OUNG Rangers star Ryan Hardie took part in a Twitter Q&A for the Rangers Youth Development Company recently. The striker, who made his first-team debut against Falkirk just over a year ago and scored against Dumbarton last season, has been a regular on Mark Warburton’s bench this term and is hoping for more game time as the campaign progresses. Tom Walsh and Liam Kelly took over the Rangers Youth Development Company Twitter account in recent weeks and Ryan was next to show his support and answer questions from fans. Here are some of the highlights of his session…

RH: “Michael Mols and Thierry Henry then Nikica Jelavic later on - once I started to go to the games.” What team did you play for when you were younger and what team did you support? RH: “I played for a local boys club - Lochryan - when I was five but I was at mini kickers from three. I was also a Rangers season ticket holder when I was younger in the Govan Rear.” What’s the difference between training with the first team and training with the under-20s? RH: “The training is similar - the youths train with the same intensity as the first team and have the same demands.” What’s is it like to play in the blue of Rangers? RH: “It’s the best feeling in the world playing at Ibrox - you get butterflies every time.” What is the best game you have ever watched? RH: “The Liverpool v AC Milan Champions League Final when they came back from 3-0 down.” What are your personal ambitions for this season? How many goals would you like to notch? RH: “I always have targets - my aim is to score goals for the first team and score as many for the Development squad if called on.” What’s your favourite Rangers song and why? RH: “Simply the Best - it gets everyone going before games.” If you could go back in time what game would you have loved to have played in? RH: “The League Cup Final in Walter Smith’s final

season when Jelavic scored in extra time against Celtic.” Messi or Ronaldo? RH: “Ronaldo 100 per cent.” James Tavernier or Cafu? RH: “I can see the similarities between the two!” What’s your other interests outside football? RH: “I love golf and my handicap is eight just now. If I wasn’t a footballer I would try and be a golfer.” If you could have anyone as your strike partner who would it be and why? RH: “Ruud van Nistelrooy - his movement and linkup play was good and I could have learned a lot from him.” If you could ask any footballer - alive or dead - for advice or guidance, who would it be and why? RH: “Ally McCoist - he has seen and done it all. I hope to achieve similar things.” Even former Ibrox striker Marco Negri contacted Ryan on Twitter to wish him well; ‘Best wishes 4 your career Ryan. Keep enjoying football and scoring. Cheers.’

Since 2002 Rangers Youth Development Company profits have been directed to the club’s youth programme with more than £5.5 million provided in the last decade. Rangers fans can continue to support the Rangers Youth Development Company in a variety of ways – full details on Rangers Lotto, Rising Stars, Scratchcards, Stadium Bricks and other initiatives can be found at www. rangerslotto.co.uk.

//TOP TEN • FREE-KICKS

THROUGHOUT the 2015/16 season, we’ll take a look at some great top ten features relating to Rangers. This week, NICK THOMSON from the club’s media department has picked out the best free-kicks he has seen as he has follow followed the Light Blues.

Have we ranked these goals correctly or are there any famous strikes you would have included in the list? Tweet us @RangersFC.

10. PETER LOVENKRANDS v Kilmarnock 11/3/2006 FORGET the fact that then midfielder and now Queen of the South manager James Fowler was in goals for a second, and marvel at this quite superb strike from Peter Lovenkrands. Kilmarnock had been reduced to 10-men with keeper Alan Combe dismissed for denying Lovenkrands a clear goalscoring opportunity, and having used all three substitutes, it fell to Fowler to stand between the sticks. Ironically, Kilmarnock had TWO keepers on the bench - former Gers stopper Graeme Smith and now Ibrox goalie Cammy Bell - to get around the SPL’s under-21 quota rule, but even if one of them had been able to replace Combe, neither would have stood a chance. From over 30 yards, Lovenkrands simply belted an effort over the wall and into the top corner to round-off the scoring in a 4-0 win.
