François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events Razlan Razali, Sepang International Circuit CEO Susumu Yamashita, Mobilityland President Rezsö Bulcsu, FIM CCR Director 6th-8th December 2019 will mark the Endurance World Championship (EWC) arrival to Malaysia for the very first time, at Sepang International Circuit for the prestigious eight-hour race. The announcement at the 2018 Suzuka 8 Hour race, the race will become the qualifying round for endurance racing’s most prestigious race, that will bring full-factory teams into action not once but twice a year to Asia. Traditionally held only in Suzuka Japan. Sepang CEO Razlan Razali hinted that their new MotoGP team SIC Racing Team well join in the action Championship and Sepang as the qualifying race for line up on the grid, and also hope to attract top Suzuka riders to race in the Sepang 8 Hours.” The race will have the same format as the Suzuka 8 An exciting new era for the FIM Endurance World Hours, with a Superpole Top10 Trial and a finish after nightfall as Sepang has already upgraded the circuit with flood lights to cater for night racing. The Sepang 8 Hours will also be the first qualifying round for all the Southeast Asian and Japanese teams wishing to take part in the Suzuka 8 Hours. It means the finest Asian teams hoping to qualify for Suzuka will be on track in Malaysia together with the permanent FIM EWC teams, who will be invited to Sepang. The combination of Sepang and Suzuka, two iconic venues in Asia, will offer the FIM EWC bright new horizons.

The Yamaha R15 is set to hit the Malaysian streets with the introduction of the third generation R15 V3.0 While the first generations of R15 was first introduced to the Indonesia and Thailand markets sometime back, this version has many new upgrade which may consider as a new model. The V3 will be introduced with a new 155.1 cc, liquid cooled and fuel injected engine, with 19hp at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8500 rpm. The engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox while it will have slipper clutch to provide an even better track riding experience. R15 V3 also comes with full LED headlights, higher seat position and an all new design that’s inspired from the Yamaha R6 and R1M. Yamaha R15 also gets new alldigital instrument console and USD (Upside Down) front suspension.
For sure we will be looking at a higher price tag for this model but this R15 will be the favourite among new riders who are looking for lightweight performance motorcycle that can be ridden every day and even experience rider who may just want to ride in the go-cart tracks and have a lot of fun! Hong Leong Yamaha has announced that the new Yamaha R15 is priced at RM11,988 excluding insurance and roadtax and will be available at Yamaha dealers nationwide end of August 2018.

Suzuki unveiled the SV650X Café Racer, and it is powered by a 645cc 90° DOHC liquid-cooled V-twin engine with 56kW of power at 8500rpm and 64Nm of torque at 8100rpm. SV650X Café Racer has a trellis frame and large 290mm dual front disc brakes with Nissin ABS and 240mm rear brake disc. The cafe racer also features Suzuki Easy Start System. It engages the starter motor at a precisely timed preset interval to start with just a push of a button. The ECM checks the status and disengages the starter motor immediately after starting.

The all-new 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 will add more zing to the entry-level sportsbike segment. The new 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 uses 249cc, liquidcooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox. What's new is the power output. The new Ninja 250 will offer a whopping 39 horse power at 12,500rpm, equal to what the Ninja 300 currently offer, along with 23.5Nm of torque. The design front, the Ninja 250 looks similar to Ninja 400 that is racing in the World Super Sport 300. Ninja 250 looks way sharper and sportier than it ever did, particularly thanks to the twin headlamp setup. The rear looks like the ZX10R. The front turn indicators that are now integrated into the fairing, making for a cleaner look. On the whole, the new Ninja 250 is larger in size and appearance which makes it more appealing. Hot Wheels also celebrating its 50th Anniversary at Art of Speed 2018 with Dmitriy Shakhmatov, Global Hot Wheels Product Design Manager. Shakhmatov was travelling to Malaysia from the US as part of the Hot Wheels Southeast Asia Tour and holds a meet and greet at the event. He also unveiled the Car Culture 2019 designs made in collaboration with RWB Porsche as well as celebrating the life-sized RWB Porsche 911 which has been made into a Hot Wheels 50th Anniversary model. i-Moto The Gasket Alley of Petaling Jaya is one of the coolest chill out place for bikers and also lifestyle, with the first Ram Jam Festival 2018 does fit to the theme of this festival that happen last weekend, we had a preview along with the launch of the Moto Guzzi V7 Carbon , and Museum Moto displayed many rare bikes that has been restored to its original condition. A pool of local talents comprising the talents of music, fashion, art, and photography also graced the RAM JAM at the Gasket Alley with the All American theme and settings of 1960’s America, with displays of Chevrolet and Corvette and of course, Hotdogs!
This vintage carnival idea makes the Ram Jam Festival very unique as it brings back memories of the post-retro All American feel right to the menu of Makhan which has been specially designed just for the RAM JAM Festival and transformed Mahkan to look like a classic all American Diner serving Hotdogs and fries. The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 features an updated fascia with new headlight design, chin-spoilers below the twin illuminators, a revised fairing, a redesigned 14-litre fuel tank, Ninja ZX-10R inspired tail-light and updated body panels. Lighting the road ahead are the pair of LED headlights which are now becoming quite common in the entry-level performance motorcycle segment.
Displacing 249 cm3, the new engine delivers significantly increased performance compared to its predecessor: Ninja 250 (+5 kW vs the 2017 Ninja 250). The higher performance can largely be credited to the new downdraft intake, which is accompanied by a larger airbox offering increased intake efficiency. The increased performance is complemented by a riderfriendly character; the smooth response and abundant low-end torque facilitate throttle control for new and experienced riders alike.
Designing the engine from scratch allowed the engine layout to be optimised for size, weight and efficiency. The new unit is comparable in size to that of the 2013-2017 Ninja 250. Numerous weight reduction efforts keep weight to a minimum. A clean design trimmed of any unnecessary items, and a revamped layout enable a slim engine and a cooling system with minimised external piping.
More compact clutch(ø139 mm >> ø125 mm) with less rigid operating plates offers a 20% lighter lever pull. Complementing the extremely light feel at the lever, the new clutch has a wider engagement range, facilitating control.
A cover for the radiator fan directs engine heat away from the rider, contributing to rider comfort. With the new design (patent pending), hot air is now mostly routed out to the sides (through holes in the fairing).
Offering considerable weight savings compared to its predecessor, the new chassis delivers a balance of stability and light, easy manoeuvrability. Its slim design facilitates both control and ease of riding, making the Ninja 250 an easy choice for both new and experienced riders.
Relaxed rider triangle accommodates a wide range of rider sizes and riding situations. Compared to some other models (whose somewhat extreme riding position compromises comfort), the elevated handle position and slightly foot- forward footpeg position put the rider in a position to control the bike while also offering rider comfort.

The engine is rigidmounted and used as a stressed member. The new frame design contributes significantly to the bike’s low curb mass.
Rigid ø41 mm telescopic fork delivers better suspension action. The front wheel feels really planted, direction changes are made easily (even when the bike is fairly upright – handy when navigating traffic jams), and overall the suspension offers the plushness of a larger displacement bike. Thanks to the increased rigidity of the bigger fork, the
front fender brace could be eliminated, saving weight. Steeper caster angle contributes to light, nimble handling. Revised linkage ratios and rear suspension settings contribute to the high-quality ride feel. At the rear 5-way preload adjustability lets riders adjust the stiffness and ride height to suit body weight or when riding two-up. The shock is easily adjustable with the on-board tool kit.
The Ninja 250 is equipped with sophisticated instrument design features a large analogue tachometer flanked by warning lamps on one side, and a gear position indicator and multi-function LCD screen on the other. Gear position indicator increases shifting precision and confidence, while also lending to the Ninja 250’s sporty image. The thrill of racing at night is an exciting prospect for some petrol heads. The smell of burning rubber and approaching the corners at night give different depths to racing.
Hence, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) has taken the initiative to install lights all around the circuit to enable track time and racing at night. SIC has ushered in a new era in racing at the famed 5.543km circuit with the installation of the lights. Since its opening in 1999, SIC has been the crown jewel of Malaysian motorsports as it plays host to marquee events like the Formula 1 and the MotoGP. SIC is the first modern Formula 1 circuit in the world, and although many new circuits have emerged around the globe since, SIC is still regarded as one of the best for pure racing. And tonight’s launch of the Circuit Lights will further elevate SIC as one of the very few circuits in the world that can host night racing The historic launch of the night lights was done by none other than the man who launched SIC himself, Prime Minister YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad. The Premier was also one the first to experience driving around the track in a Ferrari 430 to get a feel of the fully-lit track.

“It’s an honour to have Tun officiating the night lights today,” said Tan Sri Azman Yahya, Chairman of SIC. “Tun Dr Mahathir launched SIC back in 1999 and that was the start of the development of Malaysian motorsports until what it has become today. After 19 years, Tun Dr Mahathir is back to officiate another milestone at the iconic circuit.”
As SIC has been fully booked at an average of 98% a year for the past couple of years, the initiative to install the circuit lights serve two main purposes – firstly to allow SIC to sell more track time as demand for track time especially on weekends is extremely high. Secondly, to allow for night racing which will be very popular here in Malaysia.

“We saw that the only opportunity for us to increase track bookings is through opening the track at night, thus we have decided to make it accessible by installing lights all around the track,” added Tan Sri Azman. “We have engaged a specialist that has the expertise with circuit lighting and they were also responsible for installing lights at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, Losail International Circuit in Qatar, Jukasa Speedway in Canada and Bahrain International Circuit amongst others. They were also responsible for the lighting at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil for the KL SEA Games last year.” Rigorous test sessions were conducted late last year to determine the suitable lux level – between 70 and 150 lux. The lux level determined is suitable for night track days and racing. However, it will not meet the requirements of Formula 1 or MotoGP events which require higher lux level for broadcasting purposes. The Circuit Lights consist of 64 light poles, measuring a minimum of 17m to 43m, with a consistent illumination power of 150 lux throughout the circuit. The position of the poles and the lights were designed that all part of the circuit has the same illumination intensity.

This is very important especially for motorbike riders so that they can judge the braking zone, cornering apex and acceleration zone perfectly. The design and location of the poles have been approved by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and International Automobile Federation (FIA). “I believe this initiative, besides doubling the hours of track time available for booking, will give a new experience to those who are accustomed of having track days at our circuit when the sun is still up,” added Tan Sri Azman. Bookings for night events started with the first four-wheel event on 7th July 2018. Year to date, the night track bookings are 10% ahead of its target. SIC foresee high take-ups from their current partners and club users to experience driving and riding at night. With the initiative of lighting the circuit at night, this will continue to propel SIC’s business sustainability and open up a new dimension to track experience.

The Yamaha YZF-R15, is one of the popular entry level sports bikes in Southeast Asia, has finally made its arrival to Malaysia, and now has arrived with its third generation model, packed with its styling and racing DNA of its bigger siblings, the R6 and R1 and of course has the spirit of YAMAHA MotoGP factory bike. Under the wave of YAMAHA's R-DNA transformation, the YZF series has a factory-like appearance. Of course, the R15 is no exception. Compared with the previous generation models, the R15 has a big change in appearance. In the past, the design of the double eagle eye headlights changed to LED lights, and shows a sharper and more stunning race appearance. The center has a similar Ram-Air air intake shape, looks quite like the YZF-R6. Right from the front with the lightweight aluminium alloy wheels, combined with the inverted fork front forks (USD) while lower position of the handlebars that makes the riding triangle to a more racy but comfortable. The front tires are also upgraded to 100/80-17 size and the rear 140/70-17 size, further improve the sport performance of the R15. At the rear the R15 has a short and similar tail end like the R1M. With a all new Blue Core engine 155cc SOHC, VVA variable valve mechanism and a newly designed exhaust system, it produces 20 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.7Nm at 8,500 rpm, surpassing all 150cc bikes. Malaysia has yet seen any rivals in the same class with exception of mopeds with 150cc and Yamaha
own age old FZ150. With the new 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, it can be said that it is a total new model and not a FZ150 upgrade nor facelift. An office dispatch boy story! For most of us dispatch boys and who just started working for about 3 months, usually I’m almost broke by the end of the month and I need to service my bike after running on the job errant, I’m also usually short of cash to pay for petrol while waiting for my mileage and petrol claims. Muhammad Helmi Azman of SCK Rapido Hi Rev Honda Racing continued his sizzling form in Round 2 of the Malaysia Superbike Championship (MSBK); winning his second race for the weekend in the Supersport category and upstaging the more celebrated Malaysia’s Moto3 rider, Muhammad Adam Norrodin. Starting from pole, Helmi again had a perfect start before setting off in a blistering pace to win the 12-lap contest unchallenged to the chequered flag in 26 minutes 44.840 seconds with Adam and New Zealander Liam Taylor MacDonald finishing second and third respectively. Adam, who is currently on MotoGP summer break and taking part in keeping fit for his next race in Brno next weekend, is satisfied with his first-time experience competing on a Supersport machine and is looking for more competitions on the 600cc machine. “I am pleased. I am not here for results; but more on building my stamina for my next race in Brno. The bike I am using is no match to the one used by Helmi actually. Adam, who was also second in Race 1 yesterday. Starting from fifth, Adam started well to move third in the opening lap; but was caught in a tense battle for second with MacDonald for a few laps; before managing to make a smooth maneuver to pass the New Zealand rider. Helmi is also currently leading the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) underbone 150cc class.

Former Moto2 rider and ARRC champion, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of Chia PJ Kawasaki was in awesome form winning Race 1 with a massive 20.035 seconds over second-placed Rajini Krishan of India in a 12-lap contest for the Superbike Championship. Switzerland’s Johanathan Serrapica was a further 13.015 seconds in third place and Race 2 was even massive with 22.074 seconds ahead of Amirul Hafiq, who clocked 26 minutes 35.345 seconds. The Ajo KTM Team rider leapt from 10th on the grid to sixth on the first lap, and then formed a breakaway trio out front with Mir and Luca Marini.. “First of all, I want to say thank you very much to my crew, because they made a really good job on my setting. We came back in FP4 after we went a bit in the wrong direction in FP3. I felt like in the beginning of the season and honestly, I think this track is really tricky, but I scored very strong points. I could stay with the group of Johann, but then suddenly the rear tyre had a big drop. I tried to understand and manage as good as possible, this is part of my learning experience. Eleventh was the best I could get at the moment. I tried to come back stronger after some difficult rounds and now we are best rookie again before the summer break. I try to keep my physical condition consistent, try to train hard in the break and don’t lose the focus, because I want the Rookie of the Year title.”

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herlings is the ultimate professional. Great with his sponsors, the media and his fans it is little surprise that his fan base is growing fast. A winner worldwide, on any track and under any conditions. Most people believe the Flying Dutchman to be the best rider in the World at the moment, and it is hard to argue that point. Something that has really given Herlings a lot of pleasure is racing in countries like Indonesia, Argentina and USA, and in the next couple of months he might head to America to race for his country, Holland, in the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. His fan base in Indonesia is rather surprising, and even while on holidays in Bali after the second Indonesian GP, I was asked a few times, by locals, what my opinion was of Jeffrey Herlings. So wellknown is the three-time motocross world champion. It is also something that hasn’t gotten lost to the Dutch rider. “I think it is really good (how well MXGP is known in Asia),” Herlings said. “ Youthstream and the Luongo family are running it. Youthstream are doing a really good job with the championship and it is always growing. Obviously, it is a big calendar with 20 races and it’s hard for some teams to make all the
rounds, but if you look how big the sport has gotten since Giuseppe and Youthstream, it’s just amazing. If you look at the World scene, how it’s developed, it’s simply been growing every year and getting bigger and bigger, but if you look at the main thing, it’s making the sport awesome and they are doing a really good job.” Herlings also knows that his current team, the Red Bull KTM Factory team are working just as hard as Youthstream to continue to improve the sport and break barriers Worldwide. “I think KTM is really strong, look at MXGP and MX2 here. I have a contract until the end of 2020, and they have an option on me for 2021. The rumours that I’m negotiating with other manufacturers are not true. I am super happy with KTM and have been there for 10 years and they are like family, guys like Pit I mean. I can tell you for sure the next three years I am with them, and it would be hard to leave them.” So now Herlings will head to Lommel, Belgium, a place a lot closer to home than Indonesia, and his fan base of course a lot bigger. 23-year-old Jeffrey Herlings continues to do things nobody expected. After breaking his collarbone a month ago, it was expected he would limp through the two rounds in Indonesia and head to Loket in the Czech Republic without the red plate. Instead he went 2-1-1-1 and extended his lead over Antonio Cairoli to 24 points. The tough Dutchman was as surprised as anyone to take two more Grand Prix victories, and make it 77 GP wins in his career, but no doubt his mental approach and determined mentality got him home. Flying home to Holland on Sunday night there is no doubt the three time World MX2 champion was smiling ear to ear. “It is awesome” Herlings said. “I never expected to win, crashing before Ottobiano, and when I saw I had a bad crack and I had surgery and before Indonesia I couldn’t even lift my arm, I wasn’t sure if I could race, but I went home with 97 points and it’s a dream come true. We didn’t lose points but gained some. It wasn’t my normal speed or normal Jeffrey Herlings, but I hadn’t ridden for nearly a month. I am looking forward to Loket, it isn’t my favourite track, but it’s a nice atmosphere. I go to the doctor and see if my collarbone is okay and I didn’t bend the plate. I want to train again, and we have a Dutch race next weekend, but first I need to

see if the plate is okay. Going 1-1-1 for the Saturday and Sunday in Semarang last weekend, really boosted the Red Bull KTM Factory rider’s confidence and knowing he can handle his rivals even with a major injury must give him a lot of joy heading into Loket in 10 days’ time. “I don't think we could have dreamt of these results. We came to Indonesia totally unprepared but to go 2-1 last week and then even better today – with the Qualification Heat and both races – is absolutely awesome. We couldn't have wished for anything better. As I said, this is not the ‘normal’ Jeffrey Herlings yet but to leave Indonesia with two GP wins is a blessing. Red Bull KTM have done such an incredible job and I loved spending all this time with them. The team gave me a perfect bike and I would not be winning without them.” So now let’s see what Herlings can do around the rock-hard Loket circuit, a circuit he has enjoyed good results, but for sure not a circuit like Lommel (the following round), where he is expecting to win easily. As far as his toughness, it might take a rifle to stop the Dutchman from taking his fourth Motocross World Championship in 2018, because at the moment, he is seemingly unbeatable.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jonny Walker has finished third at the 2018 Red Bull Romaniacs – round four of the World Enduro Super Series – to retain his position at the top of the championship standings. KTM rider Manuel Lettenbichler finished as runner-up in what was a truly gruelling event. The 15th running of the ‘world’s toughest hard enduro rallye’ was held in extremely difficult conditions following heavy rainfall, both during the run-up to the event and during the early stages of the race. With an already challenging course becoming even more tricky, the race tested all riders to their maximum. The traditional prologue held on the streets of Sibiu threw up the usual array of man-made obstacles, boardwalks and water hazards. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Taddy Blazusiak fought his way through to claim third, closely followed by Lettenbichler and team-mate Walker. With the results of the prologue deciding the start order for Off Road Day 1, it was Blazusiak who set off first into the wilderness of the very wet Carpathian Mountains. An early mistake caused the former Endurocross champion to crash and injure his shoulder. It was then Germany’s Lettenbichler, South African Wade Young and Jonny Walker who would lead the Gold class riders to the finish. Walker placed as runner-up on Off Road Day 2 after close to six hours of riding, with Lettenbichler third.
On day three, those results were reversed with Walker troubled by an injury to his knee yet still placing third, 30 minutes ahead of the fourth placed rider. With most riders declaring the event as the toughest in its 15-year history, skill and stamina separated the elite from the rest of the Gold class competitors. On the fourth and final day, competitors faced another long stage – the leaders taking approximately five hours to complete the route before attacking the famous final hill at the finish near Sibiu. With only seconds separating Young and Lettenbichler right up to the final few checkpoints, and with Walker just minutes behind in third, there was everything to play for. Manuel ultimately won the day, but his time wasn’t quite enough to take the overall win. Walker cleaned the final hill to claim third for the day and secure third in the overall results, earning himself valuable WESS championship points to retain his series lead.
