KAWASAKI Kawasaki had already revealed the Z900RS at the Tokyo Motor Show, which was held barely a month before EICMA. The bike is based on the mental Kawasaki Z900. But the Japanese performance bike manufacturer showed off a new avatar of the Z900RS, which is the Z900RS Cafe. Yes! This is a cafe racer variant of the Z900RS and for reasons best known to Kawasaki; the name of the bike is Z900RS Cafe instead of putting 'racer' at the end. Nonetheless, the bike looks absolutely ravishing. We do spot a few changes on the Z900RS Cafe as compared to the standard Z900RS that was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The new Multistrada 950 remains faithful to the Ducati traditions of style, sophistication and performance. Now, its outstanding versatility is underscored by even greater rider-friendliness.

i-Moto

The 937 cc twin-cylinder Testastretta 11° engine can deliver 113 hp and a maximum torque of 9.8 kgm at 7750 rpm, providing prompt throttle response especially at low and mid-range rpm - that remains constant as the revs climb.

The twin-cylinder engine on the Multistrada 950, controlled via a slipper clutch that kicks in during aggressive downshifting boasts particularly long service intervals thanks to constant technological research by Ducati and the use of increasingly advanced materials

any asked me, what’s the best thing in the new “Multistrada 950”? My answer, you will get an awesome adventure! , plus an excellent experience and most important is fun ride every time, you jump on the saddle of the Multistrada 950!

I was invited along for the Ducati with 6 other journalist to the “Multistrada 950 campout” but just before that I had been given a road-test of the new Ducati supersport S, a bike with looks not as exciting of the Panigale 959 but it’s a bike that grows on you every ride you take with the supersport (see other link for supersport review) and now given the chance to join the first Ducati campout and “BOY” that’s an experience riding the (MTS) Multistrada 950 and even sleeping in a tent.

i-Moto

The two day one night campout was hosted by Ducati Malaysia in collaboration with Big Boys Adventure.

: the ride took us to a planned 300km round route from Ducati Malaysia to GombakGenting-Karak-Bentong-Caravan Serai (Campout site) :Caravan Serai- Fraser Hill-Sg Pertak (picnic by the waterfall)-Kuala Kubu-Lembah Beringin-Ducati Malaysia. I have so much excitement reviewing the 950, starting with the looks, you actually can’t differentiate the MTS 950 with the MTS 1200, what can be said in a nut shell, the new MTS 950 handling is significantly easy to flick left and right, superb in tight and twisty narrow corners, it’s a wild and fun stallion that will suit all kind of riders, slow, fast, old or young.

Turning to the riding experience with Defensive Riding Training, a training by DRE Instructors Remon and Haizal, they gave us valuable tips to handle the new MTS 950. The MTS 950 is much better and easier to guide than the 1200 model, especially when it comes to handling and stationary weight matters. It’s also much better when taking turns at relatively high speeds. However, (honestly) it is still not at par with the controlling stage of its competitor, in the offroad segment maybe because of the tyres and rims but the MTS 950 is capable of rivalling many of its competitor by just slapping it with a pair of spokes and knobbly tyre and with another additional RM6k, this MTS 950 should have reached the perfect 10 with Dual Sport segment!

The MTS 950 I got for the test was the standard MTS 950 model fitted with Pirelli Scorpion tyre. The Ducati Traction Control (DTC) takes care of everything, you can feel the DTC in action when over slippery muddy turns, and even patches of sand on the uneven tarmac, it’s almost a breeze riding the MTS 950, even while standing and with one hand on the throttle. I rode mostly standing with speed up to 120km/h even in the corners, I was standing on the peg. Its so light and nimble. The engine response is far too far better in Touring Mode than in Sport Mode or maybe we were just enjoying the scenic routes and we hardly use the Sport Mode. The Touring Mode is the most enjoyable mode I would say. Even on the SuperSport S (which is a Sports Touring version rather than a Superbike from Ducati), I was mostly on the “Touring Mode throughout the Supersport S road test. However, I could not test the maximum speed of this bike but I hit about 205km/h without any front wobbling but only with some “grinners from the Marshall as I was passing him and trying catching up with the fast group. Whether they will penalty me for speeding, is still a question mark???? But based on some sources of information, the MTS 950 can be ramped up to 240kms without any problems. I’ve started to pound in my Suomy helmet, saying, wow!

Once again, the MTS 950, if you’re injected with the throttle and the way the 950 handling, it’s definitely fun. It’s just really cool to be able to handle a wet 227kg sport adventure bike and actually make you wanna ride it again and again! đ&#x;˜› At a price of RM85,900 for the Standard MTS 950 to RM91,900 for the Dual Purpose variant is capable of suiting every adventure soul, what else would you say? Yes, it is not difficult if you have the money in your pocket to spare, the 950 set to be the bestselling Sport Touring model of Ducati and the adventure riders of the world..

i-Moto

How about you? The MTS 950 stole my heart? Yes it did and if I was in the market to get a Touring bike the MTS 950 will be in my wish list. Back to the event, it was another experience for me too, as I haven’t been out camping for at least 30 years. We stopped at places I have never been, enjoyed with good friends and met new friends. Ducati Asia Gianluca Maggiori., Ducati Asia Gianluca Maggiori, Diddy and Rosman plus his crew from Bigboys Adventure. Before the Defensive Riding Training, a Basic First Aid Training focusing on how to treat spinal injury, trauma and injury prevention including re-enactment of emergency scenarios were also part of the program . “Art” is our First Aid “Nurse and Instructor”. Luckily there was no sign of rain till later evening but Ducati was well prepared partnering Givi to offer all participants a Givi rainsuit to stay dry and focused on riding without worrying too much of the elements. After that we had off-road drills and mud test. A different Ducati Riding Experience. A special thanks to Ducati Malaysia Next Bikes Sdn Bhd for the invite.

And lastly a trip to Bentong will not be complete if the was no Durian involved, so a lunch picnic at the waterfall at Kuala Kubu Baru, we had Durians.

Our last stop at the Kuala Kubu Dam, then we ride back to Ducati Malaysia. A really thrilling adventure with the new Multistrada 950 with out a doubt one of the best sport adventure bike we have ridden.

ROAD|TEST

An incredibly fun ride, combined with maximum dynamism, massive power, outstanding quality and a hot styling that is just the biggest turn-on: the KTM 390 DUKE marks another major step forward, leaving the competition in the dust. Light as a feather, supremely powerful and practical, equipped with radical looks as well as cutting-edge technology: the KTM 390 DUKE makes an exciting as well as an affordable choice for all who value a riding experience defined by agility and raw performance. Hi-revving rocket just want to make the rider have fun and easy to control weather high-speed or slow!

ROAD|TEST

The KTM 390 Duke sets a new benchmark, new expectations and value for money for a 373cc bike, can’t really say it’s for an entry level rider but it’s a real fun bike that make you want to do “naughty” things. What I mean “Naughty” is slide in corner, pop a wheelie when in first gear, zoom pass other riders like a silent sewing machine (still standard factory exhaust)! Whack in an Akrapovič full system will add to

the “Naughtiness” but confirm everyone will know you are coming and zooming pass them as they were standing still! When KTM launched the 390 Duke a month and half ago, we got a chance to test it ride after the official launch of the 250 and 390 Duke, but the Media ride we didn’t really test the 250 nor the 390. So this time we had about 4 solid days to review about the 390 Duke. The

KTM Duke series changed the entry-level performance bike segment with its front up-side-down WP Suspension and rear WP monoshocks back in 2013 and now the Duke get a better handling package and a +2 Nm to 37Nm in torque. No change in the horsepower department, 390 Duke remains at 43hp. The 373cc singlecylinder liquid-cooled engine

ROAD|TEST

Guys at Kiska always are the design specialist and the SuperDukeR inspired Dukes are one of them, the 390 gets the headlamp looking like a “Praying Mantis” with split LED fangs with aggressive style and exposed sub-frame take the aesthetic value of the bike to a new level.

Ready to Race handling? That’s what you will get with the updated WP Suspension, it’s get a harder suspensions and on a track surface, it won’t go wrong with the 390 Duke, slap the 390 Duke with multiple twisty corners, the 390 Duke, KTM calls it the CORNER ROCKET, seems to fit the bill, will take the twisty corners like a piece of cake with icing on top! The ergonomics makes the rider a more up right riding position, with foot peg position moved backwards and up.

The 390 Duke’s display is like a phone attached to the bike, like a Samsung Note 12 display! Not kidding ya, never before an entry level displacement bike has a full TFT display panel. The TFT display is something we see on bigger and super expensive bikes and never on bikes priced like this. The TFT gives the ride the range ride data, along with other pop-up menu, that is operated via the new menu buttons on the left. The kill switch and side-stand warning signs are text based. There’s also KTM ‘My Ride’ function that connects the smartphone to the cluster via Bluetooth.

i-Moto

Feels too light! Is than good? Hell yeah lighter is better, and with the shorter 10mm wheelbase, makes the 390 Duke, super easy to handle! The +10 kg from the previous model doesn’t really make much difference as its already light weight. Still only 149kg dry! With a wider and longer seat, the rider has more space to move around. The bike doesn’t feel cramped anymore as the combination of increase seat height and new pegs position has eased up the riding position. The ride-by-wire system has made the throttle response smoother.

Whats SuperMoto Mode? Well SuperMoto is always sliding in to corners right, but with ABS you really can’t lock up the rear, but you can on SuperMoto Mode, which this mode shuts the rear ABS and makes you happy sliding your rear in corners, together with smooth slipper clutch sliding the rear never been so much fun. And for track junkies, can completely off the ABS. But the 390 Duke must be stationary for you to set the ABS modes. Can’t do that while riding. With a bigger 320mm brake disc at the front. The brakes perform brilliantly. With a price tag of RM28,800 the new 390 Duke is a value for money motorcycle, be it your first bike or an old hand, the 390 Duke wont fail to impress.

Yamaha has completed two days of private testing at Sepang, bringing an end to this year's MotoGP ontrack action.

Both Rossi and Vinales had four different varieties of bike at their disposal in Sepang, having sampled a mixture of 2016 and '17 chassis in Valencia, while Zarco had two different specs to try.

Factory pair Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales were joined by Tech3 satellite rider Johann Zarco, who also worked closely with the factory Yamaha outfit in Valencia testing earlier this month. None of the three were present at last week's combined Jerez test, with Honda riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa also skipping it in order to save their allocation of test days. While Yamaha has not issued any official comment on the test, it is understood that the main focus of Monday and Tuesday's running was on defining the final engine specification for the 2018 M1.

The trio were also able to get some wet mileage under their belts on Monday. Official pre-season testing resumes on January 28 at Sepang, which comes at the end of a two-month winter testing ban.

The 2017 season saw the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, goes to Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman who triumphed over a season of blood, sweat and tears to lift the second SuperSports 600cc title of his career. The Manual Tech KYT Kawasaki Racing rider

overcame the disadvantage of multiple crashes, and rode through the pain to craft a final magnificent comeback. He was 10 points adrift of championship leader Zaqhwan Zaidi at the start of the season finale but boosted his chances with a fifth place finish in Race 1.

i-Moto The long-contested season finally came down to its decisive climax, this weekend’s round at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand. After five rounds and ten races completed, points leader and last year’s champion Md Zaqhwan Zaidi (Honda) had acquired 138 total points, and was followed by Yuki Ito (Yamaha) with 134, Taiga Hada (Honda) also with 134, and Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman with 128. All were vying to lift the championship crown in a hotly contested season the likes of which has not been seen in recent years. The Chang International Circuit also played host to Round 2 of the Asia Road Racing Championship, and in addition to the regular riders being fast at their home track, wildcard riders were also quick. How that would affect the outcome of the championship was the focus of much attention. The Kawasaki Thailand Racing Team was also fielding their own wildcard entry in the form of Thai champion Thitipong Warokorn. As this was the final round of the championship, the schedule for the weekend was a bit different than normal. It was set to take place over four days, with two free practices scheduled for day one, a third free practice and qualifying for day two, Race 1 on day three and Race 2 on day four.

Mohd Akid Aziz entered the ARRC history books as the first Underbone 150cc Champion. Needing only two more points to secure his position, the UMA Racing Yamaha Maju Motor rider rode a safe Race 2 and did just enough to pick up his first international title. Defending champion Wahyu Aji Trilaksana dropped to second overall with 165 points while Akid’s team mate Mohd Haziq Mohd Fairues ended the season in third with 141 points.

Young Indonesian rider Gerry Salim finally sealed the Asia Production 250cc title at the grand finale of the 2017 Idemitsu FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The Astra Honda Racing Team’s latest racing star finished fourth in Race 1 and picked up just enough points to end the title chase with one race to spare. Gerry became the first Indonesian to win an ARRC title outside of the Underbone class. The 199 points he has to his name has given him a 31-point margin ahead of Anupab. This will leave Anupab and Koyama scrabbling for second overall in Race 2. Anupab is second overall with 168 points. Koyama is third with 163 points.

Thai rider Punchana Kulrojchalalai has successfully sealed the 2017 Suzuki Asian Challenge title despite finishing third in Race 1. Racing on home ground at Round 6 of the 2017 Idemitsu FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, Punchana was able to use his knowledge of the circuit to pick up his seventh podium of the year.

The Superbike championship is already a done deal for Mohd Farid Hisam who sealed the title before the final leg on the weekend. Farid finished Race 1 in fourth place and took third in Race 2. Moto2 rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah took a double win at the finale weekend.

Muhammad Aiman Tahiruddin sealed the Open 250 title after finishing third in Race 1 despite a crash in Race 2 which caused him to finish down in 11th spot in Race 2.

In 1946 a young, post-war Italian businessman from Valenza, Gino Amisano, began producing leather seats and motorcycle saddles. One year later he repurposed his skills to start AGV SpA (helmets) designing some of the earliest motorcycle protective leather helmets on the market in Italy. As safety testing and standards were not commonplace in this time of history, Amisano was one of the first to begin producing protective motorcycle racing helmets with his 1954 model 160 helmet. Fast forward sixty one years and worldwide the AGV name is living legend. After the production of the first leather “pudding bowl” shaped, crisscross inner lining and harnessed helmet, which would mold to the riders head, AGV had thus separated themselves from the competition, and Gino Amisano would soon be known as the “King of Helmets” in the European industry. To attain such a high status, a “King,” AGV had to establish their dominance in the helmet industry. They started with a riding helmet, but what was to follow? Their first step was by producing a protective jet helmet in 1956, later signing the best motorcyclist to ever participate in the sport in 1967, Giacomo Agostini, who would go on to win 14 World Championships while wearing AGV helmets. The first AGV full faced helmet worn in racing was in an Italian race, worn by Alberto Pagani, in 1969. And finally by creating and sponsoring the now famous “Clinica Mobile, this mobile clinic which would treat injured riders at

the race track starting in 1977. It was clear that AGV had a commitment to excellence, both in safety of their products and the sport itself. It was right about this time that Michael Parrotte began riding motorcycles while attending the American School of Paris for three years. During this time AGV was the undisputed King of the helmet world in Europe while Bell Helmets reigned supreme in North America. During this time in Europe AGV Helmets were worn by many of the top Grand Prix Riders – Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene, Angel Nieto, Johnny Cecotto, Steve Baker, and Kenny Roberts. AGV was not just the sponsor of racers but of race series. The AGV World Cup consisted of 200 mile events at Daytona, Paul Ricard, and Imola. Shortly after returning to the US Mr. Parrotte wrote a letter to Mr. Amisano enquiring about the possibility of importing AGV Helmets into the US. Communications continued and in late 1976 AGV granted the exclusive rights for the AGV brand to Mr. Parrotte and his new company AGV USA. The first helmets arrived in the port of Baltimore in the spring of 1977. As an avid road racer Michael traveled the race circuit promoting and selling AGV as well as participating in races. During this first season AGV USA sponsored their first racer, an up and coming fourteen year old from Louisiana-named Freddie Spencer. After years of operating as the exclusive importer of AGV helmets, Parrotte saw yet another opportunity in the

motorcycling market by producing safety apparel for riders, particularly club racers who needed very durable and safe products and who did not have unlimited budgets. In 1985 Mr. Amisano licensed the use of the AGV tradename to begin a joint venture with Mr. Parrotte in this new sector. In the first year American GP rider Randy Mamola began wearing AGV gloves, the CX-1. AGV road race suits and boots quickly followed, all handcrafted in Italy at the time. After only a couple of years of business in the US motorcycle apparel industry Yamaha Motor Canada became the first international importer of the AGV apparel. After the success of the AGV motorcycle safety apparel in the United States and Canadian markets, the decision was made to expand the name from AGV to AGVSPORT for cosmetic reasons particularity the Suits, Jackets, and pants. The AGV logo was perfect for helmets and worked for Gloves and Boots but was too short for use on arms and legs. So in the late 1980’s the AGVSPORT brand was born. For a number of years products were branded both AGV and AGVSPORT depending on their styling requirements. In the early 1990’s Italian designer Sergio Robbiano designed the AGVSPORT logo. Sergio was the top designer for AGV and Spidi and had done extensive design work for Ducati and Bimota. One of his first creations was the Bimota VDue 500cc two stoke sport bike.

The company may have been young in age, but with the years of helmet industry knowledge that AGVSPORT founder Michael Parrotte brought with him from his early years with AGV SpA proved to be invaluable when creating high performance safety apparel. As many other producers focused of fashion, Michael focused on safety, performance, and value over all else. In 1992 AGV SpA purchased a majority ownership of AGV Sports Group.

The California Superbike Schools’ instructors and students have been using and abusing AGVSPORT leather suits for more than quarter century. These suits are put to a stress test like no other often being used for days on end, rain or shine year after year. These instructors and students often remain in their suits for the entirety of the day’s lessons, and essentially are living in our leathers. You may think the top sponsored riders would be the best example for why our suits are of the highest quality, but it is the instructors and students at this school that showcase how our suits can literally handle the heat and take a beating, all while staying safe, cool and comfortable. Throughout the 1990’s AGVSPORT apparel began to explode on the racing

scene, beginning with Loris Capirossi wearing AGVSPORT apparel while winning an FIM GP World Championship in 1991. Back in the US the list of sponsored riders started to look like a who’s who of the racing world: from the US the riders Ben Bostrom, Eric Bostrom, Thomas Stevens, Kurtis Roberts, Aaron Yates, and Roland Sands; from Canada Miguel DuHamel, Pascal Picotte, and Steve Canadians; and from Australia Troy Bayliss, Sean Giles, Craig Coxhell, Josh Waters, Jamie Stauffer, and 7-time AMA Super Bike Champion, Mat Mladin. It was now time for AGV Sport Group Inc. to become an independent entity and all the shares of the company were purchased back from AGV SpA in Italy. But it was not until the fall of 2001 that AGVSPORT was officially recognized by the Italian helmet company as an independent brand, owned by entirely by AGV Sport Group Inc. Today AGV Helmets is owned by famed Italian apparel manufacturer Dainese. Since that time AGVSPORT has enjoyed a comfortable position in the apparel industry. By continuing their age old business model “Designed by Riders, for Riders,” and “The Science of Safety” which combined years of helmet industry knowledge. AGVSPORT has always been on the cutting edge of the safety apparel design and construction. AGV Sports Group has always been, and will always be, a company of avid riders and enthusiasts who are wearing and always developing AGVSPORT apparel. This ensures that you, the customer, will experience the best and safest products we have to offer, and we hope that you will actually be able to feel the history of Gino Amisano and progress of

AGVSPORT every time you ride and are wearing any of our AGVSPORT leathers or textiles. Each AGVSPORT product is designed by riders for riders, and function is never sacrificed for aesthetics. By keeping product development and design in house and using experience riders, we are staying true to the dedicated following of discerning motorcycle enthusiasts who respect the quality and value of AGVSPORT performance driven products. We at AGV Sports Group are among the sport’s greatest enthusiasts.

Keith Code

The reputation for durability spread throughout the club racing world and it is not uncommon to see AGVSPORT suits twenty years old or more still being used by club racers today. This ultimately led to a great and long-lasting partnership, now for more than 25 years, with Keith Code and the California Super Bike School, where all instructors would be suited up in AGVSPORT leather suits.

Honda’s MotoGP bikes are hand -assembled by a select group of highly trained technicians, and that’s exactly what they did with the RC213V-S. Even the most critical GP journalists and testers rave about the detail the RC213V-S showcases and those are just the parts they can see! Few of us will ever get to experience a machine like this. Fewer will ever be able to ride it to its full potential. In a world where appearance counts, it’s gratifying to see a machine where performance counts just as much.
