The boutique gets new clothes in several times throughout the month, which means there’s always something new when you stop by! You can find an array of clothing, from dressy to casual, and the store offers standard and plus sizes. Cashmere Clothing Co. was founded by local Marcia Warnick, who noticed a lack of fashionable shopping choices for women in

the Deep Creek and Garrett County areas. Many of the clothing stores in the area focus on outerwear or casual clothing and less on business attire or more dressy clothing. Marcia is part of the Railey Realty family, working with us for more than 20 years as Bill Weissgerber’s assistant.
