Permeable hardscapes merge into softer green areas where vegetation helps clean water and reduce runoff, in a disconnected rain collection system. Excess water is fed into a sub-surface storage tank and used for watering vegetation.
An underutilised path was retrofitted with compressive pavement generating electricity through piezoelectric forces. Energy generated is used for lighting and bird sounds along the street.
Wootten Road Reserve Glas Landscape Architecture Melbourne, Australia Self-seeding grasslands sweep through curving paths in Melbourne’s west. Native grass species make up five seperate plant mixes giving variations of colour and texture throughout the site.

Materials Existing Hard Materials
The central court of University Plaza is comprised of various hard materials including pavers, concrete and metals. Bordered on each side are four buildings each with distinct, differing characters, albeit with similar colour palettes, and materials ranging from roughly hewn stone, brick, sandstone, steel and moulded concrete.
