I’M A MAGAZINE NOW
Once again, Colin’s, the globetrotter brand, traveled to an urban, hip scenery to mingle with the crowd and get inspired. In Williamsburg, Brooklyn a team of local creative people worked for this fourth issue to melt their lifestyle with Colin’s cosmopolitan attitude and to turn this image brochure into a magazine. To shoot the S/S 2010 collection, we worked together with photographer Catherine Westergaard and stylist Joshua Liebmann who also works for singer Katy Perry, while photographer Thomas Lohr worked with us for the new Colin’s product catalogue. Contrary to the ruff area of old fabric halls at the East River bank where we shot, the model casting was hosted at the Gild Hall Hotel, in New York City’s financial district. In Williamsburg, we were searching for the latest trends among bands, bars, artists, shops, bookstores, record labels, flea markets and clubs. Inside this mag you will find a map with hotspots together with portraits of the Who is Who in “The Burg”. Also inside here, learn more about Colin’s latest project, the Limited Editions of textile and non-textile products. With the season of Spring / Summer 2010, Colin’s will launch its first edition of Shirts in collaboration with miscellaneous international artists. It’s time to get you amazed! Have fun! Mathyou von China’s real name is Mathew Scheiner. „Scheiner sounds like China if you pretend you’re from Mississippi“ he explains. Two names - one person. Mathew or Mathyou makes the beats, plays the guitar and keys and sings while he manages the sound effects. That alone should be a reason to go and watch one of Von China’s shows. So what does it sound like? Matt says: “It’s kind of what you’d expect to hear when you take
some acid and walk into a caribbean soul/ disco dance party in Brooklyn“. Brooklyn, especially Williamsburg is his inspiration. „You’re surrounded by an unfathomable amount of music. It’s a petri dish of creativity, very competitive. If you play your cards right, it brings out the best form your music.“ Sounds like Von China is playing his cards very well…
The name is self-explanatory: Analogue Transit represents the transition of sound from analog to digital. The Brooklyn-based duo, however, is more than just a catchy name. Jeff and Kwaku’s individual style is an exciting fusion of familiar sounds and melodies paired with unique rhythms and in-
timate lyrics. Inspired by time and space, imagination and thought provocative movies, these guys already seduced audiences at the Brooklyn Festival, at the Music NY Festival, in the Playground Revitilazation Project and many more. This brilliant and talented duo is definitely a thing you shouldn’t miss…

DUSTIN MOUNCE
PICTURE 03/04 WWW.DUSTINMOUNCE.COM
Vernon lives and works in Brooklyn since received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1995. His works have been shown all across the United States and are part of numerous collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Vernon’s paintings draw upon an incredibly varied pool of influences, from abstract
expressionism, to post pop surrealism and the polished finish of figurative realism. Formally, his work is about the deconstruction, and hence the necessary reconstruction of visual space. Each painting has it’s own set of rules, or rather the rules are being bent, broken and ultimately formed within each painting.
«I produce my best work at 3 a.m. in my garage listening to Dub Reggae» He loves to work with acrylic, water-based oil paint, conte, spray paint, various inks, and random paint in the sales bin. “I started with most of these because they would last me longer than the OJ trial and are cheaper than a bean burrito with sour cream“ Dustin explains. His ideas come from photography, movies, music, feelings, his own head, and his random mental studies of people in the streets. „I don’t have a set creative process, but I like to draw at ran-
dom and usually on any paper within reach.“ Then he’ll photocopy a drawing and add more to it by taping paper to it so he has more room to draw. „I’m still trying sketchbooks, but I love sketching on envelopes.“ The most gratifying thing about creating art for Dustin is the motivation he gains from constantly thinking he could do better. “My dream would be wake up and create art in my underwear, while I eat a ginormous bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.“ This guy is doing what he loves and how can you not love what he is doing?
