In Brief Local PGA Jr. golfer Joseph LaVallee III was the first annual recipient of the John Hartan Coaches Award. The award goes to a Jr. PGA golfer who has displayed the drive, work ethic, sportsmanship and effort it takes to not only be a skilled golfer, but also a great teammate. With the help of the Ryan T. Lee Foundation, LaVallee will receive a season pass to Timberlin Golf Course for the 2021 season.

Clothing, goods collection The Knights Of Columbus/ Berlin Lions Club Upbeat Lions House has scheduled a clothing and goods collection for military veterans Oct. 26 through Nov. 7. Items being collected include toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving cream, razors, shampoo), stationary, new

Those who wish to dispose of leaves on their own may bring them to the drop-off area at 19 Town Farm Lane (off Massirio drive), Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday's through October, 8 a.m. to noon. Extended hours (8 a.m. to 3 p.m.) will be held Saturdays, Oct. 24 and 31 and Nov. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Pantry collection The Berlin Republican Town Committee is collecting food and monetary donations/gift cards for the Berlin Food Pantry at GOP headquarters, 945 Farmington Ave. (formerly A.S.
