It IS February, so it seems fitting to talk about LOVE. Isn’t it amazing what a kind word can do to lift someone’s spirits? We never know the struggles of another person, so BE KIND, BE PATIENT, BE LOVING. Now back to me! Haaaa! At the behest of Facebook nudging me, I recently changed my profile picture (below). Wow! Did I ever feel the love of my real estate friends! At the time of press, I had nearly 200 ‘likes’ and more comments on my new photo! Kind words always lift my spirits. Never doubt the positive impact of offering up a kind word or compliment via Facebook or in-person. Speaking of Facebook, the magazine’s page (Real Estate and Friends Magazine) is where you will find more photos than we can fit in the magazine each month, so check it out regularly! Please also “Like” it so we can tag you when we find a photo of you! How do you get YOUR photo in the magazine, you ask?

We dedicate many pages to our real estate friends who pose with the magazine while out doing everyday things - happy hours, office meetings, vacations, weddings, and more! A couple years ago I went to a Realtor Super Bowl watching party and a friend suggested I try the buffalo wings. I did and I loved them but they tasted just like chicken. Gone But Not Forgotten Laura Avila • Passed November 24, 2018 Laura Avila, 36, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 24 in El Paso following a surgical procedure in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. A Realtor with JP & Associates’ Uptown office, Laura was focused on her career and busy planning her wedding to Enrique Cruz, her fiancé. Cruz planned a celebration of life ceremony in Tulum, Mexico, where their wedding was supposed to take place.
Lisa Doney • May 1, 1959 - December 9, 2018 Lisa Doney, 59, passed away at her home in Dallas on December 9, 2018. Lisa was born in the Panama Canal Zone while her father was in the US Army. Lisa worked as a model, winning several titles before beginning a career in sales and marketing with radio stations and real estate. In the last 20 years she worked marketing for several prominent home builders in Dallas, including Our Country Homes, Meritage Homes, David Weekley Homes and others. Lisa is survived by a loving extended family.
Thomas Kellam • May 28, 1971 - December 24, 2018 Thomas Kellam, 47, died unexpectedly on December 24, 2018 in Richardson. Thomas was born in Dallas. He grew up in the Garland/Sachse area. He was a mortgage loan officer at Supreme Lending. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Kellam and extended family. Thomas, aka Team Mom Tom or Mr. Tom, served as the 12U Team leader and directed his passion to helping others.
Christopher Castellow • January 7, 1971 - January 12, 2019 Christopher Castellow, 48, passed away after a long battle with cancer. Chris was born in Ardmore, OK. He was a mortgage lender and lived in Little Elm with his wife Niki and their three children. He was active in the community and his children’s activities. Followed closely behind Chris’s walk with God, his top priority was family and friends.
Susan Kaplan • Passed January 22, 2019 Our DFW real estate community lost a dear friend and valued colleague. Susan Kaplan worked at MetroTex for over 20 years. She passed on January 22, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. A service to celebrate Susan’s life was held on January 24th at the Beth Torah section at Restland Memorial Park.
