Aqua Fit is a viable means of enhancing quality of life and is exciting and encouraging. People who are participating in classes are enjoying the challenge and rewards of the water. The amount of impact on bones and joints is less than land exercises due to bouyancy. People with fragile bones or arthritic joints can benefit from reduced impact in the aquatic environment. Performing exercises in chest deep water suspended work. With some impact it can assis in maintenance of bone mass. The multi-directional resistance provided by water causes the muscle to pull on the bone. This loading can maintain or increase bone mass. So what are you waiting for? No excuses! Come out and enjoy the benefits of exercising.

REVELSTOKE SERVICE CLUBS For the fall edition, we wanted to highlight our service clubs in Revelstoke. Many of these organizations have been here for decades, contributing not only services, but donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to a variety of local charities, families, and youth sports. They are an integral part of our community that we should recognize and support by becoming a member to ensure we have them here for many more years to come…. Revelstoke Lions Club was chartered on January 15th,

1966 with 22 members. Two of these charter members are still with us today. Like many service clubs, the Lions put on an array of fundraising projects in order to give resources back for community projects and families. Our Lions have supported CNIB Guide dogs, Cops for kids, Food Bank, Scholarships, LCIF disaster fund, Juvenile diabetes, Easter seal house, Crime Stoppers, Royal Canadian Legion, D.A.R.E, Arthritis society, local minor sports, Heart & Stroke, Bowl for Kids, Lions Vision Centre, and Revelstoke Museum to name a few!

Lions Clubs – Ready to Help, Worldwide

Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That's because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.

The World's Largest Service Club Organization

Our 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world's largest service club organization. We're also one of the most effective. Our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere we work, we make friends. With children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet. Mission Statement: Our mission is to contribute to the needs and well being of the community by promoting fellowship, integrity and commitment among members through Lionism. Meetings are held 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 7:00pm at Castle Hall 201 3rd St. West. For more information on the Lions, or to join Contact President Buddy Rozander 250-837-3346

Provincially, there are four Elks Recreational Children’s camps which are FREE for children to attend! Their purpose is to provide camping facilities for underprivileged, handicapped and special needs children as well as other groups of children who would not otherwise be able to attend a camp. Currently the average is about 4000 children who use the camps annually. All of the camps are provided free of charge to organized children’s groups, are handicapped accessible and available 12 months of the year. Nationally, supported is the Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children .Money from the Fund may be used to purchase hearing aids, auditory trainers, medicine, crutches, braces, technical aids, books and many other items required by a needy child including transportation or food and lodging for children to be treated or assessed medically in Canada. Any person may make an application for assistance by contacting their nearest Elks or Royal Purple Lodge. The Elks of Canada is largest ALL CANADIAN charitable fraternal organization in Canada! Meetings are held every 2nd Tuesday of each month (except July & August) 7:00pm at the Seniors Centre and anyone is welcome to attend. Our beautiful Queen Elizabeth playground and City Preschool playground were both supplied to us through the Elks. Local Revelstoke families in need have had generous support from our Elks as well as our Minor sports teams. Every year you will see our Elks members in town on the Heart & Stroke Big Bike for this fundraising event.
