Rebecca Harding
Maybe you’re already pregnant, or perhaps this will be the year you’ll finally welcome your baby into the world. You will have many questions and one that pops up a lot is “How safe is sex when pregnant?” Page 19 has all your questions answered. For those of you expecting this year and taking folic acid has become part of your daily routine you will certainly hear plenty of conception myths, we try and put your minds at ease on page 24. One thing I have learnt recently is the importance of making sure your little ones are up to date with their immunisations, with this in mind we have included a check list for you to make sure you keep on track with those important vaccines that could potentially save your little ones lives, page 40. So now you’re pregnant you are going to need to start thinking of ways to dress your ever growing bump, my advice “comfy Jeans and a nice shirt”, match them up with a pair of converse for day wear and style them up with a pair of Sophia Webster’s for that Valentines meal. For all of this and much more our fashion pages start on page 50. Its Mother’s day soon so make sure you leave page 57 open on the toilet seat to drop subtle hints to your hubby. On page 68 we thought you deserved a little treat so we have an amazing giveaway for you wonderful mummys. One job only mum can do is breast feeding, sometimes it’s easy and sometimes we need a helping hand or a little guide to help us through, after all babies don’t come with a manual, we wish they did sometimes but that’s half the fun. For step by step tips head to page 74. So I will leave you to have a read of this edition, I am going for a relaxing cup of green tea and a slice of sugar free banana cake. Who am I kidding. Happy Reading

By mums like you bloom coco go organic cotton lounger
Sore Breasts Putting on your bra this morning felt like mild torture. And are you imagining it, or darkening of the areolas and even more pronounced veins on your chest can be a first sign that you’re pregnant.
Fatigue You didn’t even make it through one page of your book last night before falling asleep. If you’re suddenly exhausted, it might be a response to the increasing hormones in your body. For many women, tiredness continues through the first trimester, but then ebbs in the second.
Nausea Most pregnant women start to get the queasies when they’re about 6 weeks along, but some can experience morning sickness (which unfortunately can occur morning, noon and night) earlier. It will most likely subside as you enter the second trimester. In the mean time, try to eat foods that will settle your stomach, like crackers or ginger ale.
Frequent Urination If you suddenly find yourself unable to sleep through the night without a trip to the loo, it might be a sign. During pregnancy your body produces extra fluids, which has your bladder working overtime—and you taking a lot of pee breaks.
Cravings or Food Aversions Suddenly, you cannot get enough citrus. Or perhaps fish now turns your stomach. If you notice food issues that weren’t there before, it could be your body telling you you’re pregnant
Kora Says:- Firstly I love the style and my little lady loved the vibrating movement making it easy for her to drift off to sleep. Bonus comes with a travel bag making it super easy to take to granny’s 4.5 /5 Samantha Says:- We travel allot so this would work really well for us. It has a variation of seat positions and I love the organic cover. For this price I would of liked the option of a toy bar and I would of loved this to last a little longer than 9kg 3.5/5
PB Says:- A real classic lounger that has three different positions – upright for play, semi-reclined for snoozing off and flat for sleeping. We also love that its all geared up for travelling, the included travel bag is a real handy bonus making sure everything stays together as it should. It is machine washable and suitable from newborn to 9kg when your little ones should just about start wanting to wriggle about a little more independently.
Overall we Love it giving it an amazing 4.5/5 stars only thing we would add is a little toy bar. 16 l february/march 2016 l

Sex is
A-OK
your questions answered By BabyCentre Medical Advisory Board
Can i have sex while i’m pregnant?
Absolutely! Most parents-to-be worry about this, but if you have a normal pregnancy, you can keep doing it right up until your waters break. There are lots of psychological and physical benefits of sex so pregnancy is not a reason to stop. And you may find that being free from worries about conception and contraception, you feel sexier than ever. Some researchers even think that women who have regular sex during pregnancy may be less likely to give birth prematurely. Having orgasms may also be related to a lower chance of giving birth early.
If you’re feeling sexy and well enough, then it’s a good thing to keep your sex life going throughout pregnancy. Having satisfying sex during this time is good for your relationship and your sense of wellbeing, both now and after your baby has arrived.

pregnancy
wILL SEX HARM MY BABY? Fear of hurting your baby can be one of the most common reasons to avoid sex during pregnancy. You won’t hurt your baby by making love, even with your partner on top. The thick mucus plug that seals your cervix helps guard against infection. The amniotic sac and the strong muscles of your womb (uterus) also protect your baby. If you orgasm, you may notice your baby moves around more. However, this is because of your pounding heart, not because he knows what’s happening or feels discomfort.
ARE THERE TIMES WHEN I SHOULDN’T HAVE SEX? Your midwife or GP may advise you not to have sex if you have experienced: • bleeding • abdominal pains or cramps • broken waters • a history of cervical weakness • a low-lying placenta (placenta praevia), particularly if you have had some bleeding Although there isn’t strong evidence that sex will make these conditions worse, many doctors will advise you to avoid sex as a precaution.
20 l february/march 2016 l
You may also be advised to avoid sex during pregnancy if your partner has genital herpes. If you catch genital herpes for the first time during pregnancy there’s a small risk that it could affect your developing baby. Frequent sex (more than three times a week) can trigger bladder urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly if they are something you’re prone to. Untreated UTIs can cause problems in pregnancy. If you suspect you have a UTI, you should see your doctor or midwife as soon as possible to have your urine checked. Washing before and after sex (remembering to wash from front to back), and emptying your bladder after sex will help to reduce the likelihood of infection. As long as it’s not uncomfortable, you can still have sex if you get a vaginal infection but your partner should wear a condom to ensure he doesn’t become infected too.
WILL SEX FEEL AS GOOD DURING PREGNANCY? It depends. It’s better for some women, not as good for others. Increased blood flow to your pelvic area during pregnancy can cause your genitals to engorge, and heighten sexual sensation. But some
project-baby.co.uk
women report that this leaves them with an uncomfortable full feeling after intercourse ends. Many women find that their clitoris is slightly less sensitive during pregnancy or that their orgasms are less powerful. It’s also fairly common for women to say they can’t reach orgasm as easily while they’re carrying a baby. Some mums-to-be find sex painful during pregnancy. This is particularly the case when penetration is deep. Adopting sexual positions where penetration is shallow or under your control (see below) is the best solution.
You may experience abdominal cramps after having an orgasm, as this can set off a wave of contractions. This is particularly noticeable in the third trimester. It can be off-putting, but wait a few minutes and the tightening of your womb will ease, just as with Braxton Hicks contractions. During pregnancy many couples find that they feel more pleasure from foreplay, oral sex, sex toys or masturbation than from intercourse. So although you may change the way you have sex during pregnancy, it doesn’t mean you’ll be less satisfied!
pregnancy
i’VE GONE OFF SEX SINCE PREGNANT. IS THIS NORMAL? Yes! The big changes in your body and your life are bound to alter your sex life. Some women are just too tired or feel too nauseous to make love, especially in the first trimester. Mood changes, backache and sore breasts are some of the other reasons for a diminished interest in sex. Hormonal changes can also cause a loss of libido. If you suffer from gestational diabetes then you may find that you feel like having less sex or don’t enjoy it quite as much. Not surprisingly, your state of mind is another factor. If you feel positive about your pregnancy and the changes your body is undergoing, you’re likely to feel more sexual. But if you’re not particularly happy about the pregnancy or feel insecure about your growing tummy or other issues, this can have a negative effect. Even if you enjoyed sex during the first part of your pregnancy your sex drive can wane in the third trimester as birth, labour and your belly loom large. Many mums-to-be simply feel unattractive or worried about whether their partner is satisfied sexually. At any stage of pregnancy, though, there are wide variations in how women feel and how sexually active couples are. What’s normal for one person won’t necessarily be the same for you.
WILL MY PARTNER’S SEX DRIVE CHANGE NOW THAT I’M PREGNANT? It might. It’s not uncommon for men to feel less interested in sex, especially in the third trimester. This doesn’t mean that your partner doesn’t find you attractive any more. Some men are even turned on more by their partners being pregnant. Common reasons for lack of desire in dads-to-be include: • fears that sex can hurt the baby • worries about the health of you and your unborn baby • feelings of apprehension about the burdens of parenthood • self-consciousness about making love in the presence of your unborn child
WHICH SEXUAL POSITIONS ARE THE MOST COMFORTABLE DURING PREGNANCY? As your pregnancy progresses, you may find that the missionary position (man on top) isn’t comfortable any more. Try the following instead: • Get on top! This position has been shown to be associated with higher levels of sexual satisfaction in pregnant women. It puts no weight on your abdomen and allows you to control the depth of penetration. Straddle your partner while he’s lying down and sit either facing him or facing the other way. This position also allows him to reach your breasts or stimulate your clitoris to help you orgasm. • Use the bed a s a prop. Lie on your back at the edge of the bed with your knees bent, and your bottom and feet perched at the edge of the mattress. Your partner can either kneel or stand in front of you. • Lie side-by-side in the spoon s position. This allows your partner to keep most of his weight off your bump. Rest your top leg over his or place it on a few pillows in front of you. This allows for only shallow penetration so it’s ideal if deep thrusts have become more uncomfortable. If your bump isn’t yet big enough to get in the way, you can also turn around and face your partner in this position. • Get on to your han ds an d k n ees in the doggy position. This is a good position for later on in your pregnancy when it’s a relief to have weight taken off your back and pelvis. You can also get your partner to reach around and stimulate your clitoris. Penetration can be quite deep in this position. If you find it uncomfortable, ask your partner to thrust less deeply. Getting him to hold a pillow between your bottom and his lower tummy will prevent him pushing too far inside you. • Sit on your pa rtn er. This is another position that puts no weight on your womb (uterus). Try sitting on your partner’s lap as he sits on a (sturdy) chair. You can control the rate and depth of penetration by standing up more or by squatting down. This position allows for lots of kissing, cuddling and eye contact. You can also take it easy and let your partner do all the moving. Just take a little of your weight off his thighs first. • Ha ve sex s tan din g up. Lean over a low counter or table with your partner standing behind you. This takes the pressure off your back and pelvis and lets your partner reach around and stimulate your clitoris at the same time. • Sit on a table or coun ter. With your partner standing in front of you, wrap your legs around his body for a more intimate experience. Pop a cushion under your bottom to make yourself more comfortable. If you’re in your third trimester you may prefer to lean back a little so your growing bump doesn’t get in the way.
You can have satisfying sex when pregnant, and where there’s a will, there’s a way! Our slideshow of sex positions during pregnancy will inspire you and your partner to find techniques that work. And keep talking. Communication and openness are the keys to maintaining or improving sexual satisfaction during your pregnancy.
Talking to your partner openly about his fears and explaining that sex is not harmful during pregnancy can be helpful. project-baby.co.uk

Conception
Myths
You’ve read them on the Internet or heard them from your mum - and no matter how crazy they may sound, you wonder if there’s any truth to these theories on baby making. Take a look at the most common conception myths and discover whether they’re fact or fiction.
Conception myth: Lying on your back with your hips elevated for 20 minutes after sex will help you conceive.
the sperm closer to the cervix, and hence, to their goal. That said, your cervical mucus — regardless of the sexual position you use — should be enough to move your man’s boys toward the egg. So if you’re not a fan of certain sex positions, just go with what feels right to you. If sex feels good, you’re more likely to do it!
Why it’s supposed to help: Gravity will help sperm work their magic. Lying in this position post-sex (some people suggest putting a pillow underneath your bottom to tilt your pelvis up) could help sperm move in the direction they need to go.
Conception myth: Green tea boosts fertility.
The facts: There’s no scientific proof that this will increase your odds of conceiving. After all, every ejaculation contains millions of sperm, so plenty of the speedy swimmers should be able to make their way to the fallopian tubes even if you jump around right after sex. But some experts (and common sense) say that staying in bed for a little while after intercourse will help keep semen from leaking out of the vagina — and maybe, just maybe, help ensure that every last sperm gets a fighting chance at the prize. So if you feel like you’re helping to spur things along by staying supine, make yourself comfy. But if you haven’t got time to stay horizontal after sex, don’t stress.
Conception myth: Cough syrup can help you conceive. Why it’s supposed to help: Some cough syrups contain an ingredient called Guaifenesin that helps thin the mucus in your lungs. Guaifenesin could also thin other mucus in your body — namely cervical mucus — and make it easier for sperm to reach the egg. The facts: There isn’t a lot of medical research to back this one up.
Conception myth: Certain sex positions increase your odds of conceiving. Why it’s supposed to help: Positions that allow for deep penetration may land the sperm closer to the cervix, giving them a better shot at making it to the egg. The facts: While there aren’t any studies to back this up, some experts suggest that deep penetration (which is possible from a rear-entry position or from the man-on-top missionary position) may help get

Why it’s supposed to help: Green tea is loaded with potent Polyphenols (which have antioxidant properties) that help prevent cellular damage to reproductive organs and may make eggs more viable. The facts: There is some research linking green tea to increased fertility. Plus, because green tea has less caffeine than black tea or coffee, going green could help you limit your caffeine intake when trying to conceive — which is always a smart move since excessive caffeine is a fertility buster. On the other hand, large amounts of green tea seem to decrease the effectiveness of folic acid — a crucial nutrient during your baby prep since it’s vital to fetal development. So if you’d like to give green a chance, go for it, but play it safe and stick with one cup a day.
Conception myth: A woman needs to have an orgasm in order to conceive. Why it’s supposed to help: The uterine contractions caused by an orgasm may help propel the sperm into the cervix and toward the fallopian tubes. The facts: While an orgasm can never be a bad thing, and it may in fact help move sperm in the direction of the egg, you don’t need your Os in order to conceive. But wouldn’t it be nice if you did? That would certainly give your man some extra incentive to work harder! Some research does suggest that your orgasm increases alkaline secretions in the vaginal tract, which may favor boy sperm. So if your guy can’t wait to bust out the toy trucks and footballs, maybe the hope of a boy baby will inspire him to help you reach the big O!

Pregnancy Facts
4. Your skin changes Hormones mean skin can dry out. Extra collagen in your skin tears when it stretches, causing stretchmarks. They won’t go after the birth but may fade. Help your body - Use a body moisturiser to improve the condition of your skin).
5. Blue veins appear Some people are genetically predisposed to varicose veins, some aren’t. Light exercise and support tights may help. (Help your body Avoid heels as this pushes weight to the front of your foot, worsening the problem).

Amazing facts about your pregnant body
Your baby grows from the size of a pinhead to a 7/8lb boy or girl in just 40 weeks. Your body’s built to cope, but it helps to understand the changes it goes through. We look at 21 amazing ways in which your body changes and suggest ways to help you through the whole nine months.
1. You grow a new organ Yes, your placenta is a multi-talented brand new organ that passes oxygen and nutrients from your blood stream to your growing baby. It also protects your baby from infection and helps to remove your baby’s ‘waste products’, such as carbon dioxide. Linked to your baby by the umbilical cord, your placenta will weigh around 1.5lb by the time your baby is born.
2. Your bones soften High levels of the hormones oestrogen and relaxin cause ligaments throughout your body
26 l february/march 2016 l
extra strain on the muscles and joints of the lower back area can cause back pain. (Help your body - Bend your knees when picking anything up and avoid twisting).
3. Your body can swell anywhere Extra fluid circulating can sometimes cause swelling (oedema) throughout your whole body, but more commonly in the ankles due to interstitial fluid building up. (Help your body - Put your feet up higher than your hips at the end of the day for 15 minutes. Increase your fluid intake to keep your kidneys functioning well).
project-baby.co.uk
6. Your womb holds a pint of water At the start of pregnancy, your uterus is the size of a small Conference pear. By the end of the nine months it’s more like an oversized watermelon, holding a baby and at least a pint of water, so it’s not surprising you feel twinges as it grows, especially as it will be touching the bottom of your ribs. At 16-20 weeks you may feel slight pain caused by some ligaments beginning to stretch. (Help your body - Ask your midwife about Optimal Fetal Positioning (OFP). It’s a method of trying to ensure that the baby lies in the uterus in the best position for labour through the use of lifestyle habits and exercises).
7 Your hair’s thicker Your hair becomes glossy and thicker due to the oestrogen receptors it contains. It is thicker because growth has slowed down and hair loss is reduced. (Help your body - Don’t worry if your hair falls out after the birth. It’s only the hair you would have lost during the previous nine months. It’s also a myth that breast-feeding prevents this loss).
8. You’ll need the loo more You’re likely to need the loo more often, even during your first trimester, as your uterus expands onto your bladder. Higher progesterone levels and the fact that tubes from your kidneys are dilated may mean more trips to the loo for small amounts of wee. (Help your body - Cut down on tea and coffee and drink water or diluted fruit juice, like cranberry).
pregnancy
9. You’re more stretchy To prepare your body for childbirth, the hormone, relaxin, reduces cartilage and ligament density, so you can stretch parts of your body a lot more than normal. (Help your body - Go gently. Avoid exercises like sitting cross-legged and pushing your knees to the floor as they strain your muscles).
10. Your hands may tingle Numbness and tingling may be a sign of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome pressure on a nerve where it passes into the hand at the wrist. Anyone can get it, but you’re more at risk in pregnancy. It usually disappears after birth. (Help your body - A physiotherapist may offer splints).
11. You produce more blood Your total volume of blood is 50% higher than usual and cardiac output (the amount of blood pumped out with each heartbeat) increases by 40%. You manufacture 20% extra red blood cells to carry more oxygen around your body. It’s normal to feel out of breath at times in the later months. But breathlessness can be a sign of anaemia so if you’re concerned, ask your midwife to check your iron levels. (Help your body - Aerobic activities, such as walking or swimming, will help to keep your heart healthy, but avoid taking up any form of exercise that you’re not already familiar with).
12. Your sense of smell is stronger Changes in food likes and dislikes in pregnancy are connected with your sense of smell and not your sense of taste. Ninety per cent of your ability to taste is actually connected with sense of smell. Help your body - Be prepared for certain smells to make you feel physically sick.
17. Your tummy may develop a line
Some women find a dark line appears on their abdomen in pregnancy. This is known as the linea nigra and is caused by higher melatonin levels. It will fade again after your pregnancy. It tends to affect women with dark colouring more than those with fairer complexions. Help your body - Relax. It’s not harmful and it will fade.
18. Your boobs keep changing Many women worry unnecessarily that breastfeeding will ruin the shape of their boobs. In fact, any change in shape is actually caused by the pregnancy itself and not by breast-feeding your baby. Proper support at this time is vital to support the muscles in your chest wall as there’s no muscle tissue in your breast. Help your body - Get re-measured and fitted for a good quality support bra during your first trimester as this is the time of the biggest changes. However, you will feel your size changing as your pregnancy progresses.
19. Your teeth need extra care It used to be said that a woman lost one tooth for each of her pregnancies. Thankfully, that’s no longer the case for women who have a healthy, varied diet. But your gums are vulnerable now and gingivitis, or bleeding gums, is very common. It’s important to make the most of the free dental treatment you are entitled to (up until your baby is 12 months old) and see your dentist and hygienist regularly. Help your body - Use a softer toothbrush and make sure your diet is rich in calcium. Drink plenty of milk, but try to make sure it’s semi-skimmed. This gives you all the calcium you will need without the extra fat, too.
13. Your baby gets food before you It’s important to eat healthily in pregnancy. The baby will take all the nutrients he needs, but this can leave you lacking, especially in iron. Your GP can provide iron tablets if you’re anaemic. Help your body - Vitamin C in a glass of orange juice helps your body absorb iron. Most breakfast cereals are fortified with iron, too.
14. You breathe deeper As your uterus grows, the diaphragm is compressed, It seems difficult to breathe deeply, but you actually breathe more air. Help your body Don’t fight the tendency to hollow your back. This counteracts the increased weight at the front and opens up your ribcage to let more air in.
15. Your pelvic muscles stretch Incontinence caused by childbirth is decreasing as women get better at doing pelvic floor exercises. Help your body - Clench the muscles round the back and front passages, “lifting” your internal muscles. Hold for a count of four, then release. Repeat whenever you can.
16. Your face may darken The ‘mask of pregnancy’ is caused by a change of pigment in your skin across your nose and cheeks in a butterfly shape. It only seems to affect some women, but no-one knows why. Help your body - It isn’t unsightly, but you can disguise it with makeup. It will fade after birth.
20. Digestion slows Progesterone slows your digestion early on so your body can absorb more nutrients to pass to your baby. It can cause constipation. Help your body - Have plenty of fluids, fruit and vegetables. Light exercise will also help digestion.
21. Your blood clots faster Your blood clots more easily now, a protective mechanism so you don’t bleed to death when the placenta is delivered. There’s a concern that a clot in the calf may fragment, and cause clots elsewhere, particularly if you’ve had thrombosis or are overweight. Help your body - Regular exercise is important. Management Labour-Pain
Explained
Labour can be painful, so it’s important to learn about all the ways that you can relieve the pain. It’s also helpful for whoever is going to be with you during your labour to know about the different options, as well as how they can support you. Ask your midwife or doctor to explain what’s available, so that you can decide what’s best for you.
Write down your wishes in your birth plan, but remember that you should keep an open mind. You may find that you want more pain relief than you’d planned, or your doctor or midwife may suggest more effective pain relief to help the delivery.
Self-help in labour
Gas and air (Entonox) for labour This is a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide gas. Gas and air won’t remove all the pain, but it can help to reduce it and make it more bearable. Many women like it because it’s easy to use and they control it themselves.
You will be more relaxed in labour and better placed to cope with the pain if you:
How it works
• Learn about labour. This can make you feel more in control and less frightened about what’s going to happen. Talk to your midwife or doctor, ask them questions and go to antenatal classes. • Learn how to relax, stay calm and breathe deeply.
You breathe in the gas and air through a mask or mouthpiece, which you hold yourself. You’ll probably practise using the mask or mouthpiece if you go to an antenatal class. The gas takes about 15 to 20 seconds to work, so you breathe it in just as a contraction begins. It works best if you take slow, deep breaths.
• Keep moving. Your position can make a difference, so try kneeling, walking around or rocking backwards and forwards.
Side effects
• Bring a partner, friend or relative to support you during labour, but if you don’t have anyone, don’t worry – your midwife will give you all the support you need. • Ask your partner to massage you (although you may find that you don’t want to be touched). • Have a bath.
30 l february/march 2016 l
There are no harmful side effects for you or the baby, but it can make you feel light-headed. Some women also find that it makes them feel sick, sleepy or unable to concentrate. If this happens, you can stop using it. If gas and air doesn’t give you enough pain relief, you can ask for a painkilling injection as well.
project-baby.co.uk
pregnancy .
Pethidine injections in labour Another form of pain relief is the intramuscular injection (into the muscle of your thigh or buttock) of a drug, such as pethidine or, less commonly, diamorphine. The injection can also help you to relax, which can lessen the pain.
How it works It takes about 20 minutes to work after the injection, and the effects last between two and four hours.
Side effects • It can make some women feel woozy, sick and forgetful. • If it hasn’t worn off towards the end of labour, it can make it difficult to push. You might prefer to ask for half a dose initially to see how it works for you. • If pethidine or diamorphine are given too close to the time of delivery, they may affect the baby’s breathing. If this happens, another drug to reverse the effect will be given. • The drugs can interfere with the baby’s first feed.
Epidurals An epidural is a special type of local anaesthetic. It numbs the nerves that carry the pain impulses from the birth canal to the brain. For most women, an epidural gives complete pain relief. It can be helpful for women who are having a long or particularly painful labour, or who are becoming distressed. An anaesthetist is the only person who can give an epidural, so it won’t be available if you give birth at home. If you think you might want one, check whether anaesthetists are always available at your hospital. How much you can move your legs after en epidural depends on the local anaesthetic used. Some units offer “mobile” epidurals, which means you can walk around. However, this also requires the baby’s heart rate to be monitored remotely (by telemetry) and many units don’t have the equipment to do this. Ask your midwife if mobile epidural is available in your local unit. An epidural can provide very good pain relief, but it’s not always 100% effective in labour. The Obstetric Anaesthetists Association estimates that one in eight women who have an epidural during labour need to use other methods of pain relief.
How it works • A drip will run fluid through a needle into a vein in your arm. • While you lie on your side or sit up in a curled position, an anaesthetist will clean your back with antiseptic, numb a small area with some local anaesthetic and then introduce a needle into your back. • A very thin tube will be passed through the needle into your back near the nerves that carry pain impulses from the uterus. Drugs, usually a mixture of local anaesthetic and opioid, are administered through this tube. (An opioid is a drug that binds to special opioid receptors in the body, reducing pain.) It takes about 10 minutes to set up the epidural, and another 10 to 15 minutes for it to work. It doesn’t always work perfectly at first and may need adjusting. • After it has been set up, the epidural can be topped up by your midwife, or you may be able to top up the epidural yourself through a machine. • Your contractions and the baby’s heart rate will need to be continuously monitored. This means having a belt around your abdomen and possibly a clip attached to the baby’s head.
Side effects • An epidural may make your legs feel heavy, depending on the local anaesthetic used. • An epidural shouldn’t make you sick or drowsy. • Your blood pressure can drop (hypotension); however, this is rare, because the fluid given through the drip in your arm helps to maintain good blood pressure. • Epidurals can prolong the second stage of labour. If you can no longer feel your contractions, the midwife will have to tell you when to push. This means that forceps or a ventouse may be needed to help deliver the baby’s head (instrumental delivery). When you have an epidural, your midwife or doctor will wait longer for the baby’s head to come down (before you start pushing). This reduces the chance that you will need an instrumental delivery. Sometimes, less anaesthetic is given towards the end, so that the effect wears off and you can push the baby out naturally. • You may find it difficult to pass urine as a result of the epidural. If so, a small tube called a catheter may be put into your bladder to help you. • About one in 100 women gets a headache after an epidural. If this happens, it can be treated. • Your back might be a bit sore for a while, but epidurals don’t cause long-term backache. • About one in 2,000 women feels tingles or pins and needles down one leg after having a baby. This is more likely to be the result of childbirth itself rather than the epidural. You’ll be advised by the doctor or midwife when you can get out of bed.

Water births

fertility aids
Water can help you relax and make the contractions seem less painful. Ask if you can have a bath or use a birth pool. The water will be kept at a comfortable temperature but not above 37.5C, and your temperature will be monitored. The National Childbirth Trust has information on using water during labour and birth.
TENS machines This stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. Some hospitals have TENS machines. If not, you can hire your own machine. TENS has not been shown to be effective during the active phase of labour (when contractions get longer, stronger and more frequent). It’s probably most effective during the early stages, when many women experience low back pain. TENS may also be useful while you’re at home in the early stages of labour or if you plan to give birth at home. If you’re interested in TENS, learn how to use it in the later months of your pregnancy. Ask your midwife to show you how it works.
How TENS machines work Electrodes are taped onto your back and connected by wires to a small battery-powered stimulator. Holding this, you give yourself small, safe amounts of current through the electrodes. You can move around while you use TENS. TENS is believed to work by stimulating the body to produce more of its own natural painkillers, called endorphins. It also reduces the number of pain signals that are sent to the brain by the spinal cord.

Alternative methods of labour pain relief Some women prefer to avoid the types of pain relief listed on this article, and choose alternative treatments such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, homeopathy, hypnosis, massage and reflexology. Most of these techniques are not proven to provide effective pain relief. If you’d like to use any of these methods, it’s important to discuss them with your midwife or doctor and let the hospital know beforehand. Most hospitals don’t offer them for pain relief during labour. If you want to try any of these techniques, make sure that the practitioner is properly trained and experienced. Baby Jabs
YOUR SCHEDULE
Here’s a checklist of the vaccines that are routinely offered to everyone in the UK for free on the NHS, and the ages at which they should ideally be given.
If you’re not sure whether you or your child have had all your routine vaccinations, ask your GP or practice nurse to find out for you. It may be possible to “catch up” later in life. Try to make sure you or your child have vaccinations delivered on time to ensure protection. If you’re going to be away from the GP surgery when a vaccination is due, talk to your doctor. It may be possible to arrange for vaccination at a different location.

From 3 years and 4 months (up to starting school) • Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, second dose. • 4-in-1 (DTaP/IPV) pre-school booster, given as a single jab containing vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis) and polio.
commen questions Can my baby go swimming before or after vaccinations?
Vaccines work by stimulating our immune system to produce antibodies (substances produced by the body to fight disease) without actually infecting us with the disease. They trigger the immune system to produce its own antibodies, as though the body has been infected with a disease. This is called “active immunity”. If the vaccinated person then comes into contact with the disease itself, their immune system will recognise it and immediately produce the antibodies they need to fight it. Newborn babies are already protected against several diseases, such as measles, mumps and rubella, because antibodies have passed into them from their mothers via the placenta. This is called “passive immunity”. Passive immunity only lasts for a few weeks or months. In the case of measles, mumps and rubella, it may last up to one year (which is why the MMR jab is given to children just after their first birthday).
You can take your baby swimming at any age, both before and after they have been vaccinated. It doesn’t matter if they haven’t yet completed their course of vaccinations.
How Vaccines are Made?
Some leisure facilities may suggest that babies shouldn’t go swimming until they have had all of their jabs. However, this advice probably dates back to when polio was common and people were concerned it could spread in busy places, such as public swimming pools.
The first step is to make the organism (called the pathogen) that produces the disease. The pathogen is a virus or a bacterium. Viruses and bacteria can be mass produced in the laboratory by infecting cells grown in tissue culture.
Why aren’t children in the UK vaccinated against chickenpox?
The pathogen must then be altered to ensure that it doesn’t trigger the disease itself. This can be done by:
The chickenpox vaccine is not part of the UK childhood vaccination programme. It is used to protect people who are most at risk of serious complications from chickenpox infection, such as:
weakening, or “attenuating”, it by growing it repeatedly to select a strain that’s less dangerous – MMR vaccines are attenuated taking out the part of the pathogen that causes the immune response and using this in the vaccine – the Hib vaccine is made in this way using the toxin that the pathogen makes and inactivating it – this is how the tetanus vaccine is produced.
• pregnant women. • people who have weakened immune systems, such as from HIV or through treatments such as chemotherapy. Chickenpox is usually a mild illness, particularly in children. The condition is so common in childhood that 90% of adults who grow up in the UK are immune to the chickenpox virus because they have had it before.
The treated pathogen is then combined with other ingredients, such as stabilisers and preservatives, to produce a vaccine dose. project-baby.co.uk

7 Ways
to Lose your
pregnancy weight
Avoid these post-baby weight gaining situations and you’ll shift those extra pounds
By Andrea Cottee www.madeformums.com
Lapping up my childrens’ leftovers, eating chocolate ‘for energy’ and grabbing on-the-go foods have seen me pile on the weight even after pregnancy. I should be slipping into skinny jeans by now – my youngest is over 2 years old. But it’s all literally gone pear-shaped since I became a mum. “Time, or rather lack of it, is a huge issue facing mums,” says life coach Lynette Allen. “Once you have children, they become your priority, and their eating habits concern you more than your own. It’s quick and easy to satisfy your hunger with unhealthy fixes that put on weight.”

health & fitness
Here are the danger zones to avoid, to help you lose that leftover pregnancy weight.
Danger zone 1: Brea s tfeedin g bin ges One of the first presents I received on becoming a mum was a bar of chocolate. It was big. The length of my 6lb 12oz newborn in fact. “You’ll need it for feeding,” said my friend Jo. “It’ll increase the calcium in your milk.” True? Or just the start of a serious weight-inducing habit? “There are certainly more nutritious ways to up your calcium intake, like nibbling on cheese cubes or eating a natural yogurt,” says nutritional therapist Sally Gordon.
“Unlike chocolate, which gives you a buzz and then a crash, these sugar-free snacks help sustain your energy levels, meaning you’ll crave less food.” “Stockpile healthy snacks that are easy to grab before you’re stuck on the sofa feeding,” adds Lynette. “A little preparation can stop a lot of extra weight going on.”
Danger zone 2: Ca ffein e Personally, I believe all new parents should be immediately hooked up on coffee drips to combat fatigue. But according to the experts, caffeine plays havoc with our blood sugar, lowering levels and causing cravings. And adding sugar messes with your metabolism, too. “Instead, try whizzing up a fresh fruit, live yogurt and skimmed milk smoothie to keep in the fridge. You’ll get a sweet but nutrient-rich boost when you need it,” says nutritional therapist Sally. Distraction can work wonders too. “A lot of eating is habit,” says life coach Lynette. “Creating another ritual that doesn’t involve food avoids weight gain.”
Danger zone 3: Ea tin g your baby’s food
Danger zone 6: Hom e ba kin g
There’s no harm to be had from your baby’s pure fruit and vegetable purees but scoffing her snacks can hinder your weight loss. Yes, even if they are organic! “I can’t get enough of Katie’s rusks!” confesses Jo, 28, mum to Katie, 7 months. “They make me feel like a child again – until I clock my ballooning belly in the mirror!” “There’s a lot of nostalgia in eating,” admits Lynette. “Certain foods remind us of happy times, but comfort eating can play havoc with your figure. Next time you eat, ask yourself, ‘Am I really hungry? Why am I eating this?’” If you’re bored or stressed, work on changing your moods, rather than using food to lift them.”
Cooking may be great for bonding with your toddler, but baking cakes can be rubbish for your figure – especially if you’re in the habit of over-catering. “Make sure that you only cook what you should reasonably eat in that day,” says Lynette. “Or if you make too much, give one of your neighbours a treat by packaging up any extra cakes and dropping them round.” Again, baking wholegrain rather than white treats is better for your digestion and energy levels, so look for the healthiest recipes you can find.
We’re not saying don’t snack, just make it healthy.
Danger zone 7: Superma rk et habits
Danger zone 4: Coffee morn in gs
If your pre-schooler’s pester power has you giving in and topping up your trolley with bags of sugary snacks or crisps, you need to change your shopping habits to lose weight.
Granted, swapping stories with other mums is a healthy thing to do, but filling your face with pastry items while you do it isn’t. “It’s hard to have coffee without biscuits, but because they’re high in sugar and crammed with refined carbohydrates, they hamper your energy levels and digestive system,” says nutritional therapist Sally Gordon.
“Having unhealthy snacks in the house only brings temptation, so buy individual
“Wholegrain varieties, such as muffins or oatcakes, are a much better option. They release energy at a slower rate so you need to eat less throughout the day.”
“I keep my kids’ treats in a tin with a picture of me at my slimmest on the lid,”
treats, one at a time,” says Lynette. And if you do have them at home, keep a few antisnacking tricks up your sleeve.
says Jenny, 34, mum to Ryan, 2, and Freya, 4. “Now, whenever I get the urge to tuck in, the picture reminds me of how I want to look and it stops me from snacking.”
Danger zone 5: Baby m ea ltim e Do you pick at your baby’s mealtime leftovers? “You don’t need extra calories if you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding,” says life coach Lynette Allen. Admittedly, it’s hard to let perfectly good food go to waste, but eating out of guilt won’t help your waistline. And it could carry on past the baby phase and into toddlerhood. “Betsy’s leftovers are such a temptation I squirt washing-up liquid over them when she’s finished,” says Lisa, 29, mum to Betsy, 2,“Unsurprisingly, it’s stopped me picking!”

Tips for flying with a baby
1-12 Weeks…
My daughter’s first trip was when she was 11 months. My son came with us on our first family trip when he was just 10 weeks. Bub’s traveled quite a bit for a two-year-old, and he’s been on planes at pretty much every developmental stage of his life. Some trips were easy. Some trips were tough. But they were all worth it!
www.clubmed.co.uk
Tips For Flying With An Infant
3-6 Months…
Flying with an infant of this age means one thing for mom (or dad)… You’re Busy. But this is also one of the more rewarding and fun times to travel with your baby. They’re alert, you can usually figure out what they need when they need it, and they’re still quite easily distracted.
Cancún Yucatán Cancún, Mexico
A short distance from the town, at the tip of the bay, the Resort covers an expanse of 22 hectares between the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and the lagoon. Thirty years ago, Club Med was the first holiday resort to take advantage of this white sand beach and gardens of coloured coral, and the superb Mayan sites that make such enchanting excursions.
www.clubmed.co.uk
Unlike newborns, babies of this age are at least in the beginning stages of a routine, and while that makes your life easier as a parent, an understandable fear is blowing that routine by hitting the road.
Tips For Flying With An Infant
6-12 Months…
We’ve flown with our kids during this stage more than any other. And just how many pictures do we have of us on board the aircraft? Zero! Flying with an infant of this age means one thing for mom and dad and anyone else in your traveling party… You’re. Busy. And if you’ve got an early walker on your hands (lap)? Even. Busier. But this does not mean that flying has to be unpleasant. Unlike newborns, and younger babies, infants of this age are even more interactive than their younger selves, usually well-established into a sleeping and eating routine (that will not be blown away permanently by a few disruptions due to travel – promise!) and while you may be starting the exciting but nerve-wracking and messy process of starting solids, you can now (or soon!) take advantage of the calming and distracting power of SNACKS.
Tips For Flying With A Young Toddler
12-24 Months… Even if you have a well-traveled infant, all bets are off once they enter the world of young toddlerhood. As things change for your little one, you need to change your expectations, and come up with new tricks for managing sticky situations. Flying with a toddler is no exception. And young, pre-verbal toddlers can definitely give you a run for your money.

Egg stroller
Louise Says:- I love the shape of the Egg, it screams look at me. It’s really easy to manoeuvre and the hidden pocket for the raincovers is a blessing.
Sally Says:- First of all the break in the handle bar is genius, no more pushing bags out of the way to get to it. I am a huge fan of the luxury collection and was lucky enough to trial it for 2 weeks. It was fantastic for all occasions and even on the dog walks it was easy and not a struggle to push across the fields. The fold is under the seat and folds nice and flat. It really was so easy to get about and going up and down curbs was a breeze. I had all my mummy friends round to see it and they all agreed it was rather lovely. Ben Says:- We were sent this to review for a couple of weeks so knowing in advance that it was arriving I watched the videos on their website which were really handy. As a man allot of prams are quite directed towards the mums but this one I was more than happy to be seen pushing. With the big wheels and the leather handle bars I just loved the style, my wife loved it just as much and we feel it is perfect for those sunday football matches. When my wife and I go out for the day with our baby and 5 year old we often take EVERYTHING so it is great that the basket underneath is huge and has a lovely depth to it. The bottle holder is also a great extra, I only wished it had been a little bit more upright because it wasn’t able to hold my morning coffee. It was very handy with the break being by the handle bar rather than hunting around with your foot and finding everything but the break. The only thing I would do different is include the Raincover but the design and style is Luxury and to perfection.
Bianca says:- Got to trial for a week and was so sad to have to give it back. I love that it’s so easy to put to double. I also love the detail on the hood as it really ties in the leather handle and bumper bar. I would of liked a slightly bigger basket. But I cant fault it. Price from: £699.00 www.eggstroller.com

When we took it out for a spin I couldn’t believe how easy it was to fold and I have to agree with Ben and Sally, the break being by the handle is really well positioned. The 12” air tyres kept our journey smooth across all terrain and it really is so easy to manoeuvre, one of the easiest on the market in fact. The Carry cot was a bit of a flaff, I expected it to come already set up and putting on the frame drove me mad at times but that aside I really love the style and push. The basket has ample room and has 4 pockets, 2 of which are zipped so a great extra to keep phone and purse.
Naomi Says:- I’m a big fan of the Stokke Crusi, not only is it absolutely gorgeous, utterly stylish and totally modern, it’s practical, easy to use, adaptable, parent and child friendly and a pushchair that simply ticks all of the boxes. I love the Black Melange fabric, you can see other mums checking out your pram as you walk by. It’s a really good push and the basket is very spacious, I love that you can add a sibling seat, this pram really can grow with your family. You have to remove the seat to fold but it does fold compact and fits in a fiat 500 boot.

First Aid
Head
Injuries It is extremely common for babies and children to bang their heads and it can be difficult to assess how seriously they are hurt and what you should do about it. Fortunately, most head injuries are superficial, just involving the scalp and this can be more frightening than life threatening. The head and face are extremely vascular and consequently bleed profusely. However a severe blow to the head or repeated injuries can cause damage to the brain and it is signs of this that people need to look out for.
If it is a slightly older child, who has not lost consciousness and is alert and behaving normally after the head injury: • Apply a wrapped ice pack or instant cold pack to the injured area for 10 minutes – this will only reduce bruising and has no effect on the severity of any internal head injury, so only do this if it doesn’t cause them any additional distress. • Observe your child carefully for at least the next 24 hours. Ensure other people looking after your little one remain vigilant too. If you notice any worrying signs (see below), get medical help immediately. • If the incident has occurred close to bedtime or naptime and your child falls asleep soon afterwards, check in continually to look for anything unusual – in particular; twitching limbs or disturbances in colour or breathing. It is ok for your child to go to sleep – there is no need to keep a child awake after a head injury. However do not confuse falling asleep with losing consciousness!

Cuddledry Baby Bath Towel
A true must-have for every new mum or dad at bathtime The gorgeously soft and snuggly Cuddledry ‘handsfree’ baby towel has been said to have revolutionised bath times for parents across the country, and since we got our hands on one it’s easy to see why. Made from silky bamboo fibre and pure cotton, the Cuddledry towel cocoons your baby in a warm embrace, so you can literally cuddle your baby dry. Susanne, mum of four, says, “The Cuddledry towel is great because you wear it like an apron around your neck, so you have two hands free to safely lift your baby from the water. It also keeps you dry, so it’s perfect for when they’re a little older and discover the joy of splashing at bath time!”
Cuddledry also say that because their hands free towel is bigger than most other baby towels, this one will last you and your baby a lot longer too. Not only that, but the natural bamboo fibre means it stays super soft wash after wash, no matter how often you do the laundryanother reason why parents who use them say they would never use any other towel for their baby. We also love the fact that the Cuddledry hands free towel has a generous hood to help keep baby warm until it’s time to get dressed. A real winner when it comes to making bath and bedtime as easy and stress free as possible!

Family Kitchen Cookbook - Caroline
“An impressive feat…an immensely entertaining, moving and believable read” (Atlanta Journal-Constitution), this debut novel in the bestselling tradition of P.S. I Love You revolves around a young woman with breast cancer who undertakes a mission to find a new wife for her husband before she passes away.
Karmel
Twenty-seven-year-old Daisy already beat breast cancer four years ago. How can this be happening to her again? On the eve of what was supposed to be a triumphant “Cancerversary” with her husband Jack to celebrate four years of being cancer-free, Daisy suffers a devastating blow: her doctor tells her that the cancer is back, but this time it’s an aggressive stage four diagnosis. She may have as few as four months left to live. Death is a frightening prospect—but not because she’s afraid for herself. She’s terrified of what will happen to her brilliant but otherwise charmingly helpless husband when she’s no longer there to take care of him. It’s this fear that keeps her up at night, until she stumbles on the solution: she has to find him another wife.
the list - Joanna Bolouri The List is the hilarious debut novel from Scottish comedienne Joanna Bolouri. Phoebe Henderson may be single but she sure doesn’t feel fabulous. It’s been a year since she found her boyfriend Alex in bed with another woman, and winefueled nights of relationship analysis with her best friend Lucy have done nothing to improve her dating situation. Faced with another year without love, Phoebe confronts her fears and decides to forgo romantic love altogether. She comes up with The List: ten things she’s always wanted to do in bed but has never had the courage to try. One year of pleasure, no strings attached. Simple, right?
Girl Before a Mirror - Liza Palmer A successful account executive juggles her recent divorce, a beautiful (and much younger) new colleague, and a potential romance that seems like the stuff of fantasies rather than real life. Liza Palmer’s Girl Before a Mirror tells the story of a woman finding her own happiness while embracing all of the good and bad that life brings.

Breast milk is the best start in life for babies. When you start to breastfeed, it will be new for you and your baby. You’ll find it’s something you’ll learn together. Some mums decide not to breastfeed or it just doesnt work how they expected it to, and that is okay too.
Only the best
Breastfeeding products
Here is a step by step guide to breast feeding but remember every baby is different. Clean hands and comfort
Lift up
It’s always best to have clean hands and when you sit down to breastfeed, make sure your back is straight and your lap flat. To help prevent backache, it’s a good idea to pop a couple of cushions behind you. A cushion on your knees will help bring your baby closer to your breast if you need it. And remember to keep a glass of water close by in case you become thirsty.
When your baby’s nose is in line with your nipple, their mouth should be wide open, enough to cover your nipple and the lower part of the dark areola around it. If they don’t do this straight away, gently move their head and brush their top lip across your nipple.
Gettin g the right position
Although latching on sounds a bit scary, it really isn’t. And when your baby is successfully latched on, their chin should be touching your breast and your baby should have a big mouthful of breast. Supporting your breast may help your baby, and do make sure they’re breathing easily.
Put your baby on the cushion on your lap and support their head, shoulders and body in a straight line. Make sure their nose is opposite your nipple and allow their head to tilt back, still supporting it with one hand while you use the other to hold your baby on its side.
La tch on
Ooh, tha t tin gles
How often shou ld I brea s tfeed? Early and often! Breastfeed as soon as possible after birth, then breastfeed at least 8 to 12 times every 24 hours.
How lon g should feedin gs be? Feedings may be 15 to 20 minutes or longer per breast. But there is no set time Your baby will let you know.
When your milk begins to flow (known as the let-down reflex), you’ll hear your baby swallowing and see their jaw moving. As your flow increases, you may feel some tingly sensations in your breast - don’t worry, it’s all quite normal.
Snoob Breast feeding scarf Price: £25.00 www.angelmaternity.co.uk
Cybex Sirona
Medela Freestyle Breastpump Price: £329.99 www.medela.com
Full yet? It is important to let your baby feed for as long as they want so they have enough to satisfy both their hunger and their thirst. The more your baby drinks, the more milk your breasts produce. If you think your baby still wants more milk and your breast feels empty, offer the other breast
All don e Your baby will let you know when they have finished - either by letting go of your breast or falling asleep. Now it’s time to wind or burp them. Keep a muslin cloth over your shoulder as a little milk can often come up.

Fun for all the family..... Why should it be the children that have all the fun, its so much more fun if the parents can have a go too. With Micro Scotter they have a scooter for every stage, even matching ones for mum and dad, how cool, and as ever since Henry learned to ride a scooter I have struggled to keep up with him.
As you can tell with this edition I am on a fitness mission and getting to grips with adult scooters seems a good way to start! I had not ridden a scooter since I was about 10 but thought it looked really easy and thought it wouldn’t feel like exercise at all, how wrong I was! It is great exercise and you can really feel the burn, instead of walking to the shops all four of us often scoot. We are lucky enough to live close to Brighton sea front so family scooting weekends are top of our weekend activities. So how about, rather than standing on the sidelines watching your kids get all that exercise, you join in too and incorporate it as a fun part of your fitness routine? Who says exercise has to involve a gym? Get your kids involved, have a giggle and give yourself a workout at the same time! Take a look at the Micro Scooters website for exercise ideas for the whole family. Make sure you check out the whole range because they really do come in a ray of colours and styles to suit everyone. Dad Says: Popping to the shops is now much easier, I mean why walk when you can just roll. Mum Says: Its great to join in with the kiddies and have a laugh and makes the school run a lot more fun too. Great way to exercise without even realising your doing it. Henry 10 Says;- All my mates have scooters but I wasn’t so confident on two wheels so the thicker wheels really gave me more stability. Micro scooters are really easy to get to grips with. Polly Ann 2 Owner of a Mini micro Says; Again Again whoosh!

Pampers have invented a nappy that wont sag and will stay dry for upto 12 hours complete with magic pods. Say goodbye to saggy nappies. The new design features ‘magical pods’ which aim to spread the urine evenly and expands 30 times their size, which helps prevent the sag and helps keep your little ones bum drier for longer, helps baby walk and move about without the rubbing of saggy nappies. Dr Ellie Cannon, GP and Pampers Love, Sleep & Play expert says: ‘High quality movement like dance not only helps build babies’ cognitive and motor skills, but also it instills confidence and resilience for the future because it helps develop baby’s imagination, dexterity, physical, cognitive and emotional strength. But, for a baby to gain all the developmental benefits of moving freely without restrictions, they need a nappy that doesn’t hold them back. We made our own YouTube video for you to watch so don’t take our word for it see for yourself. Try the nappies yourself and upload using the #Babygrooves with a video of your little one dancing in their new more comfortable nappy.

Cocoonababy® nest welcomes baby gently into the world, providing him or her with a comforting, reassuring, well-defined space which reminds him of his mother’s womb, the Cocoonababy® helps the newborn adapt the best way possible following birth. The semi-foetal, slightly curved position which baby adopts in the cocoon, soothes and brings reassurances. The Cocoonababy® is an ergonomic cocoon which repositions the child in the semifoetal position he adopted in his mummy’s tummy. Tara Says: I love the cocoonababy for William, it made his nights more comfortable with colic and I loved the reassurance that he wouldn’t roll on his front or wake himself kicking the side bars. A real asset that I will be sharing with my friends as they enter parenthood. Terry Says: Super comfort for our little lady, we saw an instant difference in settling times at night with this and we love it. Price: £129.95 www.johnlewis.com

Vicks Humidifier
Knuma
When we talk about design, Knuma really do come up trumps, not only are their designs beautiful they are versatile and designed to grow with your little ones. The Huddle starts as a crib for co sleeping and once your finished with it, it transforms into a desk complete with bench.
Vicks Cool mist humidifier with projector. Quick and simple to set up. The vapour pads are not suitable for children under three. Even without the pad it definitely helped our little girl and older son breath easier through their colds. The water tank is big enough to easily last through the night. The Projector didn’t give a good quality projection which was a shame but overall it is a great product. Price: £54.99 www.tesco.com

Diddi Dance
rugbytots Rugbytots is the first of its kind; a specifically designed play programme using the multiple skills of Rugby to create a fun and enjoyable environment whilst developing basic core motor skills.
Water Babies is the UK’s leading baby swim school, teaching a core skill to hundreds of babies & children every week. The courses are very different to traditional swimming lessons. For a start, because they only use warm water pools, babies can join them from birth. At Diddi Dance they realise and encourage endless enthusiasm and energy in an action packed, full of fun 45 minute dance class. Using various dancing games and exercises, bells, hoops and dance ribbons to their own funky pop songs so your little one not only improves their rhythm and co-ordination but also their social and gross motor skills. Classes are ideally suited for both boys and girls between 2-4 years old, however they have had children as young as 16 months.
All Rugbytots lead coaches are paediatric first aiders, Rugby qualified coaches, CRB checked and trained to a very high standard to ensure your children enjoy their time at Rugbytots in a safe and organised environment.
