Raising aspirations
Raise the BAAR - (Behaviour, Attainment Attendance and Raising Aspirations) - is our 14+ Alternative Education Provision. It is designed to enable young people to continue part of their education outside of their ‘home’ school. The main aims of our provision are to prevent exclusions, re-engage young people in learning, improve attendance, improve behaviour and achieve educational outcomes. The Provision focuses on vocational learning, leading to accredited qualifications, including BTEC qualifications in Construction, Motor Vehicle, Sports and Fitness, Health and Social Care, and Music and Media. All our subjects are delivered by specialist teachers, tutors and mentors. There are a number of pathways: F or those young people with an EHC plan - we can offer part-time bespoke packages, smaller class sizes and, where appropriate, 1-2-1 tuition. W here less input is required to meet need, and students are able to work in small groups of up to 8 young people, we offer a 2 days a week vocational learning programme which also includes our own programme ‘Get RIPPED’ qualification, accredited by NCFE at Level 1, covering elements of personal and social development, which runs alongside vocational qualifications. W e can offer full-time, temporary places to minimise disruption to learning for students who are: • Subject to a planned move. • Fixed-term excluded, from day six. •P ermanently excluded and a permanent school place is being sought.
Thanks to its unique multi-disciplinary team of highly qualified and experienced professionals, Raise is able to provide an engaging vocational and personal development provision for students aged 14+. Our team includes: Qualified Teachers; Tutors; Learning Assistants; Wellbeing Mentors and Work Coaches. Their caring, supportive approach enables young people to achieve personal and educational outcomes.
“Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare are Outstanding”
Our programmes are delivered in a way that allows young people to see the alternative provision as part of their overall curriculum, giving new focus and appreciation of achieving all their qualifications, including English and Maths.
Working together to raise the youth Our mission is to bring together people, partners, the community and industry to raise the youth and invest in young people – our future. There is no greater investment in children and young people than their education and wellbeing.
What does BAAR offer? At Raise, we pride ourselves in being able to offer a successful education and wellbeing provision that draws on our experience of running an independent special school which Ofsted judged as ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding for Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare’. We have a successful track record of engaging students enabling them to achieve progression and positive outcomes. Our methods and approach have allowed us to offer Raise the BAAR – a new 14+ Alternative Education Provision, which complements the ‘home’ school curriculum by focussing on vocational skills and personal development.
