i-Moto "I was really happy when they told me I was going to be world champion, but then again the pressure of the weekend came again, and all the things you have in mind during a race weekend. "I was focused back quite quickly, just thinking about the race. Without the championship pressure, you ride better, you ride more flowing." Only once 'Morbido', as he's affectionately known, crossed the finish line did he accept his triumph. His mentor and old family friend Rossi was first to greet him, the joy of victory magnified by the sheer hard work and sacrifice it had taken to reach this level. Livio Morbidelli was a motorcycle racer himself, finishing runner-up in the Italian 80cc and 125cc championships. When Franco was two years old, his dad made him a small bike, this marking Franco's first steps on his journey towards international stardom. Although he could tell his son was talented, Livio didn’t have the resources to support his career and didn’t know where he could learn to become a professional rider, until an old friend from his racing days, Graziano Rossi - Valentino's father - told him about Tavullia. Graziano explained what went on at 'La Cava', a track where the likes of Rossi, Simoncelli and Andrea Dovizioso raced. It was the forerunner to the 'Ranch' that has since become the epicentre of the VR46 Academy.
F
ranco Morbidelli was crowned Moto2 champion last
weekend at Sepang, the culmination of a long and difficult journey for the Italian - who had to face the tragedy of losing his father four years ago. When Thomas Luthi withdrew from last weekend's Sepang race, Marc VDS rider Morbidelli became grand prix motorcycling's first Italian champion since Valentino Rossi in 2009 and the first in the intermediate class since the late Marco Simoncelli in 2008. But his journey to the coveted title - the first for a member of the VR46 Academy - wasn't easy for the 22-year-old Italian, the son of a Brazilian woman, Cristina, and former motorcycle racer Livio. Franco inherited from his dad a passion for racing, and from his mum a love of football, a flair for languages and a sense of calm. That calm, probably, is what allowed him to forget on Sunday morning that he was already champion after Luthi's withdrawal and still finish third. "The moment of euphoria this morning was really short, three or four seconds," said Morbidelli.
Moving to Tavullia Livio sold the family's house in Rome and moved to Tavullia, and step-by-step Franco became involved in competition and started to demonstrate his skills. So impressive were Morbidelli's exploits in minibikes that in 2006, when he was just 11 years old, a development contract with the Pramac D’Antin MotoGP team was signed. The project would come to naught and the family didn’t get any of the money that was promised, but this setback didn't prevent Morbidelli from continuing to excel. Ultimately, Morbidelli reached the stage where the next logical step was for him to join the Spanish-based CEV 125cc series, the final stepping stone to the world championship. However, this required money that Livio simply didn't have.
i-Moto Franco was 15 at that time, and was forced onto the sidelines for 10 months. After that, he found a ride in the European Superstock 600 championship, embarking on a much longer and fraught path to the grand prix paddock. Just as Franco had established himself as one of the series' leading riders, his fledgling career was to suffer an even bigger blow. On January 13, 2013, Livio Morbidelli decided to end his life and hanged himself. In the wake of such a tragedy, Franco was handed a lifeline by the Italian Federation, through its Team Italia programme, to race a third season in Superstock 600 aboard a Kawasaki, and he duly won the title. That season, Fausto Gresini gave him the chance to appear as a replacement rider in Moto2 at Misano, which led to further outings in Motegi and Valencia and ultimately a fulltime ride in 2014 with Italtrans. The rest is history. "I didn't come from the usual path, I came from another world and it was hard in the beginning," recalled Morbidelli. "We didn't know if it was the right choice or if the step was too long. "Finally with this title, we showed we did the right choice." Next year, Morbidelli and his mentor Rossi will be rivals on the MotoGP grid, as the Moto2 champion makes the step up to the premier class with his Marc VDS team, becoming the first member of the VR46 Academy to do so. But at Sepang, the apprentice was quick to pay tribute to the master. “All I know, I’ve learnt it from him and his atmosphere," said Morbidelli, looking at his friend Rossi, and smiling shyly.

DUCATI MALAYSIA LAUNCHES DUCATI SUPERSPORT AND SUPERSPORT S The Ducati Supersport and Supersport S has been launched in Malaysia by Next Bike Sdn Bhd as a versatile new offering with prices starting at RM80,899. Available in two variants – Supersport and Supersport S, the motorcycle which Ducati developed to be used for everyday riding but can make occasional track visits fun. The Ducati Supersport is positioned as a powerful motorcycle, but with easy ergonomics and power tuned for more linear delivery. The Supersport offers a wider range of appeal that will certainly be liked by many looking forward to bring the Italian offering home. Styling on the Ducati SuperSport has been inspired from the Panigale and the bike looks desirable from all sides. It’s distinctly Italian and the every bit of a head turner. The dual headlamp setup meets in the centre, while the shotgun exhausts look extremely impressive.
i-Moto The SuperSport is a more relaxed motorcycle and the riding position is much less aggressive than the Panigale. Making things easier is the higher set handlebar and the less sporty foot pegs. The SuperSport uses an all-digital instrument cluster that is easy to read and displays all vitals. Both the Ducati SuperSport and SuperSport S use the 937 cc Testastretta 11-degree L-twin engine that produces 110 bhp of power and 93 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox and gets revised crankcase and cylinder heads. Power spread is wider through the rev range for effortless in-city use. The kerb weight is measured at 210 kg. Both variants of the Ducati SuperSport come with Ride-by-Wire and three riding modes – Sport, Touring and Urban. There is also 3-level Bosch ABS and 8-level Ducati Traction Control on the model.
While the standard version uses 43 Marzocchi front forks and a Sachs monoshock rear unit, the SuperSport S gets an uprated Ohlins suspension setup at the front and rear with a 113hp tune up. Other features remain the same on both variants. The Ducati SuperSport primarily competes with the sports tourers in the market. Expert riders will appreciate the true sports personality of the SuperSport, its excellent road performance and an evident penchant for journeying and everyday use. Riders approaching the Ducati sports world for the first time will discover dazzling versatility, easy handling and, above all, the very essence of sports riding as Ducati sees it. To support the launch of the SuperSport and SuperSport S for the local market, Ducati Malaysia plans to have touring collaborations
to promote Malaysia as a riding destination especially for local, Singaporeans and other South East Asian bikers. Apart from the touring engagements, Ducati Malaysia also plans collaborate with the Transport Department (JPJ), Motorcycle and Scooter Assemblers and Distributors Association of Malaysia (MASAAM) and others, for some initiative programs next year which also includes Tour Programs exploring the many exotic riding destinations within Malaysia.

hen Ducati slap a Hypermotard 939 engine, a Monster 1200 frame, and Panigale-shaped bodywork, you will get a Ducati Supersport! There are 2 variant of Supersport launched a few weeks back just before MotoGP Sepang, standard base Supersport model and Supersport S. Suspension on the variant are Marzocchi 43mm fork and Sachs shock on the base model, and Ohlins shock and 48mm Ohlins fork on the SuperSport S. The Supersport S also gets a QuickShifter up and down. Both variant gets Ducati’s eight-level traction control system and Bosch’s threelevel ABS.
i-Moto First glace the Supersport doesn’t excites comparing to Panigale 959, looks a longer with 2070 mm, lower in horsepower, but Ducati didn’t designed to Supersport to challenge the Panigales but instead venturing to a unknown Sport Touring segment which Ducati in a long time has no presence, since Ducati 1000SS back in 2003. Design with touring in the mind, the riding ergonomics is more up right but the Supersport could be a trackday bike anytime just get rid of the mirrors, tail and pillion foot peg, on the track the Supersport can be a fun ride in the circuit if you are not looking to cut your timing down. Well we didn’t take the Supersport S to the track but rode it to our usual Sunday ride route via Ulu Yam and to Bukit
Tinggi, handling of the Supersport was Mode, felt better and suspension felt Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 120/70-R17 up exceptionally great in Sport Mode, but for softer compare to Sport Mode. I prefer front and 180/55-R17rubber made me me feels the Supersport is very hard the Touring Mode mapping in most of the more comfortable with the Supersport as seems better for track and must rev up to road test. I know the character very well and didn’t 5k rpm before I can use the quickshifter The layback riding position can be turned really need any convincing to get my firs (not sure why, maybe the modes have a to aggressive position just by getting knee down immediately from the first some pre-set), the Supersport need to closer to the tank and widening your bend! crank up the revs, half way through Ulu elbows, still have the Panigale feel, Yam so I change to back to Touring especially for shorter riders like me.
Braking is done by Brembo M4.32 callipers squeezing 320mm rotors with rear, and three levels of ABS. That’s not toptier Brembo stuff, but for a 110-hp bike, the brakes are more than enough. With 210kg wet weigh, I don’t really feel that the Supersport is heavy for daily riders, even new riders and lady riders should feel very comfortable riding the Supersport whether in the city or on twisty routes.

iding a bike is an exhilarating experience!
You can imagine the pure bliss you’ll have when you’re riding that bike of yours, with the speed exciting you, the wind in your face, and the traffic it helps you escape. It also happens to be more economical! However, there are two sides to a coin. And, as much fun riding a bike can be, it can also be equally dangerous, and many times, fatal. If you are riding motorbikes, or are thinking of starting soon, you must know that wearing a helmet while riding one is of utmost importance to protect yourself from injuries and fatal crashes. The head trauma is the worst experience to recover from. You might get away with a slight scratch on your body, but things get complicated when the head gets involved. That is why wearing a helmet is mandatory when you’re riding your bike, and when it comes to protecting the most important part of your body, nothing less than the best will do! Technology in helmets has just begun this century with Jarvish Inc of Taiwan who recently launched the SMART INTELIGENT HELMET. So how smart and intelligent is Jarvish?

Whether you enjoy winding through the mountains, riding across the plains, or just heading down the highway, Ninja H2 SX will forever change your touring experience. Riders can choose from two model variations: the standard Ninja H2 SX, or the SE-model, an even higher level of quality, and additional equipment that includes Kawasaki’s first TFT LCD meter and LED cornering lights.
Using feedback from the compact Bosch IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that gives a real-time picture of chassis orientation, KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating brake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to braking and back again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner. On the Ninja H2 SX, KCMF oversees the following systems: -KTRC (including traction and wheel lift control) -KIBS (including pitching and corner braking control) -Kawasaki Engine Brake Control -KLCM (SE-only)
The more efficient engine also generates less heat than that of the performance-hungry Ninja H2, whose base engine construction needed to handle the more than 300 PS of the mighty Ninja H2R. Less heat translates to greater rider comfort. And unlike the Ninja H2 with its voracious appetite, the engine flows less air, meaning quieter operation and the possibility of a lighter exhaust system – less air in means less air out, so smaller exhaust volume to be quietened. In total, the new engine, including the exhaust system, is approximately 3 kg lighter.
Achieving an engine that could deliver superb fuel efficiency and gratifying acceleration at street-riding speeds started with increasing the compression ratio in order to increase the engine’s thermal efficiency. From there, the supercharger, combustion chamber, cams, and intake and exhaust components were all redesigned. The result is a versatile engine character that enables relaxed long-distance riding, easy manageability at slow speeds, and – when called upon – the exhilarating acceleration that only a supercharged engine can deliver. The Ninja H2 SX’s superb fuel efficiency represents a significant increase over the supercharged engine of the Ninja H2, and is on par with that of the Z1000SX and Versys 1000. Combined with its 19 litre fuel tank, this gives the Ninja H2 SX a substantial cruising range
