PETRONAS SPRINTA with ULTRAFLEX EXPERIENCE
Again in 2017, at Italian rounds, Ducati fans can experience the race and cheer on the Ducati MotoGP and S B K teams from a decidedly privileged position. Watching the qualifying rounds and racing from the Ducati Grandstand gives you a reserved space and exclusive services. Above all, though, it means being a part of the Ducati family and experiencing the thrill of the race alongside other Ducatisti, making up that exhilarating sea of red.
PETRONAS Lubricants Marketing Malaysia (PLMM) launched PETRONAS Sprinta with UltraFlex™, its flagship range of motorcycle lubricants formulated to resist engine stress and promote longer bike life.
This new range of motorcycle lubricants addresses the core requirements of motorcycle riders who want reliable and better quality rides. First launched in India last month, PETRONAS Sprinta with Ultraflex™ is now available in Malaysia.

Follow i-moto.my on:
Tests conducted using global industry standards have shown that PETRONAS Sprinta with UltraFlex™ has the ability to provide superior oil film strength that is up to 41% higher than the industry benchmark . This helps the engine to endure the effects of load, speed and engine stress without breaking down, while allowing the bike to respond better. The new range of lubricants also offers exceptional deposit control, thus maintaining power and ride quality. Chief Executive Officer of PLMM, Zubair Abdul Razak said, “At present, there is an estimated 11.6 million bikes in Malaysia with a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4%. A consumer study also revealed that 81% of motorcyclists ride everyday, with 70% of them relying completely on their bikes to get around. “Daily usage puts a lot of stress on bike engines, even under normal riding conditions. As a result, many consumers constantly worry about their bikes breaking down, forcing them into costly repairs or major overhauls,” Zubair added. Bike stress is caused by high shear conditions that results from severe mechanical stress and high temperatures inside the engine, which can reach temperatures of up to 33% higher than that of car engines. Left unmanaged, these issues can lead to rattling noises and sluggish performance. “Combining our century-long expertise in lubricant technology and consumer-focused innovation, PETRONAS Sprinta with UltraFlex™ is formulated to address the very issues that owners face to provide a better riding experience and longer bike life,” said PETRONAS Lubricants International Regional Head for Asia Pacific, Mohd Khalid Mohamed Latiff. Khalid added, “Our growth ambition is built on technology as a fundamental differentiator to continuously deliver superior products and services to meet consumer needs, while preparing ourselves to capture rising market opportunities. Our commitment to research and technology includes an USD60 million investment in a technology centre in Turin, Italy, which will be completed at the end of this year.” PETRONAS Sprinta with UltraFlex™ hits the shelves in early April Petronas partner workshops and Kedai Mesra outlets.

Aggressive, supernaked Zstyling comes to life in an ideal blend of sporty performance and everyday versatility. Featuring a lightweight chassis and a strong, torquey engine at its core, the new Z650 ABS naked sportbike is a compact middleweight unlike any other. With each ride, broad power and nimble handling make the Z650 ABS incredibly smooth and easy.
ROAD|TEST The iconic name returns with an equally impressive machine. Z 6 5 0 . Light, nimble and eye-catching.
WHEN ZIPPY MEETS TWISTY! The Z 6 5 0 returns to set mid-weight naked class alight. Light, nimble and eye-catching, the new Z 6 5 0 enjoys stunning looks thanks to its unique Kawasaki Sugomi design influences while lusty performance and impressive torque is willingly delivered by the compact 650cc engine. Z650, Refined Raw.
A quick fix would be to upgrade the rubber, the Z650 is so light weight feel, you can ride the whole day with one hand even in twisty short corners of Bukit Tinggi and Batang Kali, any corners the Z650 can tackle.

FUN FACTOR START HERE!
week with Kawasaki Z650 and another week
Its light and easy to handle Good torque at low to mid-range, with a simple clutch and up the front wheel. Great handling and great riding ergonomics Superb throttle response. Better brakes and adding ABS is a plus Slipper Clutch, so no rear wheel hopping even dropping to the wrong or low gear. Shorter handlebar makes zipping through traffic a breeze. Small and compactness feels like a 250 with a 650 engine and power.
with Ninja650 plus a ride with and ER-6n, with our RoadTest makes it complete? Let’s start with the ER-6n and its legacy in Malaysia, the ER-6n is one of the first few mass production big bike (CKD) that hit our market. Major factor for the boom in Superbike or you can say affordable big capacity bikes, thanks to Kawasaki Malaysia or that time Kawasaki was known by Kawasaki Sunrock, had consider CKD for ER-6n and it was an instant But what you wanna know is the Z650 anyone can ride hit with bikers from smaller capacity who started to this bike with ease or aggressively, it’s not a problem, upgrade to ER-6n and the faring type ER-6F. just beware of authority…. ya! Kawasaki's ER-6n and ER-6f are urban twins, On the other hand twisting the responsive throttle, designed for the City and leisure rides only to be anyone will be carried away with the torque but make distinguished apart by one's nakedness and the sure you remember that the Z650 is not just to satisfy other's stylish bodywork. the needs of beginners but as well as moderately experienced riders. And most important is able to take the Zippy to enjoy your weekend ride or go to a go-cart track and ride your heart out, Its so easy to ride even with one hand. The responsive throttle from Kawasaki made sure that there was no throttle lag out of corners and assisted-slipper clutch helps entering the corners more confidently and less rear wheel hopping while dropping to lower gears in to fast corners.
Kawasaki now has updated its model to Z-series for its naked models and Ninja for its faring models. So let’s start with Z650, the naked bike which I truly can say has all the “FUN FACTOR” in this bike, right from the moment we took the Z650 from Kawasaki Malaysia at Glenmarie, Shah Alam. It’s nimbleness and lightweight, truly makes sure anyone who get a Z650 in his garage, weather he is a newbie or an experience rider, will love the “FUN FACTOR” of this model. How we label a bike FUN FACTOR.
I could go on and on but the above is a summary of the Z650 we call Zippy6. The little time we had on Zippy because of usual rainy afternoon, events in between the week we had Zippy, means we had to make full use of the time we had with Zippy during our road test.

POWER & HANDLING
Ride like you mean it with the sporty engine performance of the Z650 ABS. This modern parallel-twin 649cc engine packs strong torque and mid-range acceleration that’s well suited for sport riding. The lightweight chassis with a low center of gravity provides confident maneuverability at lower speeds while the trellis frame contributes to the bike’s lightweight feel and responsive handling. 649 cm3 Parallel Twin engine • 68 PS • Lightweight Trellis frame • Low seat height of 790 mm • Assist & Slipper clutch • Sugomi design • Z-pattern LED tail light • Stylish under-engine muffler • Wide, flat handlebar • Horizontal Back-Link rear suspension with adjustable preload. • Multi-Functional Instrumentation with gear position indicator • ABS petal disc brakes • Adjustable clutch and brake lever
ERGONOMICS
The relaxed yet commanding ergonomic design contributes to exceptional handling dynamics, and the integrated rider triangle places the rider inboard to feel as one with the bike. The low tapered seat inspires confidence at stops while providing a wider rear platform for optimal comfort and cornering leverage out on the open road.
The all-new trellis frame contributes significantly to the bike’s light, nimble handling. Horizontal BackLink Rear Suspension delivers a balance of sporty performance and ride comfort.
Z650 ABS weights only 187kg compare to ER-6n non ABS 211kg
A quick fix would be to upgrade the rubber.
Light nimble and eye-catching
Both clutch and brake levers are 5-way adjustable to accommodate a variety of hand sizes for increased comfort.
FUN TO RIDE
When opening the throttle, riders will notice an extremely smooth and powerful engine character that offers both a high level of control when making subtle throttle adjustments and a gratifying rush of acceleration in the lower rpm ranges.
Underneath exhaust muffler lowers the bike’s centre of gravity and the sleek silencer design adds to the bike’s overall slim looks.
SUGOMISTYLING The aggressive Z Supernaked styling blends Sugomi design elements with a slim, lightlooking package, resulting in a head-turning design.
Horizontal Back-Link Rear Suspension delivers a balance of sporty performance and ride comfort.
Dual Ø 300 mm petal discs, dual piston caliper and Bosch ABS unit deliver plenty of braking power.
The sharp LED taillight lights up in “Z”pattern, contributing to the sporty Z supernaked image.

Going fast does provide an adrenalin rush, which can be a good thing. Certainly getting a bike leaned over in a turn is exciting, and accelerating out hard when cranked over provides a rush unlike many others. There’s the rush of cornering fast, hanging off, getting your knee down and challenge being a racers… Even when you are sick, your head will still make you go out on the track if you can still stand!
Riding like this is the greatest rush. Stringing fast corners or laps together beautifully is one of the joys of motorcycling racing, and that’s why we love motorsports. The adrenalin rush will make you want more, want more power, moretop speed, more grip and more control. Powered by:

Six young Yamaha stars are about to embark on an exciting chapter in their racing career at the third edition of the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp. The selected students will be taken under the wings of Valentino Rossi, the VR46 Riders Academy and its riders, three-time English Flat Track Champion and two-time American and European Flat Track Champion Marco Belli, and many more racing experts from May 10th - 14th, 2017, to improve their racing skills. As with the two previous editions, the new Master Camp riders will travel to Rossi's hometown of Tavullia in Italy. There they will receive instruction and guidance to further their racing careers during an extensive training programme (you can watch a summary video of the first Master Camp HERE and of the second edition HERE). For the third edition, participants were chosen from among young Yamaha riders based in Asia, Oceania and North America, depending on their age, talent and championship standings. The new Yamaha VR46 Master Camp rider lineup includes Thailand‘s Peerapong Boonlert (18), Indonesia‘s Anggi Setiawan (18), Japan‘s Shota Ite (15), Malaysia‘s Muhammad Akid bin Aziz (18), Australia‘s Brandon Demmery (19) and Canada‘s Tomas Casas (17). The fourth edition, to be held later this year in July, will see European and South American riders attending the training programme. The planned curriculum has full-time VR46 Riders Academy instructors teaching the Master Camp students various riding techniques as well as providing them with the necessary technical knowledge to make it on a World Championship racing level. The participants will put their skills to the test in various racing activities on YZ250Fs at Rossi‘s Motor Ranch, on YZF-R3s at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, and on mini-bikes at a go-karts circuit. There will be lots of fun and laughter over the five days of training, but the hours will be filled with hard work. The stakes are high for the young riders as they hope to follow in the footsteps of second Master Camp edition participant Apiwat Wongthananon (Thailand, 23), who last year secured Yamaha‘s first-ever AP250 Championship Title and went on to kick start his international racing career as a member of the VR46 Master Camp Team in the Moto3 Junior World Championship class of the 2017 FIM CEV International Championship.

The timetable for May 10th – May 14th again includes gym sessions and various riding activities on flat track and road circuits with the VR46 Academy riders, as well as a theoretical lesson with renowned racing expert, Pietro Caprara, the Sky Racing Team VR46's Technical Director and Crew Chief. Instructors attending the sessions are VR46 Riders Academy‘s Francesco Bagnaia, Andrea Migno, Luca Marini, Lorenzo Baldassarri and Franco Morbidelli, as well as Yamaha VR46 Master Camp‘s very own Apiwath Wongthananon (season 2 student), and three-time English Flat Track Champion and two-time American and European Flat Track Champion Marco Belli. The mentors will take the Master Camp riders under their wings both on and off track and will provide the students with useful tips and the necessary encouragement to help them in their quest to enhance their racing skills. The first day of the third programme gave the riders the opportunity to warm-up for the many activities that are to follow over the next few days. During their morning gym session, Fisio Gym instructor Carlo Casabianca introduced the young talents to exercises that are beneficial to the movability, the stretch and the strength of their muscles. As the weather was perfect, the students soon decided to resume the rest of their work-out outside with VR46 Riders Academy‘s Moto2 rider Luca Marini and Moto3 rider Andrea Migno at a running track. They gradually upped the pace, but were careful leave something in the tank for yesterday‘s main event. Before heading to the Motor Ranch, the riders had to ’refuel‘. A nice meal at the Bar, Ristorante e Pizzeria Da Rossi in Tavullia was just the ticket. Rosemary potato wedges and rice, followed by ice cream gave the riders renewed energy. When the young riders arrived at the Motor Ranch, threetime English Flat Track Champion and two-time American and European Flat Track Champion, Marco Belli, was waiting for them. (You can read more about Belli‘s involvement with the VR46 Motor Ranch in Yamaha VR46‘s second blog entry). He warmly greeted the students and presented them their Master Camp YZ250F bikes. He rode in front of them during the first couple of laps, to get the youngsters familiarized with the track lay-out, before their ridings skills were put to the test at the oval part of the track. The riders practised their dirt bike control, slaloming between traffic cones and sliding through the corners. Belli was thoroughly impressed by both the students' eagerness to learn as well as their rapid improvements throughout the first session: “This first day was just to understand the level of the riders and we completed a simple programme to assess them”, explained Belli. “Now we can work a bit more on their personal skills. The good thing about the Master Camp is that it is just 6 people, so I have time to work with each rider on his individual needs.
When it comes to dirt bike racing, these riders started on a bit of a higher level compared to the previous group. All these guys seem to be more comfortable on this kind of dirt and they have a good feeling with the bike and a good sense of what the bike is doing, so they can anticipate what will happen next. “They found one particular exercise very strange: when I asked them to ride with one hand. At the end, they understood how good this practice is, because they are obliged to work with the lower half of the body instead of with their arms. I could see them think “Oh my God” at the start, but later it was all good.” The Master Camp rider that was most outspoken about his excitement was Casas. Yesterday‘s morning session was right up his street as exercise and health are topics of interest to him. He aspires to study sports medicine and help at the track side as a trainer or medical assistant, should he ever have to stop his career as a rider. You can get to know this Master Camp‘s “Mr. Positive” in the Rider Introduction Video and read his take on the fitness class in his Yamaha VR46 Master Camp blog entry. The short race was won by bin Aziz, ahead of Setiawan and Boonlert in second and third place respectively. It was time to say “arrivederci” to Bagnaia, who's work was done for the day. However, the young protégés weren‘t ready to leave the circuit yet and headed back out in go-karts. Demmery had previous experience in karting, having worked as a mechanic, which also required doing test drives. He set the standard high for the other riders, but they soon found a good rhythm. The Australian came first in a friendly kart competition, Cases and Boonlert came second and third. (You can get to know the laid-back and fully motivated Demmery, better by watching his rider interview video). Overall the riders were very happy with the variety of experiences and skills they acquired yesterday (see the Day 2 review video), which left them feeling excited for more track action on day three, today. Alessio Salucci: "First of all, I want to say that I‘m very happy that the third Master Camp is in session. It is always a very exciting five days for us, when new talent joins the VR46 group. We‘ve only seen a small sample of the riders' capabilities at the Motor Ranch and at the Misanino kart track, so it‘s difficult to understand at what level the riders are exactly, after only two days. That said, I can tell the riders are having a lot of fun whilst picking up new skills. I already saw that a couple of riders are very good and I think it‘s possible to really bring out their potential over the next few days, because there will be a lot more action to come!" Peerapong Boonlert: "Yesterday was really nice! I really liked the simulator, it‘s a great way to exercise and I‘m sure that it will help me to improve my skills on the motorbike. I also had a good experience at the Misanino circuit and I finished third in the MiniGP, so that motivates me to do my best again today! I want to thank Yamaha Motor Thailand for giving me this opportunity and I feel really excited for day three." Anggi Setiawan: "I was very excited yesterday, because everything was completely new to me. It was an actionpacked day! We started with Pilates and then moved on to the simulator to head into the MiniGP and karting straight after that. I feel that what I learned yesterday is very important for my future as a racer, because I felt an improvement after applying all those skills. I especially liked the Pilates class, because I felt this is something very helpful, and for sure I will try to do something like this back in Indonesia. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to do things that I thought I would never be able to do."
The second day of the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp had a lot more action in store for Peerapong Boonlert (Thailand, 18), Anggi Setiawan (Indonesia, 18), Shota Ite (Japan, 15), Muhammad Akid bin Aziz (Malaysia, 18), Brandon Demmery (Australia,19) and Tomas Casas (Canada, 17) than they dreamed of. In the morning they were taught how to train on a racing simulator with Andrea Migno and Luca Marini, the afternoon was filled with Francesco Bagnaia teaching the Master Camp riders how to pick the perfect line whilst MiniGP racing at the Misanino KCE World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The young hopefuls ended the training with a karting session. Though day one had taken its toll on the riders, a good night sleep meant they started off day two full of energy and raring to go. The first stop was the Fisio Gym, to learn how to use a race simulator. After a quick warm-up to loosen the muscles, the group split into two: one half went on to participate in a Pilates class, while the other half was demonstrated how to use a race simulator by Migno. Muhammad Akid Bin Aziz: "Like the other students, I was very excited about yesterday‘s programme because the things we learned were new to us. I enjoyed Pilates and of course the race simulator as well, but to me the best part of the day was the MiniGP. That part I really enjoyed! It was the first time for me to ride on a two-stroke and I came second in the MiniGP race!" Brandon Demmery: "Yesterday was very interesting. We went to the gym to try the race simulator and Pilates, which is something I had never done before, so that was a lot of fun and very helpful. It was something very different to what I normally do. In the afternoon we did some laps on mini bikes and in go-karts. The MiniGP was a bit hard for me, because I‘m a bit too big for the bike, so I struggled a bit, but the go-karts were good. I won the race and I‘m very happy with the day, it was good fun!" Tomas Casas: "Yesterday was a really fun day. We started in the gym, trying out the race simulator, which was pretty awesome. Migno demonstrated how it works and made it look a lot easier than it actually was, but it was a good experience for us to try the simultor and adjust to it. It‘s a good training and helps you to get to know tracks and get used to bikes. Afterwards we did some Pilates, which was a nice way to end the morning session, to feel relaxed. We then went to the go-kart track and we tried MiniGP, which is was a great experience for myself, as I had never been on a MiniGP bike before. It was a little strange and it took some time getting used to the position, because the bike is so small. I was a little tight, but once I got the hang of it I was able to go faster as I went. It was a lot of fun and I learned many things. It was good to ride go-karts as well, which as a good way to end the day and now I‘m looking forward to going to the Motor Ranch today. Again a big thank you to the VR46 Academy, Valentino Rossi and Yamaha for everything, it‘s been a great opportunity and a lot of fun so far."
English Flat Track Champion and two-time American and European Flat Track Champion, Marco Belli, is a major force at the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp. The first and second edition students not only looked up to his amazing skills (they referred to him as “King of the Sands”), but also loved him for his clear explanations, patience and feel-good persona. Not only does Belli have vast experience in dirt bike racing, he also knows the Motor Ranch inside out and he is willing to share his knowledge. Me and the 3rd Master Camp students head out on track. Ciao tutti, I’ve been asked to talk to you about the VR46 Motor Ranch, or as I call it “Paradise”. I was first approached by these guys in 2008, mostly by Graziano Rossi, and back then they were practising at the old cava, a quarry. This is a place where Valentino used to practise. Valentino rode on different materials and different lay-outs all the time, but then he began to realise that he needed a Again in 2017, Italian rounds, Ducati fans can proper place for hisatpractice sessions. the race cheer on the MotoGP I wasexperience lucky because I got and a meeting with hisDucati engineer and and S Bgave K teams from a decidedly privileged position. personally him the basic dimensions of the oval. Every corner, braking and line point is different, so it challenges you every time you go out there. It’s something unique, there is no other place like this. There are personalised tracks all over the world, but when you see a classic oval it’s flat and maybe 260m in length. Here a full lap-time takes you over two minutes and you can ride it clock-wise or anti-clockwise. It’s the perfect place to practise.

Another challenging aspect to this track is its surface. The temperatures in the winter are very different here compared to the summer, so the surface is changed as well. It’s a very particular surface, a mix of crushed stones and sand, so it can absorb moisture and isn’t very slippery, you can slide yet still have traction. But there is a golden ratio: if the track is too wet, it’s slippery, if the track is too dry it’s too slippery. There is a ‘magical condition’ where the dirt works at its best and to find this balance they had to do a lot of practising, because the conditions are always changing. It’s affected by the sun and the temperature. Keeping this in mind, you can have the ‘magical condition’ in one part of the track and something completely different on the other side. As a rider you have to adapt your riding, so this is another great learning stimulating feature of this track. I remember the first time I rode here very well. There wasn’t any dirt yet, just drawings on the outside of where the track is now, to indicate the lay-out. Vale, Mattia Pasini and a lot of other guys were at the big oval at the top and they were thinking “what is he doing?”, because it was many years ago, when I was still fast, so I entered the corner at a 110%, maybe even a bit more, because I had Valentino in front of me, so I had to show off. It was super! It made me realise how important dirt track riding skills are for any other motorsport, because it directly relates to the base of the sport: to control the bike. I hope everyone keep showing a big interest in the Master Camp programme, which is a big pleasure for me to participate in. Ciao!

6.
In order to maintain the forward movement of the bike while pulling a wheelie, keep a firm control on the throttle. Don’t try and use the throttle to maintain the height of the bike.
1.
Your body should be in the basic riding position with your elbows bent, but arms firm, and grip the tank with your thighs.
2.
Maintain a constant speed of five to eight km/h and keep the rev count at 5.5–6k RPM. If your bike is too slow, it may go sideways as you pop the wheelie and if you’re going too fast, the bike won’t produce enough torque to pull up.
3.
Remember to keep your fingers on the clutch. If and when you panic, your first reaction would be to pull in the clutch and this will bring the bike down.
7.
When you’re up in the air and if you feel that the bike is moving sideways, shift and use your body weight to get the bike back in a straight line. You may also reduce the air pressure in the rear tyre to give you greater traction.
8.
Keep the handle as straight as possible. This is a safety precaution so that you don’t fall in case the bike comes down abruptly.
4.
Once you’ve got the bike at the right speed and RPM, pop the clutch in quick motion and not gradually. With this the front end of the bike will rise up.
5.
To maintain the height of the wheelie you have to use the rear brake. The more you apply the rear brake, the quicker the bike will come down. The more you release the brake the higher it will rise. GoPro Karma is available at selected retailers in Malaysia through its sole distributor Funsportz Sdn. Bhd., starting May 7th 2017. Karma features a compact, fits-in-a-small-backpack design and includes an image-stabilization grip that can be handheld or mounted to vehicles, gear and more. Karma makes it easy for anyone to capture amazingly smooth, stabilized video during almost any activity. GoPro is stoked to bring Karma to “Malaysia” and show how much more it is than a drone. Thanks to the extension cable for Karma Grip which has been available from April 9th, the handheld and mounted experience will be even simpler. • A game-style controller features an integrated touch display, making it fun, fast and easy to fly without the need for a separate phone or tablet to see what your drone sees. • The 3-axis camera stabilizer can be removed from the drone and attached to the included Karma Grip for capturing ultra-smooth handheld and gear-mounted footage. Karma will be bundled with HERO5 Black for MYR 5,999.00 including GST.
