review A short interview with Keith Chia, Chia Motor Racing Team manager and racer. Keith said Brisk spark plugs does not lose performance under extreme heat. Performance is consistent from start of the race till end. Higher output, better throttle response and acceleration are achieved through better fuel energy utilization. Unlike conventional spark plugs, where the discharge is constrained by the ground electrode, Brisk Premium Spark Plugs utilize a design where the ground electrode is retracted so the spark discharge occurs at the very tip of the spark plug. The ground electrode design of the traditional spark plug restricts the natural spherical expansion pattern of the flame front. Brisk Premium Spark Plugs utilize surface spark discharge along with a retracted ground electrode designed to ensure maximum spark exposure and unrestricted flame front propagation. Utilizing hotter semi-surface spark discharge- It is easier (takes less energy) for a spark to glide along the surface of the insulator than to break through the air gap. Brisk Premium Spark Plugs take advantage of this feature in its design. Almost 2/3 of the spark travel between the electrodes is along the surface of the insulator. The length of the spark discharge is maximized with only a slight increase in the required supplied ignition energy. The higher voltage buildup at the center electrode before the spark-over results in the delivery of more spark energy into the combustion chamber. However, this spark plug requires a sound ignition system (in good condition) for proper operation.

Brisk is one of the largest spark plug auto parts manufacturers in the World, with 80 years experience in spark plug manufacturing. Brisk specializes in the use of silver center electrode technology in their high performance and racing spark plugs, but also offers wide assortment of iridium spark plugs, copper sparkplugs, platinum spark plugs and even yttrium spark plugs. For those who seek maximum spark plug efficiency and performance, Brisk offers several unique patented spark plug firing. Brisk plays a major role in some of the worlds record holding passes and builds in the Performance and Racing Industry, providing a spark plug that creates more horsepower and can fire under extreme cylinder pressures. Brisk spark plugs help Chia Motor Racing win races during the Malaysia Superbike Series in a variety of classes from 250cc to Superbike 1000cc which Rajini was 2015 overall SBK Champion

review

Silver spark plug electrodes transfer electricity & heat better than any other spark plug material resulting in the most powerful spark!

Brisk Silver Racing Spark Plugs are the best solution for high performance and racing engines. Silver Spark Plugs provide many unique and beneficial characteristics, Silver is taking sparkplug technology to a whole new level, here are many reasons why our Brisk Silver Racing SparkPlugs are beneficial for your engines performance. Silver is the best conductor of any metal! It conducts 560% more electricity & 481% more heat than Platinum, and 276% more electricity & 177% more heat than Iridium. Utilizing a special ground electrode design- The spark discharge can occur in almost 360 degree perimeter at the place with the most optimal air/fuel composition; which is where the ionization of the molecule is most easily achieved. This special feature ensures that the spark occurs at the best possible place for ignition, unlike in the conventional spark plug design where the spark always occurs in the same confined place. Since the air fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber is not homogenous (has different concentration at different places) this results in faster and better ignition of each ignition cycle. In addition, there is no need for indexing of the spark plugs since the plug is symmetrical and there is no ground electrode restricting the access of the air/fuel mixture. www.brisk.com.my Brisk Premium Spark is distributed by Bikerzone Sdn.Bhd No. 1042 (Plot 546) Phase 4, Prai Industrial Estate, Lorong Perusahaan Maju 2, 13600 Prai, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia For more information on the product please call Vinci +6012 425 3659 or email ask@bikerzone.com.my

road|TEST DUCATI PANIGALES 95 always have a feeling for Ducati, especially 1199 Panigale’s design and the 1199 was the bike that made my riding spirit back way back in 2012 and always will be one of my all-time favourite motorcycles. I first rode the 1199, way back in 2012 at Sepang International Circuit just right after the Malaysian round of the MotoGP during the Ducati Riding Experience at Ducati Asia Week. In 2014 Ducati Malaysia had a Media Test of the Panigale 899, now 2017 we got the Panigale 959 for a roadtest and here is our Panigale 959 review and comparison between the 899, 1199 and the 959. Most noticeable is a twin exhaust, and the 959 is the 2016 version of the 899 and there are only minimal changes, the main one of course being a capacity increase. However, these changes have made a big difference to the personality 959. The double-sided swingarm was kept. Mitsubishi EMS replaced the Marelli. The suspension and geometry were altered to make the 899 a brilliant road bike but it was never developed for track use at all. 899 was a perfect street and track day sportsbike that really should have ended up with a cult following but there are too many riders that crave capacity. A shame it kind of missed out on reaching what I feel could have been huge had more bums got on seats… Ducati have built the 959 Euro4 laws and the stroke length is now identical to the 1299 so production costs are reduced now that the 959 and 1299 share the same crank and conrods. In short summary, the capacity is up, power up by 6kW, torque up by 5Nm, ABS standard, weight up by 7kg and wheelbase reduced by 5mm. The swingarm pivot point is 4mm lower than that of the 899, there are now no pillion ‘pegs anymore so it is solo going bike, which is a good thing for a sportsbike. It also has EBC (Electronic Brake Control). So is the 959 better than the 899?

959

THERIDE PANIGALE My first impression as I hop on the 959 is that I can’t tell any difference really to the 899. There are some small subtle frontal area changes and the seat height is the same but the overall height up. I’m happy that the bike feels familiar and the same. The 899, 1199, 1299, the Panigale has really good ergonomics. There are the three pre-set Riding Modes to choose from, Race, Sport, Wet, or you can individually set the DTC, DQS, EBC or ABS but I would not bother, I just set it on RACE Mode all the time! There is also Menu1 with ODO, Trip1, Trip2, Trip Fuel Res, Trip Time. Clock, Lap Time, plus Menu2 with Air Temp, Inst Fuel Cons, Av Fuel Cons, Av Speed (wipe the latter often). With the 959 Superquadro powerplant, the change is instantly noticeable. Off bottom end there is now a stronger surge in torque and that builds all the way to the very top end. The longer stroke has given a more urgent acceleration and stronger surge of power that is superbike-like. I spend my Valentine with an Italian hot babe! Looking around the 959 Panigale it’s clear that the bike is all class, as you’d expect from Ducati. The welds on the framework are immaculately finished, as is the beautiful blood red bodywork and fine components that you’d expect when buying an Italian thoroughbred. The ergonomics are better on the 959. The bike was left in Race mode the whole 3 days of the road test and the 959 sure got some grunt, the 959 may be the little brother of the 1299, but it seriously great ride.

always have a fe 1199 Panigale’s the bike that ma way back in 201 my all-time favo rode the 1199, w

Launching through the gears is effortless with the quickshifter and there’s plenty of power and torque from the word go, but get the revs around 7,000rpm plus and it’s a whole new ball game, with fun not stopping until 11,500rpm. But for me, I choose to stay with Race mode, why? Because this mode is still smooth but offers full performance and can feel the Diablo Corsa doing its job sliding out the corners. Taking off from a standstill, zooming off the green light and using the super smooth quickshifter and the full use of the 959’s 157hp. The only problem with the bike is the heat that’s generated, especially under the seat, normally this is only a problem on bikes in slow moving traffic, but on the 959 my rear is toasty my butt. The Brembo brakes on this bike are awesome and with the combination of adjustable ABS, you have just about every situation covered. The feel at the lever is superb and the power is more than enough than I could ever use and with the aid of the slipper clutch the bike can really be pulled up fast and safely for slower corners. I just wish I’d had Naza had allow me more time with the beautiful Panigale. After clocking up almost 320km on the 959 I can honestly say that I had a blast and if I was in the market for a sportsbike then I’d be proud to make some space my garage for this piece of Italian artwork. Using the Superquadro engine as a stressed member of the chassis, the short and strong aluminium monocoque is die-cast and attaches to the cylinder-heads, protruding forward to house the steering head bearings and form the airbox. The airbox is sealed by the bottom of the 17L steel 0.8mm thick pressed fuel tank. With a front geometry of 24º rake and 96mm trail, a fully die-cast aluminium double-sided swingarm provides the wheelbase of 1431mm, 5mm longer than the 899, setting a weight distribution of 51%/48%. The 899 was 52/48.

Suspension is from Showa and Sachs. The forks are 43mm Showa BPF inverted units that are fully adjustable. A fully adjustable Sachs shock looks after the back end and is mounted to the rear-cylinder on the left-hand side making the shock very accessible for adjustment. The mounting point threw a challenge to engineers as some cylinder lining deflection was detected during suspension action, potentially causing ring blow-by. This was eliminated with cylinder design and mounting point design. The rear link is a progressive link. The chassis rolls on lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels helping with fast changes of direction. The standard tyres are Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 120/70 /17 and 180/60/17.

SHELL Outer shell made of Injection of Advance Thermoplastic resin and is E3 certified. Galaxy and Venom have are different front air design, with the Venom having the air ducts embedded in its shell, The Venom shell shape has been shaped sharper. Galaxy has a manual integrated solar slide button while the Venom has a one touch button. Padding is much more comfortable and fitting on the Venom, and comes with Asian Size & Fit. We have been wearing the KYT Galaxy for over a six months and had a crash when the bike we rode, the steering cone was a little loose and a tank slap that happen to throw me off the bike with head 1st to the tarmac. The Polycarbonate visor didn’t not cracked but had a massive scratching on the tarmac till the visor opened. Now we are testing the KYT Venom, the Venom has more comfortable Asian Fit inner cushion and we really like the new aerodynamics shape. Venom is available in solid colour, full graphic design and MotoGP/Moto2 rider replica design of Andrea Iannone and Simone designs. KYT Venom Helmet retails about RM350 at authorised KYT dealers nationwide. Super value openface helmet comparing to other brands in the market, KYT Helmets provide a value and safe gear comparing with other Italian or Japanese brands. review I got this helmet MKA Motorparts Sdn Bhd, it fits very well on a round head. The replica graphics are amazing. The KYT Venom padding has improve from the previous Galaxy I got from Indonesia, I love the new padding on the helmet, no complaints on the front top air vent and the new rear air outlet. Switch from the standard clear visor to Iridium tinted , blue, orange or rainbow to match the replica design you choice and the KYT open face looks stunning. Noise level is a bit above average. We tested the KYT Venom during a few rides to Gotong Jaya and to Bukit Tinggi ECE3, SIRIM & JPJ approved helmet. Rider replica are #I29 Andre Innnone, #41 Aleix Espargaro, #10 Thitipong Warokorn and #19 Xavier Simeon KYT helmet is designed with several features, such as open-face double visor, flat visor (glass visor flat) , antitheft system (there is a hole to tie a helmet and lock to avoid theft) , removable and washable cheekpad and inner liner, double d-ring retention system (safety standard fastener system is best used in racing Moto GP) , automatic sun visor one-button release.

The Art Of Cornering

Founded by the legendary Keith Code in 1980, the California Superbike School (CSS) offers a step-by-step method of technique oriented rider training in the art of cornering motorcycles. The four California Superbike School Malaysia training levels led by Steve Brouggy, who holds Level 4 (Master) coaching status at the CSS and the only authorized trainer of the CSS without Code in attendance, the Australian team will share the true technical elements of motorcycle riding on different skill levels for all riders. Each of the first three levels presenting precise technical riding skills, taught the old fashioned way – one step at a time. Each skill builds upon the last to create a complete package of control and confidence.

LEVEL 1 Level 1 addresses the six most common errors that riders make and why. You will realize exactly how they have stopped or slowed your own improvement as a rider. There will be a technical briefing for each one, including on and off track drills that put you in control of them and your assigned coach for the day will observe and correct any difficulties you are having with each drill. You will be coached as an individual according to your skill level and you will improve. Confidence and control are shattered when riders experience vague fears about turn entry speed, finding good lines, bike stability and their own rider-induced errors. These fears and uncertainties are addressed and replaced with confident and precise bike control. Level 1 addresses the six most common errors that riders make and why.

The California Superbike School (CSS) has a system that has worked over 30 years, and CSS are the number one on-track training School with a team of dedicated professionals from US, UK, Australia and New Zealand which guarantee effectiveness by drills, and the ability to demonstrate and communicate to riders with drills that will surely learn and improve. Each of CSS’s drills cleanly and effectively targets riding barrier or the uncertainty of riders by experience in their cornering. It doesn’t matter what bike you ride, it doesn’t matter whether you ride on the road or track and it doesn’t matter how fast or slow you ride – if you ride a motorcycle, you can improve, that’s what we experience today in the first module, even without using brakes.

LeveL 2 Once an understanding is achieved of what a motorcycle can and should do for you from the Level 1 drills, CSS move on step-by-step to sharpen the visual skills. Level 2 is all about solutions to problems we face with our eyes. The school’s visual drills put you in control of the road. This module defines our visual enemies and how to overcome them. Everyone knows that target fixation is dangerous and with CSS’s logical procedures, your eyes become precision instruments. The results of Level 2 are amazing. Riders lose their claustrophobia in corners and gain the freedom and time to really use the roads they ride. As with Level 1, there are five technical briefings and five track sessions during the day.

LeveL 3 Level 3 addresses how you interface with the bike, your body position choices and how these can affect the cornering process. All five of the drills completed in Level 3 are indispensable tools and once rider position and stability are completely understood it paves the way for line selection options that are applicable (and beneficial) to both track and road riding. Using our body weight we can influence what the bike can do and its stability but we have to move correctly. Jumping around all over the bike will only cause problems that you will find yourself fighting to overcome. You and your bike should be working together and Level 3 shows you how this is done. The final drill is called Attack Angles will give you a whole new approach to cornering because you will have a plan. www.i-moto..my

LeveL4 Level 4 takes a completely different turn and is custom designed for each rider. CSS will ask you what needs to be improved. Now that a rider has spent at least three levels with CSS and discussed and practiced over fifteen different riding skills, CSS will design a program uniquely for that rider. At Level 4, CSS takes a very focused look at the riders skills and tie up the loose ends. Aside from the assigned on-track coach, CSS also provide a highly trained off-track consultant and throughout the day he will coordinate with the rider with on-track coach and gives a one-on-one attention. Riding will also be videoed and analysed and depending on track circumstances, CSS aim to provide Level 4 students with an extra riding session to work on their individual program. www.i-moto..my
