FIRST AUTOMATED MICROLOAN Mobile app

GoodKredit Malaysia (GoodKredit), the country’s first automated short-term microloan provider, will empower Malaysians in need of urgent funds with a quick financial solution. Utilising state-ofthe-art technology and credit scoring algorithms via mobile devices, this is another essential step in the development of an inclusive financial system in Malaysia. It is well documented that the escalating cost of living is putting undue financial pressure on the B40 and M40 groups in Malaysia. Their financial situation is further compounded especially when faced with unanticipated expenses. With limited access to legitimate financial assistance, the B40 and M40 groups are more often than not caught in a vulnerable position. With an acute understanding of this situation, the GoodKredit mobile app is designed to empower eligible Malaysians with a short-term microloan solution to address their financial situation.

Licensed under the umbrella of Credit Community (Kredit Komuniti) by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) and governed by the Moneylenders Act 1951, this service offers a microloan between RM 1,000 to RM 10,000. These loans mainly in the form of cash, have a repayment tenure of either six, nine or twelve months and an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) of 18%. No collateral or a guarantor is required. Interested Malaysians can now apply for a microloan via the GoodKredit mobile app.

Cheok Tuan Oon, Chief Executive Officer of GoodKredit said: “GoodKredit is here to make lending more efficient, scalable and an option to those truly in need. This is a huge untapped opportunity for us to empower Malaysians, facing unanticipated needs and less able to access the traditional financial system. GoodKredit offers the financially underserved, speed to meet emergencies for needs, not wants.” “In addition to playing our role in building a more financially inclusive ecosystem, we also want to enable a financially prudent and disciplined society. GoodKredit is not just here to provide funds, most importantly, we want to promulgate financial responsibility,” he added.

Amelia Tan, Head of Brand and Communications of GoodKredit was on hand to explain the workings of the mobile app. She said, “The application of a microloan on GoodKredit just takes three steps. First, the applicant would have to download the app, fill in all their details and then submit the required documents via the app.

Utilizing our in-house built technology, together with other financial information provided through our partnership with CTOS, GoodKredit would know within 30 minutes, if a loan is approved or rejected. In keeping with compliance requirements set out by KPKT, loans would be disbursed by GoodKredit in one working day.” She continued “While we acknowledge that technology today makes it easier for people to access GoodKredit Malaysia’s services, we recognize that there is a further need to equip people with knowledge, understanding, and education when utilizing our services. We seek to enhance financial inclusion by providing financial literacy. There is a need for increased financial education and accelerating the inclusion of the underserved segment of the market. When these groups are given due consideration and supported within the eco-system, individuals, families and communities will begin to prosper.” GoodKredit is now available nationwide and may be downloaded on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1M

Look what we got! Yamaha YZF-R1M. Could this be an everyday bike? We waited two years for R1MBO the Yamaha R1M, and we confirm the R1M is not a Bimbo, cos what you tell her to do she will do it its effortless. But riding R1MBO need some skills but pretty easy to get use to. Ridden the previous generation R1 and the standard R1, both have very long gears. With the long gears, you can pull the 1st gear to over 150km/h and like a very, very fast scooter. And shifting in to other gears is so smooth with the quick shifter. But sometimes there will be miss shifting to 2nd if I quick shift below 5k rpm. City riding uses less of 5th and 6th. Usually I use only till 4th gear and I can do 220km/h. Because of the long gearing, down shifting to first gear is super smooth and easy also it doesn’t lock up the rear when I drop to first gear. Unlike other superbike I sure that the R1M can be a ridden daily.

As soon as you get on the bike it will take a while to get use to the snatchy throttle. Only weird thing I get from the R1M is when I shut the throttle and I open back the throttle to find the neutral throttle, it feels lagging a bit under 6krpm but then when I try to open a bit more of the throttle then the power comes like a wild horse rushing out of the gates. And try not to blink when you are opening the throttle, for sure you will get vehicles in a distance just come right infront of you in a blink of an eye! There are 4 modes to choose from but there is a flaw which is you cannot change a mode while riding if the traction control setting within those modes are different that’s because the wheel speed sensors need to stop to change. So if you are riding and it starts raining you have to stop to change the mode to D and all the modes you can set your preference. The throttle response is not aggressive, it is aggressive butits got a bit of lag at the initial part of the aggressive its weird if you blip the throttle you will get a retardation as you open back the throttle. The throttle is not easy at low revs but its easy above the 6k rpm range. That’s where this bike want to live, above the 6-7k rpm. But for daily road commuting the bike is soft at the lower rpm and that makes the R1M quite manageable in the city commuting. The handling of the R1M is so accurate that what you want to do, where you want to go it will do as you command. The suspension lets me feel everything on the tarmac and more. If I run over an ant I could feel It squashing!

i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1M

SCS Slide Control? I tried to test the SCS but I could not slide it as the bike was well planted on the tarmac. Along with the revised ECU maps and settings, the R1M’s Lift Control System (LIF) is some new to me. So I did a bit of research about the Lift Control System! Well this is not the push button go 15th floor lift control nor an anti-wheelie control as I was told; LIF is more like wheelie control allowing the smooth lift of the front wheel under hard acceleration. Wheelie when counter steering out of corners at high speed, the R1M has it all under control. To begin with, you have to recalibrate your brain-to-hand coordination, teaching yourself to keep the power on, trusting the space stationrivalling technology. Sadly, while it smooths out the lift part there is still a tendency for the more ham-fisted that the bike comes crashing back down – maybe that will be fixed in the next update.

Three different settings offer variation in the speed of lift and it can be turned off. But the R1M is the most Technologically Advanced bike out of the Yamaha factory and the closest thing you can get to the MotoGP M1.

WHAT YOU WILL! 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that offers controllability over traction, slides, front wheel lift, braking and launches. Its Communication Control Unit with GPS allows looking at lap times and other running data on an Android-based tablet and R1M’s Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) delivers ultimate handling. Making the R1M like a super computer on 2 wheels. With its 201HP CP4 Crossplane engine, a short wheelbase and Deltabox chassis, 3D control electronics and exclusive carbon bodywork, the R1M brings M1 derived factory-bike technology to enthusiast.

The YZF-R1M is a production Superbike that’s as close as you can get to a streetlegal Yamaha MotoGP bike. The YZF-R1M features a completely new, lightweight and compact, Crossplane-concept, inline-fourcylinder, 998cc high-output engine. First ever for a production motorcycle that comes with titanium fracture split connecting rods delivering extremely high horsepower and a strong pulse of linear torque for outstanding performance. IMU consists of a gyro sensor that measures pitch, roll, and yaw, as well as an accelerometer or G-sensor that measures acceleration in the fore-aft, updown, and right-left directions…all at a rate of 125 calculations per second. By calculating each signal, the IMU finds the precise vehicle position and movement, and communicates it to the ECU, enabling it to control the bike’s systems.

i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1M

The R1M features an Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), carbon fiber bodywork (upper fairing, side fairings, and front fender), and a Communication Control Unit (CCU) with GPS that enables the rider to capture ride data (including GPS tracking) and then download it via WiFi to the Yamaha Y-TRAC smartphone and tablet app. Once the data is downloaded, the rider can analyze it overlaid with the track map. Setting changes can then be made via the Yamaha “YRC” app, and upload those changes back to the R1M.

The R1MBO is a 2015 YZF-R1M which is fully equipped with banking-sensitive Traction Control, as well as Slide Control, Anti-Wheelie Control, Quickshifter, Launch Control, ABS, a Unified Braking System, and much more. The all-new R1M gives street riders, track day participants, and full-on racers an unmatched and unprecedented level of rider-adaptive performance.

road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1M

All-new aluminum Deltabox frame is designed to provide optimum longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity balance. The engine is a stressed member of the chassis. An all-new titanium exhaust system with titanium headers and muffler canister with mid-ship layout is positioned low and in the middle of the chassis for centralized mass. Additional R1M features include a clearcoated aluminum fuel tank, a highly polished aluminum swingarm, goldcolored front radial-mount calipers, special finished gold inner tubes on the 43mm Ă–hlins front forks, and a unique R1M badge on the airbox cover. ENGINE: The all-new 998cc in-line 4-cylinder, crossplane crankshaft engine features titanium fracture-split connecting rods, which are an industry first for a

production motorcycle. The specific titanium alloy used to manufacture the new connecting rods is around 60% lighter than steel, and this major reduction in weight gives the new R1M engine a responsive and potent character at high rpm. This all-new engine delivers extremely high horsepower and a strong pulse of linear torque. With an ultra-high 13.0:1 compression ratio, the all-new engine also features twin injectors on each cylinder, with a bidirectional spray in the lower injector where fuel is directed toward the back of the intake valves, boosting the number of droplets that go directly into the combustion chamber and at high rpms, the secondary injectors add a boost in fuel delivery maximizing combustion efficiency and engine performance. Lightweight magnesium engine covers are used to further reduce weight while rocker-arm valve actuation allows for

larger valve lift further boosting horsepower. The R1M features the most advanced MotoGP inspired electronics package ever offered on any motorcycle: a full suite of inter-related technologies, enabling the rider to enjoy the fullest range of performance with great comfort, control, and ease of operation. Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is the first on production motorcycle featuring six axis of measurement: It consists of a gyro sensor that measures pitch, roll, and yaw, as well as an accelerometer, or Gsensor, that measures acceleration in the fore-aft, up-down, and right-left directions…all at a rate of 125 calculations per second. The IMU communicates with the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) Yamaha’s most advanced electronics package ever offered on a production motorcycle. Includes Power Delivery Mode, Traction Control System, Slide Control System, Lift Control System, Launch Control System and Quick Shift System. All these systems are

adjustable and can be saved within four presets. Another feature exclusive to the all new R1M that takes electronic control to an all new level is the Yamaha-exclusive Communication Control Unit. The CCU allows riders to communicate with the vehicle via Wi-Fi through Yamaha’s exclusive Y-TRAC smartphone and tablet app. The onboard system is comprised of the CCU and GPS antenna. Running data can be recorded via a data logger, with course mapping and automatic lap timing managed by GPS.

i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1M This data can then be wirelessly downloaded to the Android or Apple iOS app where it can be analyzed, and setting changes can be made within the app to later be uploaded to the R1M. This Yamaha exclusive Y-TRAC system gives an all new connection to the machine that has never been seen outside of the factory race pits, further blurring that line between production superbike and MotoGP® bike. Power Delivery Mode (PWR), similar to the earlier “D-Mode” system, lets the rider choose from four settings of throttle-valve opening rate in relation to the degree of throttle-grip opening to best match their riding conditions. But cant change the mode on the go if the traction control are not the same. Variable Traction Control System (TCS) with lean angle calculating the differential in front to rear wheel speed as well as the lean angle, it helps prevent rear wheel spin when exiting corners. As lean angle increases, so does the amount of control…with ten separate settings (off and 1-9) enabling the rider to dial in the exact level of control needed. Slide Control System (SCS), the first of its kind on a production motorcycle comes directly from the YZR-M1. It works in tandem with the IMU, where, if a slide

is detected while accelerating during hard leaning conditions, the ECU will step in and control engine power to reduce the slide. This too can be adjusted by the rider. Four settings (1-3 and off). Lift Control System (LIF): IMU detects the front to rear pitch rate and the ECU controls engine power to reduce the front wheel lift during acceleration. Four settings (1-3 and off). Launch Control System (LCS), limits engine rpms to 10,000 wide open throttle. It maintains optimum engine output in conjunction with input from the TCS and LIF systems to maximize acceleration from a standing start. Three settings (1-2 and off). Quick Shift System (QSS) cuts engine output so riders can up-shift without using the clutch and closing the throttle, for quicker lap times, also with three variable settings (1-2 and off). Assist and slipper clutch is used to give the rider more confident downshifts when entering corners aggressively. The R1M uses YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle), fly-by-wire technology providing optimum power delivery. YCC-I is Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake which is a variable intake system that broadens the spread of power in both low and high rpm.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION: The R1M features a highly advanced Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension. The Suspension Control Unit receives data from the Inertial Measurement Unit, which communicates vehicle speed, attitude, lean angle, acceleration and brake pressure, then adjusts the front and rear compression as well as rebound damping for optimum suspension performance. The system comes with two modes. “Automatic” mode continuously adjusts rebound and compression damping as you ride providing ideal damping force for the track or the street and can be fine tuned to the riders needs. The “manual” mode allows riders to fine tune to the settings they choose then holds these settings while riding. All-new Aluminum Deltabox® frame and magnesium subframe contribute to a light weight and compact chassis design. The aluminum frame is both strong and flexible, with rigid engine mounts, making

the engine a stressed member of the frame for optimal rigidity balance and great cornering performance on the racetrack.

The wheelbase is 10mm shorter than the previous R1 adding to cornering performance, however the ratio of swing arm length to wheelbase is 40.5%, the same as the current R1 for excellent linear stability. Also featured is an aluminum 17 litre fuel tank, weighing in at a full 1.5kg less than a comparable steel tank.

The track developed and tested racing ABS and Unified Braking System provide maximum braking performance. UBS inhibits unwanted rear end motion during braking by activating the rear brake when the front brake is applied, with force distribution based on the bike’s attitude and lean angle. All-new Nissin 4-piston radial mounted front calipers ride on big 320mm rotors for excellent stopping power.

The 2015 R1MBO is equipped with a newly designed exhaust system manufactured mainly from titanium. Plus, a compact, midship muffler contributes towards the mass centralization that is a key feature on the R1M. 10-spoke cast magnesium wheels that reduce rotational mass by 0.85 kg over the previous model reduces unsprung weight for quick direction changes and improved handling. The R1M also features a thin-film transistor LCD meter, with brilliant color, for precise monitoring of all vehicle systems, including front brake pressure and fore/aft G-force making it easier than ever to take the bike to its limits. It features a “street mode” and a “race mode” that focuses on information that’s more important on the track, such as YRC settings, a zoomed in view of the tachometer in the upper rpm range, a lap timer with best lap and last lap feature, gear position indicator and speed, just to name a few. ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Ultra-lightweight materials are used throughout like carbon fiber body components with unique R1M color and graphics and the exclusive “R1M” badge

on top of the air box. All-new dynamic “M1” inspired styling that creates a more compact profile with improved aerodynamics. All-new LED headlights are both lightweight, and compact allowing for a more streamlined design and layout of the front face. All-new LED front turn signals are integrated into the mirrors for improved aerodynamics. The YZF-R1M features the most advanced MotoGP inspired electronics package ever offered on a supersport machine: a full suite of inter-related technologies, enabling the rider to enjoy the fullest range of performance with great comfort, control, and ease of operation.

Featuring the first six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) ever offered on a street-going motorcycle, the 2015 R1M represents the dawn of a new digital era where all riders can experience total 3D controllability. Price range is around RM178,000 at AP holder as Hong Leong Yamaha does not bring in the CBU R1M nor the R1 range, although this test bike is from Hong Leong Yamaha Motor.

i-Moto Track TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1

Theory classroom combine with on track practical We got to test the Yamaha YZF-R1 for few session last weekend and I realise just how good this modified R1 for track day is. Still it’s a 2016 YZF-R1, but I can’t believe it when the R1 electronics kicks in and makes the R1 pretty easy to handle on a Go Kart Track, we only manage to get to 4th gear. Almost in every corner on 2nd gear, only a little pump on the throttle, the rear will slide. And you can feel the Traction Control kicks in! 1st session I was riding in A mode and boy it was fun! Open the throttle get on the Brembo brakes and turned it hard into the first corner and I was zooming and sliding away from the rest. Only thing is I can open full throttle on the bigger Sepang Circuit. But this is no ego trip, it’s testimony to how good the Yamaha R1 feels, the faster you ride it, the more rewarding the R1 becomes.

i-Moto Track TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R1

MotoGP®- level Controllability Featuring the first six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) ever offered on a streetgoing motorcycle, the 2016 R1 represents the dawn of a new digital era where all riders can experience total 3D controllability.

Informed Systems IMU consists of a gyro sensor that measures pitch, roll, and yaw, as well as an accelerometer, or G-sensor, that measures acceleration in the fore-aft, up-down, and right-left directions… all at a rate of 125 calculations per second. By calculating each signal, the IMU finds the precise vehicle position and movement, and communicates it to the ECU, enabling it to control the bike’s systems.

Digital Rider Aids The YZF-R1 is fully equipped with banking-sensitive Traction Control, as well as Slide Control, Wheel Lift Control, Quickshifter, Launch Control, ABS, a Unified Braking System, and much more. The allnew R1 gives street riders, track day participants, and full-on racers an unmatched and unprecedented level of rider-adaptive performance.

DeltaboxÂŽ Frame Advanced aluminum DeltaboxÂŽ frame uses the engine as a stressed member of the chassis and is designed to provide optimum longitudinal, lateral and torsional rigidity balance.

This R1 out puts 220hp, weighs in at 190 kg wet. Get it into a corner, fire it on its side, feel the track compound Bridgestone RS10 dig in and then fire it out on the traction control and it’s gone. In, out and through the corners. While in stock this R1 doesn’t come with

GP4RX Calipers

The Akrapovic exhaust system is claimed to give addtional 10hp Brembo, but the owner Javier changed it to Brembo GP4RX Calipers, Brembo disc plates, reflashed the ECU, fitted a full system Akrapovic that drop the weight by 10kg, with race fairings fitted too. The Akrapovic exhaust system is claimed to give addtinal 10hp, so combined with the weight loss you’re looking at an R1 within the region of 220hp, weighs in at 190 kg wet.

The i-Moto i-RideClinic has many things to offer from throttle control all the way to a knee down to relax and confidence riding, as a rider ourselves, we believe when it comes to rider training, you can never have enough when it comes to motorcycle riding. Every rider has one or to bad habits especially when it comes to a deeprooted fear of falling and crashing. We aim to address the fear by sharing essential riding skills with our fellow riders. Most of us fear the unknown and after all, we as motorcyclists don’t often get the opportunity for guided riding sessions at the limit; the limit here that is, our machines and our minds. Our 30 years of riding experience helps improve rider’s skills with the do’s and

don’ts which then used to make the riding experience safer and more enjoyable. But that’s just not all that, and i-RideClinic instructors provide plenty of feedback to help each student become a better, faster and most importantly a safer rider. Roger Chia started i-RideClinic courses back in Aug 2016, and have conducted over 30 riding clinics which have benefited over 400 riders. i-RideClinic modules are designed to be a bridge a trackday experience at a smaller Kart Track while improving open road riding skills and prepare for a trackday experience on a big circuit like Sepang International Circuit. i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R15

We rarely get to see an entirely new and truly amazing addition to the lower supersport category, but recently in August, Yamaha launched the third generation Yamaha YZF-R15 and it’s been pretty stunning from the moment you start riding it to its full potential and I have no reasons to complain, except for the tyres in the wet. But in the dry the made in Indonesia IRC tyre performed with average grip.

The light and nimble liquid cooled, fourvalve single-cylinder engine, 6 gears, VVT 155cc engine gives out 19hp @ 11,000rpm. The racy looks does perform pretty well in corners too as attains the DNA of its other siblings the R6 and R1. This is the first locally assemble Yamaha under 200cc which come pre-installed as standard, “inverted front forks” (UpSideDown suspension).

Evolution instead of revolution this R15 has a racetrack-worthy Deltabox chassis and hi-tech engine packaged into a racylooking motorcycle that’s dished out at a price just within reach of college goers and to new riders. Acceleration from lower gear was impressive even with full throttle all the way to the sixth gear with rpm limiter 11,500. We got top speed of 155km/h @

11,000 rpm, even with over revv light came out, just change gear the VVT engine doesn’t lag like other 200cc bikes we tested.

Compare to FZ150, Yamaha has upped the tyre size to 140/17 at the rear, combine with its 137kg weight make the R15 easy flickable around short back to back corners.

i-Moto road TEST: YAMAHA YZF-R15 Braking comes with 282 mm disc brake at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear. The brakes have enough bite, however,Yamaha does not offer ABS, but with AssistedSlipper Clutch to prevent rear wheel hopping. Riding position is sporty, racy and lower than any bikes in its category. A great starter bike at RM11,988excluding road tax and insurance.

Road test: 2019 YAMAHA YZF – R25

When the 1st gen R25 debuted five years ago, the YZF-R25 quickly became a very popular model in Malaysia. And why not? A smooth, quick-revving 249cc parallel twin-cylinder engine supported by a very capable chassis and wrapped in supersport-style bodywork while selling for under RM20k was a sure recipe for swift sales off the showroom floor. The R25 soon stood atop Yamaha motorcycle sales charts and has been one of the company’s best sellers ever since. The 2019 Yamaha YZF-R25 V2, which was recently launched early this year, has made a number of changes. Most notable is the front inverted suspension replacing the age-old telescopic front forks. Inverted front forks not only adds stability and better handling it also adds feel feeling of the tyres when you’re in the corner and let you feel the level of grip of your tyre and its character. So does the new and improved inverted front suspension makes a difference in the handling department of the R25?

For sure the R25 gets my vote for the best roadhandling 250cc you and your money can get, straight out of the dealership. However, do change the stock iRC tyre if you intend to go to the hilly corners!

During the road test, I had a few moments. I turn in to a corner which had a patch of sand right in the middle of the corner. And a nice slide came like riding a motorcross bike while on my way to the office.

Riding after the rain also can be a bit of a task for the standard fitted iRC tyres as for sure you’ll will get a slide on the while lines even when you’re upright riding! Third moment I had was during the Labour day ride when I accidentally shifted to second gear while negotiating a sharp bend at Bukit Tinggi, another key point I discovered was the R25 should get a slipper clutch as standard. In fact all the latest bike launched should be fitted with “slipper clutch”. I had an out of the seat experience but manage to save it with some quick reflexes!

But my advice to new owners of the R25, please change the tyre FIRST before you start modding your R25 like with an aftermarket exhaust! While the new R25 gets my thumbs up in the suspension department, the engine feels abit too smooth and lacked the torquey feeling. It was rather “MILD” I would say. Since the engine remain unchanged from the previous (and first) mode while its accessible power delivery will appeal, it’s comes at the expense of outright excitement.

You really don’t have to work it hard to get the best from it, The riding positing seems more sportier as the handle bar is fitted under the triple clamp, makes the sportier ride feel. But still could do another 1 inch lowering from stock. I'm pretty sure young and new riders would easily ride the R25.

Sadly the R25 rear tail also remain the unchanged unlike R15 which got the R1 tail fins! Still the new R25 resembles the highrevving R6 and ludicrously beautiful and powerful R1 in certain angles and It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but sports bike riders like me and experience enthusiasts might find it slightly lacking in the power department.

With 249cc engine liquid-cooled, DOHC inline twin-cylinder; 8 valves this lightweight super sport gets a whole new YZR-M1 inspired looks which makes it the most radical 250cc machine on the street. Its sleek new Cross Layered bodywork echoes the Yamaha’s YZR-M1 machine and the aggressive new dual LED headlights underline its pure R-series DNA siblings the R6 and R1M.

Like I said earlier the engine remains the same with the current R25, diamond-type chassis with twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, fuel-injected engine that is capable of churning out 36 HP at 12,000 rpm, 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 10,000 rpm, set to rivals the new Ninja 250 which churns out 39 HP and could be launching very soon CBR250RR.

BMW MOTORRAD MALAYSIA introduced four new models

BMW Motorrad Malaysia today unveiled a portfolio of new dynamic and premium motorcycles from its adventure, touring and urban scooter segments. The new motorcycles introduced are the BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT urban scooters from its Urban Mobility segment as well as an enduro all-rounder, the new BMW F 750 GS and a dynamic travel tourer, the new BMW R 1250 RT.

The new BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT are equipped with newly developed engines for swifter movement through traffic to avoid big city congestion.

While the F 750 GS and R 1250 RT feature advanced engines finely tuned to achieve a whole new level of power and torque for a superior riding experience.

i-Moto LAUNCH

Introducing the new premium motorcycles, Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “We have demonstrated our expertise in reliability, forward-thinking innovations, excellent craftsmanship, trendsetting design as well as responsible manufacturing methods with our portfolio of premium motorcycles from BMW Motorrad – all of which have strengthened

our position as a leader in the premium motorcycle segment globally and in Malaysia.” Hoelzl added that BMW Motorrad Malaysia has gone from strength to strength year on year, delivering over a thousand motorcycles to new owners in 2018, marking a 7% growth over the previous year. Owen Riley, Head of BMW Motorrad

Malaysia, meanwhile, said, “For over 35 years, the GS and RT models have stood for premium riding enjoyment whether on an extended tour or a short weekend trip, propelling forward with high-powered adrenaline. The BMW Urban Mobility range, alternatively, was developed as a future-oriented mobility solution perfect for a metropolitan environment. With the introduction of these four new models, our expansive portfolio leaves no one behind as it its the lifestyle needs of both the adventurous and the modern.”

Urban mobility in the new BMW C 400 X and BMW C 400 GT.The new BMW C 400 X is a mid-sized scooter that easily overcomes challenges of mobility in a city. Its design is light and manoeuvrable. The implied V-shaped trim components make it appear dynamic and mobile when viewed from the front – a silhouette that emphasises the superiority of the new BMW C 400 X in tight alleys and dense traffic.

i-Moto LAUNCH In addition, the new BMW C 400 X also features the robust and reliable spirit of the GS: the upright proportions, the suggestion of a front mudguard, the clear, graphic separation of the painted trim components and the large asymmetric LED headlight with the optional distinctive daytime running light design are clear characteristics of this. However, the modern design doesn’t just highlight its urban coolness but also excellent wind and weather protection. The ingenious storage concept comprises two integrated storage compartments and the Flexcase under the comfortable, single-section seat for more convenience while on the road. The new BMW C 400 GT meanwhile was what established the maxi scooter segment. As the Gran Turismo variant of the BMW C 400 X, this mid-size scooter is geared towards further increased comfort and enhanced touring capability. Whether riding into the city centre, travelling to the office or enjoying a tour after work or at the weekend – the new BMW C 400 GT is the perfect partner on which to enjoy free-time riding to the full: not just alone but with a passenger, too. Also equipped with LED lighting technology, the new BMW C 400 GT can be instantly identified by the aerodynamically designed twin LED headlight. The ergonomically designed seat guarantees a comfortable as well as confident seating position – whether for the short jaunt or a longer trip. What looks really good from the front is also impressive from the rear: narrow, progressive and full of emotions – that’s what makes the city even more fun. The new BMW C 400 GT has a separate rider backrest while both the rider’s and passenger’s feet rest on comfortable footboards integrated in the body of the dynamic scooter. The new BMW C 400 GT also has enhanced wind and weather protection with a higher windshield as compared to the BMW C 400 X to meet the demands of both everyday practicality and touring suitability.

i-Moto LAUNCH Both Urban Mobility models are powered by an efficiency-optimised single-cylinder engine with a capacity of 350cc combined with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), vibration decoupling and Automatic Stability Control (ASC) as standard. The optimised engine outputs 34 hp (25 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 35 Nm peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The models employ power transmission through a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox including a torsional drivetrain swing arm with minimum vibration. Safety is also reassured during acceleration with the Automatic Stability Control (ASC), an anti-slip control system which limits the amount of engine drive torque transmitted according to road surface conditions. Furthermore, suspension and damping are managed by a telescopic fork at the front and two spring struts at the rear. They are also equipped with excellent brake performance thanks to the twin disc brake at the front accompanied with a single disc brake at the rear and fitted with Antilock Brake System (ABS) as standard. Whether cruising through the city or going on a tour, staying connected is important. Fast, clear information for the rider with minimum distraction from the road is possible with the new optional equipment item Connectivity, featuring an instrument cluster in the form of a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen. Together with the further

advanced BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller offering integrated operation, it allows the rider to access vehicle and connectivity functions. In addition to the convenience of being able to use the phone and listen to music during travel, there is also the benefit of effortless navigation by means of arrow-based navigation available through the BMW Motorrad Connected App. The new Urban Mobility scooters also features the advanced Keyless Ride where the steering lock, ignition, fuel-filler flap and anti-theft device are all activated by a transponder integrated in the vehicle key. The new BMW C 400 GT are available in three paint finishes – the non-metallic Alpine White and Moonwalk Grey, and the metallic Black Storm. The new BMW C 400 X meanwhile is available in three paint finishes – the metallic Zenith Blue and Black Storm, as well as the non-metallic Alpine White. The new BMW F 750 GS, travel enduro with strong character. The new BMW F 750 GS is designed for all riders who prefer the sensation and conceptual design of a travel enduro in combination with a low seat height, copious power availability, and powerful all-round qualities.

i-Moto LAUNCH From the slim rear to the striking front tank right up to the GS-typical top front mudguard, the design elements of the new BMW F 750 GS speak a clear language: the motorcycle has the GS gene. Unmistakeable and original is the signature flyline. With the view on the front, the new headlamps are particularly striking – a real light icon. And the galvanised radiator blind with the Exclusive style highlights the high quality of the all-rounder and embodies the spirit of GS.

The new BMW F 750 GS is equipped with a completely new instrument cluster with Connectivity capabilities and featuring a 6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen instrument cluster.

The New BMW F 750 GS is offered in the following finishes – Austin Yellow Metallic, Style Exclusive Stereo Metallic Matt, or Light White.

The new BMW F 750 GS is affixed with a powerfully reengineered 2-cylinder in-line engine and two counterbalance shafts that absorbs unwanted vibrations. It also has a firing interval of 270/450 degrees to provide an emotional sound. With a displacement of 853 cc and power output 77 hp (57 kW) at 7,500 rpm, the new BMW F 750 GS packs a more powerful punch than its predecessor. A self-amplifying, anti-hopping clutch affixed to the new BMW F 750 GS provides a discernible force reduction when operating the hand clutch while the dropin drag torque enhances road safety. Power transmission to the rear wheel is generated by the 6-speed gearbox with secondary drive that is now positioned on the left-hand side. Riding modes available for the new BMW F 750 GS include ‘Road’ and ‘Rain’ modes that address individual rider requirements. In ‘Rain’ mode, the throttle response is configured to be softer while the control characteristics of the Automatic Stability Control (ASC) or Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Automatic Braking System (ABS) are based on slippery road surfaces. Additionally, the combination of the ABS and the ASC ensures a high level of safety for the rider as well.

The new BMW R 1250 RT built for touring. For more than 35 years, the boxer engine in GS and RT models have stood for distinctive, powerful and reliable propulsion when it comes to setting off on an extended tour or a long-distance journey – or simply enjoying the satisfying pleasure of a short weekend trip. The new BMW R 1250 RT is no different.

i-Moto LAUNCH With the extensively further advanced boxer engine, the new BMW R 1250 RT achieves a whole new level of power (136 hp) and torque (143 Nm) as the capacity increases from 1,170 cc to 1,254 cc. There is also significantly optimised refinement and running smoothness – especially within the lower engine speed range. The new engine also offers improved emission and fuel consumption levels as well as a particularly satisfying sound. For this purpose, BMW ShiftCam Technology has been used for the first time in the serial production of BMW

In terms of innovation for Riding Safety, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Antilock Braking System (ABS) Pro and Hill Start Control – which facilitates stopping and setting off on a slope – are available as standard for the new BMW R 1250 RT to adapt to individual rider preferences. Meanwhile, Riding Modes Pro where additional riding modes of Dynamic, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Start Control Pro and Dynamic Brake Assistant (DBC) are new offerings for the premium tourer. The Hill Start Control Pro can be individualised in a way that the parking brake is automatically activated on an incline when the hand or foot brake lever has been activated, shortly after the motorcycle comes to a standstill. The new BMW R 1250 RT also offers the Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) “Next Generation”, an electronic suspension which allows finely

Motorrad engines: this enables variation of the valve timings and valve stroke on the intake side. In addition, the intake camshafts are designed for asynchronous opening of the two intake valves, resulting in enhanced swirl of the fresh, incoming mixture and therefore more effective combustion. Other technical changes to the engine relate to the camshaft drive – now taken care of by a toothed chain (previously a roller chain) – an optimised oil supply, twin-jet injection valves and a new exhaust system.

tuned adaptation of the motorcycle to riding states, achieving optimum damping comfort and a very stable ride response. Different individualisation packages are also available for the New BMW R 1250 RT such as the Comfort package, Touring package, Dynamic package, and Lights package, each suited for the long journey, added riding pleasure, sporty adventures, or superior illumination. The new R 1250 RT embodies its exclusive touring character in three paint finishes – the Sport Style in dynamic Mars Red, Elegance Style in sleek Carbon Black and the classic variant in Alpine White for a timeless look.

HEARTBREAK FOR FABIO ChapterFour

Youngest Pole Sitter!

MARC MARQUEZ BACK ON TOP IN EUROPE

No fairy tale ending for Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo race as it ended prematurely, when a gear shifter problem forced the poleman to retire while in second position. Fabio Quartararo who became the youngest ever pole sitter in MotoGP history while teammate Franco Morbidelli rounds off an excellent team double with a sensational second position in qualifying but the fairy tale was a bittersweet one for Petronas Yamaha SRT. After riding for much of the race in the top three, Franco Morbidelli finished in 7th place. But objectives is met for Marc Marquez as he dashed to the lead from a front row start and lead all the way to win his 46th premier class win, and 72nd across all classes. The dominant ride saw the reigning World Champion cross the line 1.654 seconds ahead of second place Suzuki Ecstar, and last race winner Alex Rins, and that moves Marquez to the top of the championship table with 70 points, a point clear of second placed Rins. His 1’38.051 on Lap 15 of the race secured Marquez a new race lap record at the Jerez circuit.
