Keynote speakers continued... Jim McMahon MP | Shadow Transport Secretary Before becoming an MP, Jim was a Councillor in Oldham for 13 years and the Leader of the Council. He served on the Greater Manchester Combined Authority with responsibility for transport. As an MP, Jim has served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to former Labour deputy leader, Tom Watson and was subsequently appointed as Shadow Minister for Local Government and Devolution in 2016. In April 2020, Jim was appointed by Keir Starmer to serve in Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Transport Secretary a role which he currently holds.

Nick Smallwood | Chief Executive, Infrastructure and Projects Authority Nick is the Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority and Head of Government’s Project Delivery Function. Nick is the former Vice President for Projects Engineering and Chief Projects Engineer at Shell. He joins the IPA with 37 years’ experience of managing complex project portfolios and having developed Shell’s Global Project Academy.

Sir Peter Hendy CBE |Chairman, Network Rail Sir Peter has been the Chair of Network Rail since July 2015, and Chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation since July 2017. He was previously Commissioner of Transport for London (TfL) since 2006, having served since 2001 as TfL's Managing Director of Surface Transport. Sir Peter led, and played a key role in preparing for, the successful operation of London's transport for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He started his transport career in 1975 as a London Transport graduate trainee.
