THE MALAYSIAN ADVENTURE
MOTORCYCLE TOUR OF MALAYSIA The destination for the 6th Givi Explorer tour has been set : July 20th/29th 2019 - Malaysia
PROGRAM
Malaysia: the name alone brings back memories from when, as kids, we were dreaming of the Orient, the warm waters of the South China Sea, sailing adventures filled with pirates, colonial mansions in Sarawak and crimson sunsets over the Strait of Malacca. Well, Malaysia is all that, and much more. To know Malaysia is to love Malaysia: a bubbling, bustling melting-pot of cultures and religions, where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live together in peace and harmony. Multiculturalism and biodiversity make Malaysia a natural paradise and a cultural and gastronomical destination, home to hundreds of colorful festivals. Nature reigns supreme over Malaysia: a Country that is as diverse geographically, as it is culturally. Tall mountains reach for the sky while their rainforest-clad slopes sweep down to immense floodplains, bustling with forest life, from cool, highaltitude hideaways, down to warm, sandy beaches and rich, humid mangroves. For the perfect adventure, full of surprises, the time is now; the place is Malaysia.
The GIVI Explorer will experience Malaysia in full. Starting from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur, they will first visit the headquarters and production units of GIVI Asia. From there they will ride to Ipoh, visit the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan and Kellie’s Castle. They will then visit the Belum rainforest and the manmade Tasik Temenggor lake, dotted with hundreds of islands. From the lush rainforest, the Explorers will then ferry over to the sandy beaches and crystalclear water of Taaras Beach on Redang Island. In the following days, there will be stops to see Malacca City and its treasures: A’Famosa Fort, St. Paul’s Church, The Stadthuys and Christ Church. On the 7th day of the 2019 GIVI Explorer Tour, the participants will experience a very unique event: a race in the heart of the jungle, called Rimba Raid. One of them will actually register to race it, while all the others will be part of the support team. After the Rimba Raid, the Explorers will continue their ride, heading to Genting Highlands in Kuala Lumpur. A total of 10 days with more than 2500km across one of the most exciting and magical

Enthralling the interests of bike enthusiasts at EICMA 2018, the ultimate road-legal Ducati race bike Panigale V4 R bagged the title of the ‘best-looking bike of EICMA 2018’. Born to Run, the bike constitutes the technical platform for the official Ducati Superbikes that will compete in the 2019 Superbike World Championship season. Fuelled by pure racing adrenaline, the Panigale V4 R is the maximum expression of Ducati’s racing DNA that accompanies the rider towards a dimension of advanced riding, made up of curves and straights that run incredibly fast. In this latest version of the superbike, its Desmosedici Stradale 1103 cm3 engine has been replaced with the 998
cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R engine to comply with displacement limits set by Superbike World Championship (WSBK) rules, offering extreme performance designed for the track. In fact, the Ducati Panigale V4 R is the most powerful factory motorcycle ever built by Ducati to date. The Ducati Panigale V4R was made for Malaysians who live for speed and the adrenaline rush. Designed to elicit a symphony of emotions, the bike also features a dry clutch which greatly improves ‘rider feel’ during braking and manoeuvring through the corners while prioritising the safety and ease of riding, regardless of the rider’s experience level.
Another impressive bike joining the 2019 line-up is the scene-stealer Ducati Diavel 1260 S which was exclusively introduced to the Desmo Riders Club Malaysia (DOCM) through a sneak preview event in May 2019. Unconventional, unique and absolutely unmistakable, the Diavel 1260 S stuns with its personality, design, sport naked handling and thoroughbred engine. Powerful, muscular, agile and effective between the curves for maximum riding enjoyment, the second-generation Diavel 1260 S combines the performance of a maxi-naked with the ergonomics of a muscle cruiser. The stunning new bike draws on its key styling element with a contemporary slant while offering more assertive outlines and higher performance perfect for Malaysian urbanites who love being at the centre of attention. Built around the Testastretta DVT 1262
engine, the bike is capable of delivering 159 hp at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm acceleration with a low-rev smoothness ideal for everyday riding or touring. The Diavel 1260 S is also equipped with an upgraded chassis set-up which makes the bike more responsive on mixedroad routes while top-drawer technology and electronics provide braking performance on par with that of a sport bike without compromising its safety with Bosch Cornering ABS and user-friendly engine performance control. Its sophisticated yet muscular design and state-of-the-art innovation also won the prestigious “Red Dot Award 2019: Best of the Best” title. Additionally, the sporty Diavel 1260 S features a fully adjustable Öhlins suspension at both front and rear dedicated wheels, and an even higherperformance braking system. It also mounts Ducati Quick Shift up & down (DQS) as standard to allow clutch-less shifting.

Embodying the roots of competition, motard style without sacrificing its sporty essence, the aggressive and fearless Hypermotard 950 is now racier, more adrenaline-packed and riderfriendly. Given a whole new look, the Ducati ‘fun bike’ takes its cue from the supermotard race world with completely overhauled ergonomics and an ultra-advanced chassis set-up and electronics package. The new Hypermotard was made for Malaysians who live life on the edge, fitted with a wide handlebar, narrow sides and is 4kg lighter than its predecessor for greater agility when changing directions. Powering the
Hypermotard 950 is a renewed 937 cm3 twin-cylinder Testastretta 11˚ with more muscle, greater pulling power and new electronics to ensure smoother control. Achieving 114 hp at 9,000 rpm and a flat torque curve peaking at 9.8 kgm at 7,250 rpm, the engine is perfect for ultimate on-track sports fun, twisting country roads and everyday urban roads alike. Prioritising the comfort of its rider, the superbike’s seat is ergonomically redesigned to feature a flat, extended profile with a moderate bulge in the passenger area to ensure smoother movement during riding.
Made for the adventurous rider with the passion for riding on off-road conditions, the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro expands the concept of adventure with new Ducati Testastretta DVT engine which ensures outstanding pulling power right from the low-to-mid rev range. The Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) system optimises performance and fluidity of delivery at all end speed levels. Achieving a torque of 4,000 rpm, the Multistrada 1260 Enduro is the motorcycle with the highest torque in its category. The powerful superbike also comes standard with Ducati Quick Shift Up & Down (DQS)
which allows the rider to shift gear without using the clutch for superior riding pleasure, greater ease handling off-road trails and a more relaxing ride in the city. For the peace of mind of the rider, the new Multistrada 1260 Enduro is equipped with the most advanced Ducati technology safety features including the Bosch Cornering ABS which maximizes active safety even when leaning into curves, Ducati Traction Control, Ride by Wire, Ducati Wheelie Control and semi-active Ducati Skyhook Suspensions (DSS) Evolution for unprecedented versatility.

n June 3, 2019, the FIM Race Helmet Approval (FRHP) Program came effect and issued a new rule for helmets used in MotoGP 2019. Helmets used by MotoGP riders must pass the ECE standard 22.05.
The helmets must pass homologation. The brands that pass the FRHP test are AGV, Airoh, Arai, Bell, HJC, Kabuto, MT, X-lite/Nolan, Skorpion, Shark and Shoei have all passed homologation testing so far, with only LS2, NHK, Suomy and KYT still yet to be accredited for this weekend’s race. The manufacturers have been required to submit ten helmets in each size that are used by their riders for independent testing at the Impact Laboratory of the Aragon Institute of Engineering Research, University of Zaragoza. The tests comprise of a series of destructive linear, oblique and penetration tests designed to ensure that they’re as safe as possible, after which brands are permitted to add a QR code label to the lining that can be scanned to confirm they have passed.
Suomy & KYT Helmet’s SRGP design is a new model for MotoGP which already passed first homologation standards ECE standard 22.05 and has been submitted to FIM for the FRHAP test and are new helmet being tested includes the size of the helmets being worn by the riders. LS2 Helmet is also another helmet manufacturer effected by FRHAP. Even AGV latest model Pista GP-RR has not gotten the FRHAP approval too. Once obtaining the homologationtesting label then the specific model and size can be used on the track.

The coaching is entertaining and focused. We’re split into groups that alternate between the classroom, track and debriefing with an instructor— a process that repeats with 5 different drills until day’s end. i-Moto The day begins with a riders meeting and staff introduction. Students came from as far away as the UK, Greece, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, India and Malaysia. Instructors are from Australia and New Zealand. California Superbike School’s reputation is literally world-renowned. After completing all four levels, my confidence was through the roof. The Ninja H2 was cracked with a smile once or twice and maybe more. CSS teaches you to relax and focus, especially when your mind wants to go into survival mode. The drills instill a deep understanding and importance of visual skills, body positioning, ideal traction, suspension sweet spot and choosing accurate lines. Equipped with all the right tools, you will accurately be able to dissect a corner. Did I nail a perfect lap? Not even close, but my technique are improving better than ever. Pointed out
my mistakes, and gave me pointers to eliminate the bad riding habit. So is it worth the time and money? Yes. Check your lap times at the door and be a factory student. Quality instruction lets you shed bad habits like tear-offs. While the self-taught route might be cheaper, investing in CSS lets you ride at your personal best sooner and safer. I learned more in four days of track riding than in the past 20 years of recreational riding. This is a must and the best back to school ride coaching experience is priceless! RC

IS CSS FOR YOU? CSS is for everybody on a motorcycle. Attendees at the 2017 California Superbike School included everyone to nervous racetrack first-timers to ex-national championship racers (Gabit) and many intermediate and experience, rider like myself. We will learn riding skills that is somewhat valuable, even if our riding goals were completely different. For some rider simply focused on being a better, safer rider and the school helps vastly in that area. In fact, almost everyone I asked said they'd love to return to CSS and indeed, many riders here are happy repeat students, no shame being a student all over again! Bikes in all shapes and sizes are welcome at CSS, the ideal scenario is to learn on the bike you would usually ride.
BODY POSTION
SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT
i-Moto DRILLS
HOW DOES IT WORK?
COACHES ON TRACK
LEVEL 1 Syllabus at CSS is split into four levels, each spread over one day. Each level seeks to improve aspects of riding in a particular area. Level 1 deals with the basics and focuses on throttle control, turning points, quick turning and more. CSS wants you to learn, not prove how fast you are, so most of the exercises over the weekend allow just one or two gears and often, no brakes. .
CLASSROOM THEORY
BIKES ARE CHECKED
LEVEL 2 Level 2 was less about the body and more the mind. Here, the rider is introduced to new ways of vision and taught to pick up reference points around the track. Higher speeds tend to create tunnel vision which causes you to tense or freeze up with fear. This is completely counterintuitive to going fast. To overcome this natural instinct, the school teaches you to work on peripheral vision which slows things down in the rider's mind. This keeps the rider calmer and thus more confident to stay on the gas just a little bit longer. On-track coaches help students out with any aspects they are struggling with.
i-Moto
LEVEL 3 At Level 3, things start to get strenuous on the body as we went through different drills on body position and how control over your body exercises control over the motorcycle. The transition in your riding from day 1 to day 2 even day 3-4 is incredible - everyone felt big improvements. In my case, these came in the form of a new-found level of smoothness with my knee skimming the tarmac in everyturn and getting faster in every corner. As for me im looking to complete my Level 3 which is about correct body position.
SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT
LEVEL 4 Level 4 however is custom designed based on the skills the individual wishes to develop using any of the 15 drills taught during the previous three levels. Plus, exclusively to level four, the on-track rider coach provides video footage for the off-track consultant to analyses and talk you through after each of the five on-track sessions.
SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT
i-Moto
WHY IS CSS SO GOOD? The answer lies in the quality of the coaching. Most, if not all the information dispersed at CSS, is already available on the Internet. The “magic is how well that information is taught at CSS. The coaching is truly world class and the on-track coaches have an uncanny ability to spot your mistakes on track as they follow you around. They help you fix these issues by discussing them in the pits and focusing on them in the next session. To get an idea of just how elite this school is head over to their website and you'll see that some of their more famous students have included Wayne Rainey, John Kocinski, Ben Spies, Leon Camier and many, many more. Being a coach at CSS is seriously hard work. We, students were split into three batches and each on-track coach was assigned three students from each batch, making a total of nine students per coach. While one batch is on track, the other two are in the pits, either recovering from their last session or sitting in the theory class for their next session. The coaches, however, don't get much of a break at all. They ride with one batch, return to the pits to address each of their three students and then get right back out with the next batch. So while the students run about five sessions on track per day, the coaches run 15. All this in Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and this time is full circuit, unlike the last CSS held in Sepang was only North Track Despite this, the coaches consistently catch mistakes you didn't even know
you were making and remember to look out for you and solve these issues in your next session. The entire process is just incredible! WHAT BIKE SHOULD I RIDE? The ideal scenario is to ride your own personal machine, whatever it may be. The goal at CSS is not just to learn how to ride fast but to ride better and safer. The speed comes as a natural byproduct. Learning on a machine that you are comfortable with and one that you intend to ride in the real world is ideal. However, if you absolutely cannot get your motorcycle to the racetrack, there is a brace of Rental bikes that you could get from us or directly from CSS on a first come first basis. CONCLUSION Good things don't come cheap and at USD1500 (RM6265) (SGD2052) for two days three-day weekend, CSS qualifies as a very good thing indeed! Yes, that is a very large sum of money but consider it an investment that will reward you over years of motorcycling. It is, however, worth remembering that CSS imparts a wealth of information in just two days. It is vital to note it down and practice all these lessons after the school to make them a part of your riding instinct. CSS will be back Sepang on the 5th and 6th of July 2019 and there is usually overwhelming demand for the limited number of seats. Personal and group registration can be done with us. We will rebate USD50 from our own pocket, so grab your seat NOW. Whatsapp +6018-356-0601 for more information.

I did the 2 days course (Levels 1 & 2) at Sepang International Circuit. I had been on a track before and riding a high-performance bike, so I didn't know what my capabilitys & expectations up to where ?I can say about how impressive the school was two solid days of instruction including five track sessions of each day. There was one riding coach for every three students in Level 1 & 2. There is almost no down time, you are either in the classroom, or on the bike, or on the off-track training. So, if you want to find a way to swing it, I would highly recommend the CSS.I want to give a special 'shout out' to my coach, Christian. Thanks for everything, You managed to teach an old dog several new tricks. Choong

"CSS was a great opportunity for me to empty my cup to learn track riding fundamentals from professional riding coaches. After leaving basic riding school years ago, there were not many opportunities available to me to further my understanding of how to ride on track better. CSS filled in this void with a very systematic approach, suitable for new riders like myself and more advanced riders alike with ample time for theory, practice, and review by the coaches. Overall, I'm very happy I attended CSS and am looking forward to the next CSS to attend Levels 3 & 4. Thank you to SBR for creating this opportunity, and I also owe i-Ride Clinic a great deal for providing me with important basic track riding skills in order to keep up to speed with what was taught at CSS. Looking forward to the next class!". Archie Teo

CSS Testimony/Review:
I attended California Superbike School this July in Sepang, having very high expectations. I was skeptical whether the rewards would justify the cost, but since it happened to be on my birthday, I was lucky enough to have this as a very generous gift! The word was that it is the best school of this sort in the world, and I must say; despite my very high expectations I was not disappointed in the least! It was both an eye opening experience as well as an absolute blast! The syllabus is broken down into bite size chunks and builds up in a very logical manner. Each session concentrates on one skill alone, which you get to test and apply on the track immediately after you leave the classroom. As the day progresses you find yourself realizing you're also polishing previous focus areas/exercises at the same time as the testing the new one, and after each session you get an immediate de-brief and feedback by the coach that is assigned for every 3 students, and follows you as well as demonstrates to you each skill on the track. Aside from the obvious skills in bike controls and vision, the theory is also designed to target your fear and natural reactions that hinder your riding and get in the way of applying these techniques. Overall, the school is very well organized with impeccable attention to safety. The entire team is there to complement each other in helping you understand and apply what they have to teach you. I finished my two day level 1 & 2 course feeling a vast improvement in my riding skill, confidence, as well as spontaneous inhelmet laughs! I could not recommend this course enough, it’s worth every penny and much, much more!

Moto Guzzi V85TT
GUZZI’S
FIRST CLASSIC
ENDURO
M
oto Guzzi Malaysia, through Didi Resources Sdn Bhd, the authorised importer and distributor of Moto Guzzi officially introduces its first Classic Enduro motorcycle, the V85TT. Almost a century of tradition, passion, and significant commercial and sporting success; almost a century of magnificent motorcycles all built in Mandello del Lario, combining the best technologies with first-rate Italian manufacturing techniques: Moto Guzzi values since 1921. Moto Guzzi V85 TT is created in keeping with this strong identity, skilfully balancing that classic, evocative style with cutting-edge technical equipment. The new Moto Guzzi reflects a construction philosophy in which simplicity, practicality and lightness make for an unfiltered relationship between motorcycle and rider. “In Malaysia we have perfect roads to travel within the country or crossing the
Mr Rewi Hamid Bugo, Chairman Didi Resources Sdn Bhd.
V85 TT is dedicated to adventurous trips, a long standing Moto Guzzi tradition, in their purest and most original form, the likes of which conjure up images of desert competitions such as the Paris-Dakar. The famous African race was at its peak as the 1980s dawned...
border to our neighbours, the V85TT suits the taste and demand of our bikers and we believe with this new classic endure will capture the hearts of both the young and old alike mentioned Mr Rewi Hamid Bugo, Chairman Didi Resources Sdn Bhd.
Taking centre stage was man, in his eternal struggle with nature and himself, on a journey to discover unexplored lands, alone, in complete harmony with his motorcycle. A compass, road book and watch were the only navigational tools with which to reach the final destination of Lac Rose, which remained just a dream for many. The goal was not just to compete, but to discover unique places, a value that V85 TT wants to reinstate.
In its travelling version, the V85 TT is a new and original proposal that combines stylistic features reminiscent of the golden age of motorbike adventures with the content and functionality of a modern touring enduro. V85 TT is dedicated to those who, while still dreaming of the Dakar, seek a motorcycle that can also inject adventurous spirit into the everyday journey.
i-Moto
The fundamental concepts at the heart of the V85 TT project are simplicity, ease and practicality, values typical of those 80s enduro bikes that could be used for anything, from the daily commute to adventurous trips, yet also values that are gradually getting lost in an increasingly homologated market, where ranges favour significant size and weight. Moto Guzzi V85 TT achieves its ambitious goal of combining a style based on said values with the needs of a modern touring enduro. It is for this reason that it deserves to be crowned the first classic enduro dedicated to touring. Its design combines technology and functionality, with typical Moto Guzzi traits to ensure durability. The desire for simple shapes is clear: with no kind of fairing, the V85 TT is defined by the lines of its tank, its side panels and the front mudguard, as well as its brand-new sculpted 90° V twin engine of course. Designed with proportions that are anything but prohibitive, accessible to riders of all sizes and experience, and narrow in girth to allow freedom of movement, the V85 TT ensures an optimal ride for rider and passanger
Comfort and usability are never compromised, for a motorcycle that is comfortable in two, even at full load. Air protection is ensured by a smoke Plexiglas windscreen, its shapes researched in the wind tunnel; the pair of handguards installed on the handlebar protect extremities against bad weather and the cold, helping to make the V85 TT the ideal companion in any season. The design of the 23-litre tank (able to guarantee mileage of over 400 km) harks back to the tradition of Moto Guzzi bikes kitted out for African raids and boasts some meticulously crafted details, such as the slots on the front section and the recesses just above the engine heads, which appear to be generated by the twin itself. Extensive research was carried out in defining the contact area with the seat, in order to ensure optimum riding comfort when seated and freedom of movement when standing during typical off-road riding. The seat is 830 mm from the ground, allowing feet to easily touch for optimum control when manoeuvring a stationary bike, also thanks to the compactness of the under body and an overall dry weight reduced to just 208 kg. The riding position is erect,
with relaxed back, legs that are barely flexed and correctly bent arms to effectively grip the wide variable section aluminium handlebars, for total control. Under the seat is a practical storage compartment. The high front mudguard and beautiful double front headlight are also in keeping with Moto Guzzi history, these stylish and functional solutions already present on the 1996 NTX 650 and the 1989 Quota 1000 respectively. Classic off-road style features (including fork stanchion protection, an exhaust system with high silencer and the aluminium engine sump guard) are combined with technologically cutting-edge elements, such as the digital instrument cluster and the series of LED lights on the headlamp with DRL that trace the shape of the Moto Guzzi eagle.
That Moto Guzzi ability to build superb chassis is once again confirmed with the V85 TT. Only the new Moto Guzzi can boast such a solid and precise front end as it enters a corner; only V85 TT is able to give the rider such a sense of control and safety while seeking excitement on the road. Much of this is down to the particular layout of the high resistance steel tubular frame, complete with beautiful rider footpeg support plates in die-cast aluminium (with removable rubber for off-road riding). As well as being completely new, it has no lower cradle, thus reducing weight while increasing engine clearance from the ground, essential when it comes to off-road riding. In pursuit of lightness, rationality and accessibility, it exploits the specific anchorage of the engine to create a rigid structure that restores precision and rigour on the road as well as robustness and the right feel for off-road riding. The rear part of the frame is designed to optimise load capacity and offer the passenger two wide and practical grab handles. A case can be mounted on the practical rear luggage rack, while optional panniers can be fastened to the sides, for significantly reduced lateral bulk.
Reduced longitudinal development of the new small block engine allows for a very long swingarm, for safe and intuitive riding. The new asymmetric unit in box-type aluminium features a curved left arm, for a very linear exhaust pipe design and a reduction of lateral bulk. The right arm of the swingarm houses the new shaft drive transmission. V85 TT is the only bike in its segment to use shaft drive transmission, prioritised over a chain drive
i-Moto
because it makes no mess and requires no maintenance. The single shock absorber with variable spring stiffness allows great progressivity, thanks to its inclined position too. Its lateral position facilitates access to the hydraulic and spring preload adjustments, thus allowing free space for the exhaust system layout,
allowing also the positioning of any side bags closer to the bike. The suspension offers very generous wheel travel (equal to 170 mm for both wheels) for satisfying off-road use, thanks also to significant engine ground clearance of 210 mm (the engine protected by an aluminium sump guard), while also ensuring comfort on the road. The fork (with 41 mm stanchions) and shock with separate tank are both adjustable in terms of shock preload and hydraulic rebound. The braking system is of superior quality, comprising a double 320 mm steel front disc with two radialmounted Brembo callipers with 4 opposed pistons, connected to the pump at the handlebar with metal trellis tubing. At the rear is a 260 mm steel floating calliper with 2 pistons. The unit is controlled by a multimap Continental ABS system that can be disabled for the more demanding off-road stretches. The spoked wheels mount 17 and 19 tyres (respectively 150/70-17 and 110/80-19), measurements that will also satisfy off-road enthusiasts. For the same reason, Moto Guzzi V85 TT is available with both high performance road-going Metzeler Tourance Next tyres and the more grooved Michelin Anakee Adventure tyres suitable for off-road use.
JANDA BAIK, PAHANG
i-Moto always offered excellent drive even at very low revs. This is the first Moto Guzzi small block engine that can easily reach 8000 rpm, an aspect that showcases its modern and exuberant nature. The crankcase is the fruit of a new design and is stiffer, in order to fulfil its new role as a stress-bearing element in the frame, introducing new frame connections and strengthening elements in the connection The V85 TT introduces a new Moto Guzzi engine. Its configuration mirrors that of all area between the two crankcase halves. It also features a port to check the oil level Moto Guzzi bikes in production today: an air-cooled transverse 90° V twin with OHV in the lower crankcase half. Lubrication involves a semi dry sump, with two distribution and two valves per cylinder, coaxial pumps, one tasked with oil the pride and tradition of the Mandello delivery and the other with recovery that Eagle. Engine capacity is 853 cc, thanks ensure excellent lubrication and do away to a bore to stroke ratio of 84 x 77 mm. with the need for an oil radiator, thus The most modern of all engines in the reducing the overall weight. The semi dry range, it can boast specific power of sump solution has all the advantages of almost 100 HP/litre. Thanks to its dry sump engines, without the complete new design and the use of disadvantage of the encumbrance of the materials generally destined for race external oil reservoir, since sump itself bikes, such as titanium, the new "eight carries out this function. The primary and a half" is able to deliver a maximum advantages are: less loss of power power of 80 HP, as well as an impressive because of friction due to the interaction maximum torque value of 80 Nm at 5,000 of the crank drive with the oil, lower rpm, with 90% of the torque already available at 3,750 rpm, in keeping with the maximum temperature reached by the oil and freedom of the bike to reach a greater tradition of the Mandello twin, which has
JANDA BAIK, PAHANG
lean or pitch angle without any lubrication problems, thereby allowing the reduction of the quantity of lubricant needed to ensure that the pump has correct draft in any situation. The oil circuit is entirely new, with one of the two pumps tasked with transferring the lubricant from the crank drive to the sump. The latter is reduced in size to increase ground clearance and allow for assembly of the protective aluminium under-sump. The whole crankshaft is new and, together with the piston rods, also new, allows for a reduction in weight of almost 30% with respect to other small block engines, upping throttle response speed while significantly reducing any vibration. The upper section of the twin engine is also totally new: in keeping with Moto Guzzi identity, OHV distribution with two valves
per cylinder is retained, though the system and materials used are all new. Cylinders are of reduced height, while new and efficient oil passages and a fastening system to the reinforced crankcase ensure robustness and reliability. The heads have new mix entry ducts and links. One of the stand-out aspects of a Moto Guzzi engine is its distribution, complete with new aluminium roller cams and rocker arm pushrods. The use of 42.5 mm titanium intake valves, which weigh about half of those in steel, has allowed for a much more radical angle over stroke, all to the benefit of torque and maximum power. Lighter pistons are used, with 20 mm pins, as well as new head and plug covers that differ in shape, while the generator has been boosted. Engine control makes use of a single 52 mm throttle body, while with multimap Ride-by-Wire throttle control, a solution that allows for delicate and scrupulous control of valve opening, not only optimising overall efficiency for a smooth, rich delivery, but also decreasing fuel consumption. The new Moto Guzzi engine is in fact very frugal in terms of consumption: it has few components that absorb power (OHV distribution is one of the most frugal in terms of power absorption) and has no cooling circuit pump or long drive chains or belts. Significant work has been done on the dogbox to make it more smooth and precise. The gearbox and clutch housing make for increased ground clearance; the dry clutch exploits a reinforcement disc under the clutch plate as well as a new, higher performance clutch disc; a triple ring system is also introduced for the first time: a type of synchronisation that reduces gear noise and gearbox play to a minimum, particularly that of first gear. The ratios are new. The gears gain flexible coupling, for even smoother final transmission at the PTO shaft, this too strengthened. Lastly, the swingarm housing zone has been stiffened and features bearings capable of withstanding high loads.
i-Moto
Final thoughts At the end of wet and rocky test the 90hp Classic Enduro fits its name tag.

Imagine when your wish came through…. And so my wish was to ride a Ninja H2 for California Superbike School……. And I so I got my wish!!!! ….. OMG! Yeah!! I had a few laps on a stock Ninja H2 and eight laps on a H2R, so……..!? I also had a couple of laps on Swing Ong’s Jetron Ninja H2. But it wasn’t a full trackday to understand the H2 in-depth its real riding character………………………..! So I really going to back to school on a H2! Darn. And Oh Yes! I have to mention the H2 I got is a 236 horsepower beast…… yeah! Back to school no just any school its California Superbike School.
Ok…. I took a self-challenge that I really, I mean really wanna go around Sepang Circuit really, really fast and I mean really fast but……..but in reality you have to be really safe too. Im a Trackday Junkie, who just love to enjoy my trackdays. Special thanks to Jack Lee the opportunity to review 236 bhp Ninja H2 at Sepang Circuit while attend California Superbike School.
i-Moto
Kawasaki got it right with not so complicated traction control set-up for the rider with just four settings to choose from (I used Mode 1 mostly), and a single step setting for engine brake reduction, it is all too easy to operate. As is the launch control, which has three modes to choose from. The quickshifter only shifts up, with no autoblip downshift.
No too much to learn aside from how to navigate the fantastic H2. The plan was collect after install Dynojet Power Commander 5 (PC5) from SC Premium, dyno it and of course swapping to Pirelli Supercorsa SC1 rear and SC2 front from the existing Rosso Corsa II.
i-Moto
sure speed junkies would love to have crack on the H2, plus the increase of HP! 236hp from the dyno reading at SC Premium Sunway. In addition, the suspension really precise so much feedback you can get out of the Supercorsa that can calm Jack’s “White Lightning” H2 in every turn at Sepang! I got a jumpstart as I hop on the H2 and got myself familiar with her 2 days before CSS, rode around through traffic was pretty easy to handle the 200kg++ beast. I’m surprised just how comfortable it is. It feels like a second-gen ZX-10R in a way, with a better upright riding position and a wider seat. As bulky as it looks, the H2 does not feel big when sitting on it. Everything is perfectly. A quick note, getting the H2 off the line is harder than it is on a sportsbike but once settled the H2 accelerates much quicker than the average superbike. And with the speed comes the fueling, I could only get 12-13 laps before the warning light comes popping.
The dash is pretty fantastic a change from ZX10R, now larger and readable not like the typical sportsbike unit. The tacho is huge and the digital LCD screen large. It shows speed, trip, boost, KTRC setting, gears and KQS on.
Topping out at 260km/h in 400 short meters and past the start finish line in Sepang is crazy, Im sure I could max out before I got 250 yard at turn one, 299km/h! I’ve ridden afew sub 190-200-horsepower bikes but none accelerate like this. It is the way the power builds, the way the torque is on tap, which gives the sense of ‘pull’. H2 only lose out to its sibling the 300bHp H2R. The sound of the supercharger is fantastic – plus the exhaust note of the Proformance fully system combine with AR Racing short cans are well, very, very,very….. loud! It looks like it would not get around a turn but the Ninja H2 is a very, very capable bike to corner. With similar geometry to the ZX-10R, the H2 has the handling performance of a sportsbike. The brakes are sensational despite 330mm rotors and the best monoblock Brembo calipers available, the brakes are not overkill. The frontend feel is fantastic on the H2, it really gives confidence and that makes the riding experience even better. The cornering ability of the bike is stunning.
i-Moto
They are pulling up a very heavy bike (a ZX-10R is 208kg wet on the scales, some 20kg less than the dry H2 weight), so are just right. The brilliant KYB forks are something special and a standout to me, equally as much as that acceleration. The forks have a completely different feel to my RSV4 Factory Ohlins. They are compliant; offer good spring support but on the brakes are sensational, particularly braking into a turn. The feel on offer from the front end is slight soft but brilliant. Stoppage power is precise as you can get. Trail braking precision and feel at its best combo with the mix KYB and Ohlins rear, makes the H2 almost the perfect bike to own, if you exclude out the fuel consumption. One way to Penang would cost RM100 in Ron97 just to get to Juru in 1hour 30min. On the streets the H2 is placid and smooth, although the throttle is a little choppy in traffic on some settings. Overall its a nice road bike and it handles brilliantly.
At Sepang where this bike truly feels at home, truly surprise and amaze me as I got more laps with her. I rode it for all the CSS drills and I wasn’t going at lightly throttle. The coaches was having a hard time to chase me! My coach Aaron and Bevan was full of praises that I could ride this H2 fast while picking up new riding skills at CSS! Just perfect for Level 3 & 4. Note the throttle is very sensitive, I had to throttle really gently to get the most smooth line out of the corners. The H2 is an insane but incredibly machine with good handling bike and the size of the machine is completely disguised by the sensational geometry, brakes and suspension. It can be thrown into a corner with aggression and steers fast and accurate both on and off the brakes. However trading for speed the White Lighting is a thirsty lady
In the turn the H2 sits on its side effortlessly with no sign of stand up and Change of direction is fast and direct, while great front end feel. Off turns there is support and compliance at the back is some very slight lag, which is electronic, outstanding. Just try not to carry bags that then it fires off like a cannon! The KTRAC are heavy, probably you will get some neck is brilliant and was popping all the way pain, if riding too long, but the H2 feels flat around Wakefield as I twisted the throttle and balanced whether on the gas, the open hard. I was stunned by the fantastic brakes, carrying rolling speed‌ it is track performance of the H2. planted and balanced.
At Sepang the H2 continue to surprise me. It handles more like a superbike than a hyperbike. The quickshift is smooth and accurate and clutch action also smooth and progressive. I did not touch the engine braking settings, I left it standard, and was happy with that. I’m always on mode 1. I figure if I am going to ride the fastest production bike in the world, I want to ride it as fast as it can. I head to the start line as soon as I get changed. For the first run I take off normally, just like I would from a set of lights on the road. I tuck down, short shift from first to second at 6000rpm, then from second to third at 8000rpm, and then I open it up in third. The tacho screams to 12,000rpm. I click up to fourth and the bike just keeps puling hard. I grab fifth at 10,000rpm and hold it flat before having to brake heavily. Phew. Man. This is quick…
I head back for another run. This time I launch harder. I shift at 10,000rpm to second. I do the same to third then fourth. I grab fifth briefly before braking very hard on the ABS. Holy shit. This is one fast bike… After another dozen laps, maxing out at around the 270-280km/h mark before having to brake, I head off to T2 to do some counter steering wheelies for the photos but the photographer wasn’t around that turn. I did a few gentle second gear counter steering wheelies – it is effortless, just open the throttle and do your corner transition basically.
I then have a bit of fun making speeding up around Sepang Circuit. The Ninja H2 lights up under acceleration in first gear, then spins through the next three gears, shredding the near new Supercorsa SCV1 tyre. Had use up my right side tyres as there are more right turn in Sepang and barely used the mid section of the tyre, I could ride all the way to Phuket and back and still have 50% left on the SCV1’s The Pirelli Supercorsa hooks up on the tarmac and the bike launches like nothing else. Head on the tank. Second gear and I can’t go full throttle as the front is lifting. Third gear it is still starting to come up. Surely it won’t in fourth so I snick fourth and snap the throttle to 100 pr cent. The front wheel launches skyward and I have to hit the rear brake while keeping the throttle on. I glance at the dash – 225km/h. On one wheel… heading to T10!
Surprisingly, this bike is not expensive. At RM168,000, it is on par with an up spec Ducati, MV or BMW. For what you are getting and the exclusivity of it, I would have expected to pay around RM150k happily… and RM300,000 for the H2R. What Kawasaki have done here is sacrifice profit to reach their faithful hardcore green blooded fans and make this bike within reach (yes it is a big reach but not impossible) to the average Joe. That is cool.
