New York State Department of Motor Vehicles

Our task was nothing less than to change the relationship between government and the people it serves.

4

The Jewish Community Project Downtown

A cross-section of people coming together to form a new community center in downtown Manhattan is given shape in the venn diagram of JCP’s logo.

6

Trinsum

The therefore sign (∴) is used before stating a logical consequence in mathematics and logical arguments. We inverted this symbol to suggest the letter “T, as the perfect visual foundation for a new business consultancy focused on merging analytical science with expertise.

8

Feather

We helped conceive this startup — from name to logo to website to app — with the ambitious goal of reinventing the way homeowners and businesses manage their construction and maintenance projects.

CiviCRM

This open-source software project needed to present a modern face to an increasingly competitive sector. We created a branding system that reflects the product’s ability to collect and organize user data.

CIVICRM

Driven by Deloitte

We mobilized Deloitte’s data with a multifaceted strategy—from the web to native smartphone app—under the umbrella of this new, fast-moving brand.

The Alliance of Information and Referral Systems

We worked with The Alliance to make the critical but underappreciated work of the information and referral industry friendly and relatable.

16

Center for the Critical Analysis of Social Difference

The Center seeks to explore and understand our differences. Our logo reveals a truth hidden in plain sight: inside everything is something else—distinct but essential.

Brain Media

We hear not with our ears, but rather with our brain. The wordmark of this logo uses the shared dot on the two letters “I in the company’s name to suggest a neuron cell - the focus of the advanced science behind their technology.

Bluebird CRM

The New York State Senate is a notoriously contentious governing body. To ease the adoption of software that we developed to allow Senate offices to keep in touch with the state’s 20 million residents, we created this friendly brand, referencing New York’s state official (and quintessentially helpful and resilient) bird.

22

Homesteady

We named and branded this Californiabased construction company with global ambitions. Our goal was to connect their values of integrity and honest hard work with the homesteading tradition that settled the American West.

TCC Group

Following a renaming, this mission-driven consulting firm needed a branding concept that emphasized the data-focused approach they bring to their work. Inspired by the periodic table, we built a system that imposed a scientific logic to all of their digital and print materials.

Made Fresh Daily

Taking the lead from their innovative menu - imagine the ‘70s Orange Julius reborn with organic yogurt, fresh-squeezed OJ and honey - we designed MFD’s identity, signage, packaging and Web site. The resulting bold white and lemonyellow logo graces their storefront, chalkboard menu, Web site and even the occasional pumpkin.

Global Health Partners

Uniting American doctors, technology and expertise with Latin America’s needy was the charter of this newly founded non-profit. Our logo merges this hopeful intersection with the familiar healthcare iconography of the Red Cross, pill capsules, and Band-Aids.

32

The Gilder Lehrman Institute History Shop

When we created the website for this institute dedicated to American history education, we decided that their online store deserved its own strong identity. This logo, inspired by 19th century America’s typographic experimentation, connects the past to the modern world of e-commerce.

“In essence, it is not what it looks like but what it does that defines a symbol.” — Paul Rand 36
