Berlin High School offers a fire safety course for juniors and seniors. The class meets twice a week. On this particular day, students worked on making hose lines and did a drill where they had to pry open a door with tools.

Fresh Monkee opens
English teacher Andrea Rodrigue has been named 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year for Berlin High School. Rodrigue talks about Berlin High School’s renovation back sometime around the 2013-2014 school year. She recalls seeing this process as it went through each of the phases and was able to see it from start to finish.

“I wish they had before and after photos because it was so awesome. There is a new technology wing that we didn’t have before,” Rodrigue said. “I am blessed that I’m working in a building where I have everything I need and then some.”

A firefighting class offered at Berlin High School a few years ago has been on hiatus due to staffing changes. But a new version of the program, modeled on the Firefighter I level certification course, has taken its place.
