GREETINGS FROM LTG Hey there my lovelies, Can you believe it’s been almost a month since the last publication of the monthly newsletter? So many exciting things have happened within the past month, including back to school meetings, membership recruitment, service projects and so much more. It may have been hectic and busy but now we’re slowly adapting to these new faces and events. Summer is over and Fall is kicking in. Has your club thought about upcoming service projects or fundraisers yet? Don’t be afraid to execute new ideas or try new things out. Fall, in my perspective, is the best time to make things happened as everyone is settling into the new school year and looking for things to do. As a club you could incorporate the season in so many ways, for example; pumpkin carving, Trick Or Treat for UNICEF, costume parties or simply making some yummy treats. Whatever it may be, just know we’re all here to support you. If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me whenever. I hope to see all of your enchanting faces sometime soon, and always remember that you guys are the KEY part to KEY CLUB. Don’t sell short for anything J In Love and Service, Your Lieutenant Governor,

NEW DIVISIONAL EDITIOR Hey Division 19/36, Many of you may not know me so let me introduce myself! I’m Karen Cabacungan from Olympic High School’s Key Club, and I have just been appointed as your new Divisional Editor. As your Divisional Editor, it’s my responsibility to capture all the moments that are going on around our Division. From our monthly DCMs to events happening in individual schools’ Key Clubs, you will catch me taking a snapshot or ten to remember the times you gave back to the community. The beautiful month of October is now upon us and it’s time to relax, sip some pumpkin spice latte, and enjoy this fall season. School is now adjusted into our daily schedules and everyone will be busy no matter what. But let’s not forget our goal as Key Clubbers to give back to the community as much as possible. I will be working closely with our LTG and we will make sure to attend each and every event Division 19/36 has going on. The photos taken will be incorporated into our monthly Divisional Newsletters and will be uploaded onto Google Drive with a link that I will be posting on our group page. I’m hoping to capture all of the great events our Division will have going on for this year. Let’s enjoy this year of service and make tons of memories. I promise to have them all in pictures for you to look back on! In Love and Service, Karen Cabacungan Divisional Editor of Division 19/36 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International

SEPTEMBER DCM RECAP It was all laughs and fun at our September DCM, held at the Evergreen Park in Bremerton on September 16, 2014. We celebrated the back to school season with a barbecue with support from our Silverdale Kiwanis. Not only did we talk about upcoming service projects, first Key Club meetings, school events but also played hot potato (with a real potato), scavenger hunt, and several rounds of Up Down. Overall you could say it was a great day, with some amazing people.

FIRST MEETINGS The school year just started and the clubs in our division are already becoming so successful. Memberships have increased, more service projects being worked on, and many new hands to help the community out. It already seems like the school year 2014-15 is going to be a blast. Clubs came up with some creative ideas such as Central Kitsap and Port Angeles had a pizza party, Bremerton Kiwanis provided root beer floats and they set up a photo booth, Olympic baked brownies and played some group bonding ice breakers. I’m sure the other clubs in our division had a spectacular first meeting as well, unfortunately I was unable to attend or get ahold of photos. But here are some pictures from the ones that did occur. I hope we all have similar successful meetings in the future, and continue to serve our communities to the best of our abilities.

A Word From The Treasurer Hey Key Club Treasurers! This is Aneesh Pappu, your district treasurer. I hope you are all having a wonderful and productive school year and, for all you seniors, I hope that college applications are going well! We are currently in the midst of my favorite time of the year – dues season! Dues season runs until December 1st and is the time frame in which all clubs must submit dues in order to be a part of Key Club International. Although there are many service organizations aside from Key Club that do not require payments to join, there is no group that provides you with the same level of opportunities as we do. When you pay dues to join, you’re joining an international organization with ties and projects all over the world. Your dues provide you with the opportunity to fundraise for projects such as the Eliminate Project in order to cure deadly diseases around the world. The benefits don’t stop there however; joining Key Club provides you and your club with resources to succeed. As a paid member, you and your club immediately receive the benefits of district support ranging from the help of your Lieutenant Governor and District Executive Officers to the aid of the adult Kiwanians who support us in each and every endeavor we undertake. As we enter October a very important deadline for dues submission is arriving – Early Bird dues are due November 1st. Although it is not required to meet this deadline, submitting your club’s dues by this time comes with a myriad of benefits, including priority seating at DCON and an Early Bird patch for your club’s banner. In order to meet this deadline, each club must submit $12.50 per member for at least 15 members through the Membership Update Center (MUC), which can be found at www.keyclub.org/MUC. If you have not logged into the MUC this school year yet, it is crucial that you sit down with your adviser, login, and begin the registration process. If you have any issues with login credentials, be sure to email memberservices@kiwanis.org and include me as well (apappu97@gmail.com). After the Early Bird deadline, the final deadline for dues submission is December 1st. Unfortunately, clubs who do not submit their dues by this date will be placed on delinquent status, which can eventually translate into suspended and even inactive statuses for clubs. In order to avoid this, I highly recommend that you finish the dues process as soon as possible! I am also always available to assist if you have any issues, so don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or Facebook message if you ever need to! Happy Dues Season! In Caring & Service, Aneesh Pappu Pacific Northwest District Treasurer Key Club International apappu97@gmail.com
