Artist Biography Bruno Long I am a professional adventure photographer here in Revelstoke. A native of New Brunswick, I lived in Jasper National Park before moving here 7 years ago. In the years since the move, I have slowly crafted my photography in the surrounding mountains and national parks. A self-taught photographer, my vision for capturing images is about being in the right place at the right time and knowing how to capture those fleeting moments when given the chance. I have always been an opportunistic photographer, letting images develop during my travels and then waiting for the right moment to present itself. Being prepared, working hard and always having my camera with me while recreating has been the key for my progression. It might mean hauling around a heavy pack on long days in the backcountry or on big mountain bike rides but it is worth all the suffering for those singular moments when everything comes together perfectly to create a lasting image. I strive to create images that make people want to drop what they are doing and go outside to enjoy the spoils of the beautiful environment around us. Moving forward, I am hoping that my photography will allow me to travel around the world, to capture the same beauty and excitement that Revelstoke has given to me for the past 7 years.

REVELSTOKE ARTS COUNCIL’S CONCERT SERIES 2011-12
SKI BUM – THE MUSICAL – February 5th and 6th Revelstoke Community Centre $5 Back by popular demand! Ski-Bum: The Musical is a character driven, seasonal inspired homage to the dirtbags, debutants, lurkers and posers constantly in search of bottomless pow (powder snow ) A musical comedy that pokes fun of musical theatre while highlighting the trials and tribulations faced by a variety of mountain lovers. Mountain culture amplified by song, dance and story. This is a Spirit Festival performance!
BALLET KELOWNA – MARCH 14TH – REVELSTOKE COMMUNITY CENTRE $20 What in 2002 seemed like a pipe dream, has blossomed into a “Made in Kelowna” boutique dance company that is gaining attention across BC and also on the national level with its own, signature brand of “inno-classical” dance. The power, grace, beauty and athleticism of the dancers is only achieved through dedication, hard work and a driving commitment to be excellent. CARLOS DEL JUNCO – MARCH 25TH – ROXY THEATRE $20 Carlos is one of those players whose music is so advanced that when it comes to awards, it’s either retire the category or rephrase the question to ‘Best Harmonica Player Not Named Carlos’. This includes two Gold medals from the Hohner World Harmonica Championships in Trossingen, Germany as well as multiple awards in Canada. To say he plays the harmonica is like saying “Jimi Hendrix plays the guitar”. He blows the blues harp through prism – suddenly it seems he’s holding every colour in the musical rainbow right there on his hands. DENIS CHANG MANOUCHE QUARTET– APRIL 5TH – ROXY THEATRE $20 Greatly influenced by the music of Django Reinhardt, guitarist Denis Chang’s formative years were spent alongside the greatest Jazz Manouche guitarists such as Fapy Lafertin, Ritary Gaguenetti, Paulus Schäfer, Rindo Winterstein and Emmanuel Kassimo to name just these few. This young guitarist quickly developed his own style inspired by various styles of music. Among his biggest influences are Bach, Chopin, George Benson and Michael Jackson. Special Ticket Deal for the post-Christmas Concerts – All five concerts for $60 a saving of $10!!
General INterest
FIGURA THEATRE – FEBRUARY 8th Revelstoke Community Centre $5 Figura Theater of Iceland’s Master Puppeteer performs Metamorphosis, a collection of hilarious and imaginative vignettes, featuring a cast of intricate, hand-carved marionette and unforgettable characters that are brought to life by hands, wooden spheres, and silk scarves. Metamorphosis dramatizes our constantly changing perceptions of the world and explores the “theatre” of daily life with poignant stories and gentle humour. This is a Spirit Festival performance!
This year we are working with three restaurants to create Big Night Out! If you have a ticket for one of our concert series you are eligible to get a discount of 15% on a meal at one of: The 112 Restaurant – First Street West Bad Paul’s Restaurant – MacKenzie Avenue Woolsey Creek Restaurant – Second Street East The offer is only for the night of the concert and a separate ticket is required for each discount. The discount can only be used for a meal with an entrée.
