The searched for a replacement rider for Kenan Sofuoglu was rewarded with Hector Barbera joining the team. Hector comes from a higher level after riding for 15 consecutive seasons in the FIM Road Racing World Championship; eight of them in the MotoGP class. It will not be easy since he will have to begin his experience on board the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R on three new race tracks for him - Portimao, Magny Cours and El Villicum.

In 250GPs in 2005 four career wins - and a vicechampion position in 2009 – led to a promotion to the MotoGP class in 2010. He came close to scoring a podium in the biggest class of all and qualified on the front row at the Sachsenring as recently as 2016. Earlier this year, Hector had competed in Moto2 for the first time, and now he makes a new step into the future with the most successful manufacturer and team in recent WorldSSP history.

Spanish star Hector Barbera will join the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing WorldSSP team for the remainder of Hector Barbera, stated: “I am really motivated and the 2018 season as a replacement for the recently eager to get out on track again and I am lucky to be retired five-time World Champion Kenan Sofuoglu. able to count on the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing team. I was able to visit their headquarters and I saw with Barbera will join the team on track for the first time my eyes how the team is well organised and I know at Imola at the end of the month and will race for they are a winning team. Manuel is giving me a huge WorldSSP points the first time at the ninth round of opportunity and I would like to pay him back with the championship at Portimao in Portugal. good results. I want to win and I am training hard for this. I am happy. Both the team and I are in the same Barbera is a name that needs no introduction in condition. We are really experienced and we have all global racing of any kind, as Hector has raced in the the potential to do well. I would like to thank Manuel MotoGP paddock since 2002, starting in the 125cc and Kawasaki for having put me in a situation to find GP class. In that same season he won his domestic my confidence again at a such an important moment CEV 125 Championship. Winning his first 125 GPs in for me.” 2003, he would win six races in all and finish runnerup in 2004.

The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 250 features an updated fascia with new headlight design, chin-spoilers below the twin illuminators, a revised fairing, a redesigned 14-litre fuel tank, Ninja ZX-10R inspired tail-light and updated body panels. Lighting the road ahead are the pair of LED headlights which are now becoming quite common in the entry-level performance motorcycle segment.

i-Moto

A few weeks ago Kawasaki Malaysia launched the 2018 Ninja 250 at the Art of Speed. This weekend we got to review the new 39 hp Ninja and the question is “Do we like it?” The Answer is “YES”. The power has increased has made the Ninja feel more complete and stable at speed. Any new riders will have plenty of room to grow without overwhelming themselves and look for a bigger bike once their skill improves. The 249cc liquid-cooled, 4stroke Parallel Twin, DOHC, 8 valves which give a 39hp @ 12,500 rpm also allow the more experienced rider who is looking for a fun bike to ride around with better engine power, brakes, suspension, and handling and that is an awesome advantage for new riders and veterans alike. The Ninja is as close to the line of “beginner bike” as possible without crossing it but Kawasaki managed to

build a bike that is a suitable ride for pretty much anyone plus the aggressive looking Ninja is inspired by the one-litre siblings, the H2 and ZX-10R. Rear lights are almost identical to ZX-10R. If I can have fun with this Ninja, I'm positively sure, anyone can too! Don’t think about the capacity of the quarterlitre but how good this bike is a motorcycle, whether you’re a new rider or an experienced rider who just wanna burn some rubber on the tracks. This is the bike! For short and tight corners the Ninja, handling is superb but at high-speed corners, the front 41mm telescopic fork feels light and I got a few wobbles on some bumpy high-speed corner on our Ulu Yam route. But these wobbles can be easily fixed by adding a damper. But serious thinking to Kawasaki engineers they should start equipping the Ninja 250 with upside down front forks. (inverted).

i-Moto Designing the engine from scratch allowed the engine layout to be optimised for size, weight and efficiency. The new unit is comparable in size to that of the 2013-2017 Ninja 250. Numerous weight reduction efforts keep weight to a minimum. A clean design trimmed of any unnecessary items, and a revamped layout enable a slim engine and a cooling system with minimised external piping. At the rear comes with Uni-TrakÂŽ monoshock suspension with 5-way preload adjustment Brakes work superbly too, as I nearly hit an old couple who was riding a moped weaving through traffic and got right in my path when I was riding between cars! The front Nissin single semi-floating 310 mm petal discs provided a superb bite to ensure no drama with the old couple, at the traffic light the old man even gave me the thumb up for braking in time while the old lady had a relive expression on her face when nothing happened! Rear brakes also Nissin single 220 mm petal disc. Overall the Ninja 250 has a body length of 1,990 mm while the width is 710 mm and reaches 1,120 mm. The weight is only 167 kg, (172kg) so the acceleration capability is maximised and easier to manoeuvre while the seating height of

785 mm gives a more sporty position and ground clearance of 140 mm, even short riders and ladies will not be tippy toes! The front tires are fitted with Dunlops ArrowMax GT601 110/70-17 and rear 140/60-17 provides better grip than the previous generation which is fitted with IRC RoadWinner.

Offering considerable weight savings compared to its predecessor, the new chassis delivers a balance of stability and light, easy manoeuvrability. Its slim design facilitates both control and ease of riding, making the Ninja 250 an easy choice for both new and experienced riders.

The Ninja 250 features a trellis frame similar in design to that of the Ninja H2. Kawasaki’s advanced dynamic rigidity analysis was used to ensure optimum rigidity with light weight. The engine is rigid-mounted and used as a stressed member. The new frame design contributes significantly to the bike’s low curb mass.

More compact clutch(ø139 mm >> ø125 mm) with less rigid operating plates offers a 20% lighter lever pull. Complementing the extremely light feel at the lever, the new clutch has a wider engagement range, facilitating control.

The Ninja 250 is equipped with sophisticated instrument design features a large analogue tachometer flanked by warning lamps on one side, and a gear position indicator and multi-

position indicator increases shifting precision and confidence, while also lending to the Ninja 250’s sporty image. LCD screen features a negative display adding to the instrument

Measuring ø310 mm (the same disc size used on the Ninja ZX-14R), the Ninja 250’s semi-floating front disc offers sure stopping power. A rigid Nissin front brake master cylinder helps eliminate ineffective (idle) stroke,

contributing to controllability, while carefully selected brake hose dimensions and material contribute to brake touch. At the rear a ø220 mm petal disc is slowed by Nissin dual-piston caliper

The front tires are fitted with Dunlops ArrowMax GT601 110/70-17 and rear 140/60-17 provides better grip than the previous generation which is fitted with IRC RoadWinner.

Ninja ZX-10R inspired tail-light and updated body panels. The new fascia is inline with the styling cues of Kawasaki Ninja 250’s litre-class siblings. The 2018 Kawasaki Ninja also features fairing integrated front blinkers

Rigid ø41 mm telescopic fork delivers better suspension action. The front wheel feels really planted, direction changes are made easily (even when the bike is fairly upright – handy when navigating traffic jams), and overall the suspension offers the plushness of a larger displacement bike. Thanks to the increased rigidity of the bigger fork, the front fender brace could be eliminated,

saving weight. Steeper caster angle contributes to light, nimble handling. Revised linkage ratios and rear suspension settings contribute to the high-quality ride feel. At the rear 5-way preload adjustability lets riders adjust the stiffness and ride height to suit body weight or when riding two-up. The shock is easily adjustable with the on-board tool kit.

Reminisce of my old 2013 Ninja , the 3rd generation 250 gets a 8.5/10 from us, a bike I would buy for daily communing plus a fun weekend fun on the go-kart circuit to burn up some

calories, wont go wrong with this Ninja, add on a full system exhaust and a steering damper this nimble Ninja will terrorist the corners! An affordable fun bike @ RM21,070 excluding road tax & insurance !

BEST TYRE MILEAGE SO FAR OVER 21,000KM UNTIL WE SAW THE STEEL WIRE OF THE TYRE CARCASS Mid-June last year I installed a set of Pirelli Rosso 3’s for my MT-09. I’ve now had them for well over thirteen months and covered more than 20,000kms including 5 trackdays and 8 times to Penang and one time ride cross border to Phuket Bike Week. You know what that means, review time! Here’s the full review about the tyres, they are Pirelli’s sports tyre. They aren’t a full on sports tyre like the SuperCorsa’s, they are more street focused. After having them for a while I can say that they are suited to hard street riding, commuting and a medium paced track day. My initial thoughts on the tyre is they are very sticky. Having owned the Rosso 2’s and most of the time on SuperCorsa, but never last over 3000km mileage. Tyre carcass So the Rosso 3 definitely have a sportier compound and last longer, I really mean long. I can pretty well stick my finger nail straight into the rubber and leave an indentation. What’s been most surprising though is how well they’ve worn and how the Rosso 3 handles in the wet roads.

PRETTY ROUNDED STILL BUT TOO MUCH HIGHWAY TRAVELLING

NO CHICKEN STRIPS Even the Rosso 3 does slide abit have no issue over leaning in mid compare to SuperCorsa, but you corner and making corrections, but will never get any surprises, and asof course it wont get the absolute it’s a little taller at the side wall feel and performance of a especially the front, it is slower to SuperCorsa. But warm up time is tip in but they stick pretty well, I pretty fast.

i-Moto

TALLER FRONT STILL HAVE CHICKEN STRIPS FRONT PATCH STILL HAVE A LOT MORE CONTACT PATCH Rides to Gotong Jaya via Ulu Yam, I definitely felt comfortable while pushing hard in corners with the Rosso 3, without holding anything back through the corners. This is the type of riding where the Rosso 3’s are perfect. They perform well when you get to the twisty hills and curvy roads, but most importantly they won’t chew out on the way there. My riding with the Rosso 3’s has consisted of riding to and from work, meeting 40-60km away, short hilly blasts, day rides, up and down to KL-Penang-KL and to Phuket, Thailand. Quick note that my commutes are never slow as I ride pretty fast and spirited throttles and luckily my tyre wear don’t square off as I prefer blasting through corners too. I believe the Rosso 3’s are all you’ll ever need for the road unless you want a bit more wank factor or are regularly hitting the track. In that case I’d definitely go with something along the lines of the Supercorsa’s. But through supergrippy the never last the distance as Rosso 3, I may have change 4 rear set of Supercorsa and 2 fronts if I had the same mileage as I have on the Rosso 3’s .

FRONT STILL LEFT 60% GOOD TO GO FOR ANOTHER REAR I always get caught out in the wet regularly while travelling KLPenang-KL and the tyres have been fine and I able to hit 135150km/h even with heavy down pour and hardly feel the rain water puddle giving me the wash out sensation. I feel safe and confidant even when I push the throttle even in the wet. (Straightline ya! not in wet corners) but at normal road pace they are super solid, and mileage is certainly better than a track focused tyre. I definitely recommend to riders

who want to change from stock tyres and those who does daily and long rides, plus a little fun trackdays. Rosso 3 are bloody good tyres, grippy and it bloody last too! Ones set front & rear approximately RM1200-RM1350

The Land of Joy is now bigger and better! Having ridden the Sixty Two, Icon, FullThrottle, CafĂŠ Racer, Desert Sled and now the Special, the Scrambler Ducati Special takes the series to a new level with a beefier 1,079 capacity L-Twin engine, and electronics is one of the three Scrambler 1100 variants that was recently launched at Art of Speed 2018. So what makes the Special so special? Inspired by its classic roots, the Retrostatic Special now comes with the modern-day character of black spoke rims, aluminium mudguard, aluminium tank side panel, two silencers merge smoothly with the rear that gives the Special a more muscular, chrome exhausts, 3 Riding Modes; Active (Sports), Journey (Standard) and City (Rain), Bosch 9.1 MP Cornering ABS to ensure safety whatever the situation. Ducati Traction Control (DTC) completes the electronic package, even can set the engine braking level. All these electronics derive from the sports model siblings! The first impression of the Special looks bulky and heavy, but after riding her for a few hours, the weight of the Special no longer felt. The Special is heavier by 5kgs compare to the other variant, Sports and Standard, because of the spoke rims.

After a few days with the Ducati Scrambler 1100, I got more and more feel for her, the more I ride the more I feel the freedom and the lifestyle the Scrambler stands for. Im sure the Scrambler will meet the need even for the most experienced riders and newbie alike. Excellent power in the mid-range coupled with great handling even with the knobby fitted Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres gives pretty confident cornering. Adding the Bosch

Cornering ABS and Traction Control these two features go hand-in-hand to ensure riding through the twisty hills is as comfortable and while safety is maximised. The test bike that we had was the “Custom Grey” colour which is unique to this version and a brown seat with Ducati an embroidered Ducati logo at the rear make this seat particularly eye-catching and matches the bike’s colour.

i-Moto

Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special is equipment with o Steel teardrop fuel tank with interchangeable aluminium side panels o Low seat (810 mm) for perfect at-standstill manoeuvrability o Wide handlebars for a more relaxed riding position o Round headlight with glass lens and DRL o Diffused LED tail light o Dual-element LCD instrument panel o 1,079 cm³ air-cooled L-twin engine o Machine-finished aluminium belt covers o Twin spar steel Trellis frame and aluminium subframe o Double sided swingarm o Aluminium Black Spoke rims, 18″ at the front and 17″ at the rear o Enduro-derived Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres optimised for the Ducati Scrambler o Bosch Cornering ABS o Traction Control o 3 Riding Modes (Active, Journey and City) o Under-seat USB socket to recharge mobile devices Colours o “Custom Grey” with black frame and black spoked wheels. o Machine-finished aluminium belt covers o Adjustable fork and shock o Dedicated seat lining o Chrome exhaust pipes

All this makes the Scrambler model immediately recognisable. The distinctive Scrambler 1100 feature is the round headlight. This retains the glass parabola shared by all Ducati Scrambler models and is now enhanced by a new aluminium rim. Its interior mounts an aluminium X-grille with a clearly visible Ducati logo. The grille divides up the DRL (Daytime Running Light) system on the Scrambler 1100 to create the four trademark Land of Joy light segments. Careful design has produced a two-element instrument panel: a classic round section, as seen on all the Scrambler bikes, and an additional oval element to display a broader info range. Every single part of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 has been meticulously designed down to the very last detail. A painted aluminium logo adds a stylish finishing touch. Machine-finished aluminium bar plugs match the headlight assembly, as does the logo on the spark plug caps. The gearbox is a 6-speed unit while the clutch is the wet multiplate type with hydraulic control. The clutch also has a servo-assisted slipper function that limits rear wheel destabilisation during downshifting including engine braking control which is able to set High, Mid and Low. I use the Low setting and at slower corners I could drop to 1st gear and don’t even feel that I’m actually on 1st gear while churning out the ride-by-wire throttle without any drama. The Ducati Scrambler 1100 is made for relaxed easy riding and yet fun while remains user-friendly and agile, a source of endless satisfaction on both city streets and the open road, even with a little off road excursion.

Just as he did in 2017, team PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ rider Ahmad Afif Amran has once again proven himself to be the undisputed King of the Hill at the 1.305km Teluk Intan street track. The Terengganu-born rider conquered Round 5 of the 2018 PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship with remarkable ease, racing uncontested from pole position to win the CP150 Final by a 6.614 seconds margin. Afif completed the 20-lap race with a time of 17'15.623s making this his third victory of the season so far. Afif's team mate, Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman, finished second with a time of 17'22.237s. Mohd Hafiza Rofa from the ONEXOX TKKR Racing Team raced home in third place with 17'24.225s. While the CKJ camp celebrated their second 1-2 finish of the season, the vaunted Maju outfit suffered one of their worst races of the season so far. The team's best finish came from Mohd Ramdan Rosli who finished sixth behind Rozaiman Said and Helmi Azman. Mechanical failure forced the PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor's fastest rider Mohd Akid Aziz out of the race on Lap 1 just as Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin crashed out at Turn 1 on the opening lap.

The race experienced a surreal moment on Lap 11 when leader Ahmad Afif Amran cruised past a struggling Kasma who had been forced into a backmarker role by the crash. "Our team's bike has been remarkable this season, and I thank our team engineers for their hard work. When the race started, I just kept my focus on maintaining a consistent pace," said Afif. Afif's unbroken string of podium finishes has strengthened his position at the top of the standings. The CKJ rider is well on the way to winning the CP150 title with 115 points, 41 points ahead of his own team mate, Mohd Hafiz Nor Azman. Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin suffered two consecutive bad rounds in Round 4 and Round 5, and has dropped to third overall with 70 points.

i-Moto

Meanwhile, Tengku Amirul Hafiruddin made a strong comeback after missing out on the CP115 podium in the previous Round 4 in Temerloh. The Motul Zeneos Yamaha YY Pang Racing rider raced uncontested in a pole-to-flag performance with a time of 13'50.314s, 3.721 seconds behind Tengku Amirul, the 5-bike battle for P2 provided most of the excitement in the 15-lap race. Ahmad Syukran Aizat, representing team PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha-CKJ, retained nominal control over the second group but was constantly challenged by Mohd Fareez Afeez, Mohd Haziq Mohd Fairues and Nazirul Izzat Mohd Bahauddin. However, Syukran was able to stay half a wheel ahead of his competitors to take second place with 13'54.035s. Mohd Fareez Afeez completed the podium trio in third place with 13'55.254s. This latest win has given Tengku Amirul a 40point advantage in the CP115 title chase. He now leads with 113 points. SHENG KONG MOTOR SDN BHD “The Dealer WhoCares" Back in 1969; and the place, Telok Intan, Perak. The brilliance and passion of Mr Ng and his beloved wife Madam Ng as they opened the doors of Sheng Kong Motor. Mr Ng was an avid motorcyclist with most of his throttle twisting behind the bars of a Norton or BSA. Neither he nor his wife were strangers to the motorcycle world, and recognizing the growing popularity of the sport, they put together a business plan. But this plan was like no other. Sure, there had to be something to sell and services to offer, but their new business was going to focus on customers and community. They both knew that this was the key to success, and caring about the customer was the most important thing. They coined the slogan “The Dealer Who Cares,” and the business began to operate under that slogan from day one. Did it work? You bet. Starting in a modest 600 square feet facility with Sheng Kong Motor as the only nameplate, the days were spent selling motorcycles and parts, and the evenings and nights, no matter how long it took, performing service and repairs.

“The most importantthing is and has always been caring about the customers.”

The couple quickly brought on Yamaha and Modenas and in 1969, Suzuki motorcycles were added to the line-up. By 2000, they had expanded to next door, 2010 saw Sheng Kong expanded to 3 shop lots.

On the brands and accessories, there is something for every type of rider at Sheng Kong Motor, Gary said that about 65-70 percent of their business is generated by mopeds below 250cc but transactions are being planned for bigger bike dealership, above 600cc.

Sheng Kong Telok Intan, now had the room to offer its customers the ultimate in motorcycles and accessories. In 2012, they added Yamaha Big Bikes to the mix, and as they rolled on into the 21st century, they continued to grow and evolve into much more than just a motorcycle dealer. Still building on their momentum of success in 2015, they added KTM to their already impressive selection.

They have been a Yamaha dealer since 1969, with KYT, Racing Boy and Givii being among some of the more popular brands of apparel and gear sold in Sheng Kong Motor now.

Over the years, ownership of the dealership transitioned to Gary Ng (the couple’s son), who is the current managing Sheng Kong Motor. Gary has been dedicated to uphold the values and customer focus that have always been a part of Sheng Kong Motor.

“Adventure riding has not caught on strong in the Telok Intan, but in Rawang branch which open in 2014” Gary said. He gradually shifted his personal interests more into street riding and also adventure as he used to rides a KTM 1050 “It’s a super comfortable bike,” Gary said riding adventure, Gary hopes he will be able to boost adventure riding and get it going on a larger scale hence he owns a KTM Adventure 1050, Gary also owns a Yamaha XMax 250cc scooter and rides it daily to the shop and to Yamaha events.

Today, it is no secret that the business is well known in the community for their support and contributions to multiple charities and when asking Gary about the key to this success he said, “Dad & Mom instilled the values in me to always help the community and its people.” In 2016 Sheng Kong organise a riding clinic with i-Moto i-RideClinic a rider training at Sepang Go Kart Track to promote safety and confidant riding to bikers who purchase motorcycles above 250cc from Sheng Kong and making motorcycling as a recreation and sport as fun as possible. Gary grew up in the dealership, riding his first motorcycle at 14 years of age, and eventually feel in love with motorcycle.

“The race was really good regarding my rhythm, but I was a bit disappointed about myself because I didn’t do a good Qualifying. This track is not easy “It was a great pity for me that we couldn’t race in Silverstone because I for the Yamaha machine and we never experienced full wet conditions on the MotoGP bike, but safety missed some sessions because goes first, so the decision was easy. Now I look forward to Misano, a of the weather, so we didn’t do track that I like so much and I have some good memories there. I try to many kilometers on this track. I hope everything is going well.” looks easy on the paper, but in some corners we need some traction to have a good drive. In the race the bike was really good for me, I could do the pace like the top 10 in every lap, it’s just a shame that I was so far back. On the first lap I needed to start to pass many riders that were slower than me. The last lap was truly good, I thought I could pass Nakagami, but in the end it didn’t work out. Next race, I try to improve my Qualifying, which is very important now as we know that we can be really strong in the race. I need to work very hard and I’m looking forward to the next GP.”

The Afyon Motorsports centre made an FIM World Championship ‘debut’ this weekend for the first Grand Prix in Turkey since 2009. The course was hard-packed, wide, fast and rough in sections that made for some relentless racing and Red Bull KTM again played their part in some hot and sunny conditions in front of 15,000 spectators (weekend figure). The fixture was the third in three weeks for the MXGP paddock and the eighteenth round of twenty in the 2018 campaign. MXGP Jeffrey Herlings stands on the brink of his first title in the premier class and the fourth of his career after his thirteenth 1-1 victory of the season. The 23 year old Dutchman controlled proceedings in the opening moto with his KTM 450 SX-F after winning the Qualification Heat for the eleventh time on Saturday. Herlings faced some competition for the lead deep into the second moto from 2016 champion Tim Gajser but maintained his speed in the final minutes to again take the chequered flag. Herlings has won the last 7 Grands Prix in a row, 11 from the last 12 and has not been defeated for the last 13 motos.

#84 now has a margin of 95 points over world champion Tony Cairoli with just 100 left to win in events in Holland and Italy. The Sicilian was 8th overall. He scored a strong runner-up to Herlings in the first moto despite clipping one of the trackside bridges and sustaining a cut and bang to his right hand. A crash in the opening phases of the second moto cast #222 to the back of the field but he postponed an early party for Herlings by riding back to 15th position.

BUILT FOR ALL ROAD! BUILT FOR NO ROADS!

As retro style motorcycle has become globally hot, the English-originated brand Royal Enfield added a dual-purpose model called Himalayan which was designed by South African Pierre Terblanche and recently launched to the Malaysian market by RE Motorcycles Sdn Bhd with over 20 motorcycle media attended the gathering. The Himalayan was introduced in India market back in 2015, Himalayan designed to look like a classic seventies dual-purpose Paris Dakar motorcycle.

Origin of the Name The name Himalayan represents the inheritance of classic Royal Enfield and designed to tackle the broken roads of the Himalayan Mountain. In our review days whenever we parked the Himalayan will cause a buzz with older bikers and stands out in a crowd.

i-Moto Static Experience Seen from its appearance, Himalayan inherited the classic design of its family. The classic clean-cut fuel tank has a capacity of 15L. The simple classic vintage round headlamp, the almost oval taillight and the turn lights all adopt traditional lights source. The gel like saddle provides a very comfortable riding. Himalayan uses Pirelli MT 60 tyre, front 90/90 21 and rear 120/90 17. In addition, the Himalayan is the first Royal Enfield to be fitted with mono absorber. The Himalayan has a single four stroke engine with a displacement of 411cc, with 5 gears. The frame designed by Harris Performance match perfectly. Dynamic Test The engine sounds less like most single and with 24hp @ 6,700 rpm provide a no frills power. The big 411cc single cylinder engine feels less energetic at low torque and the acceleration from 0 to 80km/h is not so torquey. The top speed can reach up to 135km/h, but the Himalayan weights a whopping 191kg

i-Moto With air cooled, the engine heat has no effect on the riding. It was over 40℃ on the ride day. After a riding distance of 200km, there is no heat exhaustion on the major parts, and our rider felt no heat wave at the inner side of two legs. The handlebar is handy and gives proper vibration sense during riding. The rear shock absorber is comfortably soft, but can adjustable accordingly. It is better to be adjusted to be softer when riding on off-road sections. The front 41mm telescopic shock absorber with a 200mm travel can handle normal off-road conditions. During Off-road session during the review, the Himalayan handles pretty well on rocky and soft sand, plus I actually met the rider who took the Himalayan to Rimba Raid, place 3rd in his category.

i-Moto

Braking is done by disc brakes on both ends with ABS. Brakes felt abit spongy during the test ride probably cos the ABS kicking in!. On the curves, the body gravity of Himalayan is not that low so it is much better to get through the curves with reverse bending and leg out! Riding on paved road, the bike gradually speeded up to 80km/h. I could full throttle from 1st to 3rd gear but sometimes will miss the gear change to 2nd gear. But on road handling was exceptionally better than other dual purpose bikes, the Himalayan felt solid and handling in tight road corners was quite precise where we want it to go, even with the Pirelli knobby dual purpose tyres. The feeling of changing torque from all gears are not obvious. When the bike runs faster than 100km/h, the engine sound and vibration increase a lot. The rider with weight of 50kg, has run a top speed of 135km/h during the test ride. Himalayan performs quite stable on offroad sections and city pavements during traffic jams. Thanks to the 220mm ground

clearance that makes the Himalayan quite a pavement and quick off-road diversion conqueror. With the low torque, the back wheel doesn’t slides so much with full throttle, which becomes no trouble, but brings more control and riding fun. After several hundred kilometres of riding, we had a mix feel about the Himalayan but no matter riding on city road, country road or off road, Himalayan will not fail to respond to your control expectation. Ergonomics are comfortable and upright when seated as well as making it easy to stand up on the bike and turn on the road and move around when off-road. The wind shield does a decent job on the highways which I average around 100km/h. But with the price tag of RM36,880 seems Himalayan is the highest priced 400cc in the market.
