dents for class reunions, family reunions, weddings, get-togethers and summer celebrations. “People will love to come,” said Andrew Kilian, event chair
for 2019. “There is so much fun planned we couldn’t fit it all on the poster.” Downtown Hamilton events on Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. include

Business have been encouraged to have fun games. Kilian said they include giant Jenga, Corn Hole (at River Rising), the Bitterroot Bouncer’s rock climbing wall (at the intersection of Main and Third streets), a miniature obstacle course (Sapphire Chiropractic) and safe jarts. “It is a game like lawn jarts but without sharp pointy things,” Kilian said. “The elephant walk is another fun game. People put stockings on their heads with softballs in there. They have to get down on all fours and be side-by-side to knock over the water bottles. It is silly and fun.” Kilian said the Bar Bangers are doing “something spectacular.” “They are and afterschool program involving motor cycles for at risk youth,” he said. “There will be Power Wheel races and the Cybernet One dinosaur mascot will be making appearances both days. There will be picture booth cut outs downtown and at the mansion and participants will have a chance to win a gift basket.” Bitterroot Warrior Arts will do a demonstration on Friday (at noon) and Legacy Martial arts will do demonstrations on Friday and Saturday (times to be determined). Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf will have his dunking booth at Daly Days on Friday and every one can have a chance to dunk the mayor with proceeds going to Hamilton Downtown Association, city fireworks, Sapphire Lutheran Homes, and Bitterroot Celtic Games and Gathering.

25 Annual brewfest th
al mitchell | bitterroot chamber of commerce president
Join the fun at the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 25th annual Microbrew Festival in Hamilton on Saturday, July 27. Al Mitchell, director, said the event was started in 1995 for fun by Dale Barry who was then president of the BVCC. “He heard about a Brewfest in Portland and thought it sounded like a good time to open a few kegs of beer and make a little money for the chamber,” Mitchell said. “It took off. I think Bitterroot Brewing opened in 1998 so it was a little ahead of the brewery. Wild Hare Brewing
was here in Hamilton at the time.” According the website of the Montana Brewers Association that formed in 2008, there are 49 breweries across the state. “Breweries are still growing and still popular,” Mitchell said. The first year the Brewfest had 12 beers for tasting. This year there are 60 beers, 10 different food vendors and two bands providing live music Reverend Slanky and Tight Line. The event is from 3 – to p.m. across from Legion Park on Bedford Street.

Admission costs $20 for a commemorative glass with 25th year logo and five tastes. “We open 40 kegs and will have close to 60 flavors by the time we are done,” Mitchell said. After tasting voting begins. People’s Choice and Chick’s Choice winners have bragging rights. Mitchell said he always worries about the weather as it hailed just before the event last year, but is hoping all will be well.
About 3,000 people come to the event. “Not everyone has a beer,” he said. “They come for the music, the food and the fun. Last year was a big year, our biggest event yet. healthy natural homemade soaps, water colors, clothing, jackets, wire jewelry, porcupine jewelry, stained glass, photo card, salsa mix (spices), lawn art, folk art, photographs of Montana, bird houses, aprons, log furniture and an author. “Everything is homemade,” Becker said. “All the craft people in the valley are welcome and everything is art to us. The race is a good event for spectators to enjoy and cheer on the athletes. Medical help is available. “As far as the run and bike courses there are no support stations for food or water so runners have to support themselves on that,” Butler said. “But there is medical help available at different
places throughout the course and Marcus Daly usually has an ambulance staged there as well.” Butler said the sponsors, support and contributions made the race possible. Sponsors include West Hills Assisted Living, Ravalli Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Kopavi Systems Inc., Hamilton Physical Therapy,
