KANSAS CITY REALTOR® WINS NATIONAL AWARD FOR LEADING FIGHT AGAINST VETERAN HOMELESSNESS Local Realtor® and combat veteran Mark Solomon, is one of five winners chosen for the National Association of Realtors® Good Neighbor Award. Solomon co-founded Veterans Community Project (VCP), a nonprofit organization headquartered in Kansas City that fights veteran homelessness through “tiny house” developments.

The Good Neighbor Award is a national award issued by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) each year to stand out REALTORS® who dedicate much of their time to helping others through charitable work. REALTORS® from across the country apply for the award, and last month, ten finalists were selected, Solomon and four others were selected from those ten as this year’s Good Neighbor Award winners.

Mark Solomon is an amazing example of going the extra mile to serve others.

The Kansas City Veterans Community Project village includes an outreach center where veterans can secure medical and mental health referrals, employment assistance and addiction counseling and treatment. With VCP’s 49-house Kansas City community nearly complete, Solomon is helping build a new tiny homes neighborhood in Colorado while working to expand the cause nationwide. As a Good Neighbor Award winner, Solomon will receive a $10,000 grant for VCP. Solomon also

won the distinction of a “Web Choice Favorite” after earning one of highest public vote totals. Because of this, he earned an additional $1,250 grant from realtor.com, which sponsored the voting. Solomon will be recognized by NAR at its annual November meetings in San Francisco. NAR released a video showcasing his work. “This year marks the 20-year milestone of the Good Neighbor Awards Program recognizing Realtor volunteers across the country,” said NAR President John Smaby, “I am proud to honor Mark Solomon for going beyond the call of duty to help those who have given so much to defend our country.” Like Solomon, Realtors® from across the Kansas City metro have been honored with service awards recognizing their contributions to organizations and efforts that positively impact the communities they live and work in. “Mark Solomon is an amazing example of going the extra mile to serve others.
