POWER-UP: GULF OIL POWERTRAC RANGE
i-Moto Power-up
O
ver 100 years of History, opening the first-ever branded petrol station in Pittsburgh, USA in 1913, Gulf Oil have led the way in fuel retail ever since. With a 100-year heritage, the Gulf brand is globally recognized and trusted by millions of customers. Gulf branding is synonymous with the distinctive orange disc that still forms part of the Gulf logo. During the 1960s, the Gulf brand developed high profile marketing campaigns, including sponsorship of the Apollo moon landings and sponsoring the 24hour Le Man Porsche team and winning it multiple times. Gulf’s instantly recognizable orange disc is now synonymous around the world with high quality products, innovation and technical excellence. In addition to worldwide coverage for lubricant sales, today Gulf is now present in over 25 countries across the world for both fuel retailing and lubricants, with aspirations of achieving 60 by 2020 is on track with presents in Malaysia and Singapore. Gulf association with Le Mans made Gulf a household name in the 4 wheels but did u know Gulf also produce two wheel range of lubricant and Gulf sponsor the Gresini Aprilia MotoGP Team and Milwaukee BMW British Superbike Team as technical partnership so we know Gulf Oil is serious in the 2 wheels development. Currently we are reviewing the Gulf PowerTrac range that gives a 7% more power. Launch in 2017 the PowerTrac range Synthetic, multi-grade engine oil for new generation motorcycles with capacity of 180 cc & above. Formulated with ‘PowerRox’ molecules, PowerTrac 4T will ensure maximum power, ride-after-ride.
i-Moto Power-up Gulf PowerTrac 4T golden pack to highlight the company’s partnership with Team Milwaukee BMW. The new range of Gulf PowerTrac 4T is ideal for new generation motorcycles with engine capacity of 180 cc and above. Available in Malaysia the viscosity grades of 10W40 and 15//W50 (Semi- Synthetic) and 10W-50 (Fully Synthetic) , this multi grade engine oil is best suited for consumers who seek maximum power output from their bikes. Sepang Circuit is the ideal condition to TrackTest our RSV4 Factory with Gulf PowerTrac 10W/50. Gulf Syntrac 10W/50 4T is fully synthetic, 4-stroke engine oil developed specifically to meet the requirements of latest high performance sports, touring, off road bikes, scooters or 4 wheelers. Exceeds the most demanding lubrication requirements and prevents wet clutch slippage. Specifications Meets: API SL/JASO MA Approved: JASO MA2 Our 1st Session run of the SBR track day we took it easy just to get the everything
running in a swing. Then next Group B session we took the RSV4 for 5 fast laps. We could feel the claimed 7% percent added power as over top speed was usual around 265km/h but for a couple of laps, we got 271km/h as we approached our braking marker. We manage to hit 279km/h on 2 occasions but as we got overly excited with the new top speed we
had on the RSV4, we drop to 1st gear and I was unable to turn the bike at Turn One, first was just runoff, we tried next lap and we made it stick at 275km, then again being greedy the following lap we hit again 279km/h this time drooped to the first gear again and went right straight to the gravel! No fall nor crash but just some hairs turn white with the new found top speed. Dropping down to first gear seems less wheel hopping as we did it in T9 and while exiting T2 to T3 the power can be felt when the front keep lifting off as I roll on the throttle. Engine running temperature while the RSV4 was on the track was consistent at 88-98 degree. Never notice it went over 100 unless I was stationary or waiting at the gate to go on track.
i-Moto Cover story: Track test rsv4 1100 factory
T
2019 marks a decade since the launch of the RSV4 Factory, by Max Biaggi back in 2009. And now the RSV4 has evolved to RSV4 peak torque. 1100 Factory. Even back in 2009, the RSV4 was simply the best looking 1000 cc superbike at that time and still is now. The evolution of the RSV4 1100 Factory is instantly recognizable for its carbon fibre winglets straight from Aprilia’s MotoGP bike, and a first on a road bike. On the spec sheets, the peak power outranks anything else on the roadgoing superbike market, just edging its other V4 competitor, although its competitor comes out on top with peak torque.
The Engine ✔✔✔✔✔@i-Moto Aprilia turned the RSV4 from a 999cc machine to a 1078cc. The piston diameter increased from 78mm to 81mm, while leaving the stroke unchanged at 52.3mm. Compression ratio of 13.6:1. Improvements to the injection and intake and a new engine mapping, the Magneti Marelli 7SM ECU ups the rev limit to 13,600rpm accounts for the improved power as we found out. With a fine quickshift and autoblipper-enabled gearbox shifting seems relaxed. We rode with Traction set at 8 for the test, so no one can do madness with the throttle, nor instability the RSV but the 5th and 6th gear ratios have been lengthened to reach a better top speed which was lacking in previous generations RSV4’s. Obviously the traction was set at Traction 8 as there was 30 riders mix with medias for the RSV4 Test Ride. But ideally would be from Traction 4 or lower out of the eight settings for anyone with good riding ability, but that kept me in check without hindering my riding too much as I got on the throttle like normal and got all the meter lights up like a Christmas tree out of every corners at Sepang Circuit.
i-Moto Cover story: Track test rsv4 1100 factory I did my best to get the “chicken strips” gone. As I was the fourth rider to test the RSV4, while the track condition wasn’t too great too, as the track was still damp at some parts with the SuperCorsa SP pretty slow in getting the heat up. The titanium Akrapovic muffler give out that deep, throaty pitched roar as the engine spins its way towards peak revs.
The Ride & Brakes ✔✔✔✔✔@i-Moto RSV4 1100 Factory gets a new front brake caliper known as ‘Stylema’ by Brembo replacing the M50’s that allows for more aggressive application. Located behind forks, the cool looking carbon fibre cooling ducts not only look like GP-spec but gets the job done! The cooling duct also helps with the stability under braking. Rider aids and extra equipment / accessories As ever, there’s a top-level suite of electronic goodies, including traction control, wheelie control, launch control, quick shifter, pit lane limiter, cruise control and cornering ABS.
The Handling, Suspension, Chassis and Weight ✔✔✔✔✔@i-Moto
height does feel tall when you first hop on but if you’re more than 6ft tall or taller it will feel a little cramped. I wouldn’t have New tweaks to the 1100’s frame include any problem, even I’m small size rider new steering bushes that reduce the head while all the flicking left to right at T2 angle and take 4mm off the wheelbase, takes minimal effort. From front straight, while the Ohlins NIX forks get 5mm more towards T1, down shifting from 6th to 2nd travel than before and the swingarm has even 1st for T9, the Aprilia’s slipper clutch been make more rigid. Brembo’s latest is so seamlessly smooth without any rear Stylema calipers, replaces M50 calipers, wheel sliding. and all RSV4 1100 Factory sold in MalaysiaThe proven RSV4 chassis now with fully (this year 6-7 units) will get the carbon adjustable Ohlins NIX forks and TTX rear brake ducts for extra cooling the brake shock and Pirelli Supercorsa SP tyres calipers. have formed an incredibly successful Most panels remain unchanged but the team to offer handling capability like no RSV4 1100 Factory gains MotoGP-style other. The bike is so stable under hard winglets on the fairing for better braking, in the slow and fast corners plus downforce and stability at highspeed, under acceleration. It’s flattering, faultless while improving braking and reduce and forgiving making riders of any wheelies out of corners. That winglets are standard feel like a superbike hero for already the attention grabber. The RSV4 maximum track performance. Wet weight 1100 Factory so easy ride, even compare of 199kg is 5kg lighter than its to my own 2009 RSV4 Factory, which is predecessor, half of that is a courtesy of a already, consider an easy bike to ride. lithium battery. The 851mm seat (2009 Factory is 810mm)
i-Moto Cover story: Track test rsv4 1100 factory The Price ✔✔✔✔✔@i-Moto Price wise in Malaysia, Aprilia’s Malaysian distributor Didi Resources Sdn Bhd have cunningly priced its latest weapon slightly below the competitor’s S model but packed with extra goodies. The extra top spec goodies gives RSV4 1100 Factory an extra 16hp to 217hp and offers 7Nm more torque yet weighs 5kg less that includes carbon, titanium, forged aluminium, winglets, Ohlins, Brembo and Akrapovic, you know this is going to be a special for a “First Ride” on the Sepang Circuit, as Malaysia will only be receiving around 7 units this year, priced at RM159,000.00 only!
The Overall Verdict ✔✔✔✔✔@i-Moto Don’t call me a fanboy, but as an owner of a 2009 RSV4 Factory, this is the best RSV4 I’ve ever ridden on track, not to say mine is not fast but this RSV4 1100 Factory takes the ride experience it to another level. The guys at Noale did wonders ten years ago by inventing the RSV4 Factory, and now Aprilia have worked wonders with this version to go head to head with its competitor.

ROAD TEST: 2019 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade The Overall Rating ✪✪✪✪
A
n excellent sportsbike that is pleasing to ride, as it is so smooth and polish, this Fireblade may not feel as torque as other 1000cc but has the all sportbike character but just feels a little milder. Depending on the rider’s mood the CBR1000RR will create its speed in an efficient but dependable way,
which will flatters all riding styles and abilities. Seamless, effortless power thrusts the CBR to incredibly high speeds from almost anywhere in the rev range. The Ride & Brakes ✪✪✪✪ Standard suspension settings are too hard for most road riders but it’s fully adjustable so you can tweak it to sort your style.
i-Moto News! The Engine ✪✪✪✪ The Honda produces 189hp at 13,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm. CBR’s 1000cc engine is seamless, effortless power thrusts the CBR to incredibly high speeds from almost anywhere in the rev range. And Honda has the smoothest fuel injection and best fuel efficiency as well among all the 1000cc bike we tested. The Quality & Reliability ✪✪✪✪ As always Honda’s excellent in reliability and but the build quality is above average.
The Riding Position ✪✪✪✪✪ The Honda CBR1000RR riding position is quite racy but not too tiring on the neck even over 200k rides. The Value ✪✪✪✪ You get a TFT display meter, finally electronic aids like Traction Control, Preset Modes, User define modes, that it for the standard CBR1000RR but sadly the standard Fireblade doesn’t come with quick shifter….. The Price ✪✪✪✪✪ The 2019 Fireblades goes for under RM100k, RM91,999 is quite a good deal as most basic a superbike… but if your are looking at a complete package the 2019 CBR1000RR Fireblade SP maybe what you looking for.

FIRST LOOK: HONDA CBR250RR
oon Siew Honda previewed the road going Honda CBR250RR. Making its first appearance to the public and local media’s eyes. Launch back in 2017 in Indonesian market and recently in March 2019 in Thailand, we hope to see the CBR250RR on Malaysian roads, but with strict JPJ homologation, we may not see the production model in Malaysia in the near future.
But we are still hopeful in the near future, and another reason is the CBR250RR may also cost over RM30,000. Honda has a ‘no comment’ on when CBR250RR will launch in Malaysia. So, fans of this quarter-litre like us will have to wait for this CBR250RR a little longer.

oon Siew Honda and Idemitsu Lubricants Malaysia will once again be working together to train the third generation of world class Malaysian riders. As part of their developmental plan, the two companies have come together to place a new team entry, Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing, in the Asia Production 250cc class of the
FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The team’s full season debut is scheduled for the 2020 season. However, with the sixth leg of the 2019 season being held at the Sepang International Circuit, the team had decided to take advantage of the homeground advantage to gain an early gauge of the level of competition that they will be facing. “The Asia Production 250cc class was added to the Asia Road Racing Championship roster in 2015. To date, the class had been dominated by Thai and Indonesian riders. However, we know that, given the calibre of Malaysian riders, they should be challenging for the title in every single season. After all, the Malaysian riders are dominant in every other category of the ARRC (ASB1000, SuperSports 600cc, and Underbone 150cc), except the 250cc class. By establishing our own factory outfit in the class, we take on the mission of changing the balance of power in this popular category,” said Mr. Keiichi Yasuda, MD and CEO of Boon Siew Honda Sdn Bhd. For the purpose of this wildcard entry, Team Idemitsu Boon Siew Honda Racing will be fielding two upcoming young Malaysian riders – Muhammad Syarifuddin Azman and Muhammad Idlan Haqimi Raduan. The riders will be competing astride the Honda CBR250RR.

The Race edition double-cradle frame is stiff and the conventional telescopic forks up front along with a rear monoshock, going twist corner are quite an easy task without much effort, but the front suspensions are a bit on the soft side. The Apache has a commendable overtaking speed even at triple-digit speeds, TVS claim a top speed of 155km/h but on the test bike we got 146km/h, probably needed a long road to achieving that. The riding position is not much aggressive, that normal for a naked street bike so don’t worry about getting tired back over long distances. The impressive handling of the Race edition is further complemented by the decent grip from the 90/90-R17 front and 130/70-R17 rear from Pirelli Angel tyres, all thanks to which you will not feel losing out confidence even while going hard on sharp turns. A 270mm disc brake upfront along with a 240mm completes the braking set up on the Race Edition. The brakes offers impressive feedback and bite and you can rely on these in emergencies. TVS Apache RTR 4V Race Edition 2.0 directly challenges, Bajaj Pulsar NS, a brand also from India which is rebadged under Modenas.

Marquez held on to the lead right from Turn 1 and the field was not even remotely close to the rider to build an competition. By the end of Lap 1, Marquez built a one second lead over rest of the grid and maintained his pace through the race. Quartararo started second and showed impressive pace in the initial stages of the race. The rider though soon lost his position to Jack Miller of Pramac Ducati after he passed Yamaha's Maverick Vinales to take P3. Miller was aggressive from the opening lap itself and soon slotted into P2 right behind Marquez. The latter though had built his lead further by two seconds by the end of Lap 4. The third place Quartararo was now feeling the heat from Vinales who powered through the satellite rider on Lap 5 at Turn 16 to make his way into the top three. Vinales showed impressive pace and was now looking to pass Miller for P2. However, the Ducati cleared carried more speed and it wasn't until Lap 8 that Vinales managed to pass Miller at Turn 4.
Meanwhile, Andrea Dovizioso on the factory Ducati had climbed his way to P4 from P10. By Lap 16, the Ducati rider managed to pass Miller to take P3 and was now hunting Vinales to take P2. With five laps to go, Dovizioso finally found the opportunity to pass the Yamaha as Vinales made a slight mistake on the Turn 14 chicane, allowing the Ducati to clear through. There was no redemption for the factory Yamaha rider, however, as he lost pace and dropped further to P4 as Miller passed him once again on the final lap to finish on the podium.

It is especially true if you have a GIVI top box without reflector, because other drivers cannot see the box at night. The solution is to mount a GIVI LED Stop Light Kit. The kit features super bright LEDs that can be seen a long way down the road. The unit is sealed and weatherproof. Depending on your motorcycle’s lighting/electrical system, they stay on with the ignition, but blink when you apply the brakes.
