On the 50th anniversary of Sanyu’s death, the French born Chinese painter, the National Museum of History is holding a grand exhibition with 49 of his late oil-paintings and 3 sketches which had been bought by private collectors. Embracing the three main subjects of San Yu’s corpus, human body, still-life, and animals on landscapes, the paintings of this exhibition are the one of highest quality, from the most reliable sources, and world-renowned. Two among these works, “Chrysanthemums” and “Four Female Nudes”, have been classified as important antiques due to their high artistic value, and they will be displayed to show the restoration process of Sanyu’s paintings.
Prince Aga Khan IV was born in Paris. His father, Aga Khan III, was leader of the Nizari Ismaili Muslims. Aga Khan IV has devoted his life to public service and has been working with the United Nations for nearly forty years. Keen on art, culture, and environmental protection, he loves to collect Islamic Art. This exhibition will feature more than 100 pieces of Art Deco style pieces from his jewelry collection.
An inflatable pig was recently set to float above the roof of the Victoria & Albert Museum. It is not a toy from our childhood memories, but a symbol of the British rock band Pink Floyd, which had the image of a pig printed on the classic cover of their 1977 album “Animals”. This retrospective exhibition will present to all music lovers the rock-and-roll essence and masterpieces accumulated for over 50 years by the half-century-old band.

The installation of the American artist Maira Kalman ’ s exhibition has been inspired by the neatly organized, all-white closet which once belonged to her mother Berman. It represents her life in New York from 1982 up to her death in 2004. Maira was born in 1949 in Israel and emigrated to America in 1953 , now she lives in New York. Her artistic creations cover many fields: literature, illustration, design, etc. Her most famous works include children ’ s illustrations and literary compositions.
The Hermitage Museum is located in St. Petersburg, together with the 6 buildings composing the Winter Palace, it was once imperial residence of the Russian Tsar. The Hermitage hosts the world’s largest art collection, containing 3 . 1 million pieces. During this exhibition 85 pieces will be displayed, divided totally in 6 thematic units: Italian Renaissance, Netherlands Golden Age, French Baroque and Rococo Art, Spanish Religious Paintings, Outstanding Works from Germany and England.
Having collected more than one hundred garments and 20 top design hats by Cristóbal Balenciaga, Mr. Dior once said: “ Haute couture is like an orchestra, for which only Balenciaga is the conductor. The rest of us are just musicians, following the directions he gives us”. When during the 50s the “New Look” trend was still popular, Balenciaga was already looking at the future, challenging the limits of fashion. He is without any doubt one of the most influential fashion designers of the 20th century.

Ever since the term of “ Art Brut ” was invented by Jean Dubuffet in the 1960s, to the birth of “La Figuration Libre” of the 1980s, we have been through the rise of
rock-and-roll, graffiti, freedom of speech, as people seek for freedom of expressions as their core values. The result of this social phenomenon gave birth to the rise of “ La Figuration Libre ” . Combas draws inspirations from his surroundings, and often depicts various kinds of people as his centre theme; he uses bold black contour lines and protruding eyes to depict the world he sees. The studio of Combas was situated at Barbés near the Gare du Nord of Paris, an area that is surrounded with multi-cultures and ethnicity groups; whether it be the brightly-colou red African clothing, 1

未開發寶藏 木斯塘佛像 Undiscovered Treasure: Mustang Buddhist Figures 從地域的角度來看,有些佛像板塊的價 值是被嚴重低估的。例如尼泊爾、帕拉、 丹薩替寺、元大都,這幾個地域的佛像, 由於都有人在推廣,因而現在也被世人所 熟知。然而佛教發展的歷史源遠流長,佛 像流傳的地域廣闊,還是有很多不同地域 及風格的佛像,其價值還沒有被發覺。這 樣的佛像還沒有被藏家所關注及喜愛,並 不是因為它們不存在於這個市場或者沒有 價值,而是大多數藏家還沒有涉獵及認真 的學習研究;但同時,這也代表了其收藏 中蘊含的無窮潛力。筆者認為,木斯 蘊含的無窮潛力。筆者認為,木斯 塘佛像正是這樣一個還未被許多 人發現的寶藏。
