A PEEK AT THE PARSHA
In Parshat Pekudei, Moshe showed Bnei Yisrael how all of their Mishkan donations of gold, silver, and copper (and others) were used. The parsha reviewed all of the different Keylim (vessels) such as the Aron, Mizbay’ach, Shulchan and the eight special garments of the Kohen Gadol.
The Mishkan and all of the garments of the Kohanim were completed and brought to Moshe on the 25th day of Kislev. Although the building of the Mishkan was completed in the month of Kislev, the Mishkan only became usable on Rosh Chodesh Nissan. Every day of the week before the inauguration (“Opening Day”) of the Mishkan, Moshe - on his own! -
ONE BIG IDEA
The parsha begins by discussing exactly how much gold, silver, and copper was used for the Mishkan. Bnei Yisrael donated their money and Moshe was in charge of the whole project. Even though everyone trusted Moshe and knew he was honest, Moshe made sure to show the people exactly how every penny was spent and put to good use. This teaches us an important lesson: we should always be extra careful and honest with other people's money.

assembled and disassembled the Mishkan. During this time, Moshe served as the Kohen Gadol (High Priest), performing the daily avodah (sacrifices).Then, on Rosh Chodesh Nissan, Moshe put up the Mishkan and left it standing. Moshe showed Aharon and his sons how to do the Avodah. Afterwards, Aharon and his sons, the Kohanim, did the Avodah in the Mishkan. After everything was put together, Moshe placed a little of the Shemen Hamishchah (Anointing Oil) onto the Mishkan. Moshe then placed some of the oil on Aharon and his sons, symbolizing that they were the ones now in charge of the Mishkan.
The Ananey Hakavod (Clouds of Glory) covered the Mishkan. The clouds symbolized Hashem’s presence in the Mishkan. When the clouds lifted from on top of the Mishkan, Bnei Yisrael knew that they would be traveling to various destinations. During the day, the clouds guided Bnei Yisrael, and at night, a pillar of fire guided them. Bnei Yisrael gathered around the Mishkan and watched Hashem’s presence rest on the Mishkan Hashem had forgiven Bnei Yisrael for the sin of the Eygel Hazahav. It was a day of great joy and celebration for Bnei Yisrael.
