HEAD OF SCHOOL MANDATE
An expert in organizational management and strategic leadership, Dr Wasserman will lead school-wide initiatives that the Board has set as our incoming Head of School’s mandate:
● Educational leadership
○ Working with the division heads to evaluate key elements of the program and ensure they have the resources needed to build, grow, develop, and innovate in their roles and to maintain educational excellence.
○ Ensuring that the classroom education and beyond-classroom activities, including those related to chesed, maintain the highest standards and reinforce the Ramaz mission, values, and focus on excellence and menschlichkeit, in both general studies and Judaic studies.
○ Focusing on the role of Admissions in bringing to Ramaz students and families who aspire to a life of Torah values that is at the heart of a Ramaz education.
○ Enhancing students’ knowledge of Israel and skills in Israel advocacy while deepening their love and unwavering support for the Jewish State.
○ Working with College Guidance and Israel Guidance to obtain as much first hand information as possible about various universities and gap year programs so that students and their families are able to make informed decisions about which colleges are right for them.
● Organizational leadership
○ Developing a clear vision and cohesive strategy for how Ramaz's mission and identity are expressed throughout the organization, and ensuring that students, parents, teachers, administrators, and board members are aligned in their understanding of the mission and vision
○ Working with the senior leadership team to enhance cross-school coordination while harnessing the distinctive strengths of each division
○ Collaborating with the senior leadership on faculty recruitment, development, retention, and evaluation
● Communal leadership
○ Conducting outward-facing events and dialogues with key members of the community through talks, focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and other forums.
○ Collaborating with other heads of school and communal leaders to tackle common issues.
○ Leading change and defining what the future can and should hold for Ramaz as a forward thinking, evolving 21st-century school community.
○ Ensuring Ramaz leads by example in defining the ideal Jewish day school model in today’s post October 7th new reality.
