The Animal World Olympics By the team at Cardinal Group
Have you ever wondered what happens at a zoo when the sun goes down?
What do the animals do? Where do they go? Well, you are about to find out!
Once the clock strikes midnight, the giraffes, tigers, and bears find their way to the zoo arena to start practicing for the Animal World Olympics! Their game is basketball.
Sadly, Joanne the Tiger Queen, who was the team captain of the Big Shot basketball team, hurt her paw at the last practice and won’t be better for the Animal World Olympics. Now, it’s up to the team to find a replacement.
On the other side of the zoo, the smaller animals scurry over to try and sneak into watch the bigger animals practice. One day, to fill Joanne’s spot, the basketball team has open tryouts. Lions, rhinos, gorillas, and all of the other big animals come with the hopes of trying to fill the empty spot, but no one compares to the Tiger Queen, until Kobe the koala shows up.
At first the team members don’t think Kobe will be able to shoot far, run fast, or fit in. What no one else knew was that Kobe had been waiting for this moment. He practiced and practiced every night. Making this team was his dream! At the tryouts, he brought his best. He passed the ball well, he made every shot and surprised all the animals with the passion and courage he showed.
The Tiger Queen, who had been sitting on the sidelines watching, noticed that the rest of the team was hesitant to embrace Kobe because of his size, but Joanne stood up for what she knew was right!
After discussing and reviewing the performances of all the animals who tried out, Joanne and the rest of the team decided to give Kobe a shot.
Up to the day of the Olympics, the animals practiced every night and Kobe learned to play with the team better and better every time, and the team started to embrace the change. Not to mention, they were having tons of fun!
The night finally came and all the teams played their hearts out.
The score was 101 to 102 with ten seconds left on the clock. If The Big Shots could make this last basket, they’d win!
One of Kobe’s teammates passed him the ball. He was open, but he saw that Jordan the giraffe had an even better shot. Kobe passed the ball to Jordan perfectly. With one second left, Jordan dunked the ball. The Big Shots win!
Everyone ran down to the court excited to congratulate the team. Most animals were surprised Kobe didn’t try and shoot that last shot, but he explained that team work got them farther than doing it on his own.
After the Animal World Olympics, things went back to normal at the zoo, but the big animals decided the include the smaller animals in their practices. They started to respect their talents and treated them as equals.
The end!
