Objectives
To calculate the light power density ie. LPD of a residence . The existing condition is then compared with the recommended LPD as suggested by ECBC,2009

Procedure All measurements were taken on single floor of my residence Measurement of floor area Compare the LPD of all the rooms with that given in ECBC Propose a energy efficient retrofitting
Note : LPD can be calculated in 2 ways : Space - function wise and building type wise. In the former one the wattage of all the lamps in a single room are added and then divided by the area of the room to obtain the LPD of that particular room and then we compare it with the values provided in ECBC. In the latter one the sum of the wattage of all the lamps is divided by the total built up area of that floor and the result is compared with the value given in ECBC and should not be more than 7.5 W/m2 if the value exceeds 7.5W/m2 then retrofitting is necessary.
